    Opis:
    This study analyses various word combinations with the lexemes loneliness and lonely. The research is based on exemplifications originating from modern dictionaries of Polish as well as phrases and expressions used on some selected websites. Most of the structures collected indicate that the lexemes loneliness and lonely are negatively charged regardless of the shades of meaning and context to which they apply. The combinations are often based on oppositions, which enhances the negative evaluation of the content conveyed. Furthermore, in the word combinations under study, man is often depicted as an object exposed to loneliness on which he or she has little influence.

    Opis:
    Przedmiotem niniejszego artykułu są akty terroru w Polsce, które wpisują się w modus operandi „samotnego wilka” przygotowującego zamach bombowy. Improwizowane urządzenie wybuchowe, skonstruowane w celu dokonania zamachu terrorystycznego, z przygotowanych doraźnie lub wykonanych fabrycznie elementów, zawierają urządzenie zapalające oraz materiał wybuchowy lub ładunek specjalny. Bombą może być każdy przedmiot uprzednio zakamuflowany przez sprawcę, jak również substancja ciekła i krystaliczna. Rok 1990 można uznać za początek współczesnego terroru bombowego w Polsce, kiedy to w trzech punktach Gdańska eksplodowały samodziałowe ładunki wybuchowe. W latach 1990–2004 na terenie Polski doszło do 1371 skutkowych aktów terroru kryminalnego z użyciem materiałów wybuchowych, jednak w ostatnich latach widoczna jest tendencja spadkowa zjawiska.
    This article presents the acts of terror in Poland which are part of the modus operandi of the “lone wolf” preparing a bomb attack, with the use of an improvised explosive device designed for the purpose of a terrorist attack, prepared ad hoc or with pre-made components, including incendiary and explosive devices or a special cargo. A bomb can be any object previously camouflaged by the perpetrator, as well as a liquid substance and crystalline. The year of 1990 can be considered the beginning of modern terror bombing in Poland, when the homespun explosives exploded in three points Gdansk. In the years 1990–2004 on the Polish territory there occurred 1371 acts of terrorism with criminal use of explosives, but in the recent years the trend has been a declining phenomenon.

    Bezzałogowy statek powietrzny używany przez armię jest środkiem o charakterze militarnym stosowanym powszechnie do zwalczania siły żywej na współczesnym polu walki. Niniejszy artykuł w pierwszej części rozważa możliwość stosowania art. 51 Karty Narodów Zjednoczonych jako odpowiedzi na agresję ze strony podmiotu niepaństwowego, będącą organizacją terrorystyczną. Artykuł odnosi się przy tym do tzw. Doktryny Busha oraz Narodowej Strategii Bezpieczeństwa USA. W dalszej części publikacja traktuje o prawnych aspektach zastosowania dronów w kontekście walki z międzynarodowym terroryzmem, poszukując odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy możliwe jest użycie tego środka pola walki w zgodzie z wymaganiami wypływającymi z międzynarodowego prawa humanitarnego.
    Uav – unmanned aerial vehicle as the army’s item of equipment is the military weapon, which is universally used throughout the contemporary battlefield for combating enemy forces. The present article concerns the problem if the 51st article of the Charter of the United Nations is applicable as the response to aggression from the non-state subject, which is the terrorist organization. The article concerns the Bush Doctrine and National Security Strategy of the United States in this context too. In the further part, the article concerns the legal aspects of using drones for combating international terrorism, looking for the answers if the using of drones is legitimate according to the international humanitarian law.

    Opis:
    W artykule zaproponowano dynamiczne ujęcie zjawiska terroryzmu. Przeanalizowano jego historyczną ewolucję w zakresie struktur, taktyki i ideologii. Ukazano przemiany terroryzmu od żywiołowego, indywidualnego skrytobójstwa przez tajne organizacje paramilitarne, po opór niekierowany i fenomen „samotnych wilków”. Przedstawiono także perspektywy rozwoju terroryzmu jako elementu wojen asymetrycznych i konfliktów społecznych (tzw. soft-terroryzm).
    This article is a proposal of dynamic conceptualization of terrorism. The author analyzes historical evolution of terrorism in terms of organization, tactics and ideology. He features the transformation of terrorism from spontaneous individual assassinations through secret paramilitary organizations to the so-called "leaderless resistance" and “lonely wolves”. He presents the perspectives of future development of a terrorism as an element of an asymmetrical warfare and social conflicts (soft-terrorism).

    Dzisiaj za pomocą planowania, projektowania, przepisów, norm i standardów jakości podejmowane są próby poprawy jakości życia mieszkańców w przestrzeniach publicznych w miastach. Mimo tych działań, w wielu wypadkach tworzy się "jałową przestrzeń". A przecież w niedalekiej przeszłości w przestrzeniach tych tętniło "towarzyskie życie". Autorka w artykule omawia zagadnienie "martwych przestrzeni publicznych" w miastach, pozostawiając omawiany problem bez odpowiedzi.
    Attempts at improving the quality of life of residents in public spaces of cities are being made today, using tools offered by planning, designing, regulations, norms and quality standards. Despite these efforts, in numerous cases a "barren space" is created. And yet, not so long ago these spaces were teeming with social life. In this article the author discusses the subject of "dead public spaces" in cities, leaving the discussed issue without any answer.

    Opis:
    This paper discusses the threats related to the development of the phenomenon known as lone wolf violence. Its main goal is to analyze lone wolves' activities, particularly their tactics in carrying out actions that pose a threat to aviation safety. The primary method used for the main argument of the paper, interdisciplinary modeling of the determinants of violence, allows for formulating forecasts on the development of lone wolves phenomenon in the most important context for those predictions, i.e., changeability of used means. This inventiveness comes down to disorganized forms of functioning (leaderless resistance) and the methods used in fighting, both of which stem from considerable power disproportions between lone wolves (terrorists) and states. The development of violence among lone wolves is analyzed from the perspective of this constantly changing tactical and technological means. This paper is of both explanatory and prognostic nature. It consists of five parts. The first is dedicated to providing theoretical background and depicting case studies that serve as a starting point for the following analyses. The second section is dedicated to a brief description of used methods. Next, the types of lone wolves' activities are characterized and examined. In section four, the current and potential tactics employed by terrorists are analyzed. This paper concludes with the author's prognosis regarding the future development of this phenomenon.

    Raphael Lemkin (1900–1959), a Polish-born jurist and Holocaust survior lead an extraordinary life of struggle – to educate the world about genocide and create mechanisms to punish perpetrators .Because of that his „Totally Unofficial. The Autobiography of Raphael Lemkin” draws attention. While writing about the book Bogdan Grzeloński gives a spotlight to these issues and events that Lemkins is silent about. Based on the newest resarch and publications he presents in detail the beginnings of Lemkins University education. He explains why Lemkn resigned from the prosecutors office and became lawyer. He describes how Lemkin was consistently building his position among the lawyers in Europe. He presents new fact about how Lemkins managed to save himself from Holocaust and flee from two aggressors, German and Soviet, that invaded Poland. And how, thanks to his acqauitance with the prominent Swedish laywer Karl Schlyter Lemkin first go to Stockholm and later emigrated to the United States. Finally Bogdan Grzeloński gives an account of Lemkins involment in the establishment of the Nuerenberg Tribunal. He is of the opinion, that even if many facts were omitted from this work, it dosent diminish its signifance. Raphael Lemkin autobiography is still an extraordinary book.
