Opis:
The article presents the opportunities the church institutions have to stimulate the older generation. The Church plays an important role in seniors' life and religious practices and their awareness of being needful for the church is very important. Religiousness is also a form of leisure activities preferred by older adults. From this perspective we can see how great potential the church has to activate seniors. In addition to evangelization and worship church is able to offer them a lot of proposals meeting their socio-cultural and educational needs. Education provided by church is not limited to the Bible only, it is present during pilgrimages to the holy places, prayer meetings and social events, trips to cinema, theater and in the organizing of various events not strictly connected with religious practices. The most important thing is that all forms of seniors' animation bring the possibility of interpersonal contacts what is very important for this age group and highly improves the quality of their lives.

Opis:
National minorities, i.e. Jewish and German, constituting distinct (almost completely – as the followers of Judaism, or largely – as Evangelical Christians) religious groups, had considerable influence not only on the development of Pabianice's economic life, but also on the shaping of the social and cultural space of the city. Initiatives taken by their representatives were directed, on the one hand (and predominantly), to their own national or religious communities, which was mostly characteristic for the Jewish and, to a lesser extent, German minorities and, on the other, to a wider group of residents, which mostly applied to the Evangelicals. The dominant contribution to the development of socio-cultural sphere of the city, especially philanthropy, was made by religious communities. Providing assistance to the poor and needy was regarded a religious duty. The positive public perception was also meant to increase the number of followers in the Evangelical Church. The creators of the social and cultural life of the city also included entrepreneurs belonging to those communities. They contributed to the formation of numerous social (charity organisations, sports clubs) and cultural (musical societies) initiatives not only due to their accumulated wealth, but also due to the need to help others, take on different challenges and keep up the positively perceived image of a benefactor. They included almost all residents of the city interested in such forms of activity or support. The socio-cultural activities of minority communities have left their mark on the city, giving it a form of organisation. It became apparent primarily in the development of different parts of the space by each of the most active communities (Germans and Jews). The German minority, responsible for the creation and development of Pabianice industry, located their social and cultural institutions in the so-called New Town. This part of Pabianice was inhabited and developed “industrial” immigrants, many of whom were of German origin. As a minority not participating in the development of local industry to such an extent, Jews were socially and culturally active in the part of Pabianice known as New Town, especially in the initial phase. It was an area of concentration of both the first Jewish settlers and the later ones, that came during the economic prosperity.

Opis:
This paper presents the results of the research on the physical activity of school youth in three European countries (Poland, Bulgaria, Kosovo) which are at different stages of socio-economic development and, therefore, of different possibilities and conditions in terms of leisure and mobility. The purpose of this cognitive study was to diagnose certain aspects of the lifestyle of young people aged 13-16 from Kosovo, Bulgaria and Poland, with a particular focus on physical activity. The practical aim, however, was an indication of such actions, arising from past experience that would aim at improving lifestyle, and could lead to the elimination or prevention of certain causes of physical inactivity by the youth of the countries surveyed. The research was conducted by the use of a diagnostic survey of a group of 524 people aged 13-16, among whom there were 88 people from Bulgaria, 136 people from Poland and 300 people from Kosovo. The research material was collected in 2012. The research that was carried out shows that the level of wealth (not so much of the family, but of the specific country) may have an impact on the choice of activities chosen by the youth. Undoubtedly socio-cultural factors and the tradition of social life, which impose certain ways of spending leisure time (as can be seen particularly in the case of the Bulgarian and Kosovar youth) are also of great importance. The above observations, taking into account local conditions, should be the starting point for all those who plan to introduce changes in the physical education systems in each of these countries in the future.

The original concept, theory-method of Lev S. Vygotsky, the innovative nature of his views allows to adopt new theoretical and methodological tools to describe the process of development and learning of a child, reconstruct what is happening in the classroom and in the students’ minds. For many years the interest in Vygotsky’s concept has been experiencing a renaissance all over the world, also in Poland. The cognitively sophisticated concept has original terminology. Unfortunately, in the discourses, frequent borrowings and loose usage of terms have been observed, as well as the reproduction of Vygotsky’s words without discovering the meaning or giving them a deeper meaning. As a consequence, this brings the risk of distortion of the idea and the apparent change of school culture, its opening to a new quality (socio-cultural constructivism). In this article I share my reflection on: research and Research and Development (R&D) activities based on the theory-method of L.S. Vygotsky, applying his ideas to pedagogical research, and educational implications for changing everyday teaching practice.
