The aim of this paper is to extract and describe recent social initiatives in food consumption and distribution in Poland and indicate their characteristics related to sustainable consumption, sharing economy and collaborative consumption and to indicate the processes, mechanisms and future development options. Food is among areas that seem to adapt to those ideas more easily which means that individual consumers seem to see value in behaving in a more responsible way. In Poland, social awareness is rather limited and responsible behavior happens on a minor scale for the moment, but more international research shows the great potential of sharing economy. Food is being wasted therefore it constitutes a good ground for changing consumption habits. The paper presents four chosen social initiatives in Poland that refer to a sustainable consumption philosophy and collaborative consumption. Those mini case studies are backed by a thorough analysis of relevant literature, theme contents on websites, and results of secondary research studies dedicated to the issues discussed in the paper. Due to the qualitative character of the study, it shall be followed by more quantitative research to allow for more general insights and conclusions.

Opis:
This paper aims at identification of environmental initiatives and measures that affect maritime ports. The first part of the article describes the trend and drivers towards application of environmental measures in port sector. The second part describes the application of environmental measures and social elements at Port of Koper and analyses the main fields of environmental development. The Port of Koper can be used as the case platform for other similar and equally sized ports in the region, therefore a six pillar environmental with a social pillar platform is presented. The study results could help port management to define a scenario for a faster introduction of environmental and social objectives and measures in order to follow sustainable development and position itself in the future green and sustainable supply chains.
Artykuł ma na celu identyfikację inicjatyw i działań, które mają wpływ na środowisko portów morskich. Pierwsza część artykułu opisuje trend i działania podejmowane w kierunku ochrony środowiska w sektorze portowym. Druga część opisuje przykład portu Koper, analizując wprowadzane rozwiązania odnoszące się do aspektów społecznych i środowiskowych. Koper stanowić może punkt odniesienia dla innych portów w regionie Adriatyku o porównywalnej wielkości, dlatego wyznaczono składający się z 6 elementów model środowiskowy, uwzględniając także uwarunkowania społeczne. Wyniki badań mogą pomóc w zarządzaniu portami, określając wzorcowy scenariusz dla szybszego wdrażania celów i działań tak środowiskowych, jak społecznych, zgodnych ze zrównoważonym rozwojem.

Żyjemy w epoce „płynnej nowoczesności”, w której coraz częściej wartość dzieł sztuki i kultury materialnej mierzona jest siłą nowości. „Artyści, których przodkowie utożsamiali wartość dzieła z wiecznością jego trwania, a przeto zabiegali jak mogli o jego niezniszczalność i nieskazitelną doskonałość (…), teraz popisują się instalacjami do rozmontowywania po zamknięciu wystawy, happeningami kończącymi się w chwili, gdy uwaga ich aktorów uleci ku innym sprawom, owijaniem mostów w płachty plastikowe do chwili wznowienia ruchu kołowego” [Bauman 2010, s. 16]. Sztuka, o której wspomina Bauman, jej ulotność, tymczasowość, czasami wręcz powierzchowność, jest odzwierciedleniem współczesności, a pojęcia takie jak, piękno czy wartość dzieła sztuki, nadal są poddawane wiarygodnej i przekonującej próbie czasu. W Polsce po 1989 r., tj. w okresie transformacji ustrojowej, ulegając zachłyśnięciu się nowością, skutecznie wyeliminowano wiele wartościowych obiektów architektury i sztuki, niektóre przez zwykłe zaniedbanie, inne z powodu ich proweniencji. Jest to spowodowane brakiem świadomości co do wartości obiektów kultury materialnej przez co z pejzażu polskich miast zniknęło bezpowrotnie wiele pereł powojennej architektury modernistycznej. „Choroba braku ciągłości tocząca polską politykę (na szczeblu centralnym i samorządowym każda ekipa musi zaczynać wszystko od nowa) znalazła (…) architektoniczny ekwiwalent. To co nowe jest z zasady lepsze od tego, co było, przez sam fakt, że jest nowe. Na żadną głębszą refl eksję nie ma tu miejsca” [Springer 2016]. Razem z budynkami znikają towarzyszące im, często wybitne, dekoracje ścienne, będące świadectwem minionych czasów. „W Polsce epoki komunizmu od końca lat 50. do 80. powstały monumentalne kompozycje ścienne wykonywane w technikach malarstwa, mozaiki i sgraffi ta. Część z nich była propagandą systemu politycznego – zarówno w formie obrazów i haseł propagandowych, jak i quasi-reklam ówczesnych instytucji, państwowych zakładów przemysłowych i marek, których produkty z reguły nie były w kraju dostępne [Gralińska-Taborek, Kazimierska-Jerzyk 2014]. Z dzisiejszego punktu widzenia – odrzucając wszelkie negatywne konteksty – wiele z nich odznaczało się wysokim poziomem artystycznym. Niejednokrotnie zamawiano je u renomowanych artystów. Do dzisiaj przetrwały te, które wykonano w klasycznych, trwałych technikach, (takich jak sgraffi to czy mozaika) i nie padły ofi arą niszczenia „reliktów z minionej epoki”.
The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the role of social activities, which are able to stimulate among the community a sense of responsibility for the material and cultural heritage. It was assumed, that for the local communities the city becomes a kind of the memory space. The phrase, ambience or atmosphere of place, is expressing the mutual connection between inhabitants and their closest environment. That special type of relationship can cause reaction on even slight changes, which are often perceived as possible threat and violation of safety. The starting point for the article was the demolition of the Neptun Cinema building. This action led to the threat of destruction of unique mosaics of Anna Fiszer. The eff ort to save the composition before it’s annihilation has consolidated the various social groups. This situation also realized them the size of negligence in archiving of art in the public space, created in the post-war period and additionally the scale of omission in the area of administrative and legal decisions. In this context one question was posed – what makes that a dynamic developing city forgets to carry out a constructive discussion regarding the protection and presence of art in public space? The article indicates that the social impulse can have a positive effect on endeavor to preserve the most precious objects of art and architecture, and likewise in raising awareness of designers, architects, investors, city authorities and local government as well.

Opis:
Social initiatives taking place in the public space are an increasingly frequent phenomenon in the Polish cities. This article aims to identify the trends of bottom-up action for the landscape. It attempts to demonstrate the importance and potential in the observation of social activities for the purpose of making changes in the landscape. Natural environment, vegetation and diverse public space give possibility of relaxation in the city and are guarantors of the quality of the urban space. Degradation of the urban space requires corrective actions, which are often organized by non governmental activists. These initiatives point to the current problems of local communities which, through their actions, try to make changes in their nearest surrounding. Initiatives described in the article are divided into educational and cultural activities taking place in the public spaces, including green areas, which are often the "scene" of social activities. City dwellers through their actions illustrate, that there are no doubts about the positive impact of green areas on their quality of life.

Transformacja systemowa wyzwoliła ludzką energię, w tym powstanie organizacji pozarządowych, które szybko zaczęły wypełniać przestrzeń społeczną. Wywołuje to pytania nie tylko o tożsamość ideową, ale również o kondycję nowych społecznych tworów. Czy wyzwoloną energię i powstające podmioty można utożsamiać z budową infrastruktury społeczeństwa obywatelskiego? Jednym z wyróżniających się pod tym względem obszarów jest województwo pomorskie, gdzie o aktywności obywatelskiej w niezależnych strukturach organizacyjnych świadczą statystyki, wskazujące na relatywnie duże nasycenie działającymi organizacjami, jak również oryginalność oraz waga powstających inicjatyw i rozwiązań systemowych. Jednak mimo pionierskich rozwiązań uwidaczniają się istotne problemy dalszych przemian, przede wszystkim niski poziom inwestycji w trzeci sektor, co nie pozwala na jego instytucjonalny i profesjonalny rozwój, niezbędny w budowaniu kapitału społecznego.
The systemic transformation brought about an outburst of civic initiatives which started to spread over the social area of the country at a dynamic pace. The region which stands out in this respect is Pomerania. These are not only statistical data that confi rm the range of civic activity in independent organizational structures in Pomerania, where the number of non-governmental organizations is impressive, but also the uniqueness and signifi cance of the initiatives and systemic solutions that occur here, which makes the region exceptional. What is also of much importance in Pomerania is the relationship between the public sector and the non-governmental sector. However, despite innovative solutions, the level of investment in the third sector which would allow for its institutional and professional development, indispensable in creating social capital, is still not adequate.

In the urban space we can see less and less elements of animate and inanimate nature. The dominance of skyscrapers, office buildings, and large-scale shopping malls contributes to limiting the development of children and adults in the natural environment. Limited green areas, prevent contact with the ecosystem. The remaining few Family Allotment Gardens located for example in Warsaw, as well as the establishment of community gardens on the initiative of local residents, can be a form of creating social bonds and an ecological awareness. Through this kind of participation for environmental protection, we can educate children, youth and adults about the need to raise the level of environmental issues. The article presents qualitative research consisting of the analysis of documents concerning local initiatives disseminated in the mass media and on the websites of local, non-governmental bodies. Not every person is looking for such information, so not everyone understands the need to preserve green areas and the possibility of integration and popularization of knowledge in the field of environmental protection. The article will also present the works of The Maria Grzegorzewska University students who were to design a garden located at educational institutions. Ideas of students will be presented in the photographs. The subject matter is undoubtedly necessary to show among educators the relationship between the city – the individual – society, for example upbringing in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. Teaching about ecology at the Maria Grzegorzewska University at the department of Education for Sustainable Development may be an example combining pedagogy with ecology, as part of the APS Jubilee celebrations.

The purpose of this article is to analyse educational activities undertaken in the area ofsocial entrepreneurship. The main conclusions are that respondents do not know about social entrepreneurship and social initiatives are undertaken only to a minimal extent; education for social entrepreneurship is at an unacceptable level. Thus, education in economics in Poland should be enriched with social economy and social entrepreneurship. An essential element that can positively affect the development of social entrepreneurship is the support of social activities undertaken by young people within a broader debate about the social dimension of our lives.

Przeprowadzona w artykule analiza idei wychowawczych i inicjatyw społecznych Galicji okresu autonomii ujawnia kilka istotnych elementów. Biorąc pod uwagę podstawy uzasadnienia oparte na zasadach społecznych Kościoła katolickiego, dla których impulsem była między innymi encyklika Leona XIII Rerum novarum, należy wskazać na dwa aspekty. Ukierunkowanie na „katolickość” kształtującą tożsamość dla odradzającego się narodu nie ma wymiaru uniwersalistycznego dla społeczeństwa pluralistycznego. Sytuacja społeczno-polityczna tylko częściowo uzasadnia takie podejście. Podjęta przez duchownych i osoby związane z Kościołem katolickim praca społeczna pozwoliła na odbudowanie zaufania do tegoż Kościoła.
The article analyses the educational ideas and social initiatives of the period of autonomy in Galicia, revealing several important elements. Two aspects should be pointed out by taking into account the rationale of the social principles of the Catholic Church, for which the impetus was provided by Leo XIII’s encyclical Rerum novarum, The focus on ‘catholicity’ shaping an identity for a reborn nation does not have a universalist dimension for a pluralistic society. The socio-political situation only partially justifies this approach. The social work undertaken by the clergy and those associated with the Catholic Church has made it possible to rebuild trust in the Church.

Realizacja badań podjętych w ramach niniejszej pracy ma służyć celowi nadrzędnemu, jakim jest rozpoznanie potencjału inicjatywy lokalnej w kontekście aktywizacji społeczności lokalnych Łodzi. Główną metodą badawczą było studium przypadku oparte zarówno na analizie danych ilościowych dotyczących realizacji zadań w ramach inicjatyw lokalnych podejmowanych w Łodzi w latach 2013–2019, jak i analizie danych jakościowych (analizie treści) poszczególnych projektów, które zostały w tym czasie zrealizowane. Analiza ta umożliwia po pierwsze określenie skali wykorzystania wymienionego narzędzia w procesie współkształtowania przestrzeni miejskich przez społeczności lokalne, a po drugie, wskazanie podstawowych rodzajów działań podejmowanych przez mieszkańców, co pozwala na identyfikację ich podstawowych potrzeb i problemów, a przede wszystkim propozycji na ich zapewnienie lub rozwiązanie.
Presentation of the research results undertaken within the framework of this study is to serve the primary aim which is to identify the potential of local initiative instrument in the context of enhancing citizens’ involvement in solving local problems. The main research method was a case study method based both on the analysis of quantitative data concerning projects implemented as a part of local initiative instrument in Łódź in 2013–2019, and additionally, on the analysis of qualitative data (content analysis) of individual projects that were carried out in this period. This analysis provides the possibility to determine the scale of the use of this tool in the process of co-creating urban spaces by local communities and, moreover, to indicate the basic types of activities undertaken by residents which allows to identify their basic needs and problems and, above all, proposals on how to ensure or solve them.

This paper addresses the issue of social justice in promoting civic initiatives as instanced by hospice fellowships in the opinion of patients' families. The principle of justice decides about the shape of social order, therefore it is strictly connected with state activity with regard to law-making and public institutions. The hospice movement is anchored in local communities; it takes responsibility to help the dying to live a dignified life of the human person. Now the state's task, of whichwe speak in the first part of the paper, is to provide such conditions that civic fellowships could take and develop palliative support. The second part of the study presents some opinions of the patients' families with regard to civic initiatives. The analysis has shown that most of the closest relatives of the terminaly ill treat the fellowships that help the dying as an effect of social initiatives. Any activities that make up multidimensional support, voluntary activity, and various organisational forms of supportive centres have been defined as the most important manifestation of civily liberty.

Po klęsce powstania styczniowego w okresie wzmożonej polityki rusyfikacyjnej władze zaborcze niezbyt mocno angażowały się w rozwój różnych dziedzin życia społecznego w Królestwie Polskim. Konstatacja ta dotyczy także angażowania się przez obcą władzę w rozwój opieki medycznej mieszkańców prowincji Królestwa Polskiego. Dlatego też niezmiernie istotne stały się wszelkie inicjatywy podejmowane oddolnie celem wsparcia opieki zdrowotnej i osób potrzebujących pomocy. Społeczne formy wsparcia opieki medycznej na przykładzie guberni płockiej w drugiej połowie XIX stulecia stały się celem badawczym dr Marty Milewskiej. Poprzez analizę materiałów źródłowych różnej proweniencji i wykorzystanie literatury przedmiotu przygotowała ona monografię poszerzającą dotychczasowy stan historiografii w zakresie historii regionalnej Płocka i okolic. Praca ta będzie jednak przydatna także do badań o charakterze komparatystycznym.
After the defeat of the January Uprising, during the period of increased of Russification policy, the partitioning authorities were not very much involved in the development of various areas of social life in the Kingdom of Poland. This statement also applies to the involvement of foreign authorities in the development of medical care for the inhabitants of the provinces of the Kingdom of Poland. Therefore, all extremly initiatives to support healthcare and people in need of help have become extremely important. Social forms of support for medical care on the example of the Płock Governorate in the second half of the 19th century became the research goal of Dr. Marta Milewska. Through the analysis of source materials of various provenance and by using a literature on the subject, she prepared a monograph expanding the current state of historiography in the field of the regional history of Płock and the surrounding area. However, this work will also be useful for comparative research.

SMEs have initiated social responsible activities for enhancing their competitiveness in the export trade. The study aims to recognize the influence of international standards (ISO 9000, ISO 14000, SA 8000 and WRAP) on the competitiveness of knitted apparel export organizations in India. The study visualizes the commitment of business houses with internal and external social issues in their geo domain. Export organizations in the Indian apparel cluster, which exports products mainly to the USA and the European Union, have shown various contributions and are committed to social issues, especially workers’ welfare, even during a lull in the financial period. International buyers are also collaborating with the business houses towards social initiatives. This research study was confined to the Tiruppur apparel cluster in India, which is the single largest cluster, exporting 40% of the total Indian knitted garments to the world market. The study attempted to understand the level of social initiatives undertaken by SME apparel exporters in the Indian apparel industry. The study result also highlights the need for and significance of social standards over other competitive factors like price and quality.
Małe i średnie przedsiębiorstwa zapoczątkowały inicjatywy odpowiedzialności społecznej dla poprawy ich konkurencyjności w handlu i eksporcie. Praca ma na celu rozpoznanie wpływu międzynarodowych norm na konkurencyjność organizacji eksportujących Indyjskie wyroby dziane. Artykuł przedstawia powiązanie organizacji handlowych z wewnętrznymi i zewnętrznymi zagadnieniami społecznej odpowiedzialności. Organizacje eksportowe indyjskiego handlu odzieżą, które eksportują produkty głównie do USA i EU wykazują znaczne zainteresowanie zagadnieniami społecznymi produkcji, zwłaszcza dotyczącymi warunków pracy robotników, nawet przy panującym kryzysie. Międzynarodowi kupcy również współpracują z domami handlowymi w zakresie inicjatyw społecznych. Badania te dotyczą zgrupowania produkcji odzieży w Tippurze, które jest największe w Indiach eksportując 40% wszystkich indyjskich wyrobów dzianych. Badania przedstawiają próbę zrozumienia poziomu inicjatyw społecznych podejmowanych przez małe i średnie przedsiębiorstwa odzieżowe. Podkreślono również konieczność stosowania i znaczenie inicjatyw i norm społecznych w stosunku do innych czynników wpływających na konkurencyjność, takich jak cena i jakość.

In the article results of studies of the relations between values recognized by consumers and their attitude towards a company’s social initiatives of are presented. The values have been examined according to the typology suggested by Schwarz. Especially the correlation has been analyzed between recognizing values that are directed to the development of the common good and values directed to one’s own development on the one hand and the consumers’ attitude toward a company’s social initiatives on the other. The studies have shown that there is a positive, statistically significant correlation between recognizing values that are directed to the development of the common good and the consumers' attitude towards social initiatives put forward by a company.

This article comprises a synthetic general review, presentation analysis and assessment of interpretation and efficiency of main legal sources of protection of children’s rights in international, European and Polish home law. As well as other problems of social and individual safety of children and youth, against of all forms of violence and abuse, social orphanage and other pathologies, aimed at building of a general common feelings of their safety in everyday life and activities. Authors present the two complementary spheres of organized institutional protection, prevention and intervention of children’s rights, based on the most important sources of law and asses their implementation and functioning in practice in Poland. The first sphere of the Polish model and system of protection of children’s rights, based on both legal and material guarantees and instruments, are public – state and territorial self-governing administration authorities, dedicated organs, institutions such as Ombudsman of children’s rights, regional and local centers of social care, safety and protection of family life and all forms of intervention in case of all forms of crises, violence and abuse of children and youth. The second complementary spheres of very dynamic manifold activities and social initiatives of various NGO’s and informal groups and individual persons, aiming at effective protection of children’s rights. These nongovernmental activities, both initiate, stimulate and control different forms of real prevention, protection, intervention and defense of children and their rights and counteracting all forms of social orphanage, violence and abuse in social relations with children and adolescents in different domains of our life, as well private and public. Their main aim is increasing of the feeling of safety of children and youth in Poland on the grounds of proper implementation and interpretation of respective legal regulations

Associativism is a driver of agrarian modernization, crucial in the analysis of social change processes in rural communities. This article provides ethnographic evidence about types and practices of associativism in communities dedicated to coffee cultivation, in the Colombian Andes. It seeks contribute to academic discussions regarding the reformulation of development in Latin America. The field work considered the daily life of an agricultural association in the municipality of La Celia (Risaralda, Colombia), with the objective of analyzing the supposed associative weakness in Andean communities. The results show how situations of coffee economic crisis tend to motivate the sudden updating of local associative forms, under the protection of transnational organizations, who end up installing new productive dilemmas within communities. This phenomenon affects domestic sociabilities, which support local associativism. It also influences social trust and future associative aptitude.
El asociacionismo constituye un impulsor de la modernización agraria, crucial en el análisis de procesos de cambio social en comunidades rurales. El presente artículo aporta evidencia etnográfica sobre tipos y prácticas de asociacionismo en comunidades andinas dedicadas al cultivo de café, buscando contribuir a las discusiones relativas a la reformulación del desarrollo en Latinoamérica. El trabajo de campo abordó la cotidianidad de una asociación agrícola el municipio de La Celia (Risaralda, Colombia), con el objetivo de analizar la supuesta debilidad asociativa en comunidades andinas. Los resultados muestran cómo situaciones de crisis económica cafetera tienden a motivar la actualización súbita de formas asociativas locales, al amparo de organismos trasnacionales, que acaban instalando nuevos dilemas productivos al interior de las comunidades. Este fenómeno afecta sociabilidades domésticas, que vertebran el asociacionismo local. Influye también en la confianza social y en la aptitud asociativa futura.
