    This paper presents the notion of taboo in the context of a social phenomenon identified with a strong exclusion that simultaneously binds nature and culture. Trying to define it, you can say that taboos are not just what cannot be named, what cannot be done, but also what cannot be thought of. This term is connected with a strong ban and fear. Sexual life, along with all its forms, ranging from debauchery to restraint, from promiscuity to asceticism, from what falls within a norm to pathology, connected with such topics as eroticism and procreation, is an ambiguous, shameful and hidden area of human experience. Sexuality is the source of elementary human shame. It is sometimes impure because it is related to the lower half of the body, it is sometimes violent, it may cause disorder, fighting, jealousy. On the other hand, however, it is perceived in terms of procreation as a lofty act of giving life. All manifestations of sexuality have become a taboo. This paper discusses potential breaking of sexuality taboos in the social context.

    Artykuł dotyczy tendencji demaskatorskich w polskim teatrze dokumentalnym. W pierwszej części Autorka podejmuje próbę ujęcia differentia specifica teatru dokumentalnego i rozważa przyczyny zwiększonego zainteresowania tym nurtem zarówno ze strony profesjonalnych krytyków, jak i potocznych widzów. Druga część tekstu stanowi analizę spektaklu Zakonnice odchodzą po cichu, zrealizowanego w opolskim Teatrze im. Jana Kochanowskiego. Przedstawienie powstało na kanwie głośnego reportażu Marty Abramowicz, która przeprowadziła dwadzieścia rozmów z byłymi mniszkami. Twórczynie spektaklu poszerzyły jego spektrum tematyczne o problem aktorstwa i poszukiwały analogii pomiędzy powołaniem zakonnym i misją społeczną aktora. Rozważając problem demaskatorskiego charakteru nagrodzonego Złotą Maską dzieła teatralnego, Autorka konstatuje, iż dotyczy ono kwestii tabuizowanych w publicznym dyskursie i dlatego generuje tak silne emocje widzów. Relacje sióstr, które odeszły z zakonu to ich subiektywna prawda, to zwierzenia intencjonalnie hiperbolizujące ciemną stronę zakonnej rzeczywistości. Niemniej przełamują one milczenie na temat realiów zakonnego życia i animują dyskusję dotyczącą podrzędnej roli kobiet w strukturach Kościoła. Teatr dokumentalny ma zatem potencjał odkrywania treści niepopularnych, traktowanych jako społeczne tabu.

    This paper discusses the appearance of taboo topics in social advertising. It analyses the taboos employed by the authors of social campaigns in order to raise awareness of social issues relevant to their contemporary society. The corpus comprises slogans from French, Italian and Polish social campaigns.
    L’article traite du tabou dans la publicité sociétale. En s’appuyant sur les exemples relevés dans un corpus de campagnes sociétales francophones, italiennes et polonaises, l’auteur analyse les tabous auxquels recourent les spécialistes de la publicité en question en vue de sensibiliser le destinataire aux sujets importants pour la société contemporaine.

    Opis:
    The aim of this paper is to analyse the use of taboos in social advertising, particularly of those aiming at raising the awareness of the general public on sexually transmitted diseases and other life threatening diseases, on physical or verbal violence and on deadly accidents. Thus, the article will examine the use of the somber irony in social marketing as it results from a corpus of slogans, posters, videoclips of social campaigns published on francophone and Polish sites between 1995 and 2006.
    Nous proposons d’analyser le recours aux domaines tabouisés dans la publicité sociétale visant la sensibilisation du public aux infections sexuellement transmissibles ainsi qu’aux autres dangers menaçant la santé, à la violence physique ou verbale et aux accidents mortels. La contribution aura pour l’objet d’examiner l’emploi de l’ironie sombre dans la publicité sociétale à partir d’un corpus constitué par des slogans, des affiches et des clips vidéo des campagnes de sensibilisation relevées sur les sites francophones et polonais entre 1995 et 2016.

    Artykuł przedstawia obrzędy inicjacji chłopców u ludu Luguru we wschodniej Tanzanii. Autor postawił sobie za cel ukazanie znaczenia tradycyjnej edukacji w kształtowaniu wartości plemiennych, jaką zdobywali młodzieńcy podczas tego obrzędu. Opracowanie tego zagadnienia zostało dokonane na podstawie literatury takich autorów, jak: P. Pels, J.L. Brain, T.O. Beidelman i innych oraz własnych etnograficznych badań terenowych prowadzonych wśród ludu Luguru nad rytuałami przejścia w dniach 30.03.2003-30.04.2003. Inicjacja chłopców została zaprezentowana według modelu Arnolda van Gennepa. Według tej teorii rytuały przejścia dzielą się na trzy fazy: oddzielenia, przejścia i włączenia. Faza separacji charakteryzuje się odłączeniem od społeczności w celu przygotowania do przemiany mającej nastąpić w kolejnej fazie. Faza przejścia to czas symbolicznej śmierci, utraty starego imienia czy języka. Często zawiera dopełnienie obrzezania, ofiarę, post, może być czasem ciężkich prób i testów, podczas których nowicjusz zdobywa wiedzę związaną z życiem seksualnym, socjalnym i religijnym. Ostatnia faza to czas powrotu do społeczności, ale już jako nowa osoba, jako mężczyzna odpowiedzialny za swoje postępowanie i mający wyższy status społeczny.
    The article presents boys' initiation ritual among the Luguru people of eastern Tanzania. The author's goal is to show the importance of traditional education in shaping tribal values, gained by young men during this ritual. The development of this problem was based on the literature of authors such as P. Pels, J.L. Brain, T.O. Beidelman and others, and from my own ethnographic fieldwork conducted among the Luguru people on the rituals of passage from 30 March 2003 to 30 April 2003. Boys' initiation was presented by Arnold van Genneps' model. According to this theory, rites of passage are divided into three phases: separation, transition and incorporation. During the Separation phase, the young men disconnect from the community in order to prepare for Transition which will be in the next phase. The Transition phase is a time of symbolic death, the loss of the old name or language. It often includes fulfilment of circumcision, sacrifice, and fasting. This phase can sometimes offer severe trials and tests, during which the novice acquires knowledge related to his sexual, social and religious life. During the last phase, Incorporation, he returns to the community as a new person, a man responsible for his actions and having a higher social status.

    In the book Totem and taboo Sigmund Freud says that “the foundation of taboo is the forbidden action for whom exists in the sub-conscience a strong inclination”. Politics is a discipline that has been benefitcial/gainful to men from the beginning, has been shown for advantage the men who awake constraint emotions, like admiration, curiosity, but also jealousy or disregard. By the emergence of social media, like Twitter or Facebook, and thanks to liberty of expression on the internet, we observe strong inclination for our sub-conscience that is satisfied with no limits. We were interested in our research in the taboo of alcoholic inclinations of polish ex-president, Aleksander Kwaśniewski who is still alive in the internet. With visual support and at the same time modern means of communication in the Internet, the memes, we will present the company of denigration which is caused by the hate using the irony and the euphemism as a way to break the taboo that exists for 25 years. Our clasement will base on the corpus created from about a hundred memes taken from the Facebook fanpage “Aleksander Kwaśniewski Memes”. Putting aside the sociolinguistic analysis, we will proceed the classification of the memes from the point of vew of their construction, distinguishing the figures, the allusions, the neologisms, the “borrowed” words, the graphic and the phonetic changes which can be observed.
    Dans le livre Totem et tabou Sigmund Freud remarque que « le fondement du tabou est une action interdite pour laquelle il existe dans l’inconscient une forte inclination ». La politique est un domaine qui, depuis son apparition, met en valeur des hommes qui éveillent en même temps des émotions ambiguës comme l’admiration, la curiosité, voire parfois la jalousie et le mépris. Avec l’émergence des réseaux sociaux (Twitter et Facebook) et grâce à la liberté d’expression sur Internet, on constate que cette forte inclination de notre inconscient peut enfin être assouvie sans limites. Le but de notre communication sera de présenter comment le tabou concernant les penchants vers l’alcool de l’ex-président de la Pologne Aleksander Kwaśniewski demeure sur Internet. A l’aide de supports visuels et à la fois d’outils contemporains de la communication sur Internet - des mèmes, nous allons présenter une campagne de dénigrement relevant du hate dans laquelle l’euphémisme et l’ironie sont responsables de la rupture d’un tabou datant d’il y a près de 25 ans. Notre classement sera effectué sur un corpus d’une centaine de mèmes tirés essentiellement de Facebook et du fanpage « Aleksander Kwaśniewski Memes ». Mis à part l’analyse sociolinguistique de ce phénomène, nous allons procéder à un classement de ces mèmes du point de vue de leur construction en distinguant entre autres les figures, les allusions, les néologismes, les emprunts, les jeux graphiques et phonétiques qui s’y produisent.

    Contemporary prose frequently deals with ‘family martyrdom’. The heroines of Kaja Malanowska’s Patrz na mnie Klaro obsessively return to their difficult family past. Inherited strain turns into other idiosyncrasies. Grażyna Maroszczuk’s sketch entitled ‘Without anaesthesia. On difficult family relations. Kaja Malanowka Patrz na mnie Klaro’ focuses on the analysis of women’s entanglements that are still alive, though acquired in the past. Experiences from childhood become the matrix for reading the world in adulthood. On the other hand – according to Stephen M. Johnson’s Humanizing the Narcissistic Style – one may say that we fail to dispose of the behaviours that are an integral part of our culture, which is contrary to life and which puts achievements above pleasure, status above love and appearances above reality. It puts the heroines of the above-mentioned novels in an oppressive situation in which a contemporary woman is forced to reconcile a career and intellectual ambitions with family life.

    Opis:
    Our contribution deals with computer-mediated communication, especially social networks. Our main task is to answer the question if sexuality in the context of new media continue to be perceived as a taboo. Based on examples of different types of selfies, we try to prove that the perception of sexuality in the context of computer mediated communication is constantly changing and ceases to be a taboo topic. Proof of this constatation is different types of selfies, which the author divides into three main categories: selfies revealing intimate parts of human body, selfies showing underwear and selfies that reveal the sexual act itself.
    Notre contribution s’intéresse à la communication médiée par ordinateur, en particulier aux réseaux sociaux. L’objectif principal de notre recherche est de savoir si la sexualité dans le contexte des nouveaux médias continue d’être perçue comme un tabou. En nous basant sur un corpus des selfie variés, nous essayons de prouver que la perception de la sexualité dans le contexte de la communication médiée par ordinateur change constamment et cesse d’être un sujet tabou. La preuve de cette constatation est une grande variété des selfies, que l’auteur classe en trois catégories principales : selfies dévoilant les parties intimes du corps humain, selfies montrant les sous-vêtements et selfies montrant l’acte sexuel.

    Forced labour is a social phenomenon which is difficult to comprehend and accept due to its exceptional nature. The existing legal definition is not very helpful. This article reflects on a different approach to understanding forced labour and a different operational definition of the phenomenon. The starting point is to look at forced labour from the perspective of social pragmatism and symbolic interactionism by referring to the humanistic coefficient, a concept developed one hundred years ago. Using the experience of Poland in unsuccessful attempts to deal with forced labour, but also referring to global experiences in that field, this article attempts to define the phenomenon in the context of work in general. The key question that arises here is this that if work is a noble and socially visible phenomenon, how is it then that forced labour is almost completely invisible, not only to people, but also to law enforcement? It is suggested in this text that forced labour, burdened with a strong social taboo, is hidden behind a façade of the nobility of labour. At the end of the article, there is a proposal for a new analytical scheme with which the phenomenon can be described in a completely different language than that of criminal justice.   Praca przymusowa jest zjawiskiem społecznym, które ze względu na swój wyjątkowy charakter jest trudne do zrozumienia i zaakceptowania. Istniejąca definicja prawna nie jest szczególnie pomocna. W artykule przedstawione jest inne podejście do rozumienia pracy przymusowej oraz nieco inna, ale operacyjna definicja tego zjawiska. Punktem wyjścia jest spojrzenie na pracę przymusową z perspektywy społecznego pragmatyzmu i symbolicznego interakcjonizmu, odwołujące się do koncepcji współczynnika humanistycznego, wypracowanej sto lat temu. Patrząc na doświadczenia Polski, tzn. nieudane próby radzenia sobie z problemem pracy przymusowej, ale także na podobne doświadczenia w skali globalnej, podejmuję próbę zdefiniowania samego zjawiska – jako takiego, ale także w kontekście pracy w ogóle. Kluczowe pytanie, które się pojawia, brzmi: praca jest zjawiskiem szlachetnym i społecznie widocznym, więc jak to jest, że praca przymusowa jest tak mało widoczna dla ludzi, ale także dla organów ścigania? Stawiam tezę, że praca przymusowa, obciążona silnym społecznym tabu, skrywa się za fasadą pracy, jako zjawiska wyjątkowo godnego i szlachetnego. W końcowej części artykułu pojawia się propozycja nowego schematu analitycznego, który pozwoli opisać  zjawisko pracy przymusowej, zupełnie innym językiem niż język wymiaru sprawiedliwości w sprawach karnych, ale przed wszystkim, jako fenomen społeczny.

Autorzy sygnalizują pola badawcze, które należałoby pogłębić rzetelnymi badaniami empirycznymi, takie jak: edukacja seksualna, dostęp młodzieży do pornografii, przemoc na tle seksualnym, ryzykowne zachowania dzieci i młodzieży, zagadnienie młodzieży LGBT+, a wreszcie niemal całkowicie pomijany wątek seksualności młodzieży z niepełnosprawnościami.
    Introduction. Youth sexuality remains a taboo in Poland. Leaving young people without sexual education, downplaying and distorting the essence of psychosexual development results in a lack of understanding of the processes occurring in their bodies, a lack of knowledge about health, norms, emotional aspects, and building relationships, and ultimately, a lack of understanding of their own sexuality. As a consequence, young people bear both the emotional and behavioural costs of these shortcomings. Aim. This text aims to outline the most essential themes related to youth sexuality, which are still insufficiently addressed in the academic and educational discourse by referring to the most important papers within the discussed topic. Materials and Methods. The study involves desktop research, including academic articles, monographs, and research reports. Results. The authors signal research fields that should be deepened through reliable empirical studies, such as sexual education, access to pornography, sexual violence, risky behaviours of children and adolescents, the issue of LGBT+ youth, and lastly, the almost entirely overlooked subject of youth sexuality of people with disabilities.

    Celem referatu jest omówienie nieczystości w dyskusjach publicznych, która wykracza poza dobre obyczaje językowe. Jest to forma nadużycia językowego, obniżająca publiczną przyzwoitość.W sporach publicznych nie myśli się o niej w znaczeniu religijnym, ale przede wszystkim w kontekście moralności społecznej, a w szczególności zasad moralnych. O „nieczystości” mówi się tam, gdzie dostrzega się słabość moralną człowieka, jego stan moralnie patologiczny, dno, upadek, brak umiejętności konsekwentnego kierowania się zasadami moralnymi i podporządkowania im swojego działania w sferze społecznej. Przez „nieczystość” użytkownicy języka wskazują na niemożliwość zaakceptowania krzywdy człowieka, niesprawiedliwego prawa, bezczynności wobec zła.
    The purpose of the paper is to discuss impurity in public discussions that goes beyond good language practices. It is a form of linguistic abuse that reduces public decency. In public disputes, it is not thought of in a religious sense, but primarily in the context of social morality, and in particular moral principles. The “uncleanness” is spoken of where one sees the moral weakness of man, his morally pathological condition, bottom, fall, lack of the ability to consistently follow moral principles and subordinate them to their actions in the social sphere. Through “uncleanness,” language users point to the inability to accept human harm, unfair law, and inaction against evil.

    The trial of Oscar Wilde, which was widely commented on in the Czech decadent magazine “Moderní revue”, not only revealed the range of the social condemnation of homosexuality,but also opened a discussion about distinctive features of the homosexual identity. The poetry and prose of Jiří Karásek from Lvovice, in the common opinion representing first of all the decadent world outlook, may be regarded as an attempt to bring closer these determinants of the homoerotic way of love and life to the reader. To accomplish this task the writer needed to find out the appropriate literary medium. Karásek rediscovered it in devices of symbolic and decadent poetics, which enable to replace the literal senses of representation by means of semantic undecidability. This solution allowed him to suggest the personal sincerity of the literaryexpression and to avoid allegations of affectations and decadent pose.

    The analysis is part of research on communication, especially the one concerning informative media strategy. It is responsible for creating semiotic-discursive construction of reality. Media undertake social discussion, which often leads to relativization of socio-cultural values in society. As a result, some concepts devaluate while others undergo social valuation. Doxa as the basis of social perception continues to be discussed and in some cases particular categorical imperatives are subject to the process of abolishing the taboo or quite the opposite. Such discussion is necessary firstly because of principles which regulate functioning of mass society and secondly because of ideas valued as paradigms of democratic behaviours. The analysis is limited to a number of euphemistic uses in French and Polish informative media. Its purpose is to find out whether euphemistic denominations influence creating particular social attitudes and whether they play a role in creating social identity. The above mentioned problem is directly connected with the phenomenon of information mediatisation in democratic societies. It is closely related to research on the area ideologisation because media create particular images of social reality. The analysis is also embedded in the context of social cognition, mainly by the aspect of appraisal and doxa.
    L’article présente quelques éléments de réflexion susceptibles de contribuer au développement d’une étude sur la portée sociale de l’euphémisation à l’exemple du discours médiatique. L’analyse porte sur quelques emplois euphémiques présents dans la presse française et polonaise (presse magazine et presse d’information générale) et doit répondre aux questions suivantes : les dénominations euphémiques auxquelles les agents médiatiques ont recours provoquent-elles l’instauration de nouvelles attitudes sociales, le changement des stéréotypes ou l’évolution dans les schèmes perceptifs ? Finalement, sont-elles importantes dans la création de l’identité sociale ? Le problème sera discuté d’abord dans le contexte de la doxa propre aux comportements des consommateurs (à l’exemple de la presse féminine) et ensuite, de celle qui est due à la citoyenneté contemporaine (à l’exemple de la presse d’information générale). Dans le second cas, il s’agit de l’emploi des dénominations désignant le statut matrimonial des personnes non mariées. On s’inspire de l’étude faite par Bonhomme et Horak (2009), selon laquelle l’euphémisation s’opère sur le contenu doxal propre à une société.
