This quasi-experiment examined the impact of the jigsaw cooperative learning technique on enhancing the speaking skill of Kuwaiti student-teachers of English. In the first semester of 2019/2020, 40 female students enrolled in a Conversation Course were divided equally into control and experimental groups based on an oral presentation task (pre-test). Data was assessed through a speaking skill competency rubric (vocabulary, accuracy, fluency, and pronunciation). The post-test results indicated statistically significant differences between the means of the participants in favor of the experimental group. A pre-post experiment questionnaire was also administered to identify students’ attitudes towards the jigsaw technique. SPSS program was used for data analysis. The t-test results showed a positive attitude of the experimental group towards cooperative learning and the jigsaw technique. It isrecommended to use the jigsaw technique to improve students’ speaking skills.

This study reports on EFL student teachers’ opinions, beliefs and their self-awareness of developing 21st century skills, particularly the 4Cs: critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, in the Polish educational context. A questionnaire designed for the purpose of this study was administered to 53 participants who were all student teachers of English enrolled in bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes. The survey results indicate that although the majority of the participants showed a low level of understanding of what 21st century skills are, they were fairly positive about integrating them into foreign language classroom instruction. At the same time, the teacher trainees tended to overrate their own abilities to develop the 4Cs in their future students. These findings suggest a greater need to raise FL teachers’ awareness as to the implementation of particular 21st century skills in the classroom. It is also postulated that enhancing such skills among student teachers in the course of teacher training is a prerequisite for 21st century skills-oriented pedagogy.

In inclusive education, teachers work with all students, including those exhibiting aggressive behaviors. Today, many teachers struggle with challenging student behavior. The study aims to examine (1) aggressive behaviors in students with SPE – a source of teacher frustration in inclusive education, (2) the consequences of these behaviors triggering fears in teachers, and (3) the relationship between teacher seniority and likely consequences as per objective 2. The survey was conducted among 188 teachers. The data were analyzed using descriptive and correlational approaches. We determined that (1) the main source of teacher frustration is the physical aggression displayed by students with ASD, ADHD, ODD and CD; (2) the fear students with SEN may hurt other students is prominent amongst teachers, with a linear correlation between predictable consequences, where the strongest links appear between prediction of conflict in a classroom and the accusation of incompetence levelled at teachers by parents of students with SEN and between the fear of losing self-control and disapproval by superiors; (3) no significant relationship exists between the seniority of teachers and their perception of the sources of frustrations and fears. Against the background of the results, we formulated recommendations on inclusive education training for teachers.

Aggressive behaviour of students with SEN is a real challenge for teachers who follow the principles of inclusive education. A superficial judgement of such incidents by the society is easily disseminated, and weakens the teacher’s sense of competence and professional prestige. This article presents the results of a qualitative analysis of teachers’ statements regarding their effective and ineffective ad hoc interventions conducted against outbreaks of impulsive aggression of students with SEN.

Opis:
Łomżyńska prasa szkolna okresu międzywojennego starała się spełniać ważne zadania w procesie edukacji i wychowania. Wnioskować tak można po analizie trzech gazet: „Czuwaj” (1917–1933), „Echo Szkolne” (1927–1929) i „Seminarzysta” (1925–1926). Pieczę nad gazetami redagowanymi przez uczniowskie zespoły zawsze sprawowali nauczyciele. Taka organizacja pozwalała na częściową niezależność tych gazet oraz jednoczesne przekazywanie zamierzonych treści. Zamieszczane teksty pogłębiały wiedzę z różnych dziedzin i rozwijały. Artykuły o rocznicach i wydarzeniach historycznych wzmacniały patriotyzm i świadomość narodową. Relacje ze szkolnych uroczystości, harcerskich zbiórek i wycieczek zachęcały do aktywności. Wiele artykułów wpływało na postawy młodzieży. Łomżyńska prasa szkolna różnorodnymi publikacjami i dużą ilością prezentowanych na łamach wątków realizowała nadrzędne cele edukacyjno-wychowawcze: przygotowywała młodzież do odpowiedzialności za przyszłość ojczyzny, aktywnego życia w społeczeństwie i sumiennej pracy.
Student newspapers in Łomża had an important role in education and upbringing. To such a conclusion leads the analysis of three newspapers: „Czuwaj” (1917–1933), „Echo Szkolne” (1927–1929) and „Seminarzysta” (1925–1926). The custody of students who edited newspapers always held teachers. This organization allowed the partial independence of these newspapers and the simultaneous convey of the intended content. The published texts deepened knowledge from different fields and develop. The articles about anniversaries and historical events aroused patriotism and national consciousness. The reports from school celebrations, scouting assemblies and trips encouraged activity. Many of these articles influenced the attitudes of young people. With the aid if various publications and a lot of topics presented in the pages, the newspapers realized the overriding educational and tutorial aim: preparing young people for the responsibility for the future of their homeland, an active social life and hard work.

The purpose of this study was to reveal the relationship between the behaviors of students in physical education and sports lessons in Special Education Application Centers in Turkey and the burnout levels of physical education and sports teachers. The sample group of the study comprised 195 physical education and sports teachers who work in Special Education Application Centers. The data gathered from the study group were statistically analyzed using SPSS 18.0 for package software. In conclusion, the obtained findings demonstrated that the physical education and sports teachers in the study group were faced with the reality of burnout.

The contribution brings an analysis of transformational leadership among Slovak secondary education teachers in comparison with ideas of student teachers. The research sample consists of secondary education teachers (N = 142) and student teachers (N = 142). Data are obtained from the Slovak version of the LPI/Leadership Practices Inventory. Results indicate statistically significant differences in three dimensions favouring students against teachers: Model the Way, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act. Slovak students consider transformational leadership practices essential as Slovak teachers apply them in their daily practice. Results are discussed mainly from the perspective of ontogenetic and educational practice.

This article explores the importance of teachers' conceptions of student learning. In the first part, we focus on the teacher conceptions that stimulate process-oriented instruction. In the second part, we present the results of empirical research on teachers in Slovenian border areas. Article examines the occurrence of professional stress among academic teachers (postgraduate students), doctors and policemen particularly exposed to intensive in uence of stressful impulses for social character of the functions they perform. Basing on the literature of object, author enriches the analysis with his own ndings. In rst instance he de nes the notion of stressors and then he tries to nd and make them up in the form of specific threats, adequate for each of the above mentioned professional groups. His analysis is extended by the aspect of professional transformations taking into consideration their social-cultural conditions. Thanks to it the author shows the existence of relationship not only between the age of respondents and susceptibility on stress but he underlines as well how important place in human’s needs hierarchy takes the professional job. Frustration, fear, tension and anxiety destructively in uence the psychical form of an individual e ecting in negative consequence de ned by the hereby article as a professional burnout.

The bilingual process is widely observed among many people and many cultures. Out of the many different forms of bilingualism, the form of bilingualism that most often appears is the subsequent one, being the result of learning a second language in school settings. When developing this type of bilingualism, both the language competences of language teachers and the quality of their teaching talent are very important. In order to assess this type of interdependence, a study that focuses on the teachers’ skills and competences, on the one hand, and the impact L2 teachers have on students, on the other hand, was designed. The study involved 50 teachers and 100 students taught by them, all of them attending vocational secondary schools in southern Poland. All participants of the study (i.e. both the teachers and the students) were to answer six verification questions included in the Matura exam 2018. The results obtained during the research indicate the existence of an interdependence between the actual level of proficiency of foreign language (FL) teachers and the final evel of L2 proficiency presented by their students. Generally, the students led by language teachers with a higher overall level of communicative competence showed an overall better command of English in the survey.

Jesteśmy świadkami przemian w edukacji zmierzających do upowszechnienia kształcenia uczniów w systemie edukacji włączającej. Proces ten trwa w całej Europie i ma charakter nieodwracalny. Edukacja włączająca w niektórych szkołach jest już rzeczywistością, w innych dość odległą ideą. Celem artykułu jest charakterystyka procesu dojrzewania gotowości nauczycieli do pracy w systemie edukacji włączającej na tle przemian dokonujących się w edukacji w ostatnim dziesięcioleciu. W artykule został zaprezentowany wizerunek, profil idealnego nauczyciela edukacji włączającej z uwzględnieniem jego cech osobowości, predyspozycji do zawodu, następnie jego kwalifikacji i kompetencji, aż wreszcie praktycznych umiejętności. W drugiej części autorka dokonała prezentacji fragmentu współautorskich badań przeprowadzonych w 2019 r. wśród ponad 700 nauczycieli różnych typów szkół i poziomów edukacji, konfrontując je z innymi badaniami nauczycieli w kraju i za granicą. Badania dotyczą opinii nauczycieli na temat edukacji włączającej oraz doświadczanych przez nich trudności i potrzeb na drodze do realizacji skutecznej inkluzji. Podsumowaniem będzie nakreślenie kierunków przemian i dobrych praktyk w zakresie przygotowania nauczycieli do kompetentnej i efektywnej pracy w nurcie edukacji włączającej.
We are witnessing changes in education aimed at popularising the education of students in the inclusive education system. This process is ongoing across Europe and is irreversible. Inclusive education has already become a reality in some schools yet in others it is rather a far-fetched idea. The aim of the article is to characterize the process of developing readiness of teachers to work in the inclusive education system in the light of changes in education over the past decade. The article will present the image, profile of an ideal teacher of inclusive education taking into account his personality traits, predisposition to the profession, then qualifications and competences, and finally practical skills. In the second part, the author will present an excerpt from a co-author’s research conducted in 2019 on more than 700 teachers of different types of schools and levels of education in comparison with other Polish and international studies related to teachers. The research pertains to teachers' opinions on inclusive education and the difficulties and needs they experience on the way to effective inclusion. The summary will outline the directions of changes and good practices in preparing teachers for competent and effective work in the inclusive education.
