Development of civilization, in addition to its undoubted advantages, also brought many risks which include new types of addictions. There are dozens of addictions associated with modern civilization, the development of techniques and various inventions and customs change. The group particularly at risk of addiction, which involves development of civilization are children and young people. Therefore, they should be subject to particularly intense interactions in prevention. Early action can protect against the dangers, but also indicate how to cope in difficult situations, how to avoid hazards or whom, if necessary, ask for help. In this respect, the most appropriate would appear common actions taken by the child's family home and school, which are the basic educational environment. In this article, the author attempts to present the most common “new” addictions threatening children and adolescents.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to present and describe how to counteract threats to social security through sport. The theoretical method of analysis and criticism of the literature was used in the research work. The conducted research allowed to determine that mainly trainers and pedagogues play an important role in the prevention of risky behavior. The review of the literature allowed to conclude that the research work is based primarily on surveys and currently only a few researchers conduct research on combating social security threats through physical activity. In connection with the above, it is necessary to continue research in this direction, using such research methods as the individual case method.

Social safety includes all the legal acts and organizational activities carried out by the government, non-governmental entities and citizens themselves. They aim to assure a certain level of life to the individuals, families and social groups refraining them from social marginalization. 1 The threats to social safety should be prevented by the state. Social pathologies are one of them. They constitute various social phenomena and individual or social groups’ attitudes that are contradictory to the values of certain cultures and cause some social damages. Some of the threats are as following: prostitution, violence, drug addiction, criminality, suicidal behavior, vandalism, and alcoholism. Nowadays the threats connected with alcoholism are increasing. It is due to the advertisement and widespread availability 2. Alcohol abuse not only entails serious health and social issues but it also has detrimental effects on one’s emotions and socio-economic situation.

The media policy of television stations treats attracting viewers’ attention as the primordial principle of their operation. The use of pathological content that crosses the boundaries of the normative system on screen has become a new media practice and a strategy for increasing viewership. An example of such production is tv programme “Chłopaki do wzięcia”, described as ‘documentary’. Its protagonists are men and women from Polish villages and small towns who are looking for love. The author attempts to examine the ‘reality’ presented in the programme “Chłopaki do wzięcia” by means of content analysis, which is the starting point for the analysis of social representations. He uses theoretical categories concerning new media practices, such as: humiliation culture, victim show theory, stereotypes and media voyeurism. The aim of this article is an attempt to identify media images and specific interpretations of reality in the programme “Chłopaki do wzięcia”, which, in the author’s opinion, contribute to maintaining a negative image of rural inhabitants by transmitting social pathology to television. Moreover, the author makes an attempt to outline the policies followed by the producers of “Guys for the Taking” to explain its popularity and the reasons behind its creation.

The article discusses the problem of counteracting academic promotion won on the basis of apparent achievements. Attention was drawn to the growing problem of so-called “Slovak habilitation and degrees”, to the pedagogical promotion of persons from outside of pedagogy that is not justified by achievements of good quality, but is based on popular science publications, to the phenomenon of softening and ignoring negative reviews and the reviewers’ tendency to mitigate the final conclusions of their opinions. Some ways to prevent promotional pathology are also recommended as worth using in academic practices.

This paper provides an overview concerning the connections between prevention and social work. Both these types of activity have a common origin because they are derived from the theory of social pedagogy. At present, there is a growing need for social security as well as prevention which attempts to go beyond the existing facts and prevent aggravation of pathological phenomena in families and local communities. A major role in social security is played by social work performed with the aim of improving the functioning of individuals and families in their natural habitat. It includes elements of prevention preceded by a good diagnosis as well as pre-planned and methodical influencing based on the contract with the client. Both social work and prevention have the same axiological bases, which means that the supreme value is man who has the right to development, social participation and self-determination despite the difficulties they encounter. In addition to many other functions, social work also fulfils the preventive function through the actions that are undertaken in order to prevent the occurrence or development of adverse behaviours, states or phenomena in a particular population. The essence of these actions is to counteract such threats the occurrence or intensification of which is probable in the future.
Artykuł ma charakter przeglądowy i dotyczy ukazania związków między profilaktyką a pracą socjalną. Oba rodzaje działalności mają wspólną genezę, ponieważ wywodzą się z teorii pedagogiki społecznej. Obecnie rośnie zapotrzebowanie na pomoc społeczną, jak i profilaktykę, która stara się wyprzedzać istniejące fakty i zapobiegać pogłębianiu się zjawisk patologicznych w rodzinach i społecznościach lokalnych. Ważną rolę w pomocy społecznej odgrywa praca socjalna, wykonywana na rzecz poprawy funkcjonowania osób i rodzin w ich naturalnym środowisku. Zawiera ona elementy profilaktyki, poprzedzonej dobrą diagnozą, zaplanowanym i metodycznym oddziaływaniem opartym na kontrakcie z klientem. Zarówno praca socjalna, jak i profilaktyka mają te same podstawy aksjologiczne – najwyższą wartością jest człowiek, który ma prawo do rozwoju, uczestnictwa w życiu społecznym i samostanowienia, pomimo trudności, na jakie napotyka.

In the years between 1944–1955 lasting foundations of the Polish economy were created based on communist dogma. In the mid-1950 s the so called socialized sector provided 75% of national income, however, multidirectional changes in economic policy in the following decades caused fluctuations in its importance. The changes were expressed by increases and decreases in the private sector share of jobs. As a result, the socialized sector was at its the peak in the 1970 s (86% share of the socialized sector in national income) only to fall to 81% of national income in the last year of communist rule. The dominance of the public sector was responsible for widespread mismanagement and social pathologies which led to the collapse of the economically inefficient system, preceded by a number of socio-political crises

Społeczeństwa na całym świecie borykają się z wieloma rodzajami negatywnych za-chowań. Do najczęstszych zjawisk patologicznych zalicza się te wynikające z uzależnień jak narkomania i alkoholizm, a z patologii seksualnych – prostytucję. Powszechna jest też prze-moc w różnych dziedzinach życia społecznego, przestępczość oraz wiele niewłaściwych zachowań w cyberprzestrzeni. Zachowania patologiczne występujące w społecznościach są czynnikiem warunkującym stan bezpieczeństwa, który z kolei wpływa na poczucie bezpieczeństwa mieszkańców, szczególnie w małych miejscowościach.
Societies around the world struggle with many types of negative behaviors. The most common pathological phenomena include those resulting from addictions, such as drug ad-diction and alcoholism, and from sexual pathologies - prostitution. Violence in various areas of social life, crime and many inappropriate behaviors in cyberspace are also common. Patho-logical behaviors occurring in communities are a factor that determines the state of security, which in turn affects residents’ sense of security, especially in small towns.

Niniejszy artykuł poświęcony jest zagadnieniu samobójstwa w ujęciu fenomenu kulturowego na przykładzie „Klubu 27”. Wspomniany klub dotyczy artystów, którzy zmarli w wieku 27 lat z różnych powodów, w tym zabójstw, przedawkowania substancji psychoaktywnych oraz samobójstw. Ich śmierć wpisała się jako symbol popkultury. W pierwszej części artykułu omówione zostało zagadnienie samobójstwa, w drugiej części zaś opisano sylwetki i okoliczności śmierci wybranych suicydentów należących do „Klubu 27”. Zakończenie stanowi ukonstytuowanie wniosków wynikających z analizy treści źródeł internetowych.
This article is devoted to the issue of suicide in terms of a cultural phenomenon on the example of "Club 27". This club covers artists who died at the age of 27 for a variety of reasons, including homicide, drug overdose and suicide. Their deaths became a symbol of pop culture. The first part of the article discusses the issue of suicide, while the second part describes the profiles and circumstances of the deaths of selected suicides belonging to the "27 Club". The conclusion is the constitution of the conclusions resulting from the analysis of the content of internet sources.
