Opis:: The Catholic Church’s Social Teaching dealing with mankind is interested in the person and their way of progressing in the world. As John Paul II stated, Catholic Social Teaching “belongs [...] to the field [...] of theology, particularly moral theology” (SRS 41; CA 55). Polish moralists in the area of social moral theological studies undertake the issue of economic-social life, and in particular its anthropological dimension. Moral reflections from the theological point of view allow for an integral grasping of the involvement of the person in the life of society. The goal of the presented report is to show an integral concept of the person as the fundamental dimension of social-economic life. The principle source of this work is comprised of views presented on the given topic by the nation’s moralists during over a dozen lately held yearly meetings of the Section of Polish Moral Theologians. The contents of the report are divided into three parts: (1) the integrated vision of the person as the principle element of evaluating the social-economic order; (2) threats to the human person in the context of contemporary social-political life and (3) pointing to ways of overcoming these threats.

Opis:: The article addresses the economic theories that have arisen on the basis of development economics of the 20th century. The aim is to present the evolution of these concepts and to evaluate them. Historical, descriptive and comparative methods were used. The author argues that in face of current development issues a return to historical sources, combined with their proper reading and (re) interpretation, enables formulation of important conclusions for the present and setting more accurate targets for the future. Thanks to this reading and reinterpretation policy makers have a chance to avoid errors in managing the current socio-economic policy. The analysis led to the conclusion that (1) the understanding of economic development was at first narrowed to growth but with time has moved to (2) to the category of socio-economic development and in the 1950 s a new sub-discipline of economics - development economics - was developed. Its achievements helped to take into account in today's prevailing approaches the social determinants of economic growth, of which sustainable development is the most popular.

Celem artykułu jest analiza porównawcza poziomu rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego miast wojewódzkich Polski Wschodniej na podstawie wybranych cech diagnostycznych (zmiennych). Materiał źródłowy do badań stanowiły dane z Banku Danych Lokalnych GUS za lata 2012 i 2017.
Voivodship cities play a key role in the social-economic development of each region. They focus most of the economic and social activity of the region. The economic development of cities affects the development of neighboring areas, and the magnitude of this impact depends to a large extent on the importance of the center. The aim of the article is a comparative analysis of the level of social-economic development of voivodship cities of Eastern Poland, based on selected diagnostic features (variables). The source material for the study was data from the Local Data Bank (Statistical Central Office, GUS) for the years 2012 and 2017.

Opis:: The presented study is an attempt to indicate the impact of the concept of multilevel-governance (multi-level governance), well-established in the provisions related to the planning and implementation of the EU policies, with a view to developing forms of cooperation between public administration and its environment. This can be observed in the field of regulations relating to preparation of a contract partnership and creation of strategies and programs connected with the implementation of cohesion and development policy, which was adopted within the European Union. They precisely determine transformation of the Polish law in this area in the direction of adapting it to the EU law, and thus, influence the intensity of forms of cooperation as well between administrative bodies as social and economic partners. This, in turn, results in the intensification of network type connections in the vertical and horizontal planes that reveal new organizational and legal forms in the preparation and implementation phases of development tasks at the national, regional and local levels.

Opis:: The rapid development of renewable energy sources in the EU over the past decade is associated with a number of aspects, among which are economic: the development of new technologies and the reduction of dependence on energy imports; the positive economic effect of using renewable energy sources, caused by the improvement of the environment.Increase in competitiveness of economy, ensuring energy security and power independence due to increase in energy efficiency and increase in use of own TER, including RES, is the priority direction of development of the countries.There are determined economic problems in the way of development and use of renewable energy sources in the world, including the EU. The most significant among them are high initial investments in their development and implementation, as well as the difficulty in determining the additional financial-economic effect from the use of renewable energy (for example, the effect of saving traditional energy resources in the bowels, real economic investment to social-economic development, etc.).The analysis is carried out and an assessment of influence of digital transformation on world power is given. Also negative sides of this process are studied positive.The authors prove that it is necessary to implement, based on government support, administrative and economic stimulation: 1) tax mechanisms (tax holidays, reduction of taxation for alternative energy facilities at the level of their design and initial periods of exploitation, at the level of permission to embed local tariffs for such objects of generating energy, etc.), 2) mechanisms of indirect stimulation (through the provision of preferences for the allocation of land plots to build such objects, through the simplification of administration procedures of project construction and operational cycles, through the creation of a positive companies image which implement projects on renewable energy).

Opis:: The aim of the article is to analyse the spread and diffusion of socio-economic development in Poland in 2004-2016, while considering spatial aspects. Using the linear ordering method in the non-pattern version, a synthetic development measure for all municipalities in Poland was built based on a set of 77 features illustrating various socio-economic aspects, reduced to 25 features. For the measure constructed in this way, the convergence of the beta and sigma type has been examined, divided into 3 groups of municipalities (rural, urban and urban-rural), as well as in regional division. Using the methods of spatial econometrics, the occurrence of spatial effects was examined, in particular the attention was paid to the relationship between the processes of spreading development and spatial forms of diffusion of development. The analysis also allowed to determine the strength of local impacts of spatial connections between individual municipalities.

Opis:: Social and economic cohesion is the essence of the European Union’s activities regarding regions. The level of development in many regions is below the EU average. For this reason, investments used by the EU’s Cohesion policy to achieve more coherence in the EU at the regional level. The aim of the paper is to assess the differentials of socio-economic cohesion among Polish regions for 2010 and 2015. The chosen aspects (such as affluence, health, education, innovativeness, entrepreneurship, regional infrastructure), which characterize socio-economic development, were analysed. The taxonomic method and cluster analysis were used to accomplish the goal. The analysis is crucial to assess the disparity between Polish regions regarding the level of development in terms of the effects of the cohesion policy.
Spójność społeczno-gospodarcza stanowi istotę działań UE w odniesieniu do regionów. Poziom rozwoju wielu z nich jest poniżej średniej UE. Dlatego inwestycje realizowane z funduszy polityki spójności zmierzają do osiągnięcia większej spójności na poziomie regionalnym. Celem artykułu jest ocena zróżnicowań spójności społeczno-gospodarczej województw w latach 2010 i 2015. Do analizy przyjęto wybrane aspekty charakteryzujące rozwój społeczny i gospodarczy, takie jak zamożność, zdrowie, edukacja, innowacyjność, infrastruktura regionalna. Do realizacji celu zastosowano metodę taksonomiczną (Z. Hellwiga) oraz analizę skupień (metoda Warda). Analiza istotna jest dla oceny dystansu dzielącego województwa pod względem poziomu rozwoju w aspekcie efektów polityki spójności.

Since 1989, they have been drawn from the democratic principles of social development. The rural family has been influenced by the Czech economic situation since joining the EU until the present. This paper, based on statistical data and published sociological studies, reflects the stages of the development of the rural family.

Opis:: The dynamic development of the sport due to the processes of globalization, commercialization and professionalization has led to an increase its importance for economies of the countries of the European Union. For more accurate description of this phenomenon, it became necessary to construct a new measurement tool. As an initiative of the European Commission in 2006 there was started a work of a Working Group on Sport and Economics. There was developed a detailed definition of sport and the methodology of the measurement what enabled to determine its added value and influence on employment in European Union. Use of new measurement tool on 2006 basis enabled to determined that added value of sports in term of statistical meaning was 28,16 bln EUR, the narrow was 112,18 bln EUR and the broad was 173,87 bln EUR. The percentages of the total number of employees amounted appropriately: 0,31%, 1,49% and 2,12%.

Opis:: In this paper we study the role of social factors in development of international trade using a generalized gravity model. In existing studies of determinants of bilateral trade flows only economic factors were taken into account such as their economic size, factor endowments and technology levels as well as tariff and non-tariff barriers and distance between them. Our contribution to the literature lies in extending the previous studies to include also factors measuring the level of development and social inequalities as well as civil liberties. In particular, we study the role of the aggregate index of social development - HDI and its components as well as income inequality and civil liberties.
