When wheel loaders move with velocity higher than 10 km/h, they are subject to intense longitudinal vibrations. These vibrations are experienced particularly unpleasantly by an operator. Passive vibration stabilisers are used for controlling their intensity. They make outrigger's support more flexible so that outrigger's vibrations counteract the wheel loader's longitudinal oscillations when moving. Unfortunately, the effectiveness of passive stabilisers is insufficient and at present more effective alternative means are sought. One of the solutions for angular longitudinal vibrations includes the replacement of passive stabilisers with active stabilisers. Nevertheless, the possibility of active stabilisers’ use in minimising longitudinal vibrations requires a scientific assessment. Hence, this paper, meeting the needs, includes calculations, which allow for comparing the effectiveness of active and passive stabilisers in minimising the vibrations of a typical wheel loader. Active stabilisers, which are the subject of the study, worked based on state controller, whose synthesis was carried out on the basis of optimal control linear theory with square quality indicator. The calculations were conducted on linear models under stochastic road excitations. Stochastic excitations were defined by means of power spectral density of road's unevenness. Active stabiliser's effectiveness was analysed, both for a loader moving with an empty bucket, and for a loader transporting a 3-tonne load. In order to facilitate the analysis of the results obtained, vibrations minimising quality indicator was introduced, defined as a root of a vehicle longitudinal deflections power.

The paper aimed at the determination of the California Bearing Ratio of a stabilised and unstabilised fine-grained mineral soil. A clayey-sandy silt with the addition of 3, 6 and 10% of road stabilisers Solidex and Solidex A was used for the tests. The tests were carried out in the press Tritech 50 at the loading of 22 and 44 N. The stabilised samples were subjected to 7-days treatment, whereas unstabilised 4-days treatment. Stabilization with the applied road binders brought positive effects, there occurred a significant improvement in the mechanical properties of the clayey-sandy silt. The better binder, which significantly increased the value of the CBR ratio, was Solidex A. The use of hydraulic binders is of a great importance in road building, because their addition improves the mechanical properties of weaker mineral soils.

The article carries out an argument justifying the stabilizing role of logistics in achieving well-being in a period of surprising and unexpected changes. The arguments presented are based on time-varying relations between logistics and well-being as well as on the reactivity of logistics to changes in the environment.

This paper contains results of experimental tests of the influence of passive ballistic protection on aerodynamic coefficients of the model fuselage of the Sokol helicopter. The research was carried out in the Institute of Aviation low speed wind tunnel T3 of 5 m diameter on the helicopter test stand. Measurements of aerodynamic coefficients acting on the fuselage with and without passive ballistic protection were taken using six–component internal strain gauge balance placed inside the model of the fuselage for the angles of attack α = –90-90° with step 10° and for sideslip angles β = –10°, 0°, 10°. Several aerodynamics coefficients: drag (Cx), force (Cy), lift (Cz) and moment: bank (Cmx), pitch (Cmy) and yaw (Cmz) were analysed. The results of the wind tunnel tests were presented in figures as non-dimensional mean values of the above aerodynamic coefficients. Different measurements of aerodynamic characteristics were made like: the influence of Reynolds number on the Cx of the helicopter fuselage with and without protection and the comparison of aerodynamic characteristics of the helicopter fuselage Cx, Cy, Cz, Cmx, Cmy, Cmz as the function of α, without stabiliser, with and without protection. Moreover, a comparison Cx, Cy, Cz, Cmx, Cmy, Cmz as the function of α, with a stabiliser, with and without protection was made and a comparison of the influence of a stabiliser and protection on the above aerodynamic characteristics for the range of useful angles of attack were analysed. A comparison of the influence of a stabiliser and protection on aerodynamic characteristics of the helicopter fuselage Cx, Cy, Cz, Cmx, Cmy, Cmz for the range of α angles of attack was also described.

The subject of discussion is the T-72 main battle tank. The tank is treated as three distinct bodies, representing thull, the turret and the gun. The rigid bodies are subject to a set of kinematics constraint relationships, which provide the physical interface of the system. The gun and turret are assumed to bend in the elevation and azimuth direction. Angular and axial displacements of vehicle are the input signals acting on the turret and the gun. The tank gun stabiliser, minimise the effects of vehicle motion on the main armament of tank and compensates the velocities of the vehicle. Stabilisation system, automatically maintain the position of the gun at a fixed bearing in space, in spate of any motion of the vehicle in roll, inpitch or in yaw. Mathematical model of the tank, the turret and the gun functioned as one system with the model of tank gun stabiliser (verified on the base of experimental investigations) were build. The equations of motion associated with a military tank are derived using Lagrange equations. In the next stage of the work the mathematical model could be used for versatile numerical tests of existing, modernized types of combat vehicles.

The tank gun stabiliser is an electro-hydraulic control system which makes possible aiming at a target, tracking of a target and stabilise of a given gun angular position. The two-axial stabiliser consists of two separate control systems to stabilise the gun in elevation and the turret (with gun) in azimuth. The aim of researches was to identify all functional blocks of tank gun elevation stabiliser 2E28M (installed in tanks T-72 and PT-91 Twardy) in order to build mathematical model of the system. After detailed analysis of construction and work principles, schematic of 2E28M hydro-mechanical powered mounting, showing number of energy conversion were worked out. Stabiliser has been divided into appropriate functional parts and functional scheme of investigated system were build. Afterwards, static and dynamic characteristics of functional parts of the system were determined. On the basis of obtained characteristics and based on the knowledge about the system feedbacks, structural scheme and mathematical model of foregoing stabiliser were derived. On the basis of the mathematical model, the algorithm and the computer program were worked - out. Making use of the Matlab-Simulink program, one worked-up the scheme for numerical computation. The mathematical model and its numerical implementation have been experimentally verified.

The results of numerical computations were compared with the existing results of experimental tests carried-out on a real plant. The results of experimental and model simulation investigations showed that the mathematical model and its numerical implementation were correctly developed.

The additional substances commonly used for polymeric materials mostly have a negative impact either on the natural environment or human health. Therefore, there is a need for replacing these compounds by more pro-ecological ones. In this paper, some natural antioxidants of plant origin, including xanthone, rutin hydrate, quercetin and a mixture of various polyphenols derived from green tea, were proposed as multifunctional as well as eco-friendly additional compounds for polymers. These substances were implemented by means of the impregnation process into ethylene-propylene copolymer (EPM) matrix. Some significant results of the research work are presented, including the mechanical properties and oxidation induction time (OIT) of the material tested. Moreover, ethylene-propylene copolymer (EPM) with antioxidants was investigated in terms of thermooxidative and UV ageing resistance. The impact of ageing processes on the material tested was analysed mainly by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) absorbance spectra and colour change assessment.
Powszechnie wykorzystywane dodatki do materiałów polimerowych w większości posiadają negatywny wpływ zarówno na środowisko naturalne, jak i na zdrowie człowieka. Z tego względu istnieje duża potrzeba zastąpienia tych związków tymi bardziej proekologicznymi. W niniejszym artykule wybrane przeciwutleniacze pochodzenia roślinnego, takie jak: ksanton, rutyna (hydrat), kwercetyna oraz mieszanina różnych polifenoli otrzymana z zielnej herbaty zostały zaproponowane jako wielofunkcyjne, a za razem przyjazne środowisku naturalnemu dodatki do polimerów. Te substancje zostały wprowadzone do matrycy kopolimeru etylenowo-propylenowego (EPM) poprzez impregnację. Zaprezentowane zostały najważniejsze wyniki badań, takich jak pomiar właściwości mechanicznych czy czasu indukcji utleniania badanego materiału. Ponadto kopolimer etylenowo-propylenowy zawierający naturalne przeciwutleniacze został zbadany pod względem odporności na starzenie termo oksydacyjne i starzenie UV. Wpływ procesu starzenia na badany materiał został określony głównie na podstawie analizy widm absorpcyjnych uzyskanych za pomocą spektroskopii w podczerwieni (FT-IR) oraz poprzez ocenę zmiany barwy.

The subject of discussion is a tank gun stabiliser (in azimuth and elevation). For the investigation of the considered control system one applied a method of computer simulations. The mathematical model and its numerical implementation were experimentally verified. The results of experimental and model simulation investigations showed that the mathematical model and its numerical implementation were worked-out correctly. Using the verified mathematical model of the system, the simulation investigations of the influence of regulation potentiometers settlings on stabilisation exactness and transient processes quality were carried-out. The possibilities of improving performance characteristics of the stabiliser via altering of feedback’s gain coefficients as well as the influence of disturbing inputs amplitude and frequency (propagated from the hull on the gun and turret) on stabilisation exactness of a given position were also analysed. The presented technique is quite general and may be applied to any type of vehicle to study dynamic effects of several rigid bodies, which move relative to each other (when displacements are small) and are connected by constraint equations.

This paper presents investigation results of surgical drills used in osteosynthesis procedures realised with the use of plate stabilisers. In particular, structure investigations and hardness tests were performed. Furthermore, a methodology of the wear evaluation of surgical drills was suggested. The drill wear was evaluated on the basis of measurement of point angle (2 [kappa]) and wear land (VB(B) i VB(Bmax)). The measurements were recorded for the selected number of holes n (max. 1000) drilled in a bovine femur.
W pracy przeprowadzono badania jakości wierteł chirurgicznych stosowanych w zabiegach osteosyntezy z wykorzystaniem płytkowych stabilizatorów kostnych. W szczególności przeprowadzono badania struktury i pomiary twardości narzędzi. Dodatkowo zaproponowano metodologię oceny stopnia zużycia wierteł chirurgicznych. Stopień zużycia wiertła oceniano poprzez pomiar wartości kąta wierzchołkowego (2 [kappa]) oraz szerokości starcia na powierzchni przyłożenia (VB(B) i VB(Bmax)). Pomiarów dokonywano kolejno po wywierceniu założonej wstępnie ilości otworów n (max 1000) w wołowej kości udowej.
