Opis:
The paper is devoted to numerical modelling of solitary wave propagation phenomena in shallow water of uniform depth. The problem governing equations are solved by applying a corrected smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method in which standard smoothing kernel functions are modified in such a way that so-called linear reproducing conditions for kernel approximations and their first-order spatial derivatives are satisfied. Numerical performance of the proposed SPH model has been verified by comparing its predictions with analytical results for a solitary wave travelling over the horizontal bottom. Also, the results obtained by applying the corrected SPH method and those given by the standard SPH method, with no kernel correction, are compared. Further, an impact of the solitary wave on a vertical rigid wall is investigated, and finally an interaction of two colliding solitary waves is considered.

Opis:
In this paper, we reveal the transmission properties of the M-type combined solitary wave in birefringent fiber with third-order dispersion, self-frequency shift, self-steepening, fifth-order nonlinearity and the gain (loss) effects. The numerical simulations show that the M-type solitary wave can be stably transmitted through 300 dispersion lengths via balancing the variety of effects. And it can even be stably transmitted under the condition of limited interference under a small perturbation of noise, amplitude and phase position. The results can provide certain references for there search of optical soliton communication and optical devices.

Opis:
The ultra-short pulse propagation in a non-uniform fiber system is investigated based on the variable coefficient coupled higher-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation with the dispersion gain and nonlinear gain terms. By using the ansatz method and the split-step Fourier method, we get the exact solitary wave solution, with which the transmission process of the solitary wave is studied. Furthermore we obtain the stability of the solitary wave under finite initial perturbations. The interaction between two neighboring solitary waves is also studied.

Opis:
Observations of the shelf environment rarely associate internal solitary waves (ISWs) with the impact of their passage. An experiment observed during the Coastal Mixing and Optics 1996( CMO ’96), a sequence of long internal waves on a coastal shelf is reported, including both mode-1 and mode-2 waves, together with evidence related to the interaction of propagating ISWs and the benthic boundary layer. The observed ISW dynamics is shown to present a repetitive pattern or ‘climate cycle’. The ISW-associated benthic signature described here occurs frequently (at least once a day) in the CMO ’96coastal area and suggests that ISWs under calm, summer-like conditions may have a decisive influence on the fate of near-bottom pollutants or biological processes in shelf regions.

Opis:
In this article, we apply two mathematical tools, namely the first integral method and the rational (G'/G)-expansion method to construct the exact solutions with parameters of the nonlinear Biswas-Milovic equation with dual-power law nonlinearity. When these parameters take special values, the solitary wave solutions are derived from the exact solutions. We compare between the results yielding from these integration tools. A comparison between our results in this paper and the well-known results is also given.

Solitary Waves
Free-Surface Flow Problem
Streamfunction Vorticity Formulation
Opis:
The main purpose of present paper aims at the establishment of a numerical model for solving the nonlinear water wave problems. The model is based on the Navier-Stokes equations with the consideration of a free-surface through the streamfunction-vorticity formulation. The main advantage of the streamfunction-vorticity formulation is that pressure field can be eliminated from the Navier-Stokes equations. To demonstrate the model feasibility, the present studies are first concentrated on problems including the collision of two solitary waves with different amplitudes, and the overtaking collision of two solitary waves. Then, the model is also applied to a solitary wave passes over the submerged obstacle in a viscous fluid. Finally, the application of present study is also to simulate the generation of solitary waves by underwater moving object. All examples give very promising results, those applications reveal that present formulation is a very powerful approach to simulate the fully nonlinear water wave problems.
