    Opis:
    In this study we examined how the size of non-formal groups between organisation members affect the transfer of knowledge in the context of the efficiency and effectiveness of this process. To analyse the dynamics of the transfer of knowledge the cellular automata model was used. The model is based on local interactions between members of the organisation, that take place in the nearest neighbourhood. These groups of close neighbours are represented by von Neumann's neighbourhood (four nearest-neighbours) and Moore's neighbourhood (four nearest-neighbours and four next-nearest neighbours) and complex neighbourhood (four nearest neighbours, four next-nearest neighbours and four next-next-neighbours). The results of the simulation show the influence of the size of the neighbourhood on the efficiency of knowledge transfer.

    Opis:
    The paper describes the level of sustainable development in Poland’s regions/provinces on the basis of various indicators that influence economic, social and environmental systems. Generally, sustainable regional development is the application of sustainable development at a regional, rather than local, national or global, level. It differs from regional development per se because the latter term is used more generally to describe economic development that emphasizes the alleviation of regional disparities. While regional development has an economic and equity emphasis, sustainable regional development seeks to incorporate environmental concerns. Sustainable regional development is economic development that can be sustained over time because it is aimed not only at building wealth but also at creating opportunities to contribute to and participate in the benefits of economic growth. The author formulates a hypothesis that the level of sustainable development varies from one province to another and has a different structure in each region. Korol evaluates the level and structure of sustainable development with the use of 35 indicators. The research applies to the years 1998 and 2005 and seeks to determine the changes that took place in individual areas of sustainable development in the intervening period. The research has confirmed a rule that a generally higher level of economic development is accompanied by higher social and environmental development levels, the author says.

    Opis:
    Przedmiotem artykułu jest problem ograniczeń rozwoju współczesnej cywilizacji technicznej oraz społeczno-ekonomicznej. Autor polemizuje z tezą o szybkim postępie społeczno ekonomicznym, która ma charakteryzować cywilizację na przełomie XX i XXI wieku. Uważa, że w ostatnich latach nastąpiło wyraźne wyhamowanie procesów rewolucji naukowo -technicznej a sama organizacja życia społeczno gospodarczego jest niedostosowana do wyzwań XXI w; w niektórych przypadkach, zmiany oznaczają regres. W złych rozwiązaniach systemowych upatruje główną przyczynę kryzysów finansowych i gospodarczych lat 2008–2011. Jeśli nie zmieni się system organizacji życia społeczno- ekonomicznego, obecnej cywilizacji grozi niebezpieczeństwo jej upadku, podobnie jak to miało miejsce w przypadku niektórych cywilizacji antycznych. Autor wskazuje również główne niekonsekwencje w rozwiązaniach systemowych organizacji społeczeństw oraz proponuje wybranie pewnych kierunków działań, które – jego zdaniem – mogłyby się przyczynić do usunięcia istniejących patologii.
    The issue of the article is the problem of limitations in the development of modern technical civilization. The author contradicts the thesis about rapid socio-economic progress, which is to characterize civilization at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. Believes that in recent years there has been a marked slowdown in the processes of scientific and technical revolution, and the very organization of socio-economic life is unsuited to the challenges of the 21st century; in some cases, changes mean regression. In poor systemic solutions, he sees the main cause of financial and economic crises in 2008–2011. If the system of organizing the social economic life does not change, the current civilization is in danger of its collapse, as was the case with some ancient civilizations. The author also points out the main inconsistencies in the system solutions of societal organizations and suggests choosing certain directions of action, which – in his opinion – could contribute to the removal of existing pathologies.
