This research focuses on the topic of Korean speech style shifts from polite to casual between men and women in romantic relationships. This study used data from the Korean reality TV show "We Got Married", which was broadcast in Korea for 9 years. After reviewing the system of Korean speech styles and manners of shifts, the study explores who is the first one to offer a shift, what they say, and how an offer is given. According to the analysis, older people were more likely to offer shifts first in the case of romantic relationships. In the TV show, older women tended to offer first a little more through indirect means, while older men offered rather directly. As for expressions used in the offers, the phrase ‘drop the honorifics’ and ‘talk comfortably’ were the most frequently used. They might offer in either polite or casual language, with sudden shifts. However, it was more common for speakers to offer shifts while talking in polite language. During conversations, two types of offers were observed: symmetrical shifts and asymmetrical shifts. In the first type, one speaker suggests shifts from both sides. The second type has more variations: one speaker requests the other’s permission to use casual language, allows the other to use casual language, or shows the speaker’s decision to use casual language. In the samples, symmetrical shifts occurred more often.
Niniejszy artykuł skupia się na przekształceniach koreańskiego stylu wypowiedzi z uprzejmego na swobodny pomiędzy kobietami i mężczyznami znajdującymi się w związkach romantycznych. W badaniu wykorzystano dane z koreańskiego reality show „We Got Married”, nadawanego w Korei przez okres 9 lat. Po wprowadzeniu zagadnienia systemu koreańskich stylów mowy i sposobu ich zmiany, Autorka analizuje stanowisko osoby inicjującej styl mowy oraz sposób i konwencję zmiany. Z analizy wynika, że w przypadku związków o charakterze romantycznym to starsze osoby częściej występowały z propozycją zmiany stylu mowy. W programie telewizyjnym starsze kobiety wykazywały tendencję do okazywania chęci wprowadzenia tej zmiany za pomocą środków pośrednich, podczas gdy starsi mężczyźni stosowali środki bezpośrednie. Propozycje, najczęściej wyrażone zwrotami: ‘porzućmy zwroty grzecznościowe’ i ‘mów swobodnie’, mogą być zakomunikowane w sposób uprzejmy lub swobodny, z nagłą zmianą stylu. Podczas rozmów zaobserwowano dwa rodzaje sugestii zmiany: zmianę symetryczną i zmianę asymetryczną. W pierwszym przypadku jeden z mówców sugeruje zmianę stylu mowy dla obu stron. Drugi rodzaj ma więcej odmian: jeden mówca prosi drugiego o przyzwolenie na używanie swobodnego języka, zezwala drugiemu na jego używanie, lub też to jeden z mówców decyduje o użyciu swobodnego języka. W grupie kontrolnej częściej występowały zmiany symetryczne.

Opis:
There is no unanimous point of view concerning the organic relationship between ‘style’ and ‘situation’, mainly because o f different definitions and interpretations of the concept o f ‘style’. As a quality of an integral text, style presents a text formulating modus, which characterizes new textual qualities that appear as optional to the basic necessary criteria o f textuality (e.g. integrality, coherence, etc.) as a result o f altering the ‘situation’ of making and perceiving the text. Making a ‘style’ means formulating that kind of a text structure which would accommodate to the ‘situation’ of presenting (new) information to the communication partners. As a subject o f a philological description ‘situation’ can be interpreted both in the broad and in the narrow sense. It can take into account extralinguistic factors of making and perce ■ mg the text, which influence the style as well as proper linguistic mechanisms that define the nature of stylistic information of a particular text. In the textual structure one can differentiate a certain system of relations between separate situational style factors as well as their linguostylistic markers. The character of such hierarchy may vary in different text classes and types. This proves the fact that both the ‘situation’ as a (text) style factor and the elements, which function as linguistic markers of stylistic information, are o f a gradient character.

The predominant way of stylistic investigation - up till nowadays - follows the di chotomie ‘token-type’ principle. It is argued here that the comprehensive study of style be carried along the rhetoric-interpretative lineš, which requires a letrachotomic ap- proach (thinking - discourse - genre - utterance), thinking and utterance levels being of paramount importance. So, one should distinguish style of thinking, utterance style, genre style and discourse style. The analysis of continuity/discreteness is carried oul on four varieties of discourse: business, scientific, everyday (set in f literary one ) and poetic. The results show that the antinomy o f continuity/discreteness is highly varřable in each ilem of the antinomy - from continuity to discreteness and backwards; the scale o f variability dependent, though, on the type o f discourse. This fact shows that this antinomy might be treated as a stylistic feature of communication, alongside with other features of textuality.

Unlike the majority of linguistic researchers, we consider the compliment as a speech genre, and a praise as a speech tactic of a positive assessment of the addressee. This tactic is the main and only speech tactic designed to serve the complimentary purpose, which expresses a positive attitude towards the interlocutor. Specifics of the compliment as a speech genre are defined by it possessing communicative independence and completeness. Unlike other genres of speech etiquette, the compliment is not attached to a certain situation and represents a facultative element of phatic communication. The etiquette essence of a compliment presupposes a certain convention of its contents, therefore theoretically it is supposed that the stated positive assessment shouldn’t be verified by the addressee. However, the importance of the category of sincerity for the Russian language consciousness determines the fact that in modernRussian communicative culture there is a special style of compliment which is caused by an aspiration of the sender to evoke trust of the interlocutor to the contents of a statement made. Markers of this style are various language emotional and estimated means and the structural-syntactic features particular to spontaneous informal conversation.

Based on the integrative concept of style, developed in the works of Professor Stanis³aw Gajda, the article justifies the allocation of prosecutorial professional style as a speech variety of business style, which is realized in a system of prescribing, requesting and informing genres. Analysis of the internal differentiation of the Russian prosecutors’ professional style shows that, along with stylistic features that are common to business macro style, this professional style has specific traits – legal evaluation and contrary relations of semantic positions, – which are expressed in each speech genre in a different way. Stylistical and speech analysis of these two genre models shows that typical algorithms of prosecutors’ professional speech activity are reflected in the models. The study shows that the professional style of prosecutors represents one of the types of speech activities in the legal field.

The reorientation of linguistics to the study of the regularities of its functioning in stylistics, manifested in the fact that functional style has been regarded as a type of language in any sphere of human activity, regards language in the aspect of differentiation and modification in the basic speech varieties. It is not by chance that text samples from different areas of communication are used in frequency dictionaries. Understanding style as a way to integrate speech performance first put forward the questions of the compositional-semantic organization of the text, the realization of its categories, constructive principles, and techniques. In functional stylistics studies the two main areas – the use of language and the organization of a speech performance – are analyzed as complementary, but cohesion requires understanding the regularities of the functioning of language units in a text with many objectives, updated in texts of the given sphere. To resolve this problem, it is reasonable to rely on the notion of speech genres, each of which is a sequence of standard cognitive-communicative actions – structural elements acting as an object in the text of spiritual socio-cultural activities. The analysis of these actions has revealed and systematized lexical units in communicative composition of language material (Gasparov 2010). This text-centered study of functioning of lexical and other means is of interest not only for the theory of style (and, more broadly, in speech study), but also to practice learning the language in its functional varieties.

Collective memory, defined as ‘acollection of imagesof community members about their past which are included in cultural texts,’ (Wójcicka 2015: 68), ‘images about the past activated in the process of social communication in order to meet the cul-tural and political needs of the present’ (Czachur 2018: 11), is unavailable directly. It can be reached only through representation of the past expressed in different kinds of signs. Thus, collective memory has the character of a sign. Based on that assumption, the author presents the style and genre diversity of collective memory. She shows the role of language style in collective memory and puts forward a ques-tion about what function speech genre has in remembering, recalling, reminding and forgetting. She presents complex relations between memory and speech genre, which she treats as a sign of oblivion. In the last part of the article, the author offers a typology of memory genres distinguishing primarily (intentionally) mnemonic and secondarily(functionally) mnemonic genres.

One of the markers of Bruno Schulz’s style is the simile. It plays two roles in the poetic prose of the author: on the one hand, it confronts two phenomena in a concise and conventional manner; on the other, it compares, quite unexpectedly, two events, living creatures or objects, which seem to have nothing in common. In this article I analyze excerpts of three Spanish translations in order to identify techniques used to render this trope, to verify the consequences of the omission of the linking words, and to investigate whether Spanish readers will be able to recreate the same or a similar image to the one evoked in the original.

The dynamie chaos theory applied to linguistics casts light on the role of Perm school of functional stylistics (M.N. Kozhina) as an odd attractor promoting the study of text in dynamics, especially the functional stylistic-semantic categories of text.It is argued here that modem situation in linguistics is shaped by the application of global context (individual cognitive system - on the personal level, and culture in all its heterogeneity - on the social level) to the mainstream research of language in use. This methodological demand is met by functional pragmatics as whole semiotics embracing all aspects of semiosis. lt ensures the blend of cognitive and interpretive models with their specific procedures in revealing the subtleties of language in use. That is exemplified in the analysis of a chunk of fictive text. Besides, we set forth the category of tonality which denotes attitudes and tones permeating discourse, in the light ofM.N. Kozhina's contribution to the field.

Discussions on the Internet show the changes of traditional conception of language styles. Even though the texts are undoubtedly written down they are spontaneous and colloquial Czech is primarily used there. High occurrence of spoken colloquial language can be understood as an attempt to establish a contact with other discussion participants.The dichotomy of speech and writing is disappearing. Slight differences between written and spoken texts are not observed only in everyday communication style of the Internet discussions and that is why traditional distinguishing of speech and writing is not always possible.

Testament in the Polish culture is an administrative-legal genre, accomplished in its own style of the genre, based on the official and legal style. In the stylistic aspect it shows authoritarianism, impersonality, templatedness and meticulousness of expression. As an example of the legal discourse it tends to be unambiguous, logical, concrete, and it contains specialist terminology related to dispositions of the estate in contemplation of death. It refers manly to the material sphere of life, yet it implies abundance of various hidden feelings: love, gratitude, attachment, hatred, contempt, or revenge. The most popular and expansive type of the genre is a notarial will executed in the form of a notarial deed. Holographic wills are realized more freely, with use of elements of colloquial style, may include expressive speech acts or take the form of an informal letter. The stylistic form of allographic and oral wills is similar to a report. Notarial testaments are becoming dominant and influence the linguistic shape of all other types of the genre. Lack of legal verbosity in a document, while meeting the requirement concerning appointment of an heir, date and testator’s signature, does not invalidate the legal force of the utterance.

This article investigates how teachers’ pedagogical speeches are able to contribute to the notion of exploring the professional “self”. The article concentrates on the speeches of teachers of French as a Foreign Language. It will show how the discursive dynamics of their words reveal the constituent elements of their teaching practice. We will see that the informers (re)discover themselves through their image, words and actions, not only allowing them to show definite conceptions of their teaching but also to explore parts of their practice that elude them in the heat of the moment (such as their voice or look).
Il s'agit dans cet article de mettre en exergue ce que des discours d'enseignants sur leur propre activité enseignante apportent en termes de découverte du « moi » professionnel. Pour ce faire, nous nous basons sur des discours d'enseignantes de français langue étrangère. Au regard de leurs propos, nous montrerons comment les dynamiques discursives permettent de déceler des paramètres constitutifs de leur pratique enseignante. Nous verrons que les informatrices se (re)découvrent au travers de leurs image, dire et faire, montrant alors des conceptions assumées de leur enseignement mais aussi une partie de leur pratique qui leur échappe dans le vif de l’action, notamment leur voix et leur regard.

Galerie infernale est, à bien des égards, une œuvre subversive par rapport aux normes langagières et éthiques. Cette transgression se perçoit à divers niveaux du langage : lexique, combinaison syntaxique et syntagmatique, logique du sens et de la pensée. Ce langage de rupture est mis au service d’une pensée elle-même en rupture avec les valeurs éthiques communément admises en société. Tout se passe comme si le poète décidait de franchir les limites de l’humainement acceptable et de scruter les territoires de l’extrême langagier et éthique, comme pour révéler la finitude et l’échec du langage, avec sa morale tout aussi désuète, le but du jeu étant de proposer d’autres possibles à une société en dérive en dépit de ses normes.
Galerie infernale, in many ways, is a subversion against the language and ethical standards. This transgression is perceived at different levels of language: lexicon, syntax and left, logic combination of sense and thought. This language of rupture is put at the service of thought itself at odds with ethical values commonly accepted in society. Everything happens so as if the poet decided to cross the humanly acceptable limits and to peer into the territories of the extreme language and ethics, as to reveal the finitude and the failure of language, with its all too outdated moral. The aim of the game is to offer other possibilities to a society adrift despite its standards.

Miklaszewski comentó humorísticamente que al leer a Schulz se puede llegar a la conclusión de que dicho autor escribió tan solo dos o tres oraciones, trazando así un par de situaciones que luego modificó y repitió en sus relatos. Con la finalidad de comprobar si el mismo efecto estilístico se conserva en las traducciones espanolas, analizaré los fragmentos que incluyen las figuras retóricas de repetición (políptoton, ploce, anástrofe y figura etimológica), así como las llamadas “rimas situacionales”, es decir, el uso de expresiones similares para describir tanto las mismas como diferentes situaciones.
Miklaszewski stated humorously that while reading Schulz you may come to the conclusion that the author wrote two o three sentences drafting a few situations which he then modified and repeated in his shirt stories. In order to verify if the same stylistic effect is present in the Spanish translations I will analyse the excerpts which contain figures of speech such as polyptoton, ploce, anastrophe and figura etimologica, as well as the so-called “situational rhymes”, i.e. the use of similar phrasing to describe the same or different situations.

The paper deals with the genre typology of the publicistic functional style. The speech genres are interpreted as a three-part system reflecting the interaction of the semantic positions both of the writer and the addressee. For the first time there has been characterized the system of the reader's genre needs which are nom1ally taken into consideration by a reporter when creating the text ofthis or that particular genre. As a result of the study into the problem it has been stated that various informational needs of the audience determine the compositional andthematic genres'peculiarities, as well as the communicative requirements and set the stylistic parametres of the pattems. In the paper there is proposed thesolution of the disputable issued in linguistics concerning the primary and secondary genres and are revealed the regularities in the different genres' interractions.

This páper attempts to interrelate culture (as a set of values produced and received by a specific community, including its artistic and literary production) and language/speechculture/cultiva on. Its point of departure is the classic hierarchy of styles, the differentiation between high style (which is associated with cultivated, and in Czech, exclusively standardlanguage expression), middle and low style. Low style is characterized by the use of non-standard. slang and expressive means and vulgarisms, and currently extends into Czechliteratuře; the style characteristics o f which, in addition to the non-standard means listed above, are contributed to by a significant amount of English loanwords, trendy words and phi ases (often from the media and advertising spheres). The use of all means of low style by the younger generation o f Czech authors is motivated by cnrical attitudes towards thecontemporary consumption-oriented society. This is documented in the páper through examples irom two playwrights (David Drábek, Petr Kolečko) and two poets (Karel Škrabal, JanTesnohlídek, Jr.). The critical orientation of the authors is directed toward the lifestyle of the society - it is, of course, a question, how to evaluate their work from the perspective of languageculture/cultivation.

In French comic quoted forms mechanisms of comism connected with taboo can be defined by means of semantic and stylistic analysis, however, the most comprehensive description can be obtained by employing linguistic pragmatics research instruments. Comic violation of taboo stems from breaching the maxim of politeness and quantity. Another source of humour comes from the contrast between the cultural presupposition and the sense of the sentence or its implicature. Implied topics are the basis for humour, quite like the implied structure of an utterance. Such sentences represent indirect speech acts: illocutionary tropes, as well as allusive derivatives packed with vulgarisms. From the semantic point of view, contrasts between the specific inherent semes and the afferent ones prevail. Oppositions within specific inherent semes or afferent contextual ones can also be observed. Quoted comic forms represent simple or complex tropes as well as rhymed paraphrases. Taboo content can be found in lexemes with broad connotations.
Dans les formes citées françaises à caractère humoristique, les mécanismes du comique lié au tabou se laissent préciser à l’aide des analyses sémantique et stylistique, mais la description complète est obtenue grâce à l’appareil de la pragmatique linguistique. La violation comique du tabou découle de la transgression des maximes de politesse et de quantité. Comme source de l’humour, il faut citer le contraste entre une présupposition culturelle et le sens de la phrase ou l’implication. Les sujets impliqués se trouvent aussi à la base de l’humour ainsi que la construction implicative de l’énoncé. Les phrases en question appartiennent aux actes de langage indirects : aux tropes illocutoires et aux dérivations allusives truffées de vulgarismes. Du point de vue sémantique, ce sont les contrastes entre les sèmes spécifiques inhérents et afférents qui prévalent. On observe aussi des oppositions à l’intérieur des sèmes spécifiques inhérents ou afférents contextuels. Les formes autonymes comiques sont des tropes simples ou complexes ainsi que des périphrases rimées. Les contenus tabouisés apparaissent dans des lexèmes à connotation large.

The article covers the broad problems of the scientific works of Maria P. Kotyurova – professor of Perm State University, the leader of Perm Scientific School of Functional stylistics. The bibliography of Maria P. Kotyurova includes 7 monographs, 15 textbooks, more than 300 articles, in which the main questions of stylistics of scientific speech, semantic structure of scientific text, legal linguistics and many others are put forward and solved. Special attention in the article is given to the analysis of the key notions of Prof. Kotyurova’s stylistic theory, which are now generally recognised and fundamentally important in functional stylistics. Among these notions are scientific text extra-linguistic factors, epistemic situation, reference scientific text, scientific speech culture, principles of scientific text editing, scientist speech individual style, etc. As the most important achievements of Prof. Kotyurova the author of the article considers: the model of scientific text semantic structure developed by Prof. Kotyurova (the model includes three components of scientific knowledge – ontological, methodological and axiological); description of the basic scientific text categories – coherence, integrity, wholeness, accuracy, density, etc.; justification of a multidisciplinary (complex) approach to scientific text study; and studying of stereotypes and creativity in scientist communicative activity. It is noted that M. Kotyurova is distinguished by the ability to see the non-obvious but fundamentally important properties in a scientific text. The dynamics of the research interest of Prof. Kotyrova, from classical functional stylistics to anthropocentric and discursive linguistics, are analyzed. The author of the article underlines that, while retaining a commitment to the ideas of her teacher – Prof. Margarita N. Kozhina, Maria P. Kotyrova at the same time is an innovator in the development of modern functional stylistics and the application of new approaches to research text. The fruitfulness of Prof. Maria P. Kotyurova ideas was confirmed by numerous works of her followers both in Russia and abroad.
