    The author describes the contexts for working on the title role of Shakespeares Richard III. He points to specific stages in working on the role: familiarising oneself with the original text and associated literature (research), creating the character (concealing intentions, plans and emotions from other characters in the play, the characters internal struggle, perceiving psychological truths); developing relationships with the director and other actors; the use of scenography, costumes, lighting and music to create characters for the stage, considering the meaning of translation and rapport with the audience.

     The author discusses the issue of acting and theatrical stage in the context of Józef Tischner’s philosophy, which sees the stage as the platform for freedom, and the meeting and parting of people, as well as their relationship with the Absolute. The language of the character is created by: the actor, screenplay, costumes, lighting and music. He introduces the idea of objectifying the stage and familiarising onself with role, the basis of which are relations between the plays characters.

    By referring to the metaphor of the theater – the theater of the reality of parametrization in which we the people of science participate – the author is wondering whether the servitude towards science can be identified with scientometrics, i.e., parametrization in the form that is known to us, where at least two of the indicators are subjective, namely: the type of the criteria and their weight. In the article, the emphasis is placed on the theatrical space of construction of the relation of “co-presence” which is not free from our need for recognition, individuality, uniqueness and being the best, at the top of the ranking of parametrization, “skillfully” playing our role of the “scientist” on the stage, which connects but also divides because of that, i.e. the place occupied on that stage. The acts are the spaces of our scientific activity, which – by capturing the “difference” in relation to others and the “difference” in relation to ourselves in time – allow us to be, to crystallize our image, to further define ourselves and to be recognizable in the role of a scientist in a reality that was not chosen by us, but is implemented according to codified rules of the game.

    Cel. W artykule zostanie przedstawiona wychowawcza rola matki w świetle wypowiedzi kobiet wchodzących w okres dorosłości. Okres ten jest specyficznym etapem życia człowieka, gdyż najczęściej podejmuje on wtedy refleksję nad założeniem własnej rodziny, podjęciem roli rodzicielskiej, potomstwem i jego wychowaniem. Mając na uwadze, iż role rodzicielskie stanowią podstawowy wymiar funkcjonowania człowieka dorosłego, zasadniczym celem badań było określenie podstawowych atrybutów postrzeganej i wyobrażanej przez młode kobiety wychowawczej roli matki. W badaniach starano się także określić, jak młode kobiety interpretują wychowanie i wychowanie macierzyńskie, oraz jakie czynniki stanowią ułatwienia i utrudnienia w pełnieniu przez matkę roli wychowawczej. Metoda. W postępowaniu badawczym zastosowano jakościową analizę szerszych wypowiedzi kobiet wchodzących w okres dorosłości, związanych z rozumieniem zasadniczych aspektów roli matki w wychowaniu potomstwa. Problematyka ta wyłoniła się z wcześniejszych eksploracji, które także miały charakter badań jakościowych i były realizowane na drodze indywidualnych i grupowych wywiadów z młodymi kobietami. W prezentowanych badaniach wzięło udział 109 kobiet w wieku 19–25 lat, zamieszkujących teren województwa podkarpackiego. Wyniki. Podsumowując najistotniejsze rezultaty badań i formułując wnioski końcowe, należy powiedzieć, iż dla młodych kobiet proces wychowania oznacza przede wszystkim przygotowanie dziecka do życia w społeczeństwie, przekazanie mu zasad i norm społecznych, a jednym z podstawowych celów tego przygotowania jest wpojenie wartości etycznych. Wychowanie przez matkę winno opierać się na głębokiej miłości do dziecka, okazywaniu mu szacunku i zaspokajaniu jego potrzeb. Podstawowymi zaś kategoriami wychowawczej roli matki są miłość, opieka, określone cechy osobowościowe i charakterologiczne matki, oraz relacja osobowa matki i dziecka. Matce łatwiej pełnić rolę wychowawczą, gdy pozostaje w szczęśliwym, satysfakcjonującym związku małżeńskim, oraz gdy jest spełniona i szczęśliwa jako kobieta.
    Aim. The article presents the educational role of a mother as viewed by women reaching adulthood. It is a specific stage of life as at this time people most often reflect upon starting their own family, taking on a parental role, offspring, and their upbringing. Considering the fact that the parental roles comprise a fundamental dimension of an adult’s functioning, the main aim of the study was to describe the basic attributes of the educational role of a mother as perceived and imagined by young women. The study was also aimed at determining the way women interpret upbringing and maternal upbringing, as well as the factors which, according to the female respondents, either facilitate or impede fulfilling the educational role of a mother. Methods. The method applied in the research procedure involved the qualitative analysis of broader utterances of women reaching adulthood related to understanding the fundamental attributes of the role of a mother in the upbringing of their children. These issues emerged from previous explorations which also had a character of qualitative studies and were carried out by means of individual and group interviews with young women. The presented study covered 109 women aged 19-25 residing the Subcarpathian Voivodeship. Results. To summarise the most significant results of the study and formulate the final conclusions, it should be stated that for young women the process of upbringing primarily means preparing a child for living in a society, transmitting values and social standards, while one of its fundamental aims is instilling ethical values. Upbringing by a mother should be based on profound love towards a child, showing them respect and satisfying their needs. The basic categories of an educational role of a mother are, in turn, love, care, specific personality and characterological features of a mother, and a personal relationship between a mother and a child. Fulfilling this role is easier for a mother when she is in a happy, satisfying marriage and she is happy and fulfilled as a woman.
