The author describes a mode of sensibility called ‘Camp’. She concentrates on the most characteristic features of it, especially on the ambivalence of any assessments, specific playful type of seriousness, theatricalization, artificiality, superior role of inverted commas and emphasis. While analyzing connections between Camp and homosexual subculture, the author stresses the role of the artists’ deepened self-consciousness and their deceitful distance towards their own works of art. Those features are especially noticeable in their playing with the conventions and with the principles of good taste. While describing the presence of Camp in the Polish literature, the author emphasises the roles of relativity, both aesthetical and moral. The elements of Camp are distinguished in the ‘banalistic’ literature and in the prose of Grzegorz Musiał, but the main part of the text is devoted to the prose of Michał Witkowski, in which we can find an intriguing combination of the sublimity and mockery, gloss and trumpery, spirituality and hedonism. Those features, inseparably connected with the stylistic of Camp, are constantly present in the prose of Witkowski. It makes him the most important representative of the discussed mode of sensibility in Poland.

The essay critically approaches the current state and directions of changes in the university education. We see the critical point in the unconditioned endorsement by the university of the market values of intense competitiveness of global economy and the cult of the pro-market education which is its inevitable result. We would like to argue that although the university must respect economic conditions and limitations, nevertheless we fear that the ongoing process of corporatization of the university with its management strategies such as cutting costs, scanning environments for competitive purposes, re-engineering highly competitive efficiency criteria for the staff will bring about a neglect of the humanist values rooted in intellectual and social sensibility and hence undermine the social mission of the university which, apart from professional skills and research, must cultivate intellectual pluralism by providing space for intelligent conversation, sharing critical views of the present state of things thus fostering social criticism and the spirit of responsible dissent.

Opis:
Sensitivity of dyes on the base of 4-valence tin complexes to the composition of environment was researched. It has been found out that such dyes by themselves keep stability and inactivity to the composition of atmosphere. However, the photoluminescence properties of the nanostructures on their base can differ sufficiently depending on conditions of their formation. So the glow intensity of the nanoparticle ensembles of dyes having amine substitute in the hydrazonic fragment depends on the concentration of solution which was used during their formation. Optimal concentration exists and its excess leads to weak luminescence due to concentration quenching. Thus, if the nanoparticle ensemble, which was formed at the optimal concentration will be placed into ammonium atmosphere, it will be equivalent to formation of this ensemble by inflated concentration of the saturated solution. So photoluminescence of such system will be weak. Thereby reduced glow intensity will keep sufficiently long time due to the appearance of leakage channels in the form of bridge bonds. In such manner one can register the presence of ammonium in the environment. Initial intensity of luminescence may be re-established by removing extraneous gas with the aid of the short-time low-temperature anneal. In addition, the ligand in the coordination set of the dye plays a part of an interstitial impurity, so its presence leads to certain distribution of the charges in the system. It has been estimated experimentally that less intensive glow corresponds to the charge distribution in the system with the one-dentant ligand, namely by higher content of chlorine ions than in the case of bi-dentant one. This difference is more evident for dyes having hydroxyl substitute in the hydrazonic fragment. Thus, if the nanoparticle ensemble of such dye having a bi-dentant ligand will be placed into the atmosphere containing hydrogen chloride vapours, it changes the charge distribution to the typical one for the dye having one-dentant ligand artificially. It also will lead to weakening of the glow of the system. Initial intensity of luminescence may be re-established by removing the extraneous gas again with the aid of the anneal by the same conditions. The usage of specified properties makes it possible to construct reliable and responsive detectors of ammonium or hydrogen chloride vapours by the change of the detecting element in the known luminescence gas sensors to the nanoparticle ensemble of an appropriate dye.

In §§ 50-51 of his Pensées sur l’interprétation de la Nature, Diderot draws consequences adverse to religion from the hypothesis of the sensibility of living matter in the Système de la Nature, prompting an endangered Maupertuis to respond. Diderot knows that he is reading his own materialistic conception of matter in Maupertuis but is feigning to object to it, while Maupertuis, who knows that the so-called objection is in truth Diderot’s own view, is compelled to defend himself. Through this rhetoric of feigned misunderstanding, real and fundamental questions (living matter, continuity, totality, unity of natural philosophy) raised by the phenomena of organization are being discussed.

The article is concerned with quite forgotten character and work of Pierre Jean Georges Cabanis, a physician and philosopher, but also a strong supporter of the French Revolution from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. His main scientific opus was the dissertation On the relations between the physical and moral aspects of man (Rapports du physique et du moral de l’homme) first published in 1802 and then repeatedly resumed in the 19th century, but virtually unknown in Poland. His medical points of view originally corresponded with materialistic philosophy; however, they also took into account the role of the spiritual and mental aspects of a human – this “biological, thinking mechanism”, as Cabanis thought. An important role in his book was played by theories related to sensualism. Using modern terms, Cabanis created something like physiological psychology. According to him, the body, or more precisely its organs, take part in the creation of human thoughts which seem to be only the physiological result of brain perception. This classic work was often invoked by successive generations of doctors and thinkers; it even appeared in artistic prose. Cabanis himself has had a fixed position in research and scientific studies for over two centuries.

The main inspiration for the article dedicated to aesthetics of picturesqueness in Jane Austen’s novels is W. J. T. Mitchell’s Introduction in Landscape and Power, where he defines a landscape not as a noun, but as a verb. In his dream of progress of human society, Cabanis has to navigate between the organic conception of the human being and vitalism, which can be seen as a critical approach to any scientific reductionism.

In this conceptual article we present a modular model of holistic education. Within this approach, an educational activity (and a child’s learning that derives from it) can be characterized in three dimensions: 1) safety, inclusion and participation; 2) interaction, cognition and representation; and 3) affective action leading to imagination and creativity. A holistic approach nurturing the full cognitive development of a child requires going beyond what a conventional school offers, but still presumes designed but liberating processes. We provide a neurobiological argument for holistic education supported by evidence for the featured three dimensions of holistic education along with illustrative examples.

The paper offers a contribution to the contemporary discussion on the hiddenness argument as it was formulated by J.L. Schellenberg. Starting from the famous statement of John of the Cross on the ultimate Word of God, it focuses on the Book of Revelation as somehow the very incarnation of such a word. Two rival interpretations of the chosen book are examined and confronted: one by D.H. Lawrence, and the other inspired by some selected writings of Silouan the Athonite. The former represents rather a critical and deconstructionist endeavour even if it is not totally deprived of a positive meaning (the forgotten vitality of the apocalyptic symbols). The latter suggests another hermeneutical possibility: the constructive and recapitulative one. This interpretation inspired by the exceptional hesychastic experience opens a practical orientation in reading of the Revelation and may be translated into more aesthetical terms. The perspective thus privileged to renew the senses seems to confirm backwardly the recapitulative reading following the hesychastic inspiration.

Theoretical background: Sustainable development is a new widely desirable course in the economy of the 21st  century. Its goals can be met by consumers implementing a zero waste concept understood as a lifestyle that assumes the maximum reduction of household waste production.Purpose of the article: The paper sheds a light on consumer awareness of the zero waste concept among young people, who face a long consumption life, and identifis the gender role in the process of applying this concept in practice.Research methods: To achieve the research goal, a survey was carried out among consumers aged 19–24, and the original consumer zero waste sensibility scale was proposed and employed to obtain results.Main findings: The outcomes suggest that the zero waste concept is more widely known among women, who show a higher level of consumer zero waste sensibility than men.

Der Beitrag beschaftigt sich ausgehend von Goethes Die Leiden des jungen Werthers mit dem Gefuhl der Gluckseligkeit in der Literatur der Aufklarung und Empfindsamkeit am Beispiel von Sophie von La Roches Die Geschichte des Fräuleins von Sternheim und damit dem unmittelbaren Vorfeld der Zeit um 1800. Unter Ruckgriff auf eudaimonie-Konzeptionen der Antike und der Fruhen Neuzeit sollen die Gluckseligkeit bzw. literarische Darstellungen, die als Medium der Erkundung und Herstellung menschlicher Gluckseligkeit – und damit auch der Annaherung an die Innenwelt des Menschen – fungieren, analysiert und vorgestellt werden. Die These ist, dass im Lichte einer verstarkt der ‚gluckseligen Innerlichkeit’ der Protagonist*innen zugewandten literaturwissenschaftlichen Untersuchung neue Erkenntnisse uber die Literaturepoche Empfindsamkeit und damit auch das angestrebte Gefuhlsleben der Zeit vor 1800 zutage treten.
Taking Goethe’s The Sorrows of Young Werther as a starting point, the article deals with the feeling of ‘Gluckseligkeit’ in the literaturę of the Enlightenment and Empfindsamkeit, using Sophie von La Roche’s The Story of the Fraulein von Sternheim as an example, and thus regarding the immediate run-up to the period around 1800. Drawing on the conceptions of eudaimonia formed in the antiquity and the early modern period, the author analyses and discusses literary representations that function as a medium for exploring and producing human ‘Gluckseligkeit’ - and thus for approaching the ‘inner world’ of human beings. The thesis is that in the light of a literary study that increasingly focuses on the ‘gluckselige Innerlichkeit’ of the protagonists, new insights into the literary epoch of Empfindsamkeit and thus also into the aspired emotional life of the time before 1800 come to light.

Celem pracy jest wstępna charakterystyka warunków bioklimatycznych południowego obrzeża Bellsundu. W tym celu wykorzystano powszechnie dostępne charakterystyki bioklimatyczne: wielkość ochładzającą powietrza (H), wskaźnik ochładzania wiatrem (WCI) oraz temperaturę ochładzania wiatrem (WCT). Obliczono ich wartości średnie, maksymalne i minimalne oraz rozkład częstości.
This paper describes the bioclimate of Calypsobyen. The station was located on Calypsostranda, a flat sea terrace, at the height of about 23 m a.s.l., at a distance of 200 m from Bellsund Fjord and 2 km from the Scott Glacier. The substratum was made of dry lichen-moss tundra. For this analysis there have been chosen two meteorological elements: air temperature and wind. The material used in this paper was taken from summer seasons from the years 2007 and 2008. We used meteorological data from the 10th of June to 11th of September from each year – together 188 days. Three bio-meteorological indices were analyzed: Dry Cooling Power (H), Wind Chill Index (WCI) and Wind Chill Temperature (WCT). Results of these observations are presented in tables. Mean cooling power in summer seasons amounted 1285.3 Wźm-2. Frequency of occurance of cooling power was counted according to Petrovič and S. Kacvinsky classification. In the investigated period predominated “cold” and “cool” cases. There were about 64.3% such cases. From among analysed meteorological elements influent cooling power, the wind velocity has the most importance. Correlation coefficient between the wind velocity and cooling power amounts +0.96. Mean Wind Chill Index (WCI) in summer seasons amounted 823.2 Wźm-2. In the investigated period also predominated “cool” and “cold” cases. There were about 93.2% such cases. From among analysed meteorological elements influent Wind Chill Index, the wind velocity has also the most importance. Correlation coefficient between the wind velocity and Wind Chill Index amounts +0.88. Mean Wind Chill Temperature (WCT) in summer seasons amounted 3.3°C. In the investigated period predominated only “very small” and “small” cases. There were 100% such cases. From among analysed meteorological elements influent cooling power, the air temperature has also the most importance. Correlation coefficient between the temperature and Wind Chill Temperature amounts +0.73.

The issue in the title is known and is being analyzed for a long time, however its complexity makes the setting of both – the future of it and contemporary form – emerge a lot of questions marks. I do not intend to leave most of them aside. I do make an attempt however to present its complexity and as well the importance in the reflextion upon life and activity of scholars. In these remarks I do recall several ways of presenting it and do make an attempt to stress out those of research possibilities which may lead to interesting outcomes. In the end part of the remakrs I do present some of them. I treat this step as an invitation to further discussion on the sensibility and anger of scholars.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki laboratoryjnych badań ściśliwości gruntów pylastych. Do badań wytypowano próbę gruntu pylastego z rejonu Wrocławia. Grunty pylaste stwarzają szereg problemów w geoinżynierii. Struktura tych gruntów charakteryzuje się dużą wrażliwością na zmiany wilgotności, co powoduje szybkie zmiany właściwości inżynierskich wraz z przejściem ze stanu nienasyconego do nasyconego wodą. W artykule oceniono wrażliwość struktury gruntów pylastych na zmiany wilgotności poprzez porównanie charakterystyk ściśliwości prób gruntów pylastych o naturalnej strukturze, początkowo nasyconych jak i nienasyconych wodą z charakterystykami otrzymanymi z prób gruntów preparowanych w laboratorium.
The results of laboratory examinations, of silty soil compressibility were presented. The soil sample have been taken from Wrocław area. Silty soil are creating a number of problems in geoengineering. The soil structure is characterized by a great sensitivity to changes water content what causes fast changes of engineering properties caused among others with change of the state from the unsaturated to saturated. In the paper a silty soil structure sensitivity was examined for the water content changes. The assessment were done by comparing of the oedometer curve get from test of soil about the natural structure, at first saturated as well as unsaturated with water, with oedometer curve gets from soil sample about the structure prepared in laboratory.

Opis:
Wytypowano grupę związków wysokoenergetycznych będących potencjalnymi kandydatami do zastąpienia obecnie stosowanych składników w plastycznych kompozycjach wybuchowych. Głównym kryterium wyboru stanowiła obniżona wrażliwość na bodźce mechaniczne. Zaproponowane energetyczne polimery mogą pełnić rolę lepiszcza poprawiającego właściwości wybuchowe gotowego wyrobu.
The group of high-energetic compounds as potential candidates for substitute currently used components of plastic bonded explosives was selected. The main selection criterion was a reduced sensibility for mechanical stimuli. Proposed energetic polymers as a binder can increase usable properties of final products.
