    Opis:
    All attempts at describing the mystery of salvation are only partial. The idea of salvation, although it is considered a little archaic today, deserves being examined closely again as one of the concepts that belong to absolutely key ones. It appears as a “structure of our construction and of our future”, so it refers to the essence of man and is sort of “prophecy of his existence”. Theology of salvation appears to every man as a promise – or a suggestion – that a man is not alone and that he builds himself, exceeding himself and accepting the fact that God is different. Salvation is always visible where a certain “possibility”, a potentiality emerges in front of a human person; that is, where a being is not completed and has a perspective of being positively different. Salvation is where there is a meaning. Who utters the word “salvation”, says that nothing in his life of in the history of the world is subject to fatalism, nothing is inexcusable, impossible to mend, incurable. This truth testifies that although God has not liberated us from evil yet, He has liberated us from the tyranny of evil. Christ’s salvation shows – and here it is exceptional again – what reality should be like for us and by us, and what it will be like through God’s faithfulness to His promises and through faithfulness of our response.

    The search for salvation is an obviously important component of the quest. For many people in this essentially individualistic culture, it is a preoccupation that virtually eclipses the idea of social justice, the other central dimension of the search. At the very least, the pursuit of salvation offers a point of entry. Definitions of salvation are diverse and often incompatibilie. In American civil religion everyone had a right to pass through the zone of abundance, and in time, it was thought, everyone would. As the goal of general abundance was approached the major social problems of discrimination, poverty, unemployment, divisive material inequalities and environmental stress would become manageable. Some people might define abundance itself as the promised land: others might move on from material satiety to new psychological and spiritual frontiers.

    Opis:
    This article expounds the rediscovered and unpublished manuscript by Father Franciszek Mirek God Christ and the People. A Sociological Study. Father Franciszek Mirek was the first Polish sociologist who was a member of the group of Florian Zaniecki’s students. The recovered manuscript offers an innovative look at the elements of the history of salvation seen through the eyes of a sociologist. The introduction to the paper presents the profile of Father Franciszek Mirek and his most important works. Further parts present the rediscovered manuscript of Fr. Mirek. On its basis the following issues are discussed: the Bible as a source of sociographic data, people as partners in relationship with Christ, the apogee of relations between God and a man in the mystery of the Incarnation of the Son of God and faith as a precondition of human communication with God Christ.

    Kościół na przestrzeni dziejów koegzystował z wieloma formami organizacji życia gospodarczego oraz społecznego. Dokonywał on oceny każdego z tych systemów według zasad moralnych i etycznych. W ten sposób spełniał swoją profetyczną funkcję w świecie współczesnym, w której ramach poczytuje on sobie za obowiązek krytyczne spojrzenie na istniejące i proponowane modele życia społecznego. Taka krytyka nie może być spostrzegana jako mieszanie się Kościoła w sprawy społeczne. Ukazanie błędów istniejących w danym systemie życia społecznego ma przede wszystkim na celu jeszcze mocniejsze podkreślenie fundamentalnych zasad, na jakich powinno opierać się życie społeczne. Zapewne zawsze będą istniały pewne braki i błędy w konkretnych systemach społecznych, co wiąże się z prawdą o tym, że te systemy i struktury tworzy człowiek naznaczony rozdarciem, a więc zdolny do grzechu. W tym świetle profetyczna i krytyczna funkcja Kościoła będzie zawsze potrzebna.
    Over the centuries the Church has co-existed with numerous forms of organisation of economic and social life. The Church has made the assessment of each of the systems in accordance with the moral and ethical rules. In this way it performed its prophetic function in the modern world, within the range of which it assumes its responsibility for critical look at the existing and proposed models of social life. Such criticism cannot be treated as interference of the Church into social matters. Pointing at mistakes occurring in a given system of social life aims at putting stronger emphasis on the principal rules which the social life should be based on. Certainly, there will always be some deficiencies and mistakes in particular social systems, which is connected with the fact that the systems and structures are created by a human affected by inner conflicts and, as a result, able to commit a sin. Thus, in view of the above, the prophetic role of the Church will always be necessary.
