The processing influences with burnishing on improvement of quality of surface workpiece not only across significant improvement of roughness profitably, but also by boost near unchanged structure of core of material the superficial hardness. It is the type of superficial plastic processing realized near use cutting off as finishing off processing machine tools, strengthening and formative. Burnishing can replace traditional methods of finishing such as grinding, honing and super finishing and even. The use in building of machines finds the row of elements about folded shape, the variables which are subject on burden. Fatigue strength of such elements can burnishing be enlarged across processing, and their dependent durability has been for many factors. The not only selection of suitable constructional materials, and the influence has on length of cycle of life device the proper conception of realization. The quality of part plays considerable part from what it is executed, applied during their production technology on her influences and the quality of top layer is the most practically important with decisive about usable value of article factors that is his ability to fulfilling exploational requirements. In the construction machinery is used a number of elements of complex shape, which arę exposed to variable loads (crankshafts, drive shafts and camshafts). Fatigue resistance of such elements used in shipbuilding can be improved by burnishing. It was the aim of paper the determination the influence of radius of curve roll burnishing on strain hardening of surface layer of shaft from stainless steel.

Opis:
The article presents the three-state semi-Markov model of the process {W(t): t > 0} of state transitions of a ship power plant machine, with the following interpretation of these states: s1 – state of full serviceability, s2 – state of partial serviceability, and s3 – state of unserviceability. These states are precisely defined for the ship main engine (ME). A hypothesis is proposed which explains the possibility of application of this model to examine models of real state transitions of ship power plant machines. Empirical data concerning ME were used for calculating limiting probabilities for the process {W(t): t > 0}. The applicability of these probabilities in decision making with the assistance of the Bayesian statistical theory is demonstrated. The probabilities were calculated using a procedure included in the computational software MATHEMATICA, taking into consideration the fact that the random variables representing state transition times of the process {W(t): t > 0} have gamma distributions. The usefulness of the Bayesian statistical theory in operational decision-making concerning ship power plants is shown using a decision dendrite which maps ME states and consequences of particular decisions, thus making it possible to choose between the following two decisions: d1 – first perform a relevant preventive service of the engine to restore its state and then perform the commissioned task within the time limit determined by the customer, and d2 – omit the preventive service and start performing the commissioned task.

To inseparable connection of two machine elements is used, among others, press fit connections. The elements of the press fit connection undergo a specific wear during use which may lead to the loss of the wear margin of the connection. Particularly important press fit connections of ship machinery are the connection of the propeller - shaft and connection of the shell - connecting rod big end. The model of the press fit connection and the results of the experiment consisting in the comparison of the calculated and measured torque required to break the connection are presented. It was indicated that fretting corrosion is a characteristic type of wear at the nonstationary load of the press fit connection. The values influencing the course of the fretting corrosion of the press fit connection were listed. The effects of fretting corrosion of the propeller-shaft connection are described. The structure of the connection of the shell-connecting rod big end was characterized and the causes of fretting corrosion were indicated. It was found that acoustic emission may be a symptom of the wear margin of an press fit connection. In the case of a shell - connecting rod big end connection, an additional symptom may be the rotation slip of the shell in big end of connecting rod or the axial displacement of the shell in the big end of connecting rod.

Opis:
Based on data from seven different ship types, this paper provides mathematical relationships that allow us to estimate the main and auxiliary engine power of new ships. With these mathematical relationships we can estimate the power of the engine based on the ship’s length (L), gross tonnage (GT) and age. We developed these approaches using simple linear regression, polynomial regression, K-nearest neighbours (KNN) regression and gradient boosting machine (GBM) regression algorithms. The relationships presented here have a practical application: during the pre-parametric design of new ships, our mathematical relationships can be used to estimate the power of the engines so that more environmentally friendly ships may be built. In addition, with the machine learning methodology, the prediction of the main engine (ME) and auxiliary engine (AE) powers used in the numerical calculation of ship-based emissions provides data for researchers working on emission calculations. We conclude that the GBM regression algorithm provides more accurate solutions to estimate the main and auxiliary engine power of a ship than other algorithms used in the study.

Opis:
The article presents a diagnosis of turbochargers in the supercharging systems of marine engines in terms of maintenance decisions. The efficiency of turbocharger rotating machines was defined. The operating parameters of turbocharging systems used to monitor the correct operation and diagnose turbochargers were identified. A parametric diagnostic test was performed. Relationships between parameters for use in machine learning were selected. Their credibility was confirmed by the results of the parametric test of the turbocharger system and the main engine, verified by the coefficient of determination. A particularly good fit of the describing functions was confirmed. As determinants of the technical condition of a turbocharger, the relationship between the rotational speed of the engine shaft, the turbocharger rotor assembly and the charging air pressure was assumed. In the process of machine learning, relationships were created between the rotational speed of the engine shaft and the boost pressure, and the indicator of the need for maintenance. The accuracy of the maintenance decisions was confirmed by trends in changes in the efficiency of compressors.

Opis:
A grey box framework is applied to model ship maneuvering by using a reference model (RM) and a support vector machine (SVM) (RM-SVM). First, the nonlinear characteristics of the target ship are determined using the RM and the similarity rule. Then, the linear SVM adaptively fits the errors between acceleration variables of RM and target ship. Finally, the accelerations of the target ship are predicted using RM and linear SVM. The parameters of the RM are known and conveniently acquired, thus avoiding the modeling process. The SVM has the advantages of fast training, quick simulation, and no overfitting. Testing and validation are conducted using the ship model test data. The test case reveals the practicability of the RF-SVM based modeling method, while the validation cases confirm the generalization ability of the grey box framework.

The autonomous ship technology has become a “hot” topic in the discussion about more efficient, environmentally friendly and safer sea transportation solutions. The time is becoming mature for the introduction of commercially sensible solutions for unmanned and fully autonomous cargo and passenger ships. Safety will be the most interesting and important aspect in this development. The utilization of the autonomous ship technology will have many effects on the safety, both positive and negative. It has been announced that the goal is to make the safety of an unmanned ship better that the safety of a manned ship. However, it must be understood that the human element will still be present when fully unmanned ships are being used. The shore-based control of a ship contains new safety aspects and an interesting question will be the interaction of manned and unmanned ships in the same traffic area. The autonomous ship technology should therefore be taken into account on the training of seafarers. Also it should not be forgotten that every single control algorithm and rule of the internal decision making logic of the autonomously navigating ship has been designed and coded by a human software engineer. Thus the human element is present also in this point of the lifetime navigation system of the autonomous ship.

Opis:
In recent years, 'weather routing' has been attracting increasing attention as a means of reducing costs and environmental impact. In order to achieve high-quality weather routing, it is important to accurately predict the ship's speed through ground during a voyage from ship control variables and predicted data on weather and sea conditions. Because sea condition forecasts are difficult to produce in-house, external data is often used, but there is a problem that the accuracy of sea condition forecasts is not sufficient and it is impossible to improve the accuracy of the forecasts because the data is external. In this study, we propose a machine learning method for predicting speed through ground by considering the actual values of the previous voyage’s drift speed for ships that regularly operate on the same route, such as ferries. Experimental results showed that this method improves the prediction performance of ship’s speed through ground.

This paper presents the idea of using machine learning techniques to simulate and demonstrate learning behaviour in ship manoeuvring. Simulated model of ship is treated as an agent, which through environmental sensing learns itself to navigate through restricted waters selecting an optimum trajectory. Learning phase of the task is to observe current state and choose one of the available actions. The agent gets positive reward for reaching destination and negative reward for hitting an obstacle. Few reinforcement learning algorithms are considered. Experimental results based on simulation program are presented for different layouts of possible routes within restricted area.
