    Opis:
    Marchuk's model of an immune reaction is a system of differential equations with a time delay. The aim of this paper is to study the behaviour of solutions to Marchuk's model depending upon the delay of immune reaction and the history of an illness. We study Marchuk's model without delays, with aconstant delay and with an infinite delay. A continuous dependence on thedelay is considered. Bifurcation points are found using computer simulations.

    Opis:
    The article describes the process of unsteady heat transfer that occurs between the impletion of regenerative heat exchanger and the surrounding air. A mathematical model of this phenomenon and its exemplary solution using the method of elementary balances were presented. Numerical calculations using Mathcad were applied. As a result, the set temperature field is formed in the heat exchanger wall. The influence of the geometrical dimensions (length of the filling) and air velocity on the temperature distribution in the fill were analysed.

    Distributions of mechanical and thermal stresses in a plunger of the high pressure die casting machine with a horizontal shot sleeve have been considered for a flat thermal stationary problem. An axial pressure of the plunger pressing in the technological process has been accounted for as well. Principal and equivalent stresses have been determined within two different hypotheses on the strength of materials, including one theory covering various allowable stresses in tension and compression. Four plunger material variants have been analysed.

    This paper describes a process for the non-stationary heat transfer that occurs between the vertical ground heat exchanger, surrounded by grout and the surrounding ground. Mathematical model of this phenomenon and its exemplary solution using the method of elementary balances were presented. Numerical calculations were performed using Mathcad. As a result, the set temperature field is formed in the wall of the heat exchanger, in the grout and also in the ground surrounding the U-tube and the amount of heat extracted from ground in the case of not including the occurrence of filling and using a variety of commonly used grouts.

    Opis:
    In the first part of the article, an investigation of an open Markov queueing network with positive and negative customers (G-networks) has been carried out. The network receives two exponential arrivals of positive and negative customers. Negative customers do not receive service. The waiting time of customers of both types in each system is bounded by a random variable having an exponential distribution with different parameters. When the waiting time of a negative customer in the queue is over it reduces the number of positive customers per unit if the system has positive customers. The Kolmogorov system of difference-differential equations for non-stationary state probabilities has been derived. The method for finding state probabilities of an investigated network, based on the use of apparatus of multidimensional generating functions has been proposed. Expressions for finding the mean number of positive and negative customers in the network systems have also been found. In the second part the same network has been investigated, but with revenues. The case when revenues from the network transitions between states are random variables with given mean values has been considered. A method for finding expected revenues of the network systems has been proposed. Obtained results may be used for modeling of computer viruses in information systems and networks and also for forecasting of costs, considering the viruses penetration.

    This article discusses the question of restarting the script, when restart is used by many users of the information network, which can be modelled as a G-network. Negative claims simulate the crash of the script and the re-sending of the request. Investigation of an open queuing network (QN) with several types of positive customers with the phase type of distribution of their service time and one type of negative customers have been carried out. Negative customers are signals whose effect is to restart one customers in a queue. A technique is proposed for finding the probability of states. It is based on the use of a modified method of successive approximations, combined with the method of a series. The successive approximations converge with time to a stationary distribution of state probabilities, the form of which is indicated in the article, and the sequence of approximations converges to the solution of the difference-differential equations (DDE) system. The uniqueness of this solution is proved. Any successive approximation is representable in the form of a convergent power series with an infinite radius of convergence, the coefficients of which satisfy recurrence relations, which is convenient for computer calculations. A model example illustrating the finding of time-dependent probabilities of network states using the proposed technique is also presented.

    In the article a queueing network (QN) with positive customers and a random waiting time of negative customers has been investigated. Negative customers destroy positive customers on the expiration of a random time. Queueing systems (QS) operate under a heavy-traffic regime. The system of difference-differential equations (DDE) for state probabilities of such a network was obtained. The technique of solving this system and finding mean characteristics of the network, which is based on the use of multivariate generating functions was proposed.

    For several decades the problem of common goods has been intensively discussed and studied not only by economists, but also by politicians. One particular field of study concerns the problem of social choices realized by collective decisions, or rather individual decisions within some social collective (group). Several analytical models of using common-pool resources are proposed. Most approaches adopted within welfare economics are restricted to the maxim of this part of economics, i.e. to the maximization of the utility function. It was however discovered a long time ago that social interactions may play a significant role. In particular, aversion to inequality can be taken into account as the quantitative manifestation of the human sense of justice. Based on a simple binary choice model it is shown in this paper that by including social interactions into the decisional system of using a common-good resource, it is possible to reveal many stationary states (system multistability). Some of these stationary states may be more, and some others less beneficial from the global point of view. In this paper we investigate the eventual differences introduced by different forms of interactions between individuals. The status of the so-called mean-field approach is also examined.

    Zarówno metody matematyczne jak i symulacyjne mają ograniczenia jeśli chodzi o ocenę stacjonarnej dostępności operacyjnej. Te pierwsze zakładają, że popyt jest niezależny od systemu operacyjnego, co może skutkować niedoszacowaniem dostępności operacyjnej. Te drugie wymagają dużej liczby prób, aby uzyskać wyniki o wystarczającym stopniu ufności w warunkach wcześniej określonych scenariuszy. Niniejszy artykuł zajmuje się problemem określenia stacjonarnej dostępności operacyjnej na podstawie modeli matematycznych. Proponowany model bierze pod uwagę wiele czynników, wliczając w to pasywację systemu, specyfi kację wymagań, parametry projektowe systemu, liczbę działających systemów, czas realizacji oraz czas obsługi. Artykuł przedstawia metodę aproksymacji dostępności operacyjnej. Użyty przykład ilustruje związek pomiędzy wyżej wspomnianymi czynnikami. Doświadczenia numeryczne pokazują, że model ten jest zgodny z wynikami symulacji Monte Carlo, potwierdzając realność i racjonalność proponowanej metody.
    Both mathematical and simulation methods have limitations for evaluation of stationary operational availability. The former assumes that demand is independent of the operating system, which can result in underestimation of the operational availability. The latter requires a large number of trials to obtain the results with a suffi cient degree of confi dence under the pre-specifi ed scenarios. This paper addresses the issue of determining the stationary operational availability based on mathematical models. The proposed model considers many factors including system passivation, mission requirements, system design parameters, the number of working systems, lead time, and maintenance time. An approximation method to the operational availability is given. Specifi c example is used to illustrate the relationship among the aforementioned factors. Numerical experiments show that the model agrees well with Monte Carlo simulation results and the feasibility and rationality of the proposed method are validated.
