Opis:
The model was governed by a system of ordinary differential equations; the population into susceptible individuals (S), Exposed individuals (E), infected individuals (I) and Recovered individuals (Q). Theory of positivity and boundedness was used to investigate the well-posedness of the model. Equilibrium solutions were investigated analytically. The basic reproduction number (R0) were calculated using the next generation operator method. Bifurcation analysis and global stability of the model were carried out using centre manifold theory and Lyapunov functions respectively. The effects of parameters such as efficacy of Condom (κ), Effective Contact Rate (β), Compliance of Condom (θ), Progression Rate (ρ) and Treatment Rate (α) on R0 were explored through sensitivity analysis. The possibility of mitigating the spread of gonorrhea in the population has been studied. It can be concluded that parameters representing efficacy of Condom, Effective Contact Rate, Compliance of Condom, Progression Rate and Treatment Rate are significant in reducing the burden of gonorrhea disease in the population.

The conventional process for biodiesel production by transesterification is still expensive due to a need of high excess of alcohol required and its recovery by distillation. The use of a reactive distillation process can reduce the amount of alcohol in the feed stream as it works on a simultaneous reaction and separation. In the present study, a mathematical model has been developed for biodiesel production from triglycerides in a reactive distillation column, which has been validated with the reported data and CHEMCAD results. The effects of process parameters such as methanol to oil feed ratio, feed temperature, and reaction time have been investigated. The sensitivity analysis shows that yield of ester increases with methanol to oil ratio and number of stages, however, it decreases with fl ow rate. The MATLAB simulated results show that methanol to oil molar ratio of 5:1 produces 90% (by wt.) of methyl ester in a residence time of 4.7 minutes.

Opis:
Based on Kalman filtering, multi-sensor navigation systems, such as the integrated GPS/INS system, are widely accepted to enhance the navigation solution for various applications. However, such integrated systems do not always provide robust and stable navigation solutions due to unmodelled measurements and system dynamic errors, such as faults that degrade the performance of Kalman filtering for such integration. Single fault detection methods based on least squares (snapshot) method were investigated extensively in the literature and found effective to detect the fault at either sensor level or integration level. However, the system might be contaminated by multiple faults simultaneously. Thus, there is an increased likelyhood that some of the faults may not be detected and identified correctly. This will degrade the accuracy of positioning. In this paper multiple fault test and reliability measures based on a snapshot method were implemented in both the measurement model and the predicted states model for use in a GPS/INS integration system. The influences of the correlation coefficients between fault test statistics on the performances of the faults test and reliability measures were also investigated. The results indicate that the multiple fault test and reliability measures can perform more effectively in the measurement model than the predicted states model due to weak geometric strength within the predicted states model.

A new method of first-, second-order and multiparameter symbolic sensitivity determination based on the nullor model of active devices and modified Coates flow graph is presented. Rules for a symbolic reduction of nullor circuit complexity are described. An algorithm performs symbolic sensitivity analysis with respect to various circuit parameters appeared not only at one location in the modified Coates flow graph. Advantages of the method suggested are that, the matrix inversion is not required and the main drawback of some methods based on the adjoint graph, i.e. the necessity to analyze the corresponding graph twice, is avoided. Illustrative examples on symbolic sensitivity analysis are given.

Second order sufficient optimality conditions (SSC) are derived for optimal multiprocess control problems. For that purpose the multiprocess control problem is transformed into a single stage control problem with augmented state variables which comprise the state variables of all individual stages as well as the switching times as choice variables. This toansformation allows to apply the known SSC for single stage control problems. A numerical test of SSC involves the solution of an associated Riccati equation together with boundary conditions adapted to the multiprocess. Sensitivity analysis of parametric multiprocess problems can be based on SSC. A numerical example of the optimal two-stage control of a robot illustrates both SSC and sensitivity analysis.

Food loss is one of the challenges in the cold chain (CC), which can lead to serious problems with human safety, environment, and economies around the world. Recently, reducing food loss has drawn public attention; previous studies mostly gave attention to food loss drivers in the retailer-consumer stages of the supply chain. In this study, we focused on identifying food-loss-factors (FLF) all over the CC, and developed an approach based on multi decision-making methods and fuzzy sets to rank FLFs by those who have more influence on food loss in the poultry sector. The first phase concerns the identification of FLFs based on the literature as well as experts opinions in the poultry field. Then fuzzy Delphi method was implemented to reach the consistency level of >75% among all the group members. In the second phase, fuzzy AHP method was employed for the weighting of FLFs, in order to rank them. For the validation of our contribution, a sensitivity analysis was performed. This research presents a guide for decision makers in the CC to help them make an efficient strategy plan to reduce food loss during logistic activities.

Guanylurea dinitramide (GUDN or FOX-12) is a stable salt of dinitramidic acid with good thermal stability, and is a good candidate for insensitive formulations. Thermal analysis reveals the compatibility of GUDN with benchmark explosives such as RDX and TNT in melt cast explosive formulations. The paper describes a thermal and sensitivity study of GUDN with RDX and TNT. In the present study GUDN was evaluated as a possible replacement for RDX/TNT based aluminized and non aluminized melt cast explosive formulations. The thermal properties of the composition were investigated as well as its sensitivity to impact and friction. Its thermal decomposition behavior was compared to a control composition based on RDX and TNT. The thermal and sensitivity results proved the worth of these compositions for melt cast explosive applications.

Opis:
Boron and potassium nitrate are the key components for the ignition system of the igniter composition for rocket propellants. Boron-potassium nitrate-ethyl cellulose (B:KNO3:PEC) in proportions of 30:70:10 is a well established igniter composition. The composition delivers a maximum pressure in the range 4.0-4.6 MPa in closed vessel firing at a loading density of 0.01 g/cm3. For the effective ignition of a large booster stage propellant (length more than 4 m), an enhancement in the maximum pressure, without affecting safety, is a prime requirement. The use of guanylurea dinitramide (GUDN) in an igniter composition has not been reported in the literature. Hence, the present study on the effect of GUDN on the combustion behaviour and sensitivity of the B/KNO3 composition (30/70) has been carried out. Several compositions containing different weight percents of GUDN were prepared. Their thermal behaviour was determined by thermal analysis DSC-TGA. Their sensitivities to external stimuli such as impact, friction and spark were evaluated. The results of closed vessel firings indicated that GUDN-based igniter compositions produced higher peak pressures (up to 4.5 MPa to 5.8 MPa), with invariably lower burning times, compared to the control composition. The REAL computer programme indicated an increase in the flame temperature of the composition from 2238 K to 2425 K on addition of GUDN. All of the compositions were insensitive towards friction up to 36 kg, and towards spark up to 5 J energy.

Opis:
This study aims to analyse the sensitivity in decision-making which results in the selection of the appropriate underground metal mining method using the fuzzy-analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) model. The proposed model considers sixteen criteria for the selection of the most appropriate mining method out of the seven. The model consists of three-layer viz. the first layer represents the criteria (factors which influence the mining method), the second layer represents the sub-criteria (categorisation of the factors) and the third layer represents the alternatives (mining methods). The priority of the different mining methods was determined based on global weights. The global weights of seven mining method were determined using a different fuzzification factor under different decision-making attitudes (optimistic, pessimistic and unbiased). The sensitivity of the decision-making results was analysed in order to understand the robustness of the model.

Evolutionary solid bodies undergoing changes of mass, of properties, and of shapes are considered in models of growth and adaptation and similarily in structural optimisation. A fundamental separation of different growth phenomena and a subsequent parametrisation using independent design variables for the amount of substance as well as for molar mass and molar volume facilitates an efficient formulation of the design space. Thus, the effects of design variations, i.e. change of amount of substance, on the variations of the structural response, i.e. the deformation in physical space, can be clearly described. Overall, a novel treatment of growth processes based on an evolution of the amount of substance is outlined. The parallelism of variations in physical and design space are highlighted and compared with the multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient into a growth and an elastic part incorporating an incompatible intermediate configuration. This drawback is overcome by a compatible manifold based on material points modelling the amount of substance outside of any geometrical space.

Acoustic barriers are assigned to the respective categories of sound absorbing properties on the basis of a single-number sound absorption evaluation index. Categories of absorbing properties play a significant role in selecting the barrier type for the given localisation. The estimation of the single-number sound absorption evaluation index is performed, among others, by means of measuring the sound absorption coefficient of the analysed acoustic barrier sample in the reverberation chamber. The sensitivity analysis of the determination of the single-number sound absorption evaluation index was performed in this work. The estimation of the input parameters uncertainty contribution to the expanded uncertainty of the sound absorption evaluation index, was done first. The Monte Carlo method and the reduction interval arithmetic were used for this aim. The relative sensitivity coefficients were determined by means of the author’s method based on the interval arithmetic. These coefficients contain information concerning the quantitative influence of the given input value on the final result.

Opis:
Volatility of the economic environment makes it necessary, while taking a decision on constructing an offshore wind farm, erected and operated in the relatively distant future, to identify the factors that could significantly affect the profitability of such an investment. The objective of this paper is to discuss the selected variables affecting the rate of return for the investor (IRR) interested in investment in offshore wind power plant/farm (OWF) in the Polish economic zone in the southern Baltic Sea area (the Project). The study analysed different variables of the environment of an enterprise that would carry out the Project and their potential impact on the profitability of the investment. Considerations were preceded by a discussion of theoretical aspects of the structure and nature of impact of individual environmental factors, presented both in macro and micro perspective. As in Poland, no OWF has been errected yet; in this analysis, benchmarking data were employed characterising the conditions for the construction and operation of OWFs in other European countries and the world. The study also employed informations gathered in the project AQUILO (PBS1/A6/8/2012), supported by financial means from the National Research and Development Centre.
Rozważania poprzedzono omówieniem teoretycznych aspektów dotyczących struktury i sposobu oddziaływania poszczególnych czynników otoczenia, prezentowanego zarówno w ujęciu makro jak i mikro. Ponieważ w Polsce nie oddano jeszcze do eksploatacji żadnej MEW, w toku analizy wykorzystano benchmarkowo dane charakteryzujące warunki budowy i eksploatacji MEW w innych krajach Europy i świata. W opracowaniu wykorzystano także informacje gromadzone w ramach projektu AQUILO (PBS1/A6/8/2012) realizowanego dzięki środkom finansowym z Narodowego Centrum Badań i Rozwoju.
