Opis:
Undoubtedly, the river transport is very important in tektites distribution. Most of the moldavites are located in fluvial sediments, what indicates their redeposition origin. Similar situation is on the territory of Poland. Finding of the autochthonous Polish tektites seems very difficult and requires further fieldworks.

A tektite is a rare natural glass that forms when an extra-terrestrial body struck the Earth. Tektites can be found in at least five widely separated locations on Earth, which are called strewn fields. There are four known strewn fields: the 35.5 Ma North American strewn field (linked to the Chesapeake crater, North America), the 14.4 Ma Central European strewn field (linked to the Ries crater in Germany), the Ivory Coast strewn field of unknown age (linked to the Bosumtwi crater in Ghana, West Africa), and the 0.8 Ma Australasian strewn field (source crater still unknown, although a large crater in Western Cambodia, Lake Tonle Sap, has been proposed). The last strewn field is known for the distribution of the biggest tektite group (i.e., philippinites, billitonites, javanites, indochinites). A tektite on Havelock Island in India, has also been recently identified. This is the first tektite reported from the Andaman and Nicobar islands. This tektite is composed of indochinite, having a typical dark colour and diagnostic chemical composition. Morphologically, a lack of cracks and abraded edges, both indicate short transport and rapid shallow burial.

New meteorite prospections at different places in the region of Imilchil showed that (1) besides the Ataxite of Tasraft all the other collected specimens belong to the same and only IIAB iron mother meteorite (2) the strewn field of the meteorite has a length of about 38 km into north-south direction (3) the small crater of Agoudal as well as the impact crater of Isli are situated on a parallel north-south axis, if not put together with the strewn field of the Imilchil meteorite (4) these two structures might be the result of the fall of the same and only mother meteorite of the IIAB type.

In Lower Silesia, the first Polish moldavites were discovered. To recognize the primary chemical composition and check the morphology of investigated material SE and BSE images were used. The samples show presence of vesicles, which are one of the most typical features of tektite glass. Referring to the preliminary EDS results and comparing them with literature data, it can be assumed that in all cases the base material for all known moldavites was the same.

Opis:
The moldavites are Miocene tektites foundin Central Europe. Their presence in the Badenian sediments are rare due to fluvial reworking in the area. In the clay sediments of the Poznań Formation, in the Dębina profile, one moldavite was found, which is the fourth tektite from these sediments from Poland. It had dimensions of 14 X 10 X 8 mm and a weight of 1.03 gram. The glass surface was richly ornamented, and indicates a quick deposition, without any long-distance fluvial abrasion. Currently, depending on the age ofthe sediments in which they occur, two substrewn fields of Ries-same-age and redeposited moldavites were characterized in SW Poland.

Opis:
Tektites in the sedimentary recordare subject to many geological processes such as fluvial reworking. To observe the glass behaviour during reworking, an experiment was conducted in the Lusatia Neisse river where moldavites are found. It consisted in observing the progressive abrasion of some 500 tektites over reworking distances of 100, 200, 300, and 400 km respectively. The results clearly show that moldavites could survive reworkingover a distance of several hundreds km. The decrease in weight was linear in relation to the distance travelled. Regardless of the initial shape, all tektites became rounded with a smooth surface after travelling 200 km. The experimental results suggest that European tektites were ejected from the Ries crater over distances reaching up to 600 km and were then reworked over short distances from the origin areas of the current substrewn fields.

Opis:
The Morasko meteorite is currently one of the biggest tourist attractions of the city of Poznań. In this paper we present the stages of creating documentation for finds of individual fragments of the Morasko meteorite, conducted at the Institute of Geology, Adam Mickiewicz University, in 2011-2014. During the initial period of documentary work, the focus was mainly on the compilation of topographic maps prepared by various authors to create one collective map of finds. ESRI (ArcGIS) software was used to prepare the documentation. The main problem at the initial stage of documentation was the coordination of source data prepared on topographic bases developed in various reference systems (PUWG 65, PUWG 92, tourist map without any system). During the years 2012-2014, topographic data were successively supplemented with new finds, resulting in a database comprising a total of 1413 items - containing coordinates, data on individual finders, masses (given as a range or as specific data in grams), depths at which meteorites rested, and, in some cases, special features (so-called shrapnel). The obtained documentation is a unique source of data on most of the fragments of the Morasko meteorite. It remains debatable whether the collected information is sufficient to calculate a reliable meteorite strewn field.

The Tissint fireball is the only fireball to have been observed and reported by numerous witnesses across the south-east of Morocco. The event was extremely valuable to the scientific community; show an extraordinary and rare event and were also the brightest and most comprehensively observed fireball in Morocco’s known astronomical history. Since the abstract of A. Ibhi (2011) [1]. In 1012-2013 concerning a number of Martian meteorite fragments found in the region of Tata (Morocco), a number of expeditions have been made to the area. A. ibhi has done a great amount of field work. He discovered the strewn field and collected the fragments of this Martian meteorite and many information. Each expedition has had the effect of expanding the size of the strewn field which is now documented to cover more than 70 sq. kilometers. The size of the strewn field is now estimated to be about a 17 km long.
