BACKGROUND During half time or breaks in play cryotherapy is often applied for analgesia for minor musculoskeletal sport injury, however the effect of cryotherapy on dynamic stability is debated. A risk factor for further lower limb injury may be heightened due to a reduction in dynamic postural stability. OBJECTIVES The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effects of wetted-ice applied for 20-minutes at the ankle on dynamic stability using the star excursion balance test, immediately-post exposure and over a rewarming period of 30-minutes. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-two healthy male athletes that regular took part in land-based sport were assessed on reach directions of Anterior (Ant), Posteromedial (PM), and Posterolateral (PL) using the modified star excursion balance test (mSEBT) on the non-dominant limb. Thermal imaging quantified skin surface temperature (Tsk) over lateral and medial regions. Participants were tested pre-intervention, exposed to 15-minutes wetted-ice cryotherapy application, immediately-post and up to 30-minutes post intervention at 10-minute intervals. RESULTS Significant decreases in Tsk over the medial and lateral regions of the ankle (p < 0.05) not returning to pre-cooling temperatures at 30-minutes post. Significant decrease in reach -distance scores (ANT, PL and PM) pre-immediately post and at 10, 20 and 30-minutes post cryotherapy exposure. CONCLUSION Following wetted ice application to the non-dominant ankle, dynamic postural stability was adversely affected for up to 30-minutes post exposure demonstrated through a decrease in reach scores for ANT, PL and PM directions. Functional performance which requires stabilising mechanisms may be negatively affected and contribute to a heightened risk of injury or further injury in consideration of the findings.

Opis:
Pedestrian infrastructures are a critical part of the sustainable transportation system of a city across the world. The key risks to pedestrians are well documented, including infrastructure in terms of the lack of dedicated pedestrian facilities, such as sidewalks, crossings, and raised medians. This paper aimed to assess pedestrian infrastructures of the road transport system in Jimma city. The P-index (Pedestrian-index) method was used to evaluate pedestrian infrastructures, computed with the formula containing the four pedestrian indicators: mobility, safety, pedestrian facility, and accessibility indicator. For this method, sixteen road segments were selected. The result of the mobility indicator shows that the star rating obtained was two stars, which means impaired mobility for the pedestrian. For safety, a 1-star of star-rating was obtained, indicating that the road segments were very unsafe. For the facility indicator, the star-rating value was 2-star which shows inadequate pedestrian facility. For the accessibility indicator, two star-rating was obtained, meaning there was poor accessibility to land uses by walking. Overall P-index value has got a 2-star rating that, which indicates that the existing roads were unfavorable to a pedestrian walking.

Opis:
For an integer k ≥ 2, a k-tree T is defined as a tree with maximum degree at most k. If a k-tree T spans a graph G, then T is called a spanning k-tree of G. Since a spanning 2-tree is a Hamiltonian path, a spanning k-tree is an extended concept of a Hamiltonian path. The first result, implying the existence of k-trees in star-free graphs, was by Caro, Krasikov, and Roditty in 1985, and independently, Jackson and Wormald in 1990, who proved that for any integer k with k ≥ 3, every connected K1,k-free graph contains a spanning k-tree. In this paper, we focus on a sharp condition that guarantees the existence of a spanning k-tree in K1,k+1-free graphs. In particular, we show that every connected K1,k+1-free graph G has a spanning k-tree if the degree sum of any 3k−3 independent vertices in G is at least |G|−2, where |G| is the order of G.

In 1940, in attempts to solve the Four Color Problem, Henry Lebesgue gave an approximate description of the neighborhoods of 5-vertices in the class P5 of 3-polytopes with minimum degree 5. This description depends on 32 main parameters. (6, 6, 7, 7, 7), (6, 6, 6, 7, 9), (6, 6, 6, 6, 11), (5, 6, 7, 7, 8), (5, 6, 6, 7, 12), (5, 6, 6, 8, 10), (5, 6, 6, 6, 17), (5, 5, 7, 7, 13), (5, 5, 7, 8, 10), (5, 5, 6, 7, 27), (5, 5, 6, 6, ∞), (5, 5, 6, 8, 15), (5, 5, 6, 9, 11), (5, 5, 5, 7, 41), (5, 5, 5, 8, 23), (5, 5, 5, 9, 17), (5, 5, 5, 10, 14), (5, 5, 5, 11, 13) Not many precise upper bounds on these parameters have been obtained as yet, even for restricted subclasses in P5. In 2018, Borodin, Ivanova, Kazak proved that every forbidding vertices of degree from 7 to 11 results in a tight description (5, 5, 6, 6, ∞), (5, 6, 6, 6, 15), (6, 6, 6, 6, 6). Recently, Borodin, Ivanova, and Kazak proved every 3-polytope in P5 with no vertices of degrees 6, 7, and 8 has a 5-vertex whose neighborhood is majorized by one of the sequences (5, 5, 5, 5, ∞) and (5, 5, 10, 5, 12), which is tight and improves a corresponding description (5, 5, 5, 5, ∞), (5, 5, 9, 5, 17), (5, 5, 10, 5, 14), (5, 5, 11, 5, 13) that follows from the Lebesgue Theorem. The purpose of this paper is to prove that every 3-polytope with minimum degree 5 and no vertices of degree 6 or 7 has a 5-vertex whose neighborhood is majorized by one of the ordered sequences (5, 5, 5, 5, ∞), (5, 5, 8, 5, 14), or (5, 5, 10, 5, 12).

A nowhere-zero unoriented flow of graph G is an assignment of non-zero real numbers to the edges of G such that the sum of the values of all edges incident with each vertex is zero. Let k be a natural number. A nowhere-zero unoriented k-flow is a flow with values from the set {±1, . . ., ±(k − 1)}, for short we call it NZ-unoriented k-flow. Let H1 and H2 be two graphs, H1⊕H2 denote the 2-sum of H1 and H2, if E(H1⊕H2) = E(H1) ∪ E(H2), |V(H1)∩V(H2)|=2, and |E(H1)∩E(H2)| = 1. A triangle-path in a graph G is a sequence of distinct triangles T1, T2, . . ., Tm in G such that for 1 ≤ i ≤ m, |E(Ti)∩E(Ti+1)| = 1 and E(Ti)∩E(Tj)=∅ if j>i+1. A triangle-star is a graph with triangles such that each triangle having one common edges with other triangles. Let G be a graph which can be partitioned into some triangle-paths or wheels H1, H2, . . ., Ht such that G = H1⊕H2⊕...⊕Ht. In this paper, we prove that G except a triangle-star admits an NZ-unoriented 6-flow. Moreover, if each Hi is a triangle-path, then G except a triangle-star admits an NZ-unoriented 5-flow.

It is known that the spectrum of the spectral Sturm–Liouville problem on an equilateral tree with (generalized) Neumann’s conditions at all vertices uniquely determines the potentials on the edges in the unperturbed case, i.e. case of the zero potentials on the edges (Ambarzumian’s theorem). This case is exceptional, and in general case (when the Dirichlet conditions are imposed at some of the pendant vertices) even two spectra of spectral problems do not determine uniquely the potentials on the edges. We consider the spectral Sturm–Liouville problem on an equilateral tree rooted at its pendant vertex with (generalized) Neumann conditions at all vertices except of the root and the Dirichlet condition at the root. In this case Ambarzumian’s theorem can’t be applied. We show that if the spectrum of this problem is unperturbed, the spectrum of the Neumann-Dirichlet problem on the root edge is also unperturbed and the spectra of the problems on the complimentary subtrees with (generalized) Neumann conditions at all vertices except the subtrees’ roots and the Dirichlet condition at the subtrees’ roots are unperturbed then the potential on each edge of the tree is 0 almost everywhere.

We introduce a new notion of circular colourings for digraphs. The idea of this quantity, called star dichromatic number $ \vec{\chi}^\ast (D) $ of a digraph $D$, is to allow a finer subdivision of digraphs with the same dichromatic number into such which are “easier” or “harder” to colour by allowing fractional values. This is related to a coherent notion for the vertex arboricity of graphs introduced in [G. Wang, S. Zhou, G. Liu and J. Wu, Circular vertex arboricity, J. Discrete Appl. Math. 159 (2011) 1231–1238] and resembles the concept of the star chromatic number of graphs introduced by Vince in [15] in the framework of digraph colouring. After presenting basic properties of the new quantity, including range, simple classes of digraphs, general inequalities and its relation to integer counterparts as well as other concepts of fractional colouring, we compare our notion with the notion of circular colourings for digraphs introduced in [D. Bokal, G. Fijavz, M. Juvan, P.M. Kayll and B. Mohar, The circular chromatic number of a digraph, J. Graph Theory 46 (2004) 227–224] and point out similarities as well as differences in certain situations. As it turns out, the star dichromatic number shares all positive characteristics with the circular dichromatic number of Bokal et al., but has the advantage that it depends on the strong components of the digraph only, while the addition of a dominating source raises the circular dichromatic number to the ceiling. We conclude with a discussion of the case of planar digraphs and point out some open problems.

W artykule opisano wpływ podwojenia liczby faz w silniku synchronicznym z magnesami trwałymi na wybrane parametry elektryczne i mechaniczne silnika, na przykładzie silnika napędu eKIT przeznaczonego dla elektrycznie napędzanych pojazdów dostawczych o dopuszczalnej masie całkowitej do 3.5 t i mobilnych maszyn specjalnych. Szczegółowo przedstawiono konstrukcję uzwojenia w wariancie 3-fazowym i sposób przekształcenia 3-fazowego uzwojenia symetrycznego w dwugwiazdowe asymetryczne uzwojenie 6-fazowe. Następnie przedstawiono wyniki obliczeń elektromagnetycznych i porównano wybrane parametry elektryczne i mechaniczne silników w wariantach z 3- i 6-fazowym uzwojeniem twornika.
The article describes the effect of doubling the number of phases in a permanent magnet synchronous motor on selected electrical and mechanical parameters of the motor, based on the example of an eKIT drive motor intended for electrically driven delivery vehicles with a total weight of up to 3.5 t and special mobile machines. The construction of the winding in the 3-phase variant and the method of transforming a 3-phase symmetrical winding into a double-star asymmetric 6-phase winding are presented in detail. Then, the results of electromagnetic calculations are presented and selected electrical and mechanical parameters of motors in variants with 3- and 6- phase armature windings are compared.

Artykuł przedstawia czasopismo „Nowa Jutrzenka” wychodzące w Bychawie w latach 1908–1924, założone i redagowane przez ówczesnego proboszcza rzymskokatolickiej parafii w Bychawie – księdza Antoniego Kwiatkowskiego. Na podstawie analizy zawartości pragniemy zaprezentować wybrane inicjatywy społeczno-gospodarcze, podejmowane przez księdza redaktora na rzecz rozwoju Bychawy i poprawy dobrostanu jej mieszkańców. Działalność ta przyniosła znaczące zmiany w wielu dziedzinach życia, a rezultaty do dziś są widoczne w przestrzeni miejskiej. Postać księdza Kwiatkowskiego jest uważana za jednego z głównych prekursorów rozwoju miasta i zajmuje znaczące miejsce w regionalnej pamięci historycznej. „Nowa Jutrzenka” stanowiła główne narzędzie prezentacji zamierzeń jej twórcy, organizacji i inicjowania konkretnych przedsięwzięć społecznych, gospodarczych czy oświatowych.
The article presents the periodical “Nowa Jutrzenka” [“The New Morning Star”] which circulated in Bychawa between 1908 and1924, founded and edited by the Roman Catholic parish priest of Bychawa, Fr Antoni Kwiatkowski. On the basis of its contents analysis we wish to present the selected socio-economic initiatives, undertaken by the priest-editor for the development of Bychawa, as well as the improvement of its inhabitants’ well-being. That activity brought significant changes in many areas of life, whose results are visible in its urban space even today. Fr Kwiatkowski is regarded as one of the main precursors of the development of Bychawa. He takes a significant place in the regional historical memory. „Nowa Jutrzenka” constituted the main tool for presenting the intentions of its founder and initiating specific social, economic or educational undertakings.

In this article we define a binary linear operator T for holomorphic functions in given open sets \(A\) and \(B\) in the complex plane under certain additional assumptions. It coincides with the classical Hadamard product of holomorphic functions in the case where \(A\) and \(B\) are the unit disk. We show that the operator T exists provided \(A\) and \(B\) are simply connected domains containing the origin. Moreover, T is determined explicitly by means of an integral form. To this aim we prove an alternative representation of the star product \(A*B\) of any sets \(A,B\subset\mathbb{C}\) containing the origin. We also touch the problem of holomorphic extensibility of Hadamard product.

In this paper, we determine the set of triples (p, q, r), with p, q, r > 0, for which there exists a decomposition of G into p paths, q stars, and r cycles, each of which has 4 edges.

Niniejszy tekst stanowi propozycję biopolitycznej interpretacji fanowskiego gatekeepingu jako formy immunizacji, która ma na celu obronę tożsamości grupy przed prawdziwymi bądź wyimaginowanymi zagrożeniami niesionymi przez nowych fanów. Praktyka zostaje omówiona na przykładzie środowiska w rozważaniach nad gatekeepingiem zazwyczaj ignorowanego – fandomu transformującego (transformative fandom), a szczególnie najsilniej sfeminizowanego środowiska twórczyń i czytelniczek fanfikcji. Mechanizmy immunizacyjne omówione zostają na przykładzie reakcji zgromadzonego na platformie LiveJournal fandomu Star Treka w 2009 roku, kiedy to po premierze rebootu franczyzy doszło do masowego napływu nowych fanek. W artykule przywołana jest historia fandomu Star Treka jako wyłonionego w wyniku gatekeepingu oraz przeanalizowana zostaje działalność dyskursywna fanek dłużej znajdujących się w środowisku, które stawiały nowicjuszkom wymagania niekiedy niemożliwe do zrealizowania. W końcowej części tekstu zmiana paradygmatu gatekeepingu (od dopuszczania bądź odmawiania publikacji do kontroli populacji fandomu) zostaje powiązana z rozpowszechnieniem technologii Web 2.0, która umożliwiła publikację wszystkim użytkownikom.
This paper is an attempt at a biopolitical interpretation of fan gatekeeping as a form of immunization – a defense mechanism that is supposed to protect the group and its identity against real or imaginary threats brought about by new fans. The discussion is based on an underresearched case of gatekeeping in the transformative fandom–the highly feminized fanfiction community in particular. The immunization tactics are exemplified by the reaction of the LiveJournal Star Trek community to the 2009 reboot of the franchise and the influx of new fans brought by the movie. The author provides a short description of the emergence of the Star Trek fandom, which was caused by gatekeeping in the first place, and analyzes the discursive practices of the more experienced fans and their at times impossible expectations, which were weaponized against the novices. The author concludes that the shift in the gatekeeping paradigm (from allowing/disallowing publication to the control of population) is a result of the popularization of Web 2.0.

The East German-Polish co-production The Silent Star (1960, Kurt Maetzig) belongs to the group of early postwar Eastern European science fiction films which still remain barely examined by film and genre historians. The article summarizes the existing research on the film and investigates not only the specific formal character of Maetzig’s unprecedented project, but also the numerous ideological and political motivations which stood behind it.
