    Opis:
    This study is a comparative analysis that tries to find an answer to the following question: “Is there any relation between spatial intelligence and logical-mathematical one”? The Howard Gardner’s theory about multiple intelligences is considered to define the intelligence concept. This work proposes a framework of debate. The results of examinations in Technical Drawing and Computer Aided Design, Mathematics and Physics are compared. The analysis was made at the end of the paper using the statistics methods. The conclusions suggest the nexus of spatial and logical-mathematical intelligences.
    Niniejsza praca podaje opis oraz analizę przeprowadzonego studium porównawczego, którego celem było znalezienie odpowiedzi na pytanie: Czy istnieje korelacja pomiędzy tzw. „inteligencją przestrzenną” a „logiczno-matematyczną”?. Przytoczono definicje inteligencji wprowadzonej przez Howarda Gardnera. Eksperyment badawczy przeprowadzono wśród studentów I roku, na dwóch wydziałach: Elektroniki oraz Informatyki Uniwersytetu im. Dunarea de Jos w Galati (Rumunia). Analizie statystycznej poddano wyniki egzaminów z przedmiotów: rysunek techniczny, komputerowe wspomaganie projektowania, matematyka oraz fizyka.

    The conducted review presents the possibility of using artificial neural networks in sectors related to environmental protection, agriculture, forestry, land uses, groundwater and bathymetric. Today there is a lot of research in these areas with different research methodologies. The result is the improvement of decision-making processes, design, and prediction of certain events that, with appropriate intervention, can prevent severe consequences for society. The review shows the capabilities to optimize and automate the processes of modeling urban and land dynamics. It examines the forecasts of assessment of the damage caused by natural phenomena. Detection of environmental changes via the analysis of certain time intervals and classification of objects on the basis of different images is presented. The practical aspects of this work include the ability to choose the correct artificial neural network model depending on the complexity of the problem. This factor is a novel element since previously reviewed articles did not encounter a study of the correlation between the chosen model or algorithm, depending on the use case or area of the problem. This article seeks to outline the reason for the interest in artificial intelligence. Its purpose is to find answers to the following questions: How can artificial neural networks be used for spatial analysis? What does the implementation of detailed algorithms depend on? It is proved that an artificial intelligence approach can be an effective and powerful tool in various domains where spatial aspects are important.

    The field of Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS) has been generally equated with the use of Artificial Intelligence and Computational Intelligence methods and techniques in the design and operation of manufacturing systems. Those methods and techniques are now applied in many different technological domains to deal with such pervasive problems as data imprecision and nonlinear system behavior. The focus in IMS is now shifting to a broader understanding of the intelligent behavior of manufacturing systems. The questions debated by researchers today relate more to what kind and what level of adaptability to instill in the structure and operation of a manufacturing system, with the discussions increasingly gravitating to the issue of system self-organization. This paper explores the changing face of IMS from the perspective of the pattern recognition domain. It presents design criteria for techniques that will allow us to implement manufacturing systems exhibiting adaptive and intelligent behaviour. Examples are given to show how incorporating pattern recognition capabilities can help us build more intelligence and self-organization into the manufacturing systems of the future.

    Opis:
    Due to the need for further expansion of a gas pipeline network and more efficient maintenance of available spatial data on the gas pipeline infrastructure, the management of gas transportation system operator has decided to extend the existing information system for the management of gas infrastructure by introducing location intelligence, i.e. its upgrading with the functional WebGIS solution. This paper describes the approach for developing the solution by using open source software components. The implemented WebGIS solution enables environmental monitoring in relation to safe natural gas transport, helps in planning and maintaining the gas pipeline network, and provides location-conscious decisionmaking on various aspects of the gas infrastructure management.     Wzrastające zapotrzebowanie na kompleksowe i rozbudowane sieci przesyłowe gazu ziemnego oraz konieczność wprowadzenia bardziej wydajnego utrzymania danych przestrzennych dotyczących owej infrastruktury przesyłowej wpłynęły na podjęcie przez zarządcę infrastruktury decyzji o rozbudowie dotychczasowej infrastruktury o dodatkowe elementy związane z możliwością wykorzystania inteligentnych systemów lokalizacyjnych bądź odpowiednio rozbudowę istniejących elementów o rozwiązania funkcjonalne oparte na WebGIS. W niniejszym artykule opisano podejście koncepcyjne omawianego rozwiązania z wykorzystaniem komponentów programistycznych typu open source. Wdrożone rozwiązanie WebGIS umożliwia monitorowanie bezpieczeństwa przesyłu gazu ziemnego oraz związanego z nim wpływu na środowisko naturalne, pomaga w planowaniu i utrzymaniu sieci przesyłowej oraz podnosi skuteczność podejmowania świadomych decyzji dotyczących różnych aspektów zarządzania infrastrukturą gazową w odniesieniu do aspektów lokalizacyjnych.     The article presents the use of Business Intelligence technology in the analysis and reporting of data relating to the mining company. Particular attention was paid to the thread associated with the spatial aspect of Business Intelligence. The final part the article also indicates trends in the use of Business Intelligence in the coming years.
