Opis:
Students' autonomy in learning is becoming more important in education. An ethnographic research study was conducted on institutional strategies for student autonomy in secondary schools in China, having found a paradoxical issue that is the "quality education" in the curriculum and teaching for testing system in China's secondary schools. We propose developing students' autonomy to resolve this paradoxical issue. Schools are applying some strategies in developing students' autonomy, such as strict schedules and motivating students in learning. Although these strategies may increase students' willingness to learn to some extent, the drawbacks are obvious. Schools need to adopt other strategies to develop students' autonomy to a higher level.

This paper focuses on the strict norms one encounters primarily in conservative religious groups. Such precepts regulate the behavior of their members, distinguishing them from the social environment. There is a view that strict norms resolve the “free-rider problem” and foster more profound commitment of the believers. It seems, however, that such stricture is part of a more universal mechanism, which is involved in the process of social categorization. The norms establish a clear division between “us” and “others,” enhancing the bond with the group. Attempt has been made to verify this conjecture based on the data from a survey by the Pew Research Center concerned with American Jews.

It is proved that \((C_b (X) , \Beta)\) has a spectral synthesis, i.e. every of its closed ideals is an intersection of closed maximal ideals of codimension 1. We give one necessary and two sufficient conditions over \(X\) in order that \((C_b (X) , \Beta)\) has no proper non-zero closed principal ideals. Moreover if \(X\) satisfy any of these two conditions and is also a k-space, then any non zero element of \(C_b(X)\) is invertible or a topological divisor of zero.

Opis:
The aim of the study is to analyze changes in the species composition and in the diameter structure of the main forest−building species in the Roztocze National Park (central−eastern Poland). The research was carried out on 315 permanent monitoring plots. The range of collected data included: type of protection (strict and active protection), forest site type, tree species and their dbh (>7 cm over bark). Measurements and observations were made in 2007 and repeated in 2017. There was a significant reduction in the number of all tree species, except of beech Fagus sylvatica, regardless the protection status. Despite this, the basal area for the strict and active protection zone was similar both in 2007 (37.77 and 36.39 m2/ha, respectively) and 2017 (37.17 and 37.85 m2/ha, respectively). In the whole park, the number of large trees (mainly beeches) with high individual basal area increased, while the number of young generations of all species decreased. In the strict protection zone, the admixture species (decrease by 27.3%), as well as hornbeam Carpinus betulus (decrease by 22.8%), are not particularly competitive with beech. A similar tendency, although mitigated by active silvicultural treatments, was also observed in the active protection zone, in which admixture species have lost 24.8% while hornbeam 16.2%. In the strict protection area, there was a significant reduction in the number of fir Abies alba (by 14%). In the active protection zone fir increased its range and basal area, and maintains its population practically unchanged. There was also a decrease in the number of young generations, as evidenced by changes in the frequency in the 7−16 cm dbh class. The highest level of reduction in this class was found for pine Pinus sylvestris (by 64.8%), rare species (40.4%), hornbeam (31.2%), oak Quercus robur (26.6%), and spruce Picea abies (20.5%). Only beech increased the abundance in this class (by 1.4%) as well as in the next 17−26 cm class (even by 14.2%). The presented significant changes in the species composition and structure of basal area of the stands in the Roztocze National Park that occurred in the 10−year period, indicate a significant role of tending cuts in maintaining proper species composition, appropriate diameter structure of stands, their stability of natural richness and high level of diversity of forest ecosystems.

For a ring A with an involution *, the zero-divisor graph of A, Γ*(A), is the graph whose vertices are the nonzero left zero-divisors in A such that distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if and only if xy* = 0. In this paper, we study the zero-divisor graph of a Rickart *-ring having no nonzero nilpotent element. The distance, diameter, and cycles of Γ*(A) are characterized in terms of the collection of prime strict ideals of A. In fact, we prove that the clique number of Γ*(A) coincides with the cellularity of the hullkernel topological space Σ(A) of the set of prime strict ideals of A, where cellularity of the topological space is the smallest cardinal number m such that every family of pairwise disjoint non-empty open subsets of the space have cardinality at most m.

The clubs legal responsibility for the behavior of supporters is used by UEFA to in-fluence the content of sports competitions, ideally abstracted from demonstrating by spectators any non-football ideas. Nevertheless, the regulation of the national associa-tions-members of UEFA also assumes the responsibility of the clubs and, sometimes, the supporters themselves for the unacceptable behavior of the latter. The experience of regulation this issue by the Austrian Football Association demonstrates mentioned approach. Therefore, it is interesting to make a comparison: how much the regulated responsibility of supporters affects to the regulation by the association a strict liability of clubs for the behavior of fans. Using the practice of CAS, we may see a presumptive approach on the basis of an assessment of the situation by “a reasonable and objective observer” for the objective resolution of a dispute.

This paper introduces the logics of super-strict implications, where a super-strict implication is a strengthening of C.I. Lewis' strict implication that avoids not only the paradoxes of material implication but also those of strict implication. The semantics of super-strict implications is obtained by strengthening the (normal) relational semantics for strict implication. We consider all logics of super-strict implications that are based on relational frames for modal logics in the modal cube. it is shown that all logics of super-strict implications are connexive logics in that they validate Aristotle's Theses and (weak) Boethius's Theses. A proof-theoretic characterisation of logics of super-strict implications is given by means of G3-style labelled calculi, and it is proved that the structural rules of inference are admissible in these calculi. It is also shown that validity in the S5-based logic of super-strict implications is equivalent to validity in G. Priest's negation-as-cancellation-based logic. Hence, we also give a cut-free calculus for Priest's logic.

In 1791 two former political allies reached opposite conclusions on the constitutionality of chartering a national bank to serve the Federal government of the United States. Alexander Hamilton, who was then Secretary of the Treasury, argued that the U.S. Constitution conferred limited, but essentially bottomless, powers to Congress in pursuit of the public good. James Madison, at that time an elected member of the U.S. House of Representatives, argued that powers conferred on Congress were limited in number, and reach, by conventions that ratified the Constitution in 1787–1788. Hamilton won the battle on the bank, but lost the war, as Madison’s strict construction of the Constitution in terms of the understanding of those who ratify, and amend, it prevailed in the long run. The broad construction favored by Hamilton has rarely carried the day in American jurisprudence.

The research covered 46 areas (each 400 sq.m) located in nine regions of the Kampinos National Park. This research is the result of field work carried out three times in years: 2007, 2012 and 2018. Dead wood measurements are one of the elements of testing on solid surfaces, which also includes vegetation, soil and stand. The average dead wood content in the Kampinos National Park over the past 11 years on long-term surfaces increased by 53% (from averages 35.59 m3/ha in 2007 to 54.37 m3/ha in 2018). Areas located in strictly protected zones showed greater abundance of dead wood in relation to the surface in active protection, and this difference is significant. On the surfaces covered by both forms of protection, during 11 years of research an increase in dead wood resources was noted, but only in areas covered by active protection it was statistically significant. In terms of the type of stand, oak stands with the average thickness of standing and lying wood in 2018 amounting to 110.70 m3/ha are the richest in dead wood, and the poorest pine stands with an average of 20.07 m3/ha. The results obtained on solid surfaces indicate a much greater richness of dead wood in the forests of the Kampinos National Park compared to the lowland state forests. However, due to the relatively small number of areas covered by the study, this work contributes to the knowledge of dead wood resources in this area and does not exhaust the need for a complete inventory.
