Opis:
The treatment of coagulated greywater from a small household was investigated. The processes of oxidation of organic compounds with hydrogen peroxide combined with ultraviolet radiation (H2O2/m3/UV) was described. Greywater with various initial COD and TOC concentrations was used in the H2O2/m3/UV process. The process parameters were hydrogen peroxide doses 0.5–4.0 kg H2O2/m3, UV (254 nm) light intensity 75.5 W/m2 and irradiation time – 1 h. The oxidation efficiency varied broadly from 15 to 98% and higher COD values corresponded to lower oxidation efficiencies. The average hydrogen peroxide consumption per kg of COD w was = 12.2 g H2O2/m3/g O2 COD, while per TOC it was w′ = 69.0 g H2O2/m3/g C. The experiments enabled one to developed mathematical models for coagulation and oxidation kinetics. The models showed that at the initial COD = 859 g O2/m3, the coagulant dose of 100 g Al3+/m3, the hydrogen peroxide dose of 4 kg H2O2/m3 and the UV irradiation time of 3 h it is possible to decrease the COD by 98.4%.

Opis:
The article presents the question of an average size of the biological family, the household, and an average population of a house in smaller towns of Southern Lesser Poland, and from 1772 the western part of Galicia. The presented problems have been researched on the basis of narrative sources (municipal court’s registers) and quantitative sources (inventories, military conscription lists, parish registers). The author has also used the method of family reconstruction (Wojnicz); and confirmed that the desired model of the family was a simple family, which is visible in young married couples’ aspirations for independence, as well as older parents’ aspirations for providing sufficient income to survive after making over their real property. A biological family was usually composed of 4 people. Not much bigger were the Old Polish burgher households, which were composed of 4.5–5 people on average in Christian families and about four in the Jewish ones. What is more, those households were clearly smaller than the peasant ones, but the houses in smaller towns more frequently than in the country were occupied by more than one household. Servants were common in households and lodgers in houses.

Opis:
In the paper the results of small area estimation using empirical best linear unbiased predictor (EBLUP) for the data coming from Polish Household Budget Survey are presented. The results were obtained using small area models of household expenditures for regions. Estimation of sampling errors was conducted by means of the balanced repeated replication (BRR) technique. The estimation of EBLUPs and their corresponding mean square errors (MSE) was carried out using variance components technique. To calculate MSE of EBLUP the maximum likelihood method (ML) and restricted maximum likelihood method (REML) were used. The computation was made using SAE package designed for R-project.

Opis:
The NWFPs (non-wood forest products) sector is of the crucial importance to the Polish households but its social and economic role is varied and depends on place of residence. For the inhabitants of villages and small towns forests are the place of working and NWFPs sale provides an additional financial resource. City-dwellers do not treat NWFPs as a source of income but rather as an element of recreation and they use these products mainly for their own needs. Some remarks for the developing of this sector in Poland were given in this paper.
