Zaufanie jako zasób systemu ochrony zdrowia wymaga uwagi i poznania naukowego. Stąd celem niniejszego artykułu jest próba identyfikacji istoty zaufania systemowego w polskiej ochronie zdrowia poprzez ocenę jego determinant z perspektywy usługobiorcy, czyli pacjenta. Wyniki badania pozwoliły stwierdzić, że główną determinantą zaufania do systemu opieki zdrowotnej jest zaufanie do metod leczenia. Nieco mniej istotnymi, lecz również kształtującymi poziom tego zaufania, są stereotypy związane z profesją lekarza oraz medialny wizerunek systemu.
Trust as a system asset needs attention and scientific recognition. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the core of public trust in Polish health care. It has been performed by assessing the determinants of trust from patient’s point of view. The research results let us conclude that the most important determinant of public trust is the trust to the treatment. Stereotypes associated with medical profession and media image proved to be less important factors, that shape the level of public trust.

Research problem analysed in the paper concentrates on the impact of the choice of scale on the the goodness of fit of the Structural Equation Model. For that purpose the primary research tool were built and used for conducting two rounds of research. In the first round two groups of respondents were given two different questionaries dealing with the same research problem (same set of research questions) but using different, 5 or 10 point scales. After one week the same groups of respondents were asked again to assess the research problem by using different type of scale. Obtained empirical data were used to build the structural equation models (for 5 and 10 point scales) of the analysed research problem. Thanks to the collected empirical data it was possible to analyze the impact of the choice of scale on internal (AVE, Cronbach’s Alfa, Composite Reliability) and external (R2) goodness of fit of the model.

According to the age-period-cohort projection of lung cancer incidence (ICD-10 codes C33-C34), smoking prevention will be crucial for both men and women longevity. Lung cancer remains the main cancer cause of death among males in Poland. In 2014 the number of deaths in Poland caused by lung cancer among men was more than twice as high as for women. The study is focused on identification of attitudes influencing the propensity to smoke, which is performed by structural equation modelling (SEM) based on weighted least squares means and variance adjusted (WLSMV) estimation. Good fit of the presented models is demonstrated by RMSEA, NNFI and CFI values. Reliability of scales is assessed by ordinal alpha and ordinal theta coefficients. Commitment to learning in childhood exhibits the highest standardized effect on propensity to smoke, which is an argument for youth smoking prevention. Structural equation model was estimated for men and women separately because of gender differences in smoking determinants. A strong character, individualism and self-reliance are the factors, which increase smoking propensity among males. These can be treated as features of masculinity and are not statistically important determinants of being a smoker for females. Depressive disorders, being a victim of violence as adults are statistically significant determinants of smoking among women.

Enterprise innovation is currently becoming a recognized factor of the competitiveness, survival, and development of companies in the market economy. Managers still need recommendations on ways of stimulating the growth of innovation in their companies. The objective of this paper is to identify the strategic factors of enterprise innovativeness in the area of technology, defined as the most important internal factors positively impacting the innovativeness of enterprises in a strategic perspective. Empirical studies were conducted using the Computer-Assisted Web Interview (CAWI) method on a purposive sample of N = 180 small and medium-sized innovative industrial processing enterprises in Poland. Data analysis was performed using Exploratory Factor Analysis within the Confirmatory Factor Analysis framework (E-CFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Empirical research shows that the strategic factor of enterprise innovativeness in the area of technology is technological activity. A technologically active company should (1) possess a modern machinery stock, (2) conduct systematic technological audits, and (3) maintain close technical cooperation with the suppliers of raw materials, consumables, and intermediates. The implementation of the indicated recommendations by managers should lead to increased innovativeness of small and medium-sized industrial companies. The author recommends the use of the presented research procedure and data analysis methods in further studies.

The aim of this article is to present study results concerning the structure of teacher Machiavellianism. Machiavellianism was researched extensively throughout the last 40 years as a personality feature comprising traits related to leadership manipulation tactics. Psychology describes Machiavellianism as a part of the universal model called “the dark triad of personality” alongside with subclinical narcissism, subclinical psychopathy and low empathy. The teacher Machiavellianism model presented in this article, as opposed to the universal models, strongly accentuates the context-specifi c variables related to the organization of life in a school, alongside with personality variables. To achieve a new insight into the mechanism of how teacher Machiavellianism is generated, structural equation modeling (SEM) was used, which incorporates personality variables such as: self-effi cacy, disposition for gratitude, values, one’s personal resources, professional burnout, alongside context-specifi c variables like: organizational culture, work attitude, tenure and specialization in the tasks performed. Results of two studies are shown, discussing the empirical structure of teacher Machiavellianism components in relation to the initial theoretical model.

The objective of the study was to verify the relation between the congruity effect between the product ‘personality’ image and one’s self-image with the intention of purchase and valuation, in which attitudes played a mediating role. Analysis of the SEM-PLS structural model showed that the self-convergence effect influenced significantly the level of attitudes, which in turn determined the intention of purchase and willingness to pay for the product. It was shown that one’s emotional attitude increased the amount of payment for a known product and decreased it for the unknown product. On the other hand, the cognitive and behavioral attitude increased the willingness to pay for the unknown product rather than the known one. The results expand the knowledge about the effect of convergence between the personality of the customer and the product image.
Nakłady finansowe na marketing firm sprzedających napoje energetyczne (np. Redbull, Tiger, Black) z roku na rok rosną. Kluczowe dla producentów i specjalistów od marketingu jest określenie silnych determinant sprzedaży swoich produktów. Celem artykułu było zweryfikowanie relacji efektu zbieżności obrazu produktu z obrazem własnego „Ja” z intencją zakupu i wartościowaniem, w której postawy odgrywały rolę pośredniczącą. W badaniu wykorzystano reklamę nieznanego i popularnego napoju energetycznego oraz oceniono efekt zbieżności produktu z „Ja”, trzy rodzaje postaw wobec niego, intencję zakupu oraz postrzegane wartościowanie wyrażone w pieniądzach. Analiza modelu strukturalnego SEM-PLS wykazała, że efekt zbieżności z „Ja” wpływał istotnie na poziom postaw, a te z kolei determinowały intencję zakupu i postrzeganą wartość. Wykazano, że przy znanym produkcie postawa emocjonalna zwiększała jego postrzeganą wartość, a przy nieznanym ją zmniejszała. Natomiast postawa poznawcza i behawiorala silniej zwiększała wartość przy nieznanym produkcie niż znanym. Wyniki badania rozszerzają wiedzę o efekcie zbieżności z „Ja” i postaw w kontekście promocji napojów energetycznych. Są one podstawą do strategicznego kreowania wizerunku oraz maksymalizacji zysków przy wprowadzaniu nowego produktu na rynek.

Due to challenging times caused by the global pandemic and the common dynamic reality of contemporary food supply chains, logistics employees inevitably become the most valuable resource. Companies are forced to continuously monitor and forecast employee satisfaction and possible turnover intention. The paper aims to explore the impact of organizational commitment on the turnover intention among employees in logistics organizations of food supply chain companies. While the direction of this impact is rather unquestionable, the main purpose is to determine the strength of correlation and defining the more dominant commitment aspect in shaping turnover intention. Methods: A primary empirical study was conducted on a sample of 121 employees working on logistics activities workplaces from 5 companies in the food supply chain in Croatia. The turnover intention scale and organizational commitment scale were used to measure the effect of organizational commitment on turnover intention. For regression analysis, and structural equation modeling (SEM), SPSS 21.0, and AMOS 21.0 software were used to analyze the relationship of these variables. Results: After testing the proposed structural model and achieving the model fit, the explanation of variance in turnover intention was 43.4%, and after including the activity type and the personal monthly income as control variables, 44.5%. The strong, direct, significant, and negative influence of affective organizational commitment on employee turnover intention has been proven, while there was no significant influence of normative commitment. Control variables have improved the model, but without significant influence on turnover intention. Conclusions: This research has filled the gap and highlighted the importance of overall organizational commitment among employees in logistics activities, emphasizing affective commitment. It was confirmed that an emotional connection with the organization is of particular importance to retain employees in the organization. Organizations’ investment in building and strengthening long-term affective commitment is time-consuming and seeks for interpersonal skills for managers, which could be neglected in logistics activities focused on flow improvement.
Ze względu na zmieniające się warunki, wynikające z globalnej pandemii oraz dynamicznie zmieniającej się rzeczywistości, w której działa łańcuch dostaw żywności, pracownicy logistyki stają się bardzo ważnych zasobem. Przedsiębiorstwa są zmuszone do ciągłego monitorowania i estymowania poziomu zadowolenia zatrudnionych. Celem pracy jest zbadanie wpływu zaangażowania organizacyjnego na zmianę nastawienia wśród pracowników logistyki przedsiębiorstw działających w obrębie łańcucha dostaw żywności. Choć wpływ ten jest raczej niepodlegający dyskusji, to głównym celem jest określenie siły korelacji i zdefiniowanie dominującego czynnika wpływającego na zmianę nastawienia. Metody: Podstawowa analiza empiryczna została przeprowadzona na próbie 121 zatrudnionych pracujących na stanowiskach logistycznych w 5 przedsiębiorstwach działających w łańcuchach dostaw żywności w Chorwacji. Skala zmian nastawienia oraz zaangażowania organizacyjnego zostały użyte do zmierzenia efektu wpływu zaangażowania organizacyjnego na zmianę nastawienia pracowników. Dla przeprowadzenia analizy regresji i modelowania strukturalnego SEM, zostało użyte oprogramowanie SPSS 21.0 oraz AMOS 21.0. Wyniki: W wyniki przetestowania proponowanego modelu strukturalnego, otrzymano wyniki zmiany nastawienia w wysokości 43,4%, a po uwzględnieniu typu aktywności oraz miesięcznego poziomu pensji jako zmiennych kontrolnych, 44,5%. Silny, bezpośredni, istotny i negatywny wpływ organizacyjnego zaangażowania na zmianę nastawienia pracowników został udowodniony, podczas gdy nie wykazano istotnego wpływu dla standardowego zaangażowania. Zmienne kontrolne poprawiły model ale bez istotnego wpływu na zmianę nastawienia. Wnioski: Praca wypełnia lukę w prowadzonych badaniach i zwraca uwagę na istotność zaangażowania organizacyjnego dla pracowników logistyki, podkreślając istotę zaangażowania emocjonalnego. Zostało potwierdzone, że emocjonalna więź w obrębie organizacji pomaga utrzymać zatrudnionych. Inwestycja organizacji w budowaniu i wzmacnianiu długoterminowego emocjonalnego zaangażowania wymaga sporo czasu i konieczności wśród kierownictwa umiejętności interpersonalnych, które mogą być lekceważone w obrębie działalności logistycznej skupionej na poprawie przepływów.

Objectives Over the last 20 years, tertiary institutions have been subjected to several changes. This has resulted in increased workloads for academics. Some academics have started to experience symptoms that are related to chronic fatigue syndrome and burnout. Researchers, however, cannot agree whether the 2 syndromes are two sides of the same coin or actually 2 separate constructs. This study that was conducted at a tertiary institution in South Africa therefore aimed to determine if these constructs accounted for the evidence of the same syndrome within an academic setting or if they were 2 separate, distinguishable constructs. However, since job satisfaction and social support play a role in the poor physical and psychological health experienced by individuals with chronic fatigue syndrome or burnout, it was decided to also include these 2 constructs into the investigation. Age was also incorporated because it had dissimilar relationships with burnout and chronic fatigue syndrome. Material and Methods The participants completed the following questionnaires via an online survey: the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Symptom Inventory, the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory, the Overall Job Satisfaction Scale and the Social Support Scale. The data was used for constructing a structural equation model. Results Job satisfaction was found to be a strong predictor of burnout. The number of symptoms indicative of chronic fatigue syndrome reported by the participants proved to be a relatively strong significant predictor of burnout. Age did not yield any significant relationship with any of the constructs. Conclusions The results indicated that chronic fatigue and burnout should be perceived as 2 distinguishable constructs in the academic context. Research background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, public sector entities encountered extraordinary difficulties in maintaining the delivery of public services. They were ill-equipped to operate in the unpredictable circumstances of the pandemic, causing a significant impact on the accessibility and quality of public services. This scenario also highlighted the importance of the resilience of the public sector, which entails an organization's capacity to function in a crisis setting and uncover opportunities that might not have been evident during normal circumstances. Purpose of the article: This study aims to assess development trends within public sector resilience and their impact on the quality of public services. As resilience is realized through a three-phase prism - i.e., Planning, Adaptation, and Enhanced Learning - we hypothesize that Adaptation is endogenously interrelated with Planning and positively affects Enhanced Learning, which in turn positively impacts Service Quality. Methods: Two successive surveys were carried out to examine the links between organizational resilience and Service Quality in the public sector. The first involved interviewing 401 senior managers of the organizations that provide public services in Lithuania to assess their level of organizational resilience. The second survey involved questioning individuals aged 18 and above who had used the services of the previously surveyed organizations. In total, 3,609 public service users were interviewed to gather data on Service Quality. Structural equation modeling was performed to analyze the data collected. Findings & value added: The results of structural equation modeling revealed that Enhanced Learning positively and significantly affects Service Quality. The findings of this study suggest that the bounce-back stage of organizational resilience, i.e., Adaptation, indirectly affects Service Quality through the bounce-forward stage, i.e., Enhanced Learning. Thus, Enhanced Learning acts both as an accelerator of Service Quality and as a moderator of the effect that other stages of organizational resilience have on Service Quality. The primary contribution of this article is its discovery that Service Quality develops from Enhanced Learning, implying that the optimal approach to service provision is based on both newly acquired knowledge and experience gained during challenging times. This enables organizations to transform their service delivery in response to the realities of changing circumstances, thereby creating opportunities to prepare for future challenges from the standpoint of a new equilibrium.

Achieving competitive advantage enables an organization to create a defensible position against its competitors. It also allows organizations to differentiate themselves from competitors. This study aims to investigate impact of knowledge management practices on supply chain quality management and competitive advantage in Alyaf Company, Iran. This research is functional in purpose and data gathering and data analysis is descriptive-correlation. The statistical population is consists of 25 company executives and experts in the supply chain of Alyaf Company; opinions of 68 of its members were used as a selective sample identified by simple random sampling method. Primary data was collected through questionnaire and structural equation modeling was used to assess relationships between variables. The results of structural equation modeling show a positive and significant causal relationship between knowledge management practices and supply chain quality management. Direct relationship between knowledge management and competitive advantage was not confirmed but the relationship between these two variables was confirmed indirectly.

Aim/purpose – The study was based on social exchange theory and addressed the effects of firm-based organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) on normative and continuance organizational commitment (OC). Multigroup behavioral differences among pharmaceutical executives were also evaluated. Design/methodology/approach – This study employed an empirical, explanatory cross-sectional study with online questionnaires administered to four hundred and one randomly selected pharmaceutical executives in Nigeria. The covariance-based structural equation modeling technique was used for testing hypotheses. Firm-based OCB domains –conscientiousness, sportsmanship, and civic virtue were regressed on OC domains of continuance, and normative. The hypothesized effects of firm-based OCB on the domains of OC were examined using Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS). Findings – The structural model had acceptable fit measures. Conscientiousness and sportsmanship behaviors were negatively related to normative OC while civic virtue had a positive significant relationship with normative OC. Multigroup comparisons based on gender, profession, and type of organization revealed significant effects on the relations between civic virtue and normative OC. Employees highly vested with enhancing and representing their company’s image, tend to be more obligated to continue and remain with the organization. The more self-directed, and less-complaining employees are, the lower the tendency to remain with the organization. The nuances of group differences among employees had an impact on examined relationships. Research implications/limitations – Human resource managers should adequately stimulate and motivate employees to be ambassadors of the organization. This is achievable by instilling a sense of ownership and loyalty in employees. Further implications are discussed. Originality/value/contribution – The study disentangled the relations between OCB and OC in the context of pharmaceutical executives in a developing country. The study highlighted the essence of group-specific differences in behavioral evaluation among pharmaceutical executives.

This study investigated the effects of family socioeconomic status on children’s academic performance as mediated by their home environment and children’s characteristics, with special attention to gender differences. Structural modeling was applied to a nationally representative Czech Household Panel Survey data (2015/2016). The results revealed that socioeconomic status had no significant direct effects on school performance after controlling for other family aspects. The effects of parental education and income were transmitted by parents’ aspirations for their children, positive parenting, and literacy environment. Home environment, in turn, affected children’s aspirations, general well-being, and interest in books, which directly enhanced children’s school grades. Indeed, children’s characteristics were found to be the strongest predictors of their school performance. The gender analyses showed that the effects of parental characteristics were directly related to boys’ achievement; however, for girls, the effects of parental characteristics operated indirectly through girls’ aspirations, well-being, and interest in books.

Opis:
Purpose: The present study aims to identify the critical factors of supply chain finance and the interrelationship between the factors using interpretive structural modeling. Methodology: Factors of supply chain finance were identified from the literature and experts from both industry and academia were consulted to assess the contextual relationships between the factors. Then, we applied interpretive structural modeling to examine the interrelationships between these factors and find out the critical factors. Findings: The model outcome indicates information sharing and workforce to be the most influential factors, followed by the automation of trade and financial attractiveness. Originality/value: Previous literature identified various factors that influence supply chain finance. However, studies showing interrelationships between these factors are lacking. This study is unique in the field as it applies total interpretive structural modeling for assessing the factors that affect supply chain finance. Our model will aid practitioners’ decision-making and the adoption of supply chain finance by providing a necessary framework.

Opis:
The main purpose of the paper is structural identification of heating system based, algorithm development. Two-circuit diagram example was used to obtain the most appropriate algorithm. Then, it can be used as a base for heating system structural identification.
Głównym celem pracy jest opracowanie adaptacyjnego algorytmu sterowania, bazującego na identyfikacji strukturalnej systemu ogrzewania. Do analiz użyto przykładowy schemat z dwoma obwodami. Zaproponowane rozwiązanie może być zastosowane jako podstawa do identyfikacji całego systemu grzewczego.

The aim of this study was to describe and characterize the relationships between yielding factors and grain yield per doubled haploid (DH) plant of spring barley as well as relation between yield components and duration of each stage of plant development. To describe these relations structure equation modeling was used. The study included plants of doubled haploid spring barley lines (Hordeum vulgare L.) derived from tworowed form of Scarlett cultivar. The SAS® system was used to analyze the model of relationships between grain yield per plant and yield components. Our results indicate that the number of spikes per plant and grain yield per spike had a direct and decisive influence on the grain yield of the investigated DH plants of spring barley. Based on the path model analysis it was found that the most important factor determining grain yield per DH plants of spring barley was the number of spikes per plant and the duration of tillering and shooting stages.
