Opis:: First shopping malls were established in the 1930s in the United States, in Western Europe, they appeared in the 1950s, and in Poland - in the 1990s. The creation of shopping malls resulted from suburbanisation processes, development of satellite systems around large cities, growing transport diffi culties connected with getting to downtown centres, as well as with an increasing number of motorist and diversifi cation of consumer needs. First facilities were of service and commercial character, but during their evolution next generations of malls have been developed (form the 1st to the 5th). In Poland, there are over 400 malls (2014). The pace of development of shopping malls in Poland is characterised by the most dynamic growth observed among European countries. It is probably related to limited legal regulations restricting this domain and a considerable interest from investors. Shopping malls have become an inseparable element of modern agglomerations and cities in Poland. The aim of the paper was to identify the types of shopping malls location in Poland and local policy of their development.

Opis:: Podstawowym celem prezentowanego artykułu jest przedstawienie wybranych metod badań przestrzenno-ekonomicznych, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem metody Michalskiego (2002). Poszerzenie Unii Europejskiej o nowe kraje to ważna przesłanka dla prowadzenia studiów porównawczych, pozwalających na śledzenie i ocenę konkurencyjności regionów oraz przestrzenne i regionalne zróżnicowania ośrodków wzrostu. Zaprezentowane metody wizualizacji są skromnym wkładem autorów do literatury w tej dziedzinie. Wkład ten polega na zebraniu rodzimych metod, wdrożeniu do badań oraz ich pewnych modyfikacjach. Celem tych metod było zbadanie procesów przestrzennych (w dziedzinach takich, jak: gospodarka, demografia, rolnictwo, jakość życia czy budownictwo) w różnych przekrojach przestrzennych, dla okresu 1990-1992. Istnieje wiele metod badania podobieństwa (niepodobieństwa) struktury regionów. Wszystkie one w sposób zasadniczy zależą od pojęcia struktury. W referacie zostaną przedstawione dwa odmienne podejścia do tego pojęcia i związane z tym miary. Dodatkowo zaprezentowane zostaną różnorodne metody wizualizacji uzyskanych miar.
The main purpose of this paper is to present selected methods of spatial-economic research with a special focus on Michalski's method. The enlargement of the European Union by new countries is an important opportunity to carry out comparative studies, making it possible to analyse and assess the competitiveness of regions as well as spatial and regional diversity of growth centres. The presented visualisation methods are the authors' modest contribution to literature on this subject. This contribution includes collecting domestic methods, their implementation in research and some modifications. The purpose of these methods was to examine spatial processes (in such areas as: economy, demography, agriculture, quality of life or building) in different spatial sections, in the years 19901992. There are many methods of examining similarity (dissimilarity) of regional structures. All of them fundamentally depend on the concept of structure. In this paper, two different approaches of this concept and the relevant measures shall be presented. Furthermore, various methods of visualisation of the obtained measures shall be presented.

Opis:: The subject of the present article is a selection of aspects of urban planning in France over the last 500 years. The paper presents a synthesis of elements that constitute the functioning of the urban planning law in force in this country. The article presents the evolution of urban planning law over the centuries and today. It describes the documents that create the framework for urban planning in France, a summary of urban planning, describes the process of public participation in urban planning, which are followed by a conclusions.
Przedmiotem artykułu są wybrane aspekty planowania przestrzennego we Francji na przestrzeni ostatnich 500 lat. Syntetycznie przedstawione będą elementy funkcjonowania obecnego prawa o planowaniu urbanistycznym w tym kraju. Artykuł przestawia rozwój prawa o planowaniu przestrzennym na przestrzeni wieków oraz obecnie. Opisuje ramowe dokumenty w planowaniu przestrzennym we Francji, podsumowanie planowania przestrzennego, opisuje proces partycypacji społecznej w planowaniu przestrzennym, oraz wnioski końcowe.

Opis:: Intensive spatial processes taking place around metropolitan areas leads to many economic, structural and social changes in their surroundings. The small towns and rural areas located in the outer zone of metropolitan areas are most affected by this functional changes. In the outer zone of a big urban canters appears a lot of new competing possibilities on the labor market and a comprehensive commercial, service and cultural offer to smaller centres. One of the most competitive advantage of the metropolitan zones becomes modern shopping centres being established in the most accessible places, providing a comprehensive shopping-services and even cultural-recreational offer.

Opis:: This article aims to identify changes in the industry’s patterns in innovativeness and show its spatial diversity based on the example of the largest urban centres in Dolnośląskie Voivodeship. An assessment of the level of concentration of industrial activity was used as the basis for identifying these processes. The range of issues used for analysis depended on data availability, especially at the local level. The analysis of industrial activities’ location was carried out based on entities registered in Section C (Manufacturing) of the Polish Classification of Economic Activities. The spatial patterns of industrial innovativeness were presented using the classification of manufacturing according to R&D levels. The research results indicate significant changes between 2009 and 2019 in the spatial patterns for both the voivodeship and its urban areas regarding the industry’s concentration and specialisation. At the same time, this was accompanied by a decrease in industrial production. Dolnośląskie Voivodeship shows a significant spatial diversification in such concentration and specialisation. The patterns identified indicate the growing role of the area surrounding Wrocław as one of intensive infiltration of industrial activities from the main centre. These processes are also found in smaller urban centres of the voivodeship; however, this infiltration is selective.

Opis:: The paper focuses on the identification and classification of spatial patterns in the relation to landforms and geomorphic processes considering the middle-scale and micro-scale of the high-mountain landscape. These determine not only the shape of patches or the character of boundaries, but also the character of fragmentation, the heterogeneity of patches, the gradient and the tendency of patches development. Georelief, especially its spatial morphodynamic attributes, represents relevant phenomena of the landscape which facilitate to understand the scale and hierarchy of the landscape structure. The algorithm of this study is based on the spatial identification of landforms, processes and patterns considering large-scale aerial photographs, a field reconnaissance and the partial classification. The main aim of this paper is to create the classification system of spatial patterns as the physiognomic spatial attributes of the landscape structure mosaic in the high-mountain areas. The genesis of spatial structure patterns and their formation enables us to understand better the origin of the high-mountain landscape structure, its function and contents in this environment. Such a classification can be regarded as a basis for the quantitative statistic analyses of the landscape structure and for the detailed research of spatial patterns.

Opis:: Artykuł przedstawia badania dotyczące systemów planowania przestrzennego w wybranych krajach europejskich. W badaniu posłużono się metodą oceny aktywności poszczególnych uczestników planowania przestrzennego według przyjętej typologii. Uczestników podzielono na 5 grup, różniących się stopniem włączenia w procesy i procedury planistyczne: podmiot, współpodmioty, partycypantów oraz uczestników biernych: klientów i konsumentów. W badaniach wzięto pod uwagę stopień i charakter aktywności poszczególnych uczestników w fazach i formach planowania ze szczególnym zwróceniem uwagi na planowanie normatywne fazy konstytutywnej, w której sporządzane i przyjmowane są dokumenty planistyczne.
This article presents studies on spatial planning systems in chosen European countries. The study used a method to assess the activity of individual spatial planning participants according to the specific typology. Participants were divided into 5 groups, differing in the degree of integration into planning processes and procedures: originators, co-originators, participants, and passive participants: customers and consumers. The studies took into account the degree and nature of the activity of the individual participants in the different phases and forms of planning, paying particular attention to the normative planning of the constitutional phase in which planning documents are drawn up and adopted.

Opis:: The article discusses selected issues concerning the influence of ecophysiographic determinants on functional-spatial and socio-economic development in rural areas. Ecological, economic and social processes that have been taking place for the past few decades are examined in the context of the development of local self-governments and transformation of economic processes into market oriented economy following socioeconomic changes in Poland. The process of intense urbanization of the countryside is a common phenomenon that occurs specifically in rural areas that are within the impact zone of a big city. It is caused by i.a. human migration into rural areas as well as by development of areas of business activation. These tendencies, which occur both in the social and economic context, greatly affect ecological processes. Expansion of land development and the ensuing further development of necessary technical infrastructure give rise to numerous problems in natural environment. Ecophysiographic determinants play a vital role in the pursuit of sustainable development of the countryside in the aspect of threats that result from excessive urbanization of rural areas. The author discusses these issues on the example of a study of the village of Lubasz in the wielkopolskie voivodeship.
