Opis:
The present article addresses the issue of crossing time on the fairway, modeling in restricted areas, where vessel traffic flow is disturbed. Data of movement time on the Świnoujście–Szczecin fairway was grouped according to ship type. The probability distributions describing the crossing time of different ship groups were analyzed. Using the Pearson chi-square goodness-of-fit and Cramer–von Mises tests it has been shown that the best distributions describing traffic time of all ship groups are the generalized extreme value distributions.

Opis:
The paper begins by reviewing a two-level hierarchical multicriteria routing model for MPLS networks with two service classes (QoS and BE services) and alternative routing, as well as the foundations of a heuristic resolution approach, previously proposed by the authors. Afterwards a new approach, of meta-heuristic nature, based on the introduction of simulated annealing and tabu search techniques, in the structure of the dedicated heuristic, is described. The application of the developed procedures to a benchmarking case study will show that, in certain initial conditions, this approach provides improvements in the final results especially in more "difficult" situations detected through sensitivity analysis.

Opis:
Experiments were conducted using a soil-mantled flume subjected to simulated rain and downstream baselevel lowering to quantify the evolution of rill networks. Results show that: (1) headcuts formed by baselevel lowering were the primary drivers of rill incision and network development, and the communication of this wave of degradation occurred very quickly through the landscape, (2) rill networks extended upstream by headcut erosion, where channels bifurcated and filled the available space, (3) rill incision, channel development, and peaks in sediment efflux occurred episodically, linked directly to the downstream baselevel adjustments, and (4) sediment discharge and rill drainage density approached asymptotic values with time following baselevel adjustments despite continuous application of rainfall. These findings have important implications for the prediction of soil loss, rill network development, and landscape evolution where headcut erosion can occur.
