The article presents two scientific cultures, which have different indicators and measures of scientific achievements. Community orientated culture is interested in building of the common area of ideas and it tries to unify glossary, methodology, rules and promotion of good practices. Scope directed cultures are inclusive and open for cooperation. Measures of science are totally different in both cultures- more unpredictable in the first case and very clear in the scope orientated scientific culture. For young scientists the closer community should be only a first stage in the long way to the scientific success. The article indicates virtual communities as a way for finding new possibilities of making science at the satisfactory level.

Opis:
The Society of Physical sciences (phisycs, chemistry and mineralogy) has been an important Romanian scientific society since its establishment, in 1890 until the middle of the twentieth century. This paper seeks to provide an analysis of its activity in the first two decades of existence, a less studied period, namely how its enterprises contributed to the dissemination and spread of the latest scientific ideas within Romania’s culture. The society was founded at the initiative of some of the most proeminent Romanian scientists of that period and, until the end of the nineteenth century, it expanded its sphere of activity by including sections on mathemathics and natural history. Therefore, its activity, exemplified by public conferences, presentation of members’ personal scientific endeavors, intellectual debates or scientific missions, reflected the general development of physical sciences in Romania in that epoch. This research is based mostly on a close scrutiny of society’s scientific journal.

Within the concept of the noosphere, popularized and developed by Vladimir Viernadsky, the author considers problems of reading and reading culture, in particular that of scientific material, in a global approach. Reading culture is then identified as a complementary element in the development of human cognition that will transform the social development into a prospective stage of knowledge and reason in the earth’s development, which is called by Vernadsky the noosphere.

The paper Towarzystwo Kultury Języka (Society for Language Culture): the past and the present is a brief recollection of the history of Towarzystwo Poprawności Języka Polskiego (Society for the Proper Use of the Polish Language) and Towarzystwo Krzewienia Poprawności i Kultury Języka (Society for the Propagation of the Proper Use and Culture of the Polish Language), scientific societies operating in the period 1932–1939, the successor of which is Towarzystwo Kultury Języka (Society for Language Culture). It reminds also of the directions of the operation of TKJ and its accomplishments, with a particular focus on the works concerned with the implementation of the project entitled „Dialog pokoleń” (Dialogue of generations) and cooperation with the local governments of Mazovia and Podlasie poviats, cities and towns.

Thomas (ed.), Routlege: New York-Abington, 2014, ss. 320.The book under review is a collection of articles presenting the functioning of the idea of the human race in the scientific, social and cultural backgrounds. The main purpose is to demonstrate how the concept of race have circulated from the late 18th century in scholarship as well as in popular reception. Thus the authors focus their attention on the so-called ethnological expositions (such as Negro or Eskimo Villages) organized on the occasion of world‘s fairs, today known as “human zoo.” On the social level, this helped support the conviction of the supremacy of the white race.  Czy jesteśmy  „ludzkim zoo”?Recenzja: The Invention of Race. Scientific and Popular Representation, N. Bancel, T. David, D. Thomas (ed.), Routlege: New York-Abington, 2014, ss. 320.Recenzowana praca zawiera zbiór artykułów poświęconych przedstawieniu funkcjonowania koncepcji podziału ludzkości na rasy na szerokim tle: naukowym, społecznym i kulturowym. Główny cel stanowi zobrazowanie procesu cyrkulacji idei rasy – od ujęć naukowych począwszy od końca XVIII w. aż do ukazania problemu na płaszczyźnie odbioru masowego. Tu obiektem zainteresowań badawczych stały się tzw. ekspozycje etnologiczne (np. wioski murzyńskie, eskimoskie) organizowane przy okazji wystaw światowych, określane dzisiaj mianem „ludzkich zoo”. Płaszczyzna ta przyczyniła się do utrwalenia w świadomości społecznej poczucia supremacji białej rasy.

Purpose. The aim of the publication is to present the issue of the content of the Polish scientific journal,,Ido Movement for Culture. Journal of Martial Arts Anthropology “on the example of the first five years (2011‒2015) of its existence. This will probably get at least partial answers to questions about 1) the impact of possible thematic diversity on the development of Polish scientific periodicals in the context of their internationalization, among others, through databases grouping this type of journale and 2) the legitimacy – from the point of view of modern science – the functioning of this type of journales. Introduction. The subject of the article is set in the context of the sociology of knowledge, and scientific information on the development of contemporary periodicals. The object of the research is a journal devoted to physical culture, cultural tourism and selected humanities sciences (philosophy, sociology, history, pedagogy and psychology), which emerged from another journal,,Ido – Movement for Culture” wchich was appeared in 2000‒2010. The periodical, on an international scale, is relatively small group of scientific journals directed towards themed arts and sports (less combat-type systems) fight. It is published by the the Scientific Research Committee of Idokan Poland Association, under the auspices of, among others, International Martial Arts and Combat Sports Scientific Society and the International Association of Sport Kinetics, in cooperation with several other institutions (eg. University of Rzeszow). Methodology. Methodology. The research method used elements of content analysis (also with elements of quantitative and qualitative content analysis). The data obtained are assigned to the appropriate category designated content of the contents is tested journals and categorization carried out by the same editorial team and publisher. Also analyzed the structure of the authors, both due to its titles and degrees, as well as the so-called. factor internationalization. We studied the types of publications posted there. Conclusions. The results indicate the diversity of thematic journal tested for this subject, together with mergers content considered by the authors in interdisciplinary shots. At the same time, you can draw conclusions about the ongoing development of this journal presented both in terms of content and the presence of the most important bases grouping the best scientific journals.

Aim: The study is aimed at outlining the functioning of the Cieszyn Research School for Borderland Culture and Education, founded and developed over the last three decades by Professor Tadeusz Lewowicki at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Faculty of Ethnology and Educational Sciences (currently: Faculty of Art and Educational Science). Methods: The School’s activity was described on the basis of the concept of distinguishing and estimating seven factors/phenomena attributed to a scientific school – genealogy, time, place, self-awareness, ideological core, methodological core and writings, styles and worldviews, developed by Zbysław Muszyński. Results: The article synthetically presents the results of team research initiated in 1989 in the Polish-Czech borderland in Cieszyn Silesia. The researchers focused on educational environments (family, school, local communities, churches of various denominations), problems of social and educational policy, socialization and identity formation, teacher’s work in multicultural conditions and social conditions of intercultural education. The result of these undertakings is the series “Edukacja Interkulturowa /Intercultural Education/”, published since 1992, which currently comprises 95 volumes. Conclusions: Over thirty years of theoretical achievements, research results and practical experience of the Cieszyn Research School for Borderland Culture and Education, as well as of other Polish research centers dealing with the issues of multi- and intercultural education, became the basis for developing a synthesis containing the outline of intercultural pedagogy – as a discipline of educational science.

The subject of analyses are issues of research undertaken in scientific publications by Zbyszko Melosik from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the content of which is of key significance to reforms in paedagogical sciences after the year 1989 in Poland, as well as to the understanding of international and domestic value of the cooperation of this scientist with academic circles. It is also an example of the establishment and evolution of the Poznań research school in culture, comparative and general paedagogy. They indicate a clear union between the conditions of socioculturaland education studies in light of the assumptions of post-modernism and critical paedagogy and the richness of sources by this author, connecting Polish paedagogical thought with the world discourse on socialisation and broadly understood education.

Autorka analizuje kompozycję, język i styl 16 artykułów przyjętych do druku w pewnym czasopiśmie muzealnym. Rozpatruje je w kontekście komunikacyjnym, to jest z punktu widzenia potrzeb i celów wymiany informacji naukowej w środowisku humanistów z różnych dziedzin. Korzysta z definicji kompetencji komunikacyjnej opracowanej przez Stanisława Grabiasa. Traktując teksty jako celowe wypowiedzi konkretnych osób realizowane w stopniu odzwierciedlającym poziom ich sprawności komunikacyjnych, bada kompetencje nadawców w zakresie ich sprawności systemowej, społecznej, sytuacyjnej i pragmatycznej.
The author analyses the arrangement, the style and the language in 16 papers approved for print in a Polish professional museum journal. She views them in the communication context i.e. from the point of view of the needs and goals of scientific information exchange among scholars from various areas of the humanities. The author uses the definition of communication skills coined by Stanisław Grabias. By approaching the texts as intentional expressions of specific individuals reflecting their communication skills, the author examines the writers’ systematic, social, situational and pragmatic linguistic proficiency.

The economic industrialization in the 1920s and 1930s influenced the structure of the society. It was also present in fiction, particularly in poetry. In understanding women the concept of progress had certain peculiarities, since it was associated with the changes of social roles women performed. Just examine the works of Z. Bandaryn, E. Pflaumbaum and other authors of Eastern Belarus. They are an evidence that understanding progress was connected with: a) development of science and technology; b) changing (or at least declaring such changes) gender roles and strengthening the position of women in society (in the party) and in literature. However, in female poetry of this period there is lack of reflection, a critical attitude towards the changes in women’s lives, especially with regard to the results of these changes. Progress was understood and portrayed unilaterally without analyzing women’s social status and their position in society.

Jednym z podstawowych źródeł kształtujących społeczną percepcję zaburzeń psychicznych jest kultura. Sposób, w jaki osoby z zaburzeniami psychicznymi przedstawiane są w mediach, telewizji, filmie czy popkulturze, znajduje swoje odbicie w obiegowych przekonaniach i społecznych postawach wobec nich. Do zaburzeń, z których kulturowym obrazem najczęściej spotyka się masowy odbiorca, niewątpliwie należy psychopatia. W niniejszym artykule podjęto się poszukiwania odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jakim stopniu wizerunek psychopaty obecny we współczesnej kulturze pokrywa się z perspektywą naukową i badaniami nad osobowością psychopatyczną. Analizę oparto na przeglądzie badań weryfikujących ten związek. Wskazano również na problematykę wpływu kultury na tworzenie się wiedzy potocznej na temat psychopatii. Wnioski płynące z przeprowadzonej analizy mogą się okazać przydatne zarówno w rozważaniach nad relacją nauka-media-społeczeństwo, jak i stanowić inspirację do dalszych poszukiwań badawczych dotyczących specyfiki obrazu osobowości psychopatycznej, którego nośnikiem jest kultura.
Culture is one of the salient sources shaping social perception of mental disorders. The way that mentally disordered people are portrayed in media, TV, movies and pop culture reflects in common beliefs and social attitudes toward them. Undoubtedly, psychopathy falls within the realm of these disorders, the cultural depiction of which is increasingly presented to the mass audience. This article endeavors to explore whether the portrayal of psychopaths in modern culture aligns with scientific perspectives and research on psychopathic personality traits. Drawing on a review of pertinent research, the analysis delves into the relationship between cultural representations and scientific understanding. Additionally, it highlights the impact of cultural influences on public knowledge of psychopathy. The conclusions derived from this analysis could prove valuable not only in the exploration of the interplay between science, media, and society, but also in stimulating further inquiry into the distinct portrayal of psychopathy evident in cultural contexts.

Pedagogika pracy jest subdyscypliną pedagogiczną podejmującą zagadnienia wychowania do wykonywania pracy w trakcie całego życia człowieka. Zachodzące współcześnie przemiany społeczno – gospodarcze sprawiają, że zakres problemów podejmowanych na jej gruncie systematycznie się poszerza, czego szczególna kulminacja miała miejsce po wprowadzeniu w Polsce gospodarki rynkowej. Pedagogika pracy jest subdyscypliną pogranicza nauk, co sprawia, że jest mocno powiązana z wieloma innymi dyscyplinami nauki, co utrudnia określenie jej odrębności. Pomimo to jednak, można dostrzec w niej cechy subdyscypliny naukowej. Szereg obszarów problemowych wyodrębnionych w jej ramach jest ważnych dla pedagogiki i nauk społecznych. Są one systematycznie badane przez pedagogów pracy. W pedagogice pracy wykorzystywane są teorie naukowe powstałe na gruncie innych nauk społecznych, a także zostały wypracowane własne koncepcje teoretyczne wyjaśniające problemy zarysowane w triadzie tematycznej: człowiek – wychowanie – praca. Ważnym zadaniem pedagogiki pracy jest upowszechnianie jej dorobku teoretycznego na gruncie innych subdyscyplin pedagogicznych a także innych nauk.
Labor pedagogy is a subdiscipline of pedagogy which tackles issues of upbringing to perform work throughout the entire life of a person. Contemporary socio-economic changes mean that the range of problems undertaken on the basis of labor pedagogy is systematically expanding, which culminated particularly after the introduction of a market economy in Poland. Labor pedagogy is a subdiscipline of the borderland of sciences, which means that it is strongly associated with many other disciplines of science. That makes it difficult to determine its separateness. Despite this, however, the features of a scientific subdiscipline can be recognized in it. A number of problem areas identified within it are important for both pedagogy and other social sciences. They are systematically examined by labor pedagogy researchers. In labor pedagogy, scientific theories based on other social sciences are used as well as its own theoretical concepts have been developed . They try to explain the problems outlined in the thematic triad: man - education - work. An important task of labor pedagogy is to disseminate its theoretical achievements on the basis of other subdisciplines of pedagogy as well as other sciences.
