Opis:
One of the most beautiful churches in Kraków is the St. Anne’s collegiate, situated in the city centre. This localisation has a significant impact on destruction of the structure and decorative stones of the church. The sandstones and limestones of the structure outer part are exposed mostly to seasonal climate changes and anthropogenic pollution. The stone alterations are expressed mainly as surface build-ups with grey colours. Disintegration of the surface stone layers as a result of mechanical weathering, biodeterioration, efflorescence processes, exfoliation and scaling off sandstones due to hydration and dehydration of secondary salt minerals are other signs of stone damage. Green coloration of sandstone entrance stairs due to precipitation of copper carbonate (malachite) negatively affects the aesthetics of the church front. The interior stone decoration is represented essentially by limestones used mainly as the floor tiles. These are varieties of compact limestones, whose attractiveness results from their diverse colours, the presence of fossil fragments and calcite veins, and good cutting and polishing properties. The preservation of the limestone masonry depends on the rock type and the place it is used in. Considering the historic and architectonic values of this church, the most splendid example of the Baroque sacral architecture in Kraków, a special care in the selection of appropriate conservation methods must be taken to preserve to posterity the appearance and beauty of the collegiate.

The work analyses the condition of forty nine trees in Świdnica (in the Lower Silesian Voivodship). The listed trees in this town belong to eighteen species, half of which are native and half foreign to our flora. The vast majority are angiosperms. The majority of the listed trees at Świdnica are English Oak (Quercus robur), the rarest examples include Common Ash (Fraxinus excelsior), Silver Maple (Acer saccharinum), White Mulberry (Morus alba), False Acacia (Robinia pseudoacacia) and Dutch Elm (Ulmus ×hollandica). The majority (59.2%) of the trees are in good health, while 22.4% require urgent arboricultural work.

Opis:
The material heritage of the Great Poland village should be considered inseparable with the spiritual values. That what is now characteristic for Greater Poland is the result of the centuries-old processes. This is apparent both in the settlement, construction, customs, folklore and cooking. The settlement landscape of Greater Poland was shaped by the medieval settlement, the rise of the feudal manor, various colonization actions from the XVII to the XIX century, including the Olęder settlement, the activity of the Prussian Commission for Settlement. In the XIX century processes of enfranchisement in the form of pooling, separation, and parceling and the industrial development have led to reconstruction of the village. The land reform in the interwar period, from 1925 and the PKWN decree on agricultural reform of 1944 have completed the changes. The clear imprint in all areas of life left the boundary of partition, which divided for over 100 years the homogeneous body which was Greater Poland. Differences between the parts of Greater Poland belonging to the Prussian and Russian partition despite the passage of more than 90 years, are still visible. The rural heritage of Greater Poland is preserved in the spatial configurations, with gables of houses set to the rural road, especially in the southwestern Greater Poland. It's also still the readable Olęder settlement, in the Nadnoteckie areas (marsh lanes - Polish rzędówki bagienne), and in the vicinity of Nowy Tomyśl, Lwówek and Trzciel (the dispersed settlement) and in the Pyzdrska Forest (river floodplains on the Warta and Prosna). Great Poland can boast a very large amount of preserved palaces, mansions, residences, parks and farms. Many of them represent a high artistic, architectural and spatial composition level. The dense settlement network which was already during the Middle Ages caused that there are in Greater Poland a lot of churches, both brick and timber and half-timbered churches, often very valuable. The agricultural landscape is characterized by windmills, mills, sugar mills, distilleries. Monuments of the railways are also noteworthy. Many objects are individually protected by registration in the register of monuments. Only 9 ruralistic formations in the region are listed in the register of monuments. Only 1 cultural park around of Żerków and Śmiełów was established until now. It is necessary to mention the numerous risks, the unfavorable changes which are taking place in a village in the last 20 years. There are also many positive aspects of 145 numerous operations. Just even to mention the Local Action Groups, Village Renewal movement, the Culinary Heritage network, various folk festivals associated with traditional food, etc. This article outlined only in a summary form the problems of an extremely rich and diverse heritage of the village of Great Poland.

Opis:
The organiser of the seminar on ”Historical Parks – Protection and Conservation,” held in Warsaw on 16-17 June 2009, was the National Heritage Board of Poland. The seminar was attended by the staff of the voivodeship offices for the protection of historical monuments and their delegatures dealing with historical vegetation, representatives of science, and employees of the National Heritage Board of Poland. The purpose of the seminar was to discuss numerous essential questions pertaining to the protection and conservation of historical parks and gardens, the state of their preservation, and the ways of their administration and use. The participants also considered problems associated with the creation by the National Board of a new reference list of historical parks and gardens for the National Fund for the Protection of the Natural Environment and Water Management, while a representative of the Fund defined the tasks that this institution can finance. One of the seminar blocks dealt with tree cultivation, and the debates ended with a presentation of examples of historical parks and gardens, which in recent years were subjected to conservation. The next meeting will be held in 2010.

Opis:
The roadside avenues in the open landscape of the Western Pomerania are a very characteristic element, deciding about its identity. Unfortunately in recent years due to the road modernization there has been lasting uncontrolled, simply mass cutting out of the roadside avenues. The grounds of taking action for the preservation of historical avenues is their valorization, based on standardized, synthetic methodology followed by the devising of the roadside avenues conservation programme. Methodology is based on an equivalent and comprehensive evaluation of the dendrological, ecological, landscape, composition and historical values of the avenues. In this paper the results of the valorization of eight roadside avenues were presented. Seven avenues in the whole and most valuable section of the avenue Maszewo-Jenikowo, were recommended for the conservatory protection, as work of the garden art with high cultural and landscape advantages. The effective mechanism allowing the protection of the most valuable westpomeranian avenues is getting started the procedure for putting them on the list of monuments. It is necessary to take an urgent valorization of all roadside avenues on the area of the Western Pomerania and the most valuable one should be taken under the conservatory protection, as a precious, natural or cultural objects.
