Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to develop a method for forming the shape of compact ground launching devices (GLDs) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which includes three stages. Firstly, the choice on the basis of the theory of dimension and similarity of the closest analogue of the design object based on world experience gained in this field. Secondly, the creation of a comprehensive model of the working process of GLD and a universal method for its numerical implementation. Thirdly, the solution to the problem of optimizing the dynamic characteristics of GLD. At the described stages of the formation of the shape of an GLD UAV, a statistical analysis of the technical perfection of known analogues of UAV launch systems, methods of the theory of similarity and dimension in mechanics, methods of numerical simulation of the working process, and also methods of conditional parametric optimization are used. The undoubted importance of the problem of the equivalent development of the components of the UAS, consisting of an aircraft and a launch system (catapult). The traditionally non-priority status of GLD in the general cycle of the complex design program is also known. A systematic solution to this problem lies in the mainstream of creating common approaches, one of which is contained in this article. The proposed method of forming the appearance of compact GLDs UAV can be extended to a wide class of starting systems containing a thermal expansion machine and a mechanical component. In the presented form, the method is not applicable to systems of air, aerodrome and manual launch of UAVs. A method has been developed for the formation of the shape of GLD based on the energy relations of the criterion type between useful functions and the corresponding costs, with subsequent verification numerical studies of the launch processes based on specially created technology of a computational experiment, as well as optimization of the dynamic characteristics of GLD. The method of forming the shape of compact GLD is universally applicable to any type of catapults, regardless of the type of transmission and drive, since many particular forms of organization of the working process are generalized using the criteria of energy perfection, a comprehensive physical and mathematical model and normalization of the starting overload.

Opis:
Microhardness tests were carried out on single halite crystals. They were conducted on the (001) surface, with the indenter set in two directions: parallel to the halite face (010); and parallel to the (110) face. The halite crystals represent salt formations of different ages (Devonian, Zechstein, Badenian), depths (from 1835.5 to 195 m) and intensities of tectonic disturbance (horizontally stratified, salt dome, strongly folded). The measurement results revealed specific features of the halite crystals analysed. Firstly, the data obtained show microhardness anisotropy in halite crystals. Moreover, microhardness correlates with the depth of the salt-bearing formations. Halite crystals from deeper levels showed higher microhardness, though there was no correlation between the intensity of tectonic deformation and the average Vickers hardness (HV). The samples analysed show a variability of HV values and and of the shapes of imprints. These indicate zones where halite crystals are deformed at the atomic level and reflects the presence of defects in the crystal lattice. Such deformation is reflected in an irregularity of the strike of cleavage planes. Consequently, the analysis of imprint shapes is a useful method for the examination of ductile minerals and materials.

Opis:
The capybaras (Hydrochoeridae) are outstanding rodents for their large size and euhypsodont and multilaminated cheek teeth. Although today they are represented by a single species, it was generally thought that their past diversity was much higher, especially during the late Miocene–early Pliocene. Such diversity is here analyzed taking into account the ontogenetic variation of the p4–m3 in different populations. Numerous isolated teeth of different size found in the upper levels of the Puerto Madryn Formation (late Miocene, Peninsula Valdés, Argentina) were interpreted as members of an ontogenetic series of a new species here described, Cardiatherium patagonicum. They provided clues to evaluate ontogenetic variation and a new framework to analyze the family diversity. In this context, it is proposed that multiple species described from the Ituzaingó Formation (late Miocene, Entre Ríos, Argentina) based on lower teeth, may actually represent specimens of different stages of the ontogenetic trajectory of a single species. Likewise, we found that several nominal taxa from other localities were based on juvenile specimens. According to these results, the diversity of the Hydrochoeridae during the late Miocene and early Pliocene was drastically reduced. The validity of the subfamily Cardiatheriinae is debated. Finally, it is suggested that the whole family should be revised taking into account the ontogenetic variation.
