Opis:
Dietary nitrates have hemodynamic and metabolic effects on the body. This study aimed to investigate nitrate intake's effect on quadricep muscle oxygen saturation (StO2) of semi-professional soccer players during a repeated speed test (RSA). In a randomized, crossover design, 10 semi-professional soccer men players (21.3 ± 0.9yrs) performed two conditions: In one they consumed a nitrate-rich concentrated beetroot juice (250 mL/150 mg of NO3−) and in the other a placebo, 2h before a repeated sprint test. StO2 of the right vastus lateralis muscle was measured by near-infrared spectroscopy. A paired samples t-test was used to compute any differences in the subjects’ performance on the StO2 and on RSA test. The level of significance was set at p < 0.05. The supplementation of nitrates limited the decrease in muscle oxygenation during the six sprints of RSA test (p < 0.001) and also, there seemed to be a tendency for limited the decrement of performance on RSA test (t = -1.586, p = 0.157, η2 = 0.218). In conclusion, acute nitrate supplementation reduces the decrement of muscle oxygenation during exercise with repeated sprints and leads to a tendency of fatigue resistance during repeated sprints under controlled situations. Nitrate supplementation may have an ergogenic effect during exercise with repeated sprints via the higher muscle oxygenation.

Opis:
The aim of this paper was to investigate whether it is possible to evaluate the relationship between different phases of sprint start objectively. The participants of the research were the top level of elite National Sprint Team (8 female, 9 male). The run times were as follows: 10.39 ±0.12 s for men and 11.63 ±0.20 s for women. The data that were taken into account during the research in order to examine typical kinetic parameters of the sprint start were: reaction time, delay between simple reaction time and reaction time (IAAF), time to front peak force, time to rear peak force, delay between end of front force and gun signal and total start time. The analysis of the study identifies the major kinematic parameters of the phases of the sprint start and block acceleration that influence the results of sprint running. The following correlation analyses were conducted, a linear regression for the typical kinetic parameters of the sprint start, initial speed on 100 metre race. Finally, a simple coaching related model for the development of sprinting is presented which is consistent with scientific evidence recommendations for coaches to make changes in training.

Opis:
Introduction: Resistance towing is perhaps the most specific form of developing strength and power in muscles involved directly during the start, acceleration and at maximum speed. Resisted sprint training may involve towing a sled which provides an overload through the friction between the sled and ground surface or a modern advanced training device which uses drag technology to provide fully controlled resistance during the movement, such as the 1080 Sprint. The main objective of the study was to evaluate the optimal loading for the development of power in the engine assisted drag technology system SPRINT 1080. Material and methods: We evaluated the changes in running velocity and the generated force and power during resisted sprints over 30m with a load of 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 kg. Seven male sprinters with national and international experience participated in the study. Their average age, body mass and body height were 22.2 ± 2.4 years, 77.43 ± 4.63 kg, and 178.6 ± 3.2 cm, respectively. All athletes performed six 30 m sprints with 5 min rest intervals in between. The first sprint was performed without additional resistance, while the remaining 5 were performed in an random order with additional resistance of 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 kg. After receiving a verbal signal, the participant started at will from a semi crouched position. During the resisted sprint trials, the time [s] and the following variables were recorded in peak values: power output [W], generated force [N], and sprinting velocity [m/s]. Results: Our results show that loading with 6 kg decreased sprinting velocity by 9.37% while the generated horizontal power increased by 31,32%. The 6 kg loading on the Sprint 1080device corresponded to 8% body mass, yet as mentioned before the baseline results were not fully free sprinting as the tested athletes reached velocities 0.5-0.6 m/s greater without the harness. Conclusion: Taking into account this fact, our results seem to confirm previous findings, that external loads between 8 and 13% may be optimal for improving power and sprinting speed at the same time.

Opis:
The main purpose of this study was to determine the influence of different types of surfaces on the sprint test results. 33 male football players from two age categories - U15 and U18 - performed sprint tests (7 distances between 5 and 30m) and a 150m shuttle run test on three types of surfaces: natural grass [n], a synthetic surface [s] and a rubber surface [r]. The longer distance a player covers, the more likely it is that the importance of the type of running surface will be noticed. The rubber surface diminishes the negative effects of changeable factors on the reliability of the tests and therefore, in our opinion, is recommended for control tests and especially for longitudinal tests. Comparing the results of running speed tests performed on different surfaces and especially in different weather conditions is unjustified.

Opis:
In athletic sprint disciplines, the segments of start and start acceleration occupy an important place that significantly generates the final outcome of the race. The question is to what extent the start time of the reaction (latent time) has a contribution to achieving the results of sprint disciplines. The aim of the current research was to determine the influence and connection between the reaction time and the result performance of running in the disciplines of 100 m, 200 m, 400 m finalists of ten world championships. The results of a total of 456 finalists (231 men) and 225 (women) competitors who competed in the final races of the championships (from Edmonton, 2001 to Doha, 2019) were analyzed. The evaluation of the start reaction time and sprint results was based on reports officially published by the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF). Central and dispersion parameters were calculated for all variables. The relationship between reaction time and sprint results was calculated using the Pearson correlation coefficient, and simple regression analysis determined the direct influence of reaction time on the result success and calculated the relevant coefficients for the level of statistical significance p < 0.05. Based on the obtained results, a positive but low correlation was recorded between the mean values of the 100 m sprint results and the reaction time in men (r = 0.230p < 0.044), which was also confirmed by regression analysis. In other correlations and values of regression coefficients, no significant numerical values of the influence of reaction time on the result success were recorded in both categories of finalists.

Introduction: The purpose of the work is to theoretically and experimentally substantiate the influence of psychophysiological factors on individual performance in athletics sprint in high-qualified athletes on the example of an elite athlete. Material and methods: In this study, participated 1 athlete, 36 years of age, female. Athlete is specializing in short-distance running and long jump, the European Athletics Champion 2010; prize winner of the World Paralympic and Paralympic Games among athletes with visual impairments (T12 category) in 2016. The study was conducted for 5 months. Twice a week, testing was conducted (psychophysiological indicators and running speed); 36 tests of one athlete were conducted. Individual characteristics of the psychophysiological state and results in running for 100 m for five months were analyzed. Results. The models of multiple linear regression between results in 100 m run for an elite athlete with visual impairment and psychophysiological indices are compiled. High importance of psychophysiological indices in individual performance in running on 100 m is shown. Conclusions. Compensatory mechanisms of visual function deficiency were established to maintain high speed in the 100 m run as psychophysiological functions: indicators characteristic of sprinters (speed of simple reaction and motility of the nervous system) and specific indicators (efficiency, strength of the nervous system).

Opis:
The aim of the study was to asses the influence of the type of rest on football players’ ability to repeat a phosphagen exercise. Twelve football players from the Polish third league were involved in the study and were subjected to a maximum power test on a cycloergometer. Respiratory parameters, lactic acid concentration in capillary blood and acid-base balance parameters were registered before, during and after the test. The test was carried out twice. During the first test the subjects used an active rest break (A) and during the second one they used a passive rest break (B). In part A the quantity of relative work was 87.61 ±9.25 J/kg and in part B it was 78.5 ±6.58 J/kg (p = 0.012). In test A during exertion and during restitution (4th minute) we registered higher values of the respiratory parameters (Rf, VE, VO2, VO2/kg). Our conclusion is that passive rest should be used when the objective is the fastest resynthesis of PCr and ATP. An active rest break should be used when the goal is to remove the accumulated LA as soon as possible.
