Opis:
The dynamic growth of the ICT sector calls for continuous concern for learning and development on the part of ICT specialists. The ICT sector's traditional paternalistic relationships among employees and employers have been replaced in favor of more temporary, flexible, partner-oriented arrangements at a faster rate than in other sectors. This requires changes in the approach to employability, which not only has an impact on their potential for success, but primarily defines their chances of 'survival' in the unstable and demanding labor market. The presented empirical results of research demonstrate the relationships between certain individual predictors of employability level among ICT sector workers in Polish SMEs. The presented data are a fragment of final research conducted within the context of the multi-year mailto:Indic@tor program.

Rapid changes in technologies and digitalization challenges caused by Industry 4.0 with the integration of the AI, machine learning algorithms, internet of things’ technologies, introduction of maritime autonomous surface ships and the development of digital shipping and logistics processes require proper education and training of specialists working in maritime industry to ensure safety and security of people, oceans, goods and environment. The shipping and logistic processes and operations, including the decision-making processes, on the global scale and on the scale of whole-organisation ecosystems become more dependent on the manipulation of data from different unstructured open sources and private data sets, increased amount of data stream from sensorial systems. The specialists working with automated systems need competences to use and interpret special data, engineering and analysis algorithms, and skills in using modelling tools of optimised solutions in shipping and logistics. Educational institutions have to be ready to present effective solutions to educate quickly adaptable specialists able to meet volatile labour market needs able to meet digitalization challenges. The case study of the Lithuanian Maritime Academy (LMA) presented in the paper is based on the use of an integrative approach and work integrated learning with the aim of enabling the educational environment to develop proper competencies of the specialists of shipping and logistics information systems.

Aim. One of the most important tasks which precedes the setting of goals for teaching a foreign language of a specialty and the selection of methods for achieving them is to identify the competencies that a qualified specialist must master. Therefore, the authors of this article see the need to set the following research tasks: the identification of professional competencies in the professional discourse of international affairs; the allocation of competencies among those that require the knowledge of a foreign language; and determination of the language material necessary for studying the specialty in the language lessons for international affairs. Methods. The empirical methods of our research comprise studying and analysis of the works of Russian and foreign scientists and teachers working in the related fields; and interviewing specialists in the international sphere who have graduated from the faculties and institutes of international relations, international law, world politics and economics in the form of an anonymous questionnaire. Theoretical methods include analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalisation, deduction, and induction. Results. A study based on the analysis of a survey completed by international specialists showed that a large number of professionals in the field of international relations, international law, politics, and economics use legal terminology in their work more often than others. Among the professional skills that are required in their work, the respondents named negotiation, business dialogue, and correspondence. Conclusion. A recent study has shown that disciplines such as international law must be included in the language training program for international specialists as diplomates and lawyers.

Given the reliance of the contemporary IT professional training process on a predetermined scenario for success outlined in educational programs and confined within local needs our research aimed to identify and examine effective ways of integrating spiritual and professional development for future specialists in the field of digital (IT) technologies. Our assumption was that the development of core values as a spiritual component of IT specialists influences the effectiveness of acquiring 21st century skills and shapes their professional competence. A correlational study was conducted to explore the relationship between the level of formation of core values in future IT specialists and the level of 21st century skills in these individuals. The research strategy was based on the application of distinct methods (Schwartz, S. H. (1992), Hixson, 2012, mathematical statistical methods – Kendall’s correlation analysis) to test the effectiveness of the author’s model. Its conceptual idea is to confirm the hypothesis that higher levels of 21st century skills correlate with higher levels of core values in future IT specialists. The results of the tasks revealed correlations between higher levels of 21st century skills and the core values of future IT specialists. This allowed confirming the leading idea of the research: Ukrainian students in IT specialties demonstrate the ability to acquire 21st century skills associated with values that support a “positive” vector in the functioning of an individual (benevolence, conformity, security, traditions, universalism, stimulation, and independence).

Th e main achievements and the distinctive features of the Belarusian educational paradigm are identifi ed in the article, some imperfections and their solutions to the mentioned issues are identifi ed.
В статье раскрываются основные черты и функции высшего про- фессионального образования Республики Беларусь в ХХIвеке, сведе- ния о количестве и ведомственной подотчетности вузов, количестве студентов, сведения о влиянии выпускников вузов на социально-э- кономическое развитие Республики в 2011–2015 годах. В статье представлен анализ следующих документов: Программы социаль- но-экономического развития Республики Беларусь на 2011–2015 гг. (в области образования), Мероприятий Правительства Республики Беларусь по выполнению Программы социально-экономического развития Республики Беларусь на 2011–2015 годы, Национальной стратегии устойчивого социально-экономического развития Респу- блики Беларусь на период до 2020 г., Государственной программы развития высшего образования на 2011–2015 годы, данных Наци- онального статистического комитета республики Беларусь. Опре- делены основные достижения, отличительные черты белорусской образовательной парадигмы, отмечены некоторые недостатки и пути решения обозначенных проблем.

The article points to the specific nature of social functioning of IT specialists in three areas (attitudes towards: superiors, co-workers, self-development). What is also described are the specifics of the development needs of this professional group. The characterization of IT specialists is preceded by the description and classification of improvement tools that are adequate to the individual stages in the development of social competencies. The author also refers to some of the latest tools for improvement of the competencies of IT specialists. Both classic and the latest tools are analysed and evaluated. The emergence and rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 caused uncertainty about our health, jobs, and the education system. For teachers, changes in workplaces and the breakdown of interpersonal relationships during the pandemic caused even greater stress levels in what is already known to be a stressful job. We wanted to find out if a positive or negative attitude towards online work influenced levels of stress and mental well-being, perceived difficulties at work, subjective evaluation of received support, and effectiveness of remote work during the first wave of SARS-CoV-2 in Poland. Data was collected using a questionnaire, the PSS 10 scale and another scale based on GHQ12 and GH30. Nearly one-third of the respondents indicated positive aspects of online education. Those who could see the positive aspects of online education showed themselves better adapted to the new form of working and had higher results in all four scales that we researched. They handled online tools, used synchronous methods, conducted educational activities more often, and felt competent during online work. Supporting the effectiveness of educators by improving the competencies that they need for this new form of working is vital with regard to the changes within the school institution.

W prawie polskim dopuszczono możliwość zasięgnięcia opinii biegłych, innych osób mających wiadomości specjalne oraz wyspecjalizowanych instytucji, a także przewidziano możliwość zlecenia niektórych czynności specjalistom. Są to odmienne instytucje procesowe, o różnych kompetencjach i wymaganych kwalifikacjach oraz różnych uprawnieniach. Poprawne scharakteryzowanie roli tych podmiotów oraz wymagań, jakie się im stawia, pozwala na ocenę wartości dowodowej sporządzanej opinii czy czynności z ich udziałem. W pracy omówiono wymagania, jakie powinny spełniać podmioty wydające opinie oraz działające jako specjaliści. Wskazano też, jakie są kryteria oceny efektów pracy wymienionych podmiotów.
Allowed under Polish law is the opportunity to consult experts and other persons or specialized institutions having special knowledge, as well as provides the possibility of outsourcing certain tasks to specialists. These are the different procedural institutions, with different competence and required skills as well as various privileges. The correct characterization of the role of these entities and requirements, which they pursue, allows the assessment of the probative value of opinions or activities involving them. The work discusses the requirements to be fulfilled by bodies issuing opinions and acting as specialists. The criteria for evaluating the effects of the work of these entities is also indicated.

The paper reconstructs the ways of attributing meanings to IT specialists’ careers at BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) centers in Poland. The findings rely on empirical data, collected through autobiographical narrative interviews. The technique of analysis applied in the study was inspired by grounded theory methodology and allowed for the identification of a basic social process at the analytical stage, namely, “career planning.” On the one hand, the analysis also showed how IT specialists’ careers are given meanings concerning career planning; there seem to be three main ways of understanding one’s career in IT: (1) in terms of reaching economic and social stability, (2) as a transition period in a career as an IT specialist, (3) with regard to becoming an expert in IT. On the other hand, the second axis of analysis has been conceptualized, which is comprised of other subjective and objective elements that may shape career planning. These include the biographical experiences of work, the context of the Polish BPO industry, and career planning resources. Furthermore, a typology consisting of three ways of attributing meanings to IT specialists’ careers at BPO centers has been put forward and analyzed.
