The psychophysical development of humans is genetically determined and influenced by a number of external factors. Nowadays, impacts on the physical development and physical ability of young men are caused by such phenomena as acceleration and civilizational or urban changes. Monitoring of changes in development and the influence of different factors seems to be justified as it is related to the understanding of processes and the introduction of preventive measures in the field of health and physical fitness for future generations. New concepts for testing human physical abilities seem to focus on utilitarian targets related to health needs and daily human activities. The study was performed on a group of 211 boys from an urban area, including 75 at the age of 11, 74 at the age of 12 and 62 at the age of 13. The study examined the strength of abdominal and trunk muscles (sits-up from a lying position), shoulder girdle and lower extremity muscles (overhang on a bar), and explosive strength of upper limbs (forward and backward medicine ball throw). Boys at the age of 11 years achieved the shortest distances, and boys at the age of 13 the longest distances in forward medicine ball throws. The results of the attained distances in backward medicine ball throws were also better in older boys compared to younger ones. The results of the muscle endurance tests were different. In both attempts, boys at the age of 12 attained better results than their younger and older colleagues. The development of strength abilities in boys between the age of 11 and 13 years has stable progress, while the observed differences in muscle endurance in boys at the age of 13 require further monitoring and further examination of their impact in terms of quality and quantity in boys of prepubertal age.

Video Interaction Training (VIT) as a therapeutic method supporting socio-emotional development in children with verbal communication disordersThe article aims to present the possibilities of using VIT in therapy of children with verbal communication disorders and their families. VIT relies on basic communication principles i.e. such elements of a relation which secure the basic satisfactory interaction of a child with his/her immediate surroundings. The method consists in an analysis of video recordings with a focus on successful, positive instances of parent-child interaction. A child with verbal communication disorders often experiences negative emotions resulting from the disorder, which can be noted in disturbances of socio-emotional development. The use of the VIT method in therapeutic work with such children might help to reduce the negative emotion-motivation effects of the disorders and support a correct social development.

This work presents the realisation of such principles of communicative-cognitive approach as the principle of integrated kinds of speech activity, the principle of systematicity, the principle of functionality in correlation with the principle of information transfer, the principle of unity of training, education and development, the principle of the cognitive gap, the principle of authenticity based on the samples of exercises of lexico-grammatical competence and authentic construction projects for future civil engineers. The English language lexico-grammatical competence model demonstrates the structure of its content on the level of knowledge and skills; preparatory, main, and advanced stages of linguistic competence formation in correlation with such levels of understanding of professionally-oriented texts as verbally-visual complex has been presented. The main peculiarities of the model’s content have been highlighted. The system of lexico-grammatical competence formation includes three complexes of exercises: actualisation of lexico-grammatical knowledge on the level of the lexical unit and sentence (reading, speaking); on the formation and improvement of lexico-grammatical skills on the level of the lexical unit, sentence (reading, speaking); the formation and improvement of lexico-grammatical skills on the level of minitexts in speaking and components of the verbal-visual complex (statistical tables, notes) in reading, on the formation and improvement of lexico-grammatical skills on the level of the sketch construction project as verbal-visual complex has been explained and demonstrated. The samples of exercises in lexico-grammatical competence formation within the communicative-cognitive approach have been presented. The explanation of the communicative- cognitive approach’s principles with the help of the system of exercises has been introduced. The pedagogical experiment verifies the effectiveness of lexico-grammatical competence formation in the framework of the communicative-cognitive approach for civil engineering students with the help of one factor disperse analysis. Twelve students from each group (CE21, TPD22, TBC23) have been chosen to compare their results before the experimental test, control test, and after the experimental test within this approach.

Opis:
Since the wide acceptance of the traditional conceptualization of the four skills in EFL methodology – that is listening, reading, speaking and writing – in the 1960s and 1970s, it has become clear that the framework for foreign language skill instruction requires further professional modification. In fact, over the years a range of questions have been put forward in order to explain potential relationships between them and suggest their ordering, coordination, integration or interdependence in working out practical solutions. The undertaken debates have contributed to launching the use of the terms of ‘integrating language skills’ or ‘integrated skills’. The goal of this chapter is to provide an overview of evolving standpoints taken by ELT specialists on the issue of integrating language skills, primarily referred to the four language skills. However, since the audiolingualists’ support given to the traditional model of the four skills, both theoreticians and practitioners have brought about into the forefront a range of new ideas, many of them connected with the growing significance of ICT and online activities implemented in L2/FL teaching and learning. The considerations of language skills integration have proved crucial for materials and course designers as well as practicing teachers responsible for lesson planning and task construction. A recently proposed division of language skills into reception, production, interaction and mediation (Council of Europe, 2001, 2018) has reduced the status of the traditional conceptualization of the four language skills and offered a broader, more comprehensive view of language skills and the links holding between them.

Postulaty kształcenia i rozwijania umiejętności miękkich wśród studentów wydziałów organizacji i zarządzania poparto wybranymi przykładami.
This article is postulative by nature. However, the presented content can be used for comparative analysis. The modern labor market requires from professionals a wide range of skills. There are hard skills and soft skills among them. Hard skills are primarily the skills associated with knowledge of rules and technical. Soft skills are considered universal, first of all, abilities social and communicative. Soft skills are considered universal; these abilities are mainly social and communicative. According to the Berlin Institute for Sociological Research, firm employers are increasingly paying attention to soft skills when recruiting staff. Universities have come to the conclusion that future professionals have to be prepared for the labor market situation and its requirements. Helmut Wagner, Ilka Kajmak, Bettina Bartkowiak believe that the work on key soft skills should begin since student years. The postulate of learning and developing soft skills among students in organizational and management faculties has been supported by selected examples.

Aim. The development of learners' CT is considered to be one of the most important skills in today’s fast pacing world.   It has also been regarded as the mainstay of and an important component of literature teaching. However, this is one of those areas that was overlooked mainly in eastern culture in general and in the EFL classrooms in particular.   Methods. To this end, to foster learners' critical thinking skills, a poetry program was specifically designed to draw learners’ attention towards the significance of CT. Through a case study approach,  a poetry program with a focus on culture-specific information was incorporated into the course. Four female students were engaged in a number of tasks in which they gradually learned to think critically through reflecting on and evaluating the assigned poems. A checklist was generated and used to observe and rate students’ CT before and after the intervention through teacher diaries.   Results and conclusion. Analysis of the case study data indicated that students’ CT had improved and they developed good critical habits as a result of their involvement in the intervention. Thus, it was concluded that poetry could be regarded as a useful and effective source for developing critical thinking skills among students.

Opis:
The authors’ contribution aims at putting into perspective two types of skills representations: the social representations gleaned from a body of French national press material and the representations of guidance professionals. An analysis of this press corpus was carried out using the IRaMuTeQ software (Ratinaud, 2014), which provided a window onto ideology-marked semantic organisations and themes for the two sub-objects “transversal skills” and “transferable skills”. After ascertaining that the notions of “transversal” and “transferable” are actually representational elements of the skill concept for the guidance professionals surveyed, the authors attempted to apprehend their professional representations. Put into perspective, the results show that the social representations disseminated in the media do indeed inform professional representations of the skill object, thereby confirming Feyel’s postulate that “the media reflect society. They mirror its cultural, political, social and economic development” (2007, p. 186). Certain ideologically marked elements, however, appear not to be present in guidance professionals

Opis:
An analysis of contemporary labour market indicates that teamwork skills are among the competences most desired by employers. Therefore, students, future employees, should develop and improve their teamwork skills. The authors argue that team member effectiveness depends, among other things, on the teamwork attitudes. The paper's aim is to identify students' attitude towards teamwork as well as to characterize the needs for the improvement of students' teamwork skills. The results of a survey among 108 students of master degree are presented. The survey inquired several teamwork issues among students in three areas: students' understanding of a teamwork concept, their attitudes towards teamwork and assessment of team member effectiveness with the usage of CATME instrument. The results show that students are not convinced of positive teamwork effects and they rather prefer to work individually. The analysis of their effectiveness as team members indicates that their communication skills, specialized knowledge and competences needed for project tasks are on a quite satisfactory level. However, three other dimensions of effective teamwork behaviour require improvement, i.e. task controlling and keeping team on track, expecting quality of teamwork and contributing to the team's work. Finally, basing on the literature review, the authors propose several hints on how the students' team projects should be pursued by academic teachers.
