    Physical activity and eating habits are very important determinants of health. The aim of the study is to demonstrate relationship between the level of activity and eating habits of students. The study involved 1,291 female students with an average age of 19.5, from 12 fields of study of the National University in Lutsk, Ukraine. In order to assess the activity levels the authors applied long version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), and eating habits were surveyed via a questionnaire prepared at the Institute of Agricultural Medicine in Lublin. With regards to behaviors related to eating habits a significantly higher activity was observed in people suffering from fear of food. In the case of behaviors related to care for the appearance and the figure, a higher physical activity was shown among students performing exercises to reduce and to gain weight. Very insignificant use of the test participants of unhealthy means indicates appropriate health-promoting attitudes of the female students.

    Opis:
    The aim of this study was to investigate the physical activity, the basic parameters of physical development, and eating habits of students from Ukraine. The research method of diagnostic survey using a IPAQ questionnaire  and nutrition questionnaire was carried out in 2013 among 2 125 students, for 60.8% of women and 39.2% men. As a result of studies beneficial indicators of total physical activity were demonstrated, with higher physical activity of persons who have sufficient amount of free time. The level of BMI indicator is in the majority of students at a normal level. The amount and frequency of meals is a sign of positive healthy behaviors. Also the disadvantageous behaviors occur, such as avoidance and loss of control over eating and induction of vomiting for the sake of one’s body.

    Introduction. A large-scale research was performed concerning issues relating to physical activity as an important factor in a healthy lifestyle and involved observing the differences among males and females as future elites of the Ukraine. Objective. The objective of the research is to assess the physical activity of students from the Ukraine, considering such factors as: gender, leisure time, time spent sitting, sports performed or intended to be performed, and the BMI. Materials and method. The extended version of the IPAQ, supplemented with 3 original questions by the authors, was applied to a 2,125-strong student group from 12 majors of the University of Luck, Ukraine. Results. Students from Ukraine portrayed a positive picture of physical activity with significantly higher values in male students of both total activity and its fields, i.e. sports activity and work (studying). The male students performed better in their fitness (condition) self-assessment and the amount of time spent sitting, whereas the female students had better BMI results. Both genders differed considerably in their choice of sport-recreational activities. Conclusions. Females more than males demonstrated lower indices of participation in physical activity, which did not permit the formulation of a positive assessment of their lifestyle. A positive phenomenon is the normal BMI and trace values of overweight in women, exactly the reverse to males.

    Wzrost odsetka studentów-cudzoziemców w ogólnej liczbie studentów stanowi przede wszystkim jeden z kluczy do internacjonalizacji uczelni, jednak dla wielu szkół wyższych w Polsce stanowi także szansę na rozwój ilościowy, a nawet przetrwanie. Jest też ogromnym wyzwaniem dla ośrodków akademickich, które na taką ścieżkę rozwoju się zdecydowały. Muszą one bowiem podjąć wiele przedsięwzięć w celu zbudowania odpowiednich warunków studiowania dla młodzieży pochodzącej spoza kraju. Uczelnie, które stawiają w swoich strategiach na wzrost liczby studentów-cudzoziemców muszą nie tylko dostrzegać i realizować nowe wyzwania, które ogólnie dotyczą procesu umiędzynarodowienia, ale także monitorować potrzeby i poznawać opinie studentów odnośnie do stopnia ich zaspokojenia. Źródłem informacji i danych w procesach decyzyjnych służących doskonaleniu dotychczasowych przedsięwzięć i sposobów ich realizacji są systematycznie prowadzone badania ewaluacyjne. Celem opracowania jest pokazanie uwarunkowań umiędzynarodowienia polskich uczelni oraz stojących przez nimi nowych zadań , a także identyfikacja potrzeb studentów-cudzoziemców i stopnia ich zaspokojenia. W opracowaniu przedstawiono wyniki badania ewaluacyjnego przeprowadzonego w Grupie Uczelni Vistula – szkoły wyższej, w której studiuje około 2000 studentów pochodzących z Ukrainy.
    The growth of the percentage of foreign students in the total number of students is primarily one of the keys to internationalisation of universities; however, for many schools of the academic rank in Poland, this is also an opportunity for a quantitative growth and even survival. This is also a great challenge for academic centres which have decided on such a path of development as they have to undertake many endeavours in order to set forth adequate study conditions for youth of foreign origin. The schools, which in their strategies count on the growth of the number of foreign students, must not only perceive and cope with new challenges, which generally concern the process of internationalisation, but also monitor the needs and learn students’ opinions as to the degree of their satisfaction. A source of information and data in the decision making processes serving improvement of the hitherto projects and ways of their implementation is a systematically carried out evaluation studies. An aim of the work is to show the determinants of internationalisation of Polish universities and the new tasks they face as well as to identify the needs of foreign students and the degree of their satisfaction. In her article, the author presented findings of the evaluation study carried out in the Vistula University Group – the university where there are studying about 2000 students from Ukraine.
    Рост доли студентов-иностранцев в общем числе студентов представляет прежде всего одну из основ для интернационализации вуза, но для многих вузов в Польше он представляет собой также шанс для количественного развития, а даже выживания. Это тоже огромный вызов для академических центров, которые решились на такой путь развития, ибо они должны взять на себя многие мероприятия для создания соответствующих условий учебы для молодежи изза рубежа. Вузы, которые в своих стратегиях делают ставку на рост числа студентовиностранцев, должны не только замечать и справляться с новыми вызовами, которые в общем касаются процесса интернационализации, но и вести мониторинг потребностей и изучать мнения студентов о степени их удовлетворения. Источником информации и данных в процессах принятия решений, которые служат совершенствованию прежних мероприятий и способов их осуществления, являются систематически проводимые исследования по оценке. Цель разработки – показать обусловленности интернационализации польских вузов и стоящие перед ними новые задачи, а также выявить потребности студентов-иностранцев и степень их удовлетоврения. В разработке представлены результаты оценки, проведенной в группе вузов Vistula – вуза, в котором обучается около 2000 студентов из Украины.

    Opis:
    In the article the author describes factors and social and economical consequences of the constantly increasing number of Ukrainian students in Poland. In the academic year 2014/2015 Ukrainians constituted more than 50,6% of all foreigner students in Poland. This process has been called the “ukrainization” of the polish universities. The factors which have an impact on the increasing number of Ukrainian students are the opportunity to make a European diploma, not stable political and economical situation in Ukraine, corruption in Ukrainian universities. The “ukrainization” of the Polish universities, in one hand, is an antidote for the consequences of bad demography and is a part of wider process of the internalization of higher education in Poland. In the other hand, the increasing number of students from Ukraine makes some of Polish students do feel being discriminated because of – in their opinion – Ukrainians are treated by teachers with a bigger tolerance because of the lower level of knowing Polish language and because of the situation in Ukraine in 2014–2015. Also Polish students are against the government’s financial support for the Ukrainians who arrived from the Eastern Ukraine. The written paper is based on government statistics, articles published by “Perspektywy” Foundation and other articles on the subject. 
    W artykule zostały przedstawione czynniki sprzyjające zwiększającemu się napływowi Ukraińców na studia do Polski oraz społeczno-ekonomiczne konsekwencje tego procesu. W roku akademickim 2014/2015 Ukraińcy stanowili 50,6% ogółu studentów cudzoziemców na polskich uczelniach. Zjawisko to zostało określone w mediach mianem „ukrainizacji”. Czynnikami, które mają wpływ na podjęcie decyzji o przyjeździe do Polski coraz większej liczby studentów z Ukrainy, są m.in. możliwość zdobycia europejskiego dyplomu, niestabilna sytuacja polityczna i ekonomiczna na Ukrainie w latach 2013–2015 oraz zjawisko korupcji na ukraińskich uczelniach wyższych. Z jednej strony „ukrainizacja” polskich uczelni stanowi antidotum na konsekwencje niżu demograficznego i jest częścią szerszego procesu umiędzynarodowienia szkolnictwa wyższego w Polsce, a z drugiej – część polskich studentów deklaruje, że czują się dyskryminowani, gdyż w ich opinii wykładowcy traktują studentów z Ukrainy ulgowo ze względu na słabą znajomość języka polskiego i sytuację polityczno-ekonomiczną na Ukrainie. Polscy studenci deklarują również sprzeciw wobec finansowania studiów dla Ukraińców z publicznych pieniędzy. Opracowanie powstało w oparciu o dane statystyczne Głównego Urzędu Statystycznego, artykuły udostępnione przez Fundację „Perspektywy” i inne opracowania z danego obszaru.

    Opis:
    The aim of the article is to present the 2nd School of Intercultural Education (IISEM) “Strengthening the potential of children and youth with a migrant background” as an example of a cyclical training activity addressed to people involved in educational practice. The paper is a voice in the discussion on the professional competences of teachers, educationalists, psychologists, intercultural assistants, etc. who work in dynamically changing conditions of cultural diversity. Therefore, their competences should be systematically developed in the dialogical relationship between pedagogical theory and practice, in the process of lifelong education, taking into account the specificity of the environment in which the school operates and the challenges and needs existing in it. The article consists of three complementary parts. The first outlines the socio-cultural contexts of contemporary education. Against this background, the goals and specificity of IISEM are shown. The third part presents the methodological package “Towards the integration of Polish and Ukrainian students”, which contains scenarios of educational activities being the result of the work of IISEM participants in culturally diverse environments. The content presented in the text is the result of my own experience and observations resulting from five months of cooperation with the School participants as a mentor and the work of the editor of the substantive methodological package. These activities were accompanied by systematic consultations with IISEM participants, observation of classes conducted during the School (including the implementation of some of them), the evaluation of IISEM (using surveys and interviews with its participants) and analysis of the collected data. The content comprised in the text can be useful both to people interested in intercultural education, both in its theoretical aspects and in educational practice.
    Celem artykułu jest prezentacja II Szkoły Edukacji Międzykulturowej (IISEM) „Wzmacnianie potencjału osobowego dzieci i młodzieży z doświadczeniem migracji” jako przykładu cyklicznego działania szkoleniowego adresowanego do osób zaangażowanych w praktykę edukacyjną. Tekst stanowi głos w dyskusji na temat kompetencji zawodowych nauczycieli, pedagogów, psychologów, asystentów międzykulturowych itd., którzy na co dzień pracują w dynamicznie zmieniających się warunkach zróżnicowania kulturowego. Dlatego też ich kompetencje powinny być systematycznie rozwijane w dialogowej relacji teorii i praktyki pedagogicznej, w procesie edukacji całożyciowej, z uwzględnieniem specyfiki środowiska, w którym funkcjonuje szkoła, oraz wyzwań i potrzeb w niej istniejących. Artykuł składa się z trzech komplementarnych części. W pierwszej zostały nakreślone konteksty społeczno-kulturowe współczesnej edukacji. Na tym tle ukazano cele oraz specyfikę IISEM. Trzecia część przedstawia pakiet metodyczny „W stronę integracji uczniów polskich i ukraińskich”, który zawiera scenariusze zajęć edukacyjnych stanowiące efekt pracy uczestników IISEM w środowiskach zróżnicowanych kulturowo. Treści zaprezentowane w tekście są wynikiem doświadczeń i obserwacji własnych wynikających z pięciomiesięcznej współpracy z uczestnikami Szkoły w charakterze mentora oraz pracy redaktora merytorycznego pakietu metodycznego. Działaniom tym towarzyszyły systematyczne konsultacje z uczestnikami IISEM, obserwacja zajęć prowadzonych w toku Szkoły (w tym realizacja części z nich), ewaluacja IISEM (za pomocą ankiet i rozmów z jej uczestnikami) oraz analiza danych zebranych w jej toku. Treści zawarte w tekście mogą być przydatne zarówno osobom zainteresowanym edukacją międzykulturową od strony teoretycznej, jak i praktyką edukacyjną.
