Opis:
Ukraine, as a modern state governed by the rule of law, has chosen one of its priority areas of development - focus on the European Union (EU) by harmonizing modern Ukrainian legislation with European standards, adapting regulations, including solid waste (MSW). The experience of many European countries in solving this problem indicates the level of environmental awareness and motivation of the population (Rezoljucija “Peretvorennja nashogho svitu: Porjadok dennyj u sferi stalogho rozvytku do 2030 roku”, 2015). The current situation in Ukraine is characterized by the further development of environmental threats associated with solid waste, specifically non-compliance with environmental safety requirements when removing them and the lack of modern systems for their collection, recycling, utilization. In the absence of separate collection, the problem of dangerous waste management in the household is practically not solved. In the developed countries, the EU member states, waste management according to the concept of “Zero Waste”, that is “zero waste” and “zero loss” has become practical - this defines a new ideology of attitude to production and consumption waste. In contrast to European countries, Ukraine has a very low level of processing and utilization of solid waste and а high indicator of their burial in landfills. A significant number of landfills are overloaded; do not meet environmental and sanitary standards. In the field of solid waste management there is a dangerous situation, which is exacerbated every year, resulting in increasing danger to the environment, life and health of the population. Solving this problem requires effective action to implement state policy and governance in this industry. Accumulation generation is increasing from year to year, while a significant share of this waste is disposed of in landfills and landfills that are improperly operated, which has a negative influence on the environment and human health. Today, the system of solid waste management is ineffective in Ukraine, resource-intensive, does not prevent the negative impact of solid waste on the environment on the life and health of the population. This contradicts the legally defined goals and directions of state policy in this area.As a result, the territory of Ukraine is littered with solid waste, which can lead to a garbage collapse at both the regional and national levels. Therefore, the solution of this problem at the state level should be carried out through the introduction of effective public administration through legislative regulation, adaptation and implementation of regulations and legislation of European countries.

Opis:
In Morocco, solid household waste is often disposed of in open air in unsuitable sites, causing adverse effects on humans and the environment. In the province of Settat, there are eight uncontrolled landfills. The present study aimed to determine the most suitable sites from an environmental and economic point of view to ensure good management on a regional scale. The investigation involved a combination of a multi-criteria method (the AHP analytical hierarchy process) and a GIS geographic information system (ArcGIS) with ten criteria: distance from the ground water, water surfaces, drilling, settlements, forests, roads, highway, land use, slope, and elevation. The suitability map showed that about 18.5% of the study area is suitable for installing a sanitary landfill.

Opis:
The municipal waste is a waste type that includes predominantly household waste (domestic waste) with sometimes the addition of commercial wastes collected by a municipality within a given area. EU waste management principles were defined in the Waste Framework Directive 75/442/EEC. A transfer station is a building or processing site for the temporary deposition of waste. Transfer stations are often used as places where local waste collection vehicles will deposit their waste cargo prior to loading it into larger vehicles. The primary reason for using transfer station is to reduce the cost of transporting waste to disposal facilities. There are many countries in Europe using this solution in waste management system, for example: Germany, Belgium, Austria, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland. Waste transfer stations play there an important role in a community's total waste management system, serving as the link between a community's solid waste collection program and a final waste disposal facility. In Poland only several waste transfer stations exist, but none of them fulfils the role like this station located in EU or United States of America. This article includes characteristics and role of solid waste transfer stations (located mainly at rural area) in waste management systems.

Opis:
The study was conducted to determine the factors affecting the intention of people to segregate garbage in Vinh Chau town, Soc Trang province, Vietnam by surveying 198 households. Cronbach’s alpha analysis method, EFA analysis, and linear regression analysis were used in the study. The analysis results of Cronbach’s Alpha index, KMO and Bartlett's test showed that the questionnaire data used in the study was highly reliable and were suitable for EFA analysis. The results of linear regression analysis identified three factors including "subjective norm", "control of cognitive behavior" and "perceived level of garbage classification information" that had positive impact on intention of domestic solid waste classification of local people in Vinh Chau town, Soc Trang province, in which "subjective norm" was considered to be the most influential factor on the intention to classify domestic solid waste in the study area. Besides, the intention of the people to segregate the domestic solid waste was highly appreciated, but it has not been widely implemented in the locality. Therefore, the study proposed some governance implications based on the factors affecting the intention of people to classify household solid wastes. In particular, local authorities should pay special attention to propagating and disseminating policies and guidelines on the information of domestic solid waste and implementing a model of waste segregation at source.
