Opis:
The effect of aging time at 850°C for 300 s, 600 s, 1800 s, and 84600 s on the microstructural evolution and corrosion resistance of 2205 duplex stainless steel (DSS) was studied after cold rolling up to 60% of reduction. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron and transmission electron microscopy were used for microstructural characterization. The corrosion behavior was studied by cyclic potentiodynamic polarization (CPP) and electrochemical impedance technique (EIS) in 3.5% NaCl solution and the susceptibility to sensitization was investigated through the double loop electrochemical potentiodynamic reactivation (DL-EPR) test in 0.5 M H2SO4 + 0.1 M NaCl + 0.002 M KSCN solution. After cold working, increasing aging time led to an increase in sigma phase precipitation and a decrease in pitting corrosion resistance. However, the ultrafine microstructure had a beneficial influence on the self-healing effect in Cr and Mo depleted areas with the increasing of aging time, resulting in higher passivation ability. The DSS 2205 type was not susceptible to intergranular corrosion for the aged conditions applied.

Opis:
Numerous investigations of Morasko meteorites, have so far identified many secondary mineral phases like: goethite, lepidocrocite, akaganeite, siderite, calcite, ankerite, awaruite, nickel native as well as vivianite. Recently studies on a new found meteorites Morasko, allowed the identification of more secondary minerals. They are represented by: aragonite CaCO3, chukanovite Fe2(CO3)(OH)2 and hellyerite (Ni[CO3]·6H2O) (Karwowski et al. 2011). More detailed analysis of the above phases revealed a new secondary phases, which are represented by: reevesite (Ni6Fe3+2CO3(OH)16·4H2O) as well as jarosite (KFe3+3(OH)6(SO4)2).

Opis:
Partial chemical equilibrium plays an important role in geochemical systems. In the short turn-over time zone of hydrogeological systems, the conditions for the full chemical equilibrium amongst groundwaters, mineral phases and gases are rarely fulfilled. In these systems, partial chemical equilibrium is often responsible for controlling activity of solutes. Examples of partial chemical equilibrium with secondary phases in silicate systems of the weathered zone are given, and the role of metastable and stable secondary silicate solids is discussed.

Opis:
The quality of aluminum casts is necessary in order to reach sufficient properties required for application. The decreasing in the properties of aluminum cast mainly related with microstructure, especially with size and morphology of second phases. One of such second phases in aluminum alloys are the β-phases. These phases are unwonted mainly because of the decreasing of mechanical properties. The contribution is deal with influence of addition of Mn to affecting the formation of βphases in the AlSi7Mg0.3 and AlSi7Mg0.6 cast alloys. These materials are used for application especially automotive industry. The results shows, that addition of Mn is not sufficient for affecting of formation of the Fe-rich phases in AlSi7Mg0.6 cat alloys, but in the AlSi7Mg0.3 this addition lead to changes in formation of Fe-rich intermetallic phases.

Opis:
This paper deals with influence on segregation of iron based phases on the secondary alloy AlSi7Mg0.3 microstructure by chrome. Iron is the most common and harmful impurity in aluminum casting alloys and has long been associated with an increase of casting defects. In generally, iron is associated with the formation of Fe-rich phases. It is impossible to remove iron from melt by standard operations, but it is possible to eliminate its negative influence by addition some other elements that affect the segregation of intermetallics in less harmful type. Realization of experiments and results of analysis show new view on solubility of iron based phases during melt preparation with higher iron content and influence of chrome as iron corrector of iron based phases. By experimental work were used three different amounts of AlCr20 master alloy a three different temperature of chill mold. Our experimental work confirmed that chrome can be used as an iron corrector in Al-Si alloy, due to the change of intermetallic phases and shortening their length.

Opis:
The paper presents the influence of performance conditions of high-alloyed nickel-chromium cast steel intended for use in steam reforming plants on the morphology and number of phases present in centrifugally cast tubes. Structure identification was done by the methods of light and scanning microscopy. It was found that the main components of the tested cast steel microstructures are carbides of, among others, chromium, iron, and niobium. The structure has also been reported to contain the sigma phase. Additionally, at three test temperatures (20, 820 and 945°), the mechanical properties of the cast steel were determined after years of operation under industrial conditions. The tested material was characterised by low, compared with standard requirements, mechanical properties. A relationship between the content of phases (primary and secondary carbides), measured by the methods of quantitative metallography, and the yield strength of the tested material was determined. The yield strength determined at room temperature, and at 820° and 945° assumed higher values in samples characterised by a relatively large volume content of phases.
Do identyfikacji struktury wykorzystano metody mikroskopii świetlnej i skaningowej. Ponadto w trzech temperaturach badań (20, 820 i 945°) określono własności mechaniczne staliwa po eksploatacji w warunkach przemysłowych. Wyznaczono związek pomiędzy ilością faz (węglików pierwotnych i wtórnych), określona przy wykorzystaniu metody metalografii ilościowej, a umowną granicą plastyczności badanego materiału.
