He is the author of a comprehensive, based on sources, biography of Eliza Orzeszkowa, which was edited several times.

    Tradycja literacka w szkolnej praktyce jest traktowana coraz bardziej ambiwalentnie. Nie jest jednak wyłącznie tym, co czytelnicy kolejnych pokoleń zastają – jest kształtowana przez nich w procesie nieustannego wyboru i jej deprecjonowanie to także sposób określenia tradycji wybranej przez kolejne pokolenie. W stosunku do literatury epoki baroku – wiedza o niej zmieniła się najbardziej w ciągu ostatniego półwiecza – podstawową barierą wydaje się archaiczny język oraz zakres odwołań do tradycji grecko-rzymskiej. Do jej przekroczenia brakuje jednak odpowiedniej motywacji. Sposobem przełamania dystansu do literatury dawnych wieków jest przede wszystkim przynajmniej częściowa aktualizacja tradycji, utwory obecne w szkole zostały wybrane często już przed stu laty i bywają mało adekwatne do współczesnych problemów. Nie są to to konkretne propozycje zmiany, choć przywołane zostają nazwiska Wacława Potockiego, Jana Andrzeja Morsztyna i innych poetów tego czasu. Szkolne kształcenie literackie daje uczniom możliwość odnalezienia się w rzeczywistości tu i teraz, buduje w nich system oceny i sposoby rozumienia, które pozostaną częścią intelektualnej i estetycznej formacji. absolwenta szkoły średniej.
    The literary tradition is treated more and more ambivalently in school practice. However, it is not only what subsequent generations of readers find – it is shaped by them in a process of constant choice, while depreciating it is also a way of definingthe tradition as chosen by the next generation. As for the literature of the Baroque era – knowledge about it has undergone the deepest change over the last half-century – the main barrier seems to be the archaic language and the scale of references to the Greco-Roman tradition. However, there is no adequate motivation to overcome it. The way to break the distance to the literature of the past is, first of all, to update the tradition at least partially; some of the works present in the school programs were selected a hundred years ago and are often not adequate to contemporary problems. There are no specific proposals for change, although the names of Wacław Potocki, Jan Andrzej Morsztyn and other poets of that time are mentioned. School literary education gives students the opportunity to find themselves in the here and now reality, builds in them a system of assessment and ways of understanding that will remain part of the intellectual and aesthetic formation of a high school graduate.

    The review is a look at the book Z romantycznych rodowodów biblijnych. Apostoł Paweł w twórczości Cypriana Norwida (From the Romantic Biblical Origins. St Paul the Apostle in Cyprian Norwid's Work) as an inter-disciplinary publication showing the author's great competence in all the problems he tackles, with theology and study of literature at the head. In the background the question appears about the method accepted by Piotr Marchewka, which may seem complicated to an average reader, but his style of shaping the text (the “case” one) is clear and harmonious enough to make the seemingly formal text a nice reading. Numerous references, digressions and penetrating analyses of Dwa męczeństwa (Two martyrdoms) and Salem consistently lead to the finale that is a convincing suggestion of an explanation of Norwid's fascination with the figure of St Paul.

    Dla literaturoznawcy zajmującego się twórczością adresowaną do dzieci pociągająca jest myśl o poznaniu autentycznego, niezafałszowanego dziecięcego odbioru, doznań i refleksji towarzyszących wczesnym kontaktom z literaturą. Zarazem literaturoznawca ów wie, że znajomość tej sfery jest w sposób nieuchronny cząstkowa, a w relacji do ciekawości poznawczej – wręcz znikoma. Referat jest próbą opisu specyficznego „studium przypadku” – źródłem poznania jest tu bowiem pamięć autorki referatu o jej własnych dziecięcych lekturach, a konkretnie o sądach i emocjach odnoszących się do bohaterów tychże lektur. Motywację tego podejścia stanowi przekonanie o silnym, wyrazistym dostępie do własnych wspomnień oraz obecności w nich wątków interesujących, a niekiedy być może zaskakujących. Towarzyszy temu oczywiście świadomość, że także własne wspomnienia nie są dostępne „w stanie czystym”. Jednak proces transformacji treści wspomnień nie jest tu traktowany jako przeszkoda; przeciwnie, niesie on ze sobą możliwość dołączenia dodatkowej perspektywy, skoro dorosła osobowość dawnego dziecka – „mola książkowego”, jest naznaczoną przez profesję literaturoznawczą.
    For a literary scholar specialising in texts targeted at children it is tempting to explore the authentic, original childish cognition of the text, together with the feelings and reflections that accompany the child while reading. At the same time, the scholar knows that the access to these sphere is, inevitably, only partial, even scant compared to the scholar’s curiosity. This article is an attempt to describe a specific “case study” for the analysed source of cognition are the memories of the author herself, concerning her childish readings, her judgements and emotions that the characters she read about evoked in her. The motif for such an idea is a strong conviction that the information included in her vivid memories and experiences provide an interesting, sometimes even surprising, field for analysis. Nevertheless, the author is aware that the memories we possess are never available in the “clear form”. However, the process of transformation of the memories is not treated as an obstacle; quite the contrary, it offers a possibility to add an additional perspective, since the adult personality of a former child – a bookworm – is interlinked with the profession of a literary scholar.

    Celem artykułu jest prezentacja dwu przykładowych sposobów pisania o literaturze okresu PRL i, w szerszym kontekście, dwu form uprawiania historii literatury jako takiej. Wskazując na podstawowe przesłanki istnienia współczesnej historii literatury (utrata neutralności języka badawczego, nieostrość granic przedmiotu badań literaturoznawczych, zmieniona sytuacja nauk humanistycznych), autor artykułu prezentuje formę studium jednego roku (a single year study) oraz badania inspirowane koncepcjami nowego regionalizmu. Dają one możliwość prześledzenia tematyki dotąd słabo obecnej w badaniach nad kulturą PRL (kultura lokalna, relacje między kulturą oficjalną i lokalną, trwałość podziałów porozbiorowych w kulturze powojennej) oraz przybliżenia powojennego doświadczenia poprzez wieloaspektową prezentację pojedynczego momentu w czasie (studium jednego roku).
    The aim of this article is to put forth two exemplary methods for writing about literature from the PRL period and, in a broader context, two forms of constructing a history of literature by this model. Enumerating the basic premises for a contemporary history of literature (the loss of neutrality for critical languages, the blurring of borders that define the object of literary studies, and the the altered state of the human sciences), this article’s author proposes the form of the single year study as well as studies inspired by the conceptual apparatus of new regionalism. These approaches offer a chance to investigate thematics that have thus far been ignored in scholarship on PRL-era culture (local culture, the relationship between official and local culture, and the persistence of the internal borders of partitioned Poland in postwar culture) as well as an intimate approach to postwar experience through the multifaceted representation of an isolated moment in time (the single year study).

    The article raises a question of research on children’s literature led in Poland and stemmed from Jerzy Cieślikowski’s conception that refers to the theory of fun acivities by French culture expert Roger Caillois. The authoress considers particularly useful Caillois’s essey entitled Ludzie a gry i zabawy (Le jeux et les hommes, 1958, polish translation 1973), in which he set out the typology of different kinds of jollity and provided polish researchers with a very wide questioning context. She also itroduces Cieślikowski’s concept as well as analyses the akin thoughts. Furthermore, she acquaints the reader with the effect of her own study on literature for children which is based on Caillois’s typology. She comes with her own proposals of archetypal perceptive models derived fromludic functions of literature for children.

The paper is a hidden polemic with the texts that have recently been published (not quoted by their names or indicated in the footnotes). These texts have brought forth a diagnosis that there is a delay in terms of methodology with regard to the studies on Old-Polish literature and have postulated their application to the studies on ancient literature. The author formulates her belief that traditional philology is indispensable in the studies on Old-Polish literature with an awareness that there should be a free choice in selecting the method of its interpretation. The text emerges from a protest against the rhetoric of methodological directives formulated under the influence of fashion, ideology, or fatigue with the object of research and from radical distrust to methodological directives as such, and the majority of directives in general.

    This interpretation of Michał Choromański's novel Schodami w górę, schodami w dół (Upstairs, Downstairs) focuses primarily on issues related to the inner life of the characters and the representation of the outside world in the context of classical psychoanalysis. The appropriateness of the psychoanalytical approach is justified by numerous references to Freud's theory in the text of the novel. The study reaches out to Choromański's other novels and short stories, but embarks on a more systematic comparison of Schodami w górę, schodami w dół with only one of them, Zazdrość i medycyna (Jealousy and Medicine), his most popular novel published in 1936.

    W rozmaitych tekstach dotyczących ekonomii społecznej raz po raz pojawia się słowo izomorfizm, dotąd nie rozwijane szerzej w literaturze przedmiotu. Artykuł przedstawia zasadnicze cechy konceptu izomorfizmu instytucjonalnego - pojęcia wypracowanego w dziedzinie socjologii organizacji. Trzy główne typy procesów izomorfizmu, tj. koercyjne, mimetyczne i normatywne, wyodrębnili w swoim klasycznym eseju z 1983 r. P. DiMaggio i W. Powell. Autorzy ci podjęli także próbę antycypacji wystąpienia zmiany izomorficznej poprzez wyszczególnienie wyznaczników takiej zmiany na poziomie organizacji i na poziomie pola organizacyjnego (ustalonego obszaru życia instytucji, jej bliższego i dalszego środowiska). Spośród różnych prób operacjonalizacji izomorfizmu do bardziej zaawansowanych należą prace E. Lewis. W sektorze non profit z różnych względów należy się spodziewać występowania tendencji izomorficznych. O niektórych z nich mówił już C. Borzaga. Artykuł obrazuje znane w literaturze zagranicznej przykłady procesów izomorficznych w sektorze pozarządowym i ekonomii społecznej. W Szwecji sieć stowarzyszeń oferujących edukację dla dorosłych zmaga się z uniformizacją wyrastającą z zależności finansowych od państwa oraz z koniecznością orientacji prorynkowej. W Wielkiej Brytanii wszystkie trzy presje izomorficzne zagrażają entuzjastycznej orientacji prousługowej w sektorze publicznym. Procesy izomorficzne dotykają także przedsiębiorstwa społeczne w Danii. Stan izomorfizmu w polskim sektorze non profit nie został jeszcze szerzej zbadany. (abstrakt oryginalny)
    Time and again, authors of various texts on social economy use the term 'isomorphism'without elaborating it any further. The article discusses the fundamental features ofthe concept of institutional isomorphism developed in the field of the sociology of organisations. P. DiMaggio and W. Powell in their seminal essay of 1983 identified three main kinds of isomorphism: coercive, mimetic and normative. Those authors also tried to anticipate the emergence of isomorphic change by specifying the determinants of such change at the level of organisations and organisational fields (a specific area in which an institution operates, its more and less distant environments). Amongst various attempts to operation- alise this idea, E. Lewis'work, as the most advanced, comes to the fore. In the non-profit sector, isomorphic trends can be expected for a variety of reasons. Some of them were already mentioned by C. Borzaga.This article recalls examples of isomorphic processes in the non-government sector and in social economy, well-known in international literature. In Sweden, the network of associations offering education for adults struggles with a uniformisation rooted in financial dependence on the state and the necessity to demonstrate a promarket orientation. In the UK, all three isomorphic pressures threaten the enthusiastic pro-service orientation in the public sector. Isomorphic processes also affect social enterprises in Denmark. The issue of isomorphism of Poland's non-profit sector has not been examined in depth until now. (original abstract)
