Introduction and objectives. Surgical treatment due to brest cancer have an impact on women sexuality. There is a need for research about effective indications for sexology consultation in women after such treatment. The aim of this study is to determine the indications for sexology consultation in women after surgical treatment for breast cancer. Materials and method. We tested 42 women patients diagnosed with breast cancer who had undergone mastectomy 3 months before the study. 3 months after the surgery the women were surveyed using the Polish version of FSFI assessing sexual functioning in women. The result of PL-FSFI were compared with the control group. Results. It was found that the mean score of PL-FSFI in the study group 3 months after the surgery was 13.33 points (score range: 1.2–31.7; median 8.3 points) with a statistically significant difference in terms of areas: desire, arousal, lubrication and orgasm in favour of the control group. The total score of PL-FSFI was significantly lower in women after mastectomy than in women after breast-conserving surgery. It has been shown that sexually active women in whom the surgery concerned the right breast (on the side of the dominant hand) scored lower on the scale “sexual functioning” of QLQ-BR-23 than women with surgery of the left breast, with this difference being statistically significant. There was a statistically significant correlation between the baseline performance status on the Zubrod scale and the scales: desire, lubrication and satisfaction of PL-FSFI. Living in a small town proved to be statistically significant for predicting a lower risk of sexual dysfunction among the surveyed women. Conclusions. The women who underwent surgery due to breast cancer had a higher risk of sexual dysfunction compared to the general population. Higher risk of sexual dysfunction especially concerns women after mastectomy, those who underwent breast surgery on the side of the dominant hand, and those with a worse preoperative overall level of functioning of ≥ 1 point on the Zubrod scale. A lower risk of disorders was observed in women living in smaller towns. The above factors indicate the advisability for sexology consultation in women with breast cancer.

In connection with the theme of the author analyzes the selected folders risk sexual behavior with a focus on people with intellectual disabilities and specific group, which in this respect are Roma with intellectual disabilities. Attention to the particular issue of early sexual life, promiscuity and consequences of unsafe sexual behavior, such as the unplanned / unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. In the end of the article represent a praxeological methodological recommendations in the context of health.

One of the tasks of preventive medicine as part of sexual prophylaxis is to improve sexual culture. Sexual culture is the entirety of sexual life of a society that origins from magic, religion and ideology in its aesthetic, emotional, family and social manifestations. It permeates art, affects the law, creates its own myths, models of love, ars amandi, norms and customs serving as social rituals. The moral transformations taking place in all countries of the Western cultural area are manifested first of all by the loosening of traditional norms regulating sexual intercourse. Increasingly, researchers sensitize adults to the growing popularity of the so-called orgiastic sex, in which the escalation of sexual stimuli (influenced by alcohol and/or drugs) is associated with the lack of ethical standards and principles, which causes the preference of various atypical (eg. group sex) and deviant forms of sexual activity (eg. sadistic sex). The aim of the research presented in this study was to get to know the sexual culture of Polish and Ukrainian students. Research problems have focused on the following questions: What does the sexual culture mean for the respondents? How many times have the respondents betrayed their partner? How often do the respondents talk to their partners about sexual needs?

Introduction and aim. In extraordinary situations, sexual/reproductive health services are very important for the health of the whole society, especially women and children. The aim of this study is to assess the impact of training provided on sexual health/reproductive health during extraordinary situations on the knowledge levels of nurses and midwives. Material and methods. The research was conducted using a single-group pre-test-post-test follow-up test measurement quasi-experimental design. It was completed between November 2021–June 2022 with 140 participants working in a province in Turkey. The data were collected with the “Descriptive Information Form” and the “Sexual Health and Reproductive Health Knowledge Assessment Form for Extraordinary Situations”. Training was given with the Sexual Health/Reproductive Health Training Booklet for Extraordinary Situations. Results. It was found that the participants scored 20.82±4.47 on the Sexual Health and Reproductive Health Knowledge Assessment Form for Extraordinary Situations in the pre-test, 27.63±2.67 in the post-test, and 27.07±3.46 in the follow-up test. As a result of the training, it was determined that the difference between the scores they got from the Sexual Health and Reproductive Health Knowledge Assessment Form for Extraordinary Situations was due to the pre-test (p<0.05). Conclusion. In the study, the participants scored above the average in the pre-test, while they achieved significantly higher scores in the post-test and follow-up test. This shows that the training given to nurses and midwives is effective.

Sexuality of people with disabilities is an extremely important topic both from a psychopedagogical and health or socio-cultural perspective. Lack of public awareness, sex education and existing myths make it difficult to meet the sexual needs of these people. In addition, people with disabilities experience hysiological and anatomical limitations and also have problems finding a partner. Some of them decide to contact sex workers. One of the proposed solutions is to introduce the profession of sexual assistant (the so-called Sexual accompaniment). The purpose of this article is to describe the role of sexual assistants and the scope of their functioning in various countries as well as to indicate the benefits and restrictions associated with the introduction of this profession.

Sex and sexuality are deemed “sensitive” issues in relatively conservative, predominantly Muslim countries. Men’s sex and sexualities research within such cultural contexts confronts certain challenges and raises important methodological issues. This paper reflects on some of the methodological issues and challenges encountered when carrying out a study in Bangladesh. It reports on a male researcher’s qualitative study of men’s sexual health and masculinity in Bangladesh, a predominantly Muslim country where sexuality is largely constituted as a taboo subject. The researcher faced challenges in gaining access and in discussing sex and sexuality issues in interview settings. Moreover, the interview context emerged as a site for expressing, negotiating, challenging men and masculinities. Drawing upon experiences in navigating the “field” in Bangladesh, some of the useful ways of researching “sensitive” issues such as sex, sexuality, and masculinity within these settings are suggested, highlighting what works when researching men’s sexual health and masculinity.

We present in this article our research results, which indicate numerous persisting prepossessions, myths, and stereotypes in sexuality area of coming social workers. We mention on requirement to analyze microdiscourses about sexuality between professionals in coadjutant professions field, whereas their activity can conduce to better, healthy and autonomous attendance of sexuality with clients, or in contrast they can support and secure many prepossessions and stereotypes in this area. In this article we accentuate value and position of sexual education in social worker education. We mention that sexual education at Slovak Universities is insufficient (even in social worker training) and consequently we encourage to enforcing realization of systematic and complex sexual education.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie relacji zachodzących pomiędzy trzema stylami wychowania seksualnego doświadczonego w domu oraz w szkole a tendencją młodych dorosłych do podejmowania ryzykownych zachowań seksualnych. W zakresie domowego wychowania seksualnego uwzględniono: (1) styl oparty na otwartości interakcji, (2) styl oparty na braku otwartości interakcji oraz (3) styl oparty na otwartości interakcji w ramach jednej płci, zaś odnośnie do szkolnego wychowania seksualnego przyjęto podział na często opisywane w literaturze przedmiotu style A, B i C. Wyniki badań wiodą ku refleksji nad czynnikami wpływającymi na kształtowanie się zachowań seksualnych w kontekście rozwoju jednostki i szeroko pojętego zdrowia seksualnego.
The aim of the paper is to present the relationships between three styles of sex education experienced at home and at school, and the tendency of young adults to undertake risk sexual behaviours. In terms of sex education at home the following styles were included: (1) a style based on the openness of interaction, (2) a style based on the lack of openness of interaction and (3) a style based on the openness of interaction within a single sex. And with respect to sex education at school the author adopted the division into frequently described in the literature styles A, B and C. The results of the research lead to a reflection over the factors which influence the formation of sexual behaviour in the context of the development of an individual and widely understood sexual health.

Health education is related to the health promotion. This is a process aimed to shaping people’s habits of taking care of their and other people’s health. The article is aimed at the analysis of literature, international documents, legal regulations and research reports on the implementation of formal sexuality education in selected countries. There are many contradictions among researchers about the definition of sexuality education, its scope, the age from which it should be taught and learnt, people who should be its providers, its content and forms. These discrepancies are also present in the public sphere, where two strongly polarized discourses (the conservative and liberal) exist. National policies regarding sexuality education vary in the European Union. In some countries sexuality education has the status of a compulsory subject, is regulated by relevant acts, similarly to teachers training for this subject. In others, sexuality education curricula lack solid legal and theoretical basis. The analysis of selected documents and acts shows that the most effective type is the holistic sexuality education, which being part of the cultural sensitivity approach, addresses the development of knowledge and skills of education recipients, as well as the elaboration of appropriate attitudes towards positive sexuality and sexual and reproductive health. The existing research indicates also that the availability of data on sexuality education should be improved and further analysis is needed to enable better assessment of the situation, to ensure the evidence-based policy creation and strengthen the best identification practices.
Celem artykułu jest analiza literatury, międzynarodowych dokumentów, przepisów prawnych i raportów z badań dotyczących realizacji formalnej edukacji seksualnej w wybranych krajach. Wśród badaczy edukacji seksualnej istnieją rozbieżności co do samej jej definicji, zakresu, wieku, od którego powinna być prowadzona, środowisk, w jakich ma przebiegać, osób, które mają się nią zajmować, oraz jej form i doboru treści. Te rozbieżności są obecne także w sferze publicznej, gdzie istnieją dwa silnie spolaryzowane i wzajemnie się wykluczające dyskursy (konserwatywny i liberalny). Polityki krajowe w Unii Europejskiej w odniesieniu do edukacji seksualnej są także zróżnicowane. W niektórych krajach edukacja seksualna ma status przedmiotu obowiązkowego, jest regulowana odpowiednimi przepisami, podobnie jest w przypadku kształcenia nauczycieli tego przedmiotu. W innych krajach programy edukacji seksualnej nie mają solidnych podstaw prawnych i teoretycznych. Analiza wybranych dokumentów pozwala stwierdzić, że najbardziej efektywny jest typ edukacji holistycznej, który wpisując się w podejście dotyczące wrażliwości kulturowej, odnosi się do rozwoju wiedzy i umiejętności odbiorców edukacji oraz wypracowania odpowiedniej postawy na rzecz pozytywnej seksualności, zdrowia seksualnego i reprodukcyjnego. Istniejące badania wskazują ponadto, że należy poprawić dostępność danych nt. edukacji seksualnej oraz prowadzić dalsze analizy, aby umożliwić lepszą ocenę sytuacji, zapewnić tworzenie polityki opartej na dowodach i wzmocnić identyfikację najlepszych praktyk.

A phenomenon, which threatens employees feeling of security, as well as their health, is sexual harassment. The authoress discusses the phenomenon from the perspective of social pedagogy, to be precise - gender sensitive social pedagogy (inspired by feminism); that's why her interest in sexual harassment of women. In the first part of the text the authoress outlines the perspective of analysis accepted by her. Then she characterises the phenomenon of sexual harassment: its types (Quid pro quo form and Hostile environmental type), range and factors of risk. Talking about consequences of harassment she indicates threaten of physical, psychical and also sexual health of a woman, and violation of her sexual rights. W niniejszym artykule zaprezentowano zintegrowany model profilaktyki wykorzystywania seksualnego dzieci opracowany przez Smallbone’a, Marshalla i Wortleya wraz z przykładami praktycznych zastosowań proponowanych strategii. Przedstawiony model integruje koncepcje kliniczne i kryminologiczne, aby służyć jako narzędzie poszukiwania optymalnych odpowiedzi na wyzwania związane z profilaktyką wykorzystywania seksualnego dzieci. Jego celem jest stworzenie kompleksowej polityki prewencyjnej, która ma jasno określone zadania i opiera się na najlepszych dostępnych dowodach empirycznych i podstawach teoretycznych.
The paper presents the integrated model of child sexual abuse prevention elaborated by Smallbone, Marshall and Wortley with some practical examples of applications. The described model integrates clinical and criminological concepts to look for the optimal solutions for challenges related to the child sexual abuse prevention. It aims at forming a more comprehensive prevention policy, with clearly appointed tasks and being based on the best available empirical and theoretical knowledge.
