Intersex newborns cannot be qualified as male or female at the level of their biological traits. People with nonbinary gender identity are those who do not identify as a man or a woman (at the level of gender identity). In most countries both groups, intersex people and nonbinary people, are in legal limbo. The existence of congenital eunuchs/ hermaphrodites is confirmed in the Bible. Recently, a process has begun to introduce third sex/gender options in documents. I discuss the legal recognition in Germany, where since 2019 there have been used three sex/gender categories: male, female, and diverse (divers). Finally, I present a nonbinary and multilayered conceptualization of sex/gender that goes beyond the system of male/female categorization. It includes a third category in addition to male/female and allows us to describe the clash of layers.

Opis:
The article ‘Stefania bows to children, on development of the municipal identity in young citizens of Gorzów Wielkopolski’ discuss the effect that a paleontological discovery exerted upon promotional activities of Gorzów Wielkopolski’s local government and municipal cultural institutions. The Article contains the analysis of all the promotional undertakings directed to children and teenagers whose main protagonist was Stefania (a she-rhino) and which take place between the years 2017 and 2022. It is claimed that the steps undertaken by Gorzów Wielkopolski’s artists to publicize information regarding the discovery have had an undeniable effect on creating a stronger affiliation between young citizens and theirs city.
Artykuł Stefania dzieciom się kłania, czyli o budowaniu tożsamości miejskiej wśród małych mieszkańców Gorzowa Wielkopolskiego podejmuje temat wpływu – ważnego dla świata nauki – odkrycia z zakresu paleontologii na działania samorządu miasta i instytucji kultury w Gorzowie Wielkopolskim. Analizie poddaje się wszystkie projekty skierowane bezpośrednio do dzieci i młodzieży z lat 2017-2022, których głównym bohaterem była postać Nosorożycy Stefanii. Uważa się, że kroki podjęte przez gorzowskich twórców w celu rozpropagowania informacji o znalezisku miały niewątpliwy wpływ na poczucie zjednoczenia się z miastem.

The paper presents the concept of masculinity within the non-binary and multilayered model of gender/sex traits. Within that model, masculinity is not a simple idea, but rather is fragmented into many traits in diverse clusters. The experience of transgender men and men with intersex traits suggests that self-determined male gender identity is a mega trait that is sufficient for being a man. However, masculinity is not only psychological, as the content of the psychological feeling of being a man refers to social norms about how men should be and behave. And male coded traits are described as traits that frequently occur within the group of people identifying as men. Therefore, I claim that there are two interdependent ideas in the concept of masculinity: the self-determined male gender identity (first-person perspective) and a cluster of traits coded as male (third-person perspective). Within non-binary model the interplay between the two interdependent ideas allows to include borderline masculinities.

Ze względu na nietolerancję społeczną zachowań związanych z tożsamością płciową, większość osób transpłciowych doświadcza poważnego stresu na różnych etapach swojego życia. Aspekty relacji społecznych są istotne dla godnego i przyjaznego funkcjonowania dziecka transpłciowego w szkole i jego osiągnięć szkolnych, a następnie – już jako osoby dorosłej – ścieżek rozwoju zawodowego i podejmowania relacji społecznych. Podczas gdy niektóre szkoły i miejsca pracy oferują bezpieczne przestrzenie, wiele osób transpłciowych wciąż doświadcza negatywnych, wrogich i niebezpiecznych środowisk. Bez określonych działań mających na celu ochronę osób transpłciowych i szerzenie wiedzy na temat transpłciowości w społeczeństwie, większość osób o nienormatywnej tożsamości płciowej pozostaje podatna na dyskryminację, nękanie i zastraszanie. Dlatego tak ważne jest diagnozowanie trudności w funkcjonowaniu społecznym osób transpłciowych i wskazanie propozycji rozwiązań zmierzających do poprawy ich sytuacji w warunkach wykluczenia.
Due to the social intolerance of gender identity behaviors, most of the transgender people experience a serious stress at various stages of their lives. Aspects of the social relations are important for the dignified and friendly functioning of a transgender child at school and their school achievements and then – as an adult – their professional development and social relations. While some schools and work places offer safe spaces, many people are still experiencing negative, hostile and dangerous environments. Without specific measures to protect transgender people and disseminate the knowledge about transgender in society, most people with non-normative gender identity remain vulnerable to discrimination, harassment and intimidation. That is why it is so important to diagnose difficulties in the social functioning of transgender people and to suggest solutions to improve their situation in the conditions of exclusion.

Temat ludzkiej płciowości prawdopodobnie nie był w historii tak szeroko omawiany, jak to ma miejsce we współczesnej debacie. Fakt bycia mężczyzną czy kobietą raczej nie był też kontesto¬wany na taką skalę. Kwestia tożsamości człowieka pojawia się zatem jako szczególnie aktualny problem antropologiczny. Tożsamość płciowa jest drugą tożsamością odkrywaną w życiu ludz¬kim, której identyfikacja następuje już po odkryciu tożsamości siebie jako człowieka. Współcze¬sny człowiek otrzymuje obecnie wiele informacji na temat płciowości. Informacje te są jednak tylko pewnymi hipotezami, które on uważa często za bezsporne. Niniejszy artykuł wpisuje się w tę współczesną refleksję nad problemem tożsamości płciowej istoty ludzkiej. Przedstawia on z jednej strony poglądy Judith Butler, jednej z najważniejszych postaci we współczesnej dyskusji dotyczącej płci. Z drugiej strony prezentuje tomistyczną myśl na ten temat. Może się wydawać, że tomizm nie ma wiele wspólnego ze współczesnymi teoriami na temat płciowości. Zważywszy jednak, że myśl filozoficzna, oparta na dorobku św. Tomasza z Akwinu, dąży do wyjaśnienia całej rzeczywistości, może stanowić ona podstawę dla adekwatnej koncepcji tożsamości płciowej. Wydaje się to o tyle zasadne, że upowszechniana dziś tzw. teoria gender powinna być skonfrontowana z alternatywnym rozwiązaniem, nawiązującym do realistycznej perspektywy, charakterystycznej dla klasycznej filozofii człowieka.
The theme of gender identity is one of the most current topics in anthropology. Nowadays there are two terms concerning this human reality: sex (biological phenomenon) and gender (social construct). Judith Butler in her theory identifed sex and gender. She showed that human body is a subject of cultural and political interpretation. Tus there isn’t something like fact of body. Because of hetero normative paradigm the society believes that there are only two genders: male and female. Two philosophical assumptions cause this impoverishment: substantialism and performativity of language. Butler’s theory seems to be sex antirealism. Tomistic metaphysics is the opposite view to such kind of idea. According to Tomism human is substation which manifests itself in variable features. Human gender belongs to its being properties. Tese properties are invariable features of substance. Tomism claims that gender is one of such invariable modifcators. Tus each human being in accordance with its nature is consistently human-man or human-woman. Tere is no change of gender regardless of outside signs of sex changing. Te gender depends on metaphysical dimension of human. Butler’s theory is a consequence of rejecting the argument about substantial character of human existence and its unity and identity.

The aim of the article in the theoretical layer based on the analysis of the literature on the subject is a description of the concept of diversity and identification of the main indicators of behavioral differentiation in selected aspects of primary identity (gender and age). On the other hand, the empirical goal, the explanation of the gender and age, differentiates the character of the employee‑organization relationship (in four distinct components: location of responsibility for tasks, location of sources of knowledge, location of development responsibility and localization of identification). The article presents the results of empirical research in 2015, on a sample, randomly selected population of 2,274 employees from 40 Polish companies.

The author of this publication has considered the question of presence so called gender in the law of European Union and its chances and risks which could be the consequences of gender’s ideology. Firstly, author has made the analysis of equivocal notion of gender and has indicated the difference between gender studies, which is the academic discipline, which the subject are the means of demonstration of genders in different cultures and societies and gender mainstreaming which is the political strategy extracting the part of achievements above discipline. Subsequently there have been mentioned numerous regulations and documents of EU law, which regulate the gender equality. Finally, the author has evaluated, if gender pose a threat or a chance for society. Consequently this elaboration is the voice getting into a discussion to the point of gender and its potential consequences.

The purpose of the article is to present the barriers to leaving sex work which are related to the influence of significant others on decisions made by sex workers. The analysis was applied in the case of two categories of significant others (organizational and intimate), which through interactions in escort agencies and on family grounds, respectively, may exert a destructive influence on sex workers' intentions, referring to their life and the act of leaving sex work. Therefore, the relationships with significant others described in the article interfere in the process of these women's identity transformation, hindering the development of a self-concept outside prostitution. The article is based on qualitative research carried out in escort agencies in one of the biggest Polish cities.
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zaprezentowanie barier wychodzenia z prostytucji, które wiążą się z wpływem znaczących innych na decyzje podejmowane przez osoby świadczące usługi seksualne. Analizie poddano dwie kategorie znaczących innych (organizacyjnych i intymnych), które poprzez interakcje odpowiednio w agencjach towarzyskich oraz na gruncie rodzinnym mogą wywierać destrukcyjny wpływ na zamierzenia związane ze zmianą swojego życia i odejściem z pracy seksualnej. Tym samym, opisane w artykule relacje ze znaczącymi innymi interweniują w proces transformacji tożsamości kobiet, utrudniając zbudowanie koncepcji siebie poza prostytucją. Artykuł opiera się na badaniach jakościowych zrealizowanych w agencjach towarzyskich jednego z dużych polskich miast.

Podstawowym zadaniem zawartych w tekście rozważań jest prezentacja stanu badań z zakresu biologicznych uwarunkowań tożsamości płciowej w odniesieniu do zróżnicowanej problematyki psychologii płci rozumianej jako dyscyplina antropologiczna. W obliczu teoretycznego i metateoretycznego zróżnicowania tej ostatniej oraz niejednoznaczności zgromadzonego na tym obszarze materiału empirycznego podejścia biologiczne mogą posłużyć za swego rodzaju weryfikację ujęć psychologicznych sensu stricto. W ten sposób mogą rzucić pewne dodatkowe światło na sprawę płciowości człowieka. Z drugiej strony jednak mogą przy tym same stać się przedmiotem analizy oraz oceny ich waloru poznawczego. W tym celu artykuł prezentuje najpierw zarys psychologicznej problematyki płci z jej zagadnieniami wiodącymi. W drugiej części natomiast przywołane zostają podejścia biologiczne oraz wnioski, które płyną z ich zastosowania. 
The study considers the results of biologists’ efforts in their search for neuro-hormonal factors of gender identity with reference to the complexity of the issue of sex and gender in psychology as an anthropological science. Considering the theoretical and meta-theoretical multiplicity of the latter, as well as its vain empirical results the biological perspective may serve to verify the approaches used in the area of psychology sensu stricto. They may then shed some additional light on the question of gender identity. On the other hand though, they may themselves become an object to be analysed and assessed with regard to their cognitive value. In order to achieve this goal, the first part of the text presents an outline of the psychology of sex and gender underlying the main questions that lead the psychologists’ efforts in this research area. The second part presents the reconstructed issues in the perspective of biology as well as the discussion on the cognitive value of the perspective in question.

Idea prezentowanego badania zasadza się na analizie i interpretacji opisów dorosłej kobiety i dorosłego mężczyzny, dokonanych przez studentów i studentki. Wychodzimy z założenia, że zadanie polegające na opisywaniu kobiety i mężczyzny aktywizuje kryteria, jakimi posługują się ludzie w konstruowaniu zarówno własnej tożsamości, jak i tożsamości innych. A ponieważ kryteria te nie mają charakteru esencjalnego, lecz są konstruowane społecznie, otrzymane dane mogą być wskaźnikiem aktualnie działających w środowisku studentów presji kulturowych na określone wzorce kobiecości i męskości. Ich poznanie było celem naszych badań.
The idea of this study is based on the analysis and interpretation of the descriptions of adult men and women, submitted by students. We work on the assumption that the task of describing man and woman activates criteria used by people in the construction of both their identity and identity of others; as these criteria are not essential, but socially constructed, the acquired data may be an indicator of cultural pressures promoting specific patterns of femininity and masculinity among the students. Understanding just such patterns was our goal.

Intencją artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na problematykę związaną z próbą osiągnięcia „idealnego” (umięśnionego, pozbawionego tkanki tłuszczowej) męskiego ciała, przy użyciu środków steroidowych. W artykule przedstawione zostały zachowania ryzykowne podejmowane przez mężczyzn starających się wpisać w powyższy wzór, ćwiczących w siłowniach, zagrożonych wystąpieniem zaburzenia jakim jest bigoreksja - zaburzenie postrzegania własnej cielesności (BDD). Zaburzenie to definiowane jest jako skupienie uwagi na swoim wyglądzie, wyszukiwanie w nim defektów przeszkadzających jednostce w funkcjonowaniu w życiu społecznym. Dotyka ono zarówno kobiet jak i mężczyzn, zaczynając się przeważnie w okresie adolescencji i przechodzą z czasem w stan chroniczny. Johnston i Joni (1994, s.33) podkreślają, że może zacząć się w wieku dorosłym. Wynikiem zaburzenia jest podejmowanie zachowań ryzykownych, a mianowicie przyjmowanie środków anabolicznych (popularnie zwanych sterydami). W artykule zawarte zostały informacje na temat przyczyn i skutków stosowania sterydów.
The aim of the paper is to draw attention to the problems associated with an attempt to achieve an ’ideal’ (muscular, devoid of adipose tissue) male body by means of steroids. It presents risk behaviours undertaken by men who suit the above pattern - exercising in gyms and at risk of body dysmorphia - a body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). This disorder is defined as focusing the attention on one’s own body and searching imaginative defects which disturb functioning in social life. It affects both women and men and usually begins in an adolescence period; sometimes it turns into a chronic state. Johnston and Joni (1994, p.33) emphasize that BDD may also begin in adulthood. As a result of the disorder a sufferer undertakes risk behaviours, namely they take anabolic agents (generally called steroids). The article includes the information on the causes and effects of using steroids.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to present an overview of research on gender identity development of children raised either in same-sex families or by a non-heterosexual parent. Not only is it significant to explore whether the families under consideration socialise their children in any different way than heterosexual parents do. It is also worth investigating whether or not children from non-heteronormative families exhibit any traits stereotypically ascribed to their sex/gender to a greater extent than their peers from heterosexual families. As it turns out, stronger gender nonconformity of children from non-heterosexual families may be one of very few differences between children from these two family models.
Celem niniejszej pracy jest przegląd badań na temat kształtowania się płci kulturowej dzieci wychowywanych w rodzinach jednopłciowych lub przez nieheteroseksualnego rodzica. Istotne jest nie tylko to, czy badane rodziny socjalizują swoje dzieci w odmienny sposób, ale również to, czy dzieci te wykazują cechy typowe bądź nietypowe dla swojej płci w stopniu większym niż ich rówieśnicy wychowujący się w rodzinach heteroseksualnych. Jak się okazuje, większy nonkonformizm względem tradycyjnych ról płciowych dzieci z rodzin nieheteroseksualnych jest jedną z bardzo nielicznych różnic, jakie zaobserwowano między dziećmi z obu typów rodzin.

Sexual identity is one of the dimensions of a man's identity. In literature we find numerous descriptions and definitions of it. Sexual identity is understood as a psychological phenomenon that is based on the relatively stable biological gender. Generally, sexual identity may be defined as an individual's knowledge about his/her belonging to a defined sexual group. Sexual identity can be characterized by means of models. A one-factor and a multi-factor model may be distinguished. For the present article Sandra Bem's two-factor model of sexual identity is significant. The model assumes that there are patterns of sex and that sexes differ in biological, psychological and social-cultural dimensions. Because of the number of masculine and feminine traits the model singles out the following persons: sexually defined, androgynous, sexually undifferentiated, and cross-defined ones. The model was used in empirical studies. On the basis of the obtained data the following conclusions were formulated: 1. Feminine women are the greatest group; 2. The second most numerous group is the group of androgynous women; 3. The least group is constituted by women with an undefined sense of sexual identity; 4. Women that are characterized by a greater percentage of masculine traits more often tend to be active in fields socially considered as typical of men.
Tożsamość płciowa jest jednym z wymiarów tożsamości człowieka. W literaturze znajdujemy liczne jej ujęcia oraz definicje. Tożsamość płciową rozumie się jako fenomen psychologiczny, którego podstawą jest stosunkowo stabilna płeć biologiczna. Najogólniej tożsamość płciową można określić jako wiedzę jednostki o przynależności do określonej grupy płciowej. Tożsamość płciową można charakteryzować za pomocą modeli. Wyróżniamy model jedno-, dwu- i wieloczynnikowy. Dla niniejszego artykułu istotny jest dwuczynnikowy model tożsamości płciowej Sandry Bem. Zakłada on istnienie schematów płci oraz różnicowanie się płci w wymiarze biologicznym, psychologicznym i społeczno-kulturowym. Ze względu na ilość cech męskich i żeńskich model wyróżnia osoby: określone płciowo, androgyniczne, nieokreślone płciowo oraz krzyżowo określone. Model został wykorzystany w badaniach empirycznych. Na podstawie uzyskanych danych sformułowano następujące wnioski: 1. Najliczniejszą grupę stanowią kobiety kobiece, 2. Drugą pod względem liczebności jest grupa kobiet androgynicznych, 3.Najmniej liczną grupę stanowią kobiety o nieokreślonym poczuciu tożsamości płciowej, 4. Kobiety, które cechuje większy odsetek cech męskich, częściej kierują się ku aktywnościom społecznie uznawanym za męskie.

Opis:
A major objective of this article is to analyze how escort agencies’ female workers experience their body within the professional context. It represents the analytical attempt to reconstruct their way of perceiving and understanding the body that at the time of professional interaction in progress is considered a theatrical costume, which facilitates performing the prostitute’s role. The body that is experienced as an object, which requires constant reshaping, adjusting to working conditions, might get damaged, and worn out. The body that in the aftermath of internalizing new techniques of impression management starts being perceived as a working tool and enables, thus, the construction of new interpretative frames for the understanding of typical professional interactions and one’s professional role. Finally, the body that is abstracted away from one’s intimacy, experienced as an interactional partner mediating escort’s professional interactions with her clients.
