Opis:: This paper seeks to investigate what sports metaphors are used in Polish written commentaries on politics and what special purpose they serve. In particular, the paper examines structural metaphors that come from the lexicon of popular sports, such as boxing, racing, track and field athletics, sailing, etc. The language data, derived from English Internet websites, has been grouped and discussed according to source domains. Applying George Lakoff and Mark Johnson’s approach to metaphor, the paper attempts to determine both the kind of source domains from which common metaphors are drawn and to what degree structural metaphors are used. The data suggests that many structural metaphors can be found in the language of politics. They are drawn from a wide variety of sports source domains, although the domains of boxing, racing, sailing, and soccer are of particular prominence. It seems that the primary function of structural metaphors in written commentaries is to facilitate the interpretation of facts in a way that is enormously appealing to the reader.

Opis:: Celem artykułu jest próba kompleksowego przedstawienia instrumentów prawnych służących zmianie generacyjnej właścicieli indywidualnych gospodarstw rolnych w Polsce w ramach Programu Rozwoju Obszarów Wiejskich 2007–2013. Uwzględnione zostały dwa działania w ramach osi „Poprawa konkurencyjności sektora rolnego i leśnego”, tj „Ułatwianie startu młodym rolnikom” oraz „Renty strukturalne”. W publikacji poddano analizie w szczególności definicje ustawowe beneficjentów, ukazano prawne aspekty ubiegania się o wsparcie w ramach niniejszych działań, w tym kryteria dostępu, formę i wysokość pomocy. Zaprezentowano kierunek i wpływ orzecznictwa unijnego i krajowego na wykładnię przepisów prawnych regulujących przedmiotowe działania.
The aim of this article is to attempt to provide a comprehensive analysis of the legal instruments which lead to the generative change of individual farm owners in Poland under the Rural Development Programme 2007–2013. With regards to “improving the competitiveness of the agricultural and forestry sector”, two actions will be looked at, mainly, “setting up of young farmers” and “early retirement of farmers and farm workers”. The publication scrutinizes briefly the legal definitions of beneficiaries and aspects of joining the aforementioned programes, including, entry criteria and the type and value of a subsidy. The influence of EU and national jurisdiction on the legal norms regulating these activities is described.

Opis:: On the basis of the results of the analysis of selected public debates devoted to school humanistic education, the author of the article attempts to describe the condition of Polish language and literature teachers, and to reconstruct the sources of the disintegration of relations between thoughts, emotions and behaviour, which have been sometimes referred to as “school schizophrenia”. Among these sources there are permanent changes in the syllabus, school reforms, authorities who decide upon these changes, the introduction and the character of the changes, the method of measurements of the results of Polish language teachers’ work, as well as the cult of standards and procedures. The final part of the article offers a reflection upon the possibility to teach students on the basis of one’s own values, beliefs, knowleagde and competence in such diverse and complex social and political context.
