The sacrament of penance and reconciliation constitutes an integral part of the Christian life. It restores the state of sanctifying grace lost by man as a result of mortal sin. Confession also plays a major role in the preparation of prospective spouses for being joined in the sacrament of matrimony. No mandatory duty is imposed at this point by the legislation yet the sacrament of penance is strongly recommended before the holy matrimony takes place in order to render it more fruitful. The priest preparing the prospective spouses for the holy matrimony is obliged to raise the question of premarital confession and be of help should the need arise.The confessor of the prospective spouses should be characterised by appropriate spiritual and intellectual formation. He should demonstrate particular tactfulness and thoughtfulness when asking questions, especially those concerning premarital sex. The minister’s teaching ought to result in providing positive guidelines for the future married life.The prospective spouses are supposed to fulfill all the acts of the penitent: repentance, disclosure of sins and reparation. A careful examination of conscience is yet another significant component paving the way for a good confession and fruitful matrimony.

Opis:
Contemporary Rites put forward three forms of celebration of the sacrament of penance and reconciliation. The intention of Rites of penance in a renewed form was to demonstrate the nature and effect of the sacrament of penance more clearly and to show their social dimension. This is best expressed by the second way of celebration – the rite of reconciliation of many penitents with individual confession and absolution. It helps to understand better a social dimension of sin and forgiveness. In comparison to the first form – the rite of reconciliation of one penitent with individual confession and absolution – we can see how the same elements of penance which are expressed in analogues signs stress a social character of the sacrament. A communal form of the sacrament of penance seem to be underestimated and it is hard to speak about it common usage. Against a background of this reluctance and sometimes of some arbitrariness in the practice of communal penitential celebration we must stress the necessity of sacramental catechesis. Youth retreats are the opportunity to change this situation as during them this form of celebration is often applied. The Penitential Rites include nine models of penitential services and demonstrate their benefit and significance in their theological and pastoral aspects. One can observe a distinct analogy with the penitential rite for many penitents with individual confession and absolution although they are different in their nature. Youth retreats give opportunity to revive the practice of those services. It this case it is necessary to prepare the celebration well. It is particularly important to adapt the content (subjects) and form to recipients and, if possible, to involve the young in the co-creation of the celebration.

Istotna kwestia, jaka została zawarta w sformułowaniu tematu, sprowadza się do ukazania postawy przebaczenia człowieka względem tego, który wobec niego zawinił, i wskazania jej skutków w życiu ludzkim. Tak określony cel wymagał odsłonięcia wpierw natury miłosierdzia Boga. Głębia i pełnia Jego miłosierdzia względem człowieka ujawnia się w przebaczeniu mu jego nieposłuszeństwa przez ofiarowanie przez Boga Ojca Syna Jednorodzonego, który przyjmując naturę ludzką, stał się człowiekiem i jako Bóg-człowiek złożył siebie w ofierze na kalwaryjskim krzyżu. Skoro Bóg w Chrystusie okazał człowiekowi przebaczenie, to tym samym zaprosił go do świadczenia przebaczenia innym ludziom i określił sposób jego okazywania. W tym względzie przebaczenie drugiemu człowiekowi ze strony człowieka staje się nie tyle zachętą, ile zadaniem. Wprawdzie człowiek jest wolny i w ramach swej wolności może tego aktu nie okazać winowajcy, ale tym samym sytuuje siebie w ostatecznym rozrachunku w płaszczyźnie sprawiedliwości. Ostateczną konkluzją analiz jest stwierdzenie, że okazane przez Boga w Chrystusie przebaczenie człowiekowi jego przewinień stanowi dla niego niejako zobowiązanie do świadczenia przebaczenia względem jego winowajców. Tak okazywane przebaczenie, choć jest trudne, to jednak staje się owocne zarówno dla przebaczającego, jak i tego, komu się przebacza. Pierwszemu pozwala zachować godność dziecka Bożego, trwać w pokoju ze wspólnotą ludzką i zaświadczyć o Bogu miłosierdzia, a uzyskującemu przebaczenie umożliwia osobistą odnowę i wejście na drogę międzyludzkiej solidarności.
Important issue that has been included in the wording of the theme is down to show the basics attitude of forgiveness of man from the one who sinned against him and indicate its effects in human life. Such a goal required the first unveiling of the nature of God’s mercy. The depth and fullness of His mercy to man is revealed in forgiving him his disobedience by the sacrifice of God the Father, only begotten Son, that assuming a human nature became a man and as God-man sacrificed himself on the Calvary cross. Since God in Christ showed forgiveness to man, he is thus invited him to provide forgiveness of others and determined way of showing it. In this regard, the forgiveness of another person from the man is not as much incentive, it is task. While man is free, and in the context of their freedom to act can not be the culprit, but thus situates himself in the end in the plane of justice. The final conclusion of the analysis is that shown by God in Christ forgive man his trespasses, for him, as it were an obligation to provide forgiveness to the culprits. Yes produced forgiveness, although it is difficult, it becomes fruitful for both forgiving and to whom to forgive. First to preserve the dignity of a child of God abide in peace with the human community and testify to God’s mercy, and – forgiveness that accesses allows a personal renewal and entering the path of human solidarity.

Zagadnienia sakramentu oraz postawy pokuty i pojednania w nauczaniu religii w szkole są zawsze aktualne, szczególnie w związku z ogłoszeniem przez papieża Franciszka Nadzwyczajnego Jubileuszu Miłosierdzia. Autor artykułu, na podstawie schematu zaczerpniętego z adhortacji św. Jana Pawła II Reconciliatio et paenitentia, ukazuje główne zakresy tematyczne odnoszące się do sakramentu pokuty i pojednania, jednocześnie wskazując na ich wykorzystanie w Podstawie programowej katechezy i Programie nauczania religii z roku 2010. Podkreśla, że problem związku nawrócenia z ewangelizacją jest złożony, w dużej mierze z tego powodu, że wymyka się planowaniu, w którym można by przewidzieć wszystkie czynniki. Zarówno nawrócenie, jak i ewangelizacja stanowią bowiem obszar, gdzie rozgrywa się walka dobra ze złem, Tego, który jest Prawdą, z ojcem kłamstwa. Działania podejmujących ewangelizację i wzywających do nawrócenia są niełatwe do przewidzenia, bo nikt z nas nie może powiedzieć, że w pełni jest zewangelizowany i że przynajmniej nie potyka się na drodze nawrócenia. Konieczne jest jednak tworzenie ram, w które Duch będzie wlewał swą moc i przychodził w ludzkiej słabości.
Issues of the sacrament and the attitude of penance and reconciliation in the teaching of religion in school is always up to date, especially in connection with the announcement by Pope Francis Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. The article, based on the diagram taken from the exhortation of St. John Paul II Reconciliatio et Paenitentia, shows the main subject areas relating to the sacrament of penance and reconciliation, while pointing to their use in the Core Curriculum program of catechesis and religious education from 2010. emphasizes that the problem of the relationship of conversion to evangelism is composed largely of For this reason, it defies planning, which could predict all factors. Both the conversion and evangelization are in fact an area in which takes the struggle between good and evil, the One who is the Truth with the father of lies. Taking action calling for evangelization and conversion are difficult to predict, because none of us can say that it is fully evangelized, and that at least does not stumble on the path of conversion. But it is necessary to create a framework in which the Spirit will be poured its power and came to human weakness.

Opis:
The need of being purified of sins, reconciled with Got and willingness of having the wrongs committed repaired, has always been present not only in Judaism and Christianity but also in all other religions. The Old Testament shows the Chosen Nation’s sinfulness, the mystery of its iniquity as well as the ability to do penance and be converted. Various peniten-tial practices are its expression. Among them a distinctive place is given to fasting, prayer and almsgiving. The Old Testament speaks about Got who is full of mercy and forgives those who repent and shows them His love. Jesus began his teaching with the call to repentance and penance. Christianity has accepted penitential legacy of the New Testament and that of the first Christians, creating numerous pious practices and devotions for the benefit of the spiritual revival. In the course of the ages the spirit of penance in the Church has developed and in various ways enlivened hearts of the faithful. This article deals with the spirit of penance in the Old and New Testament. It also analyses penitential liturgy and ascetic practices that were in support of spiritual revival. The final part points to the most popular contemporary penitential acts and devotions that prompt repentance among the faithful.

Synody rodziny w latach 2014 i 2015 rozważały możliwość dopuszczenia do sakramentu pokuty i Eucharystii osób rozwiedzionych, które zawarły nowy związek. Większość biskupów nalegała na utrzymanie dotychczasowej dyscypliny ze względu na konstytutywny związek między uczestnictwem w Eucharystii i komunii z Kościołem, a także jego nauczaniem o nierozerwalności małżeństwa.
This article offers a broad analysis on the theme pastoral care of Church members who got divorced and entered into new unions, or their situation is “irregular” in some way. The 2014 and 2015 Synods on the Family considered the possibility of granting the divorced and remarried access to the sacraments of penance and the Eucharist. Most bishops insisted on maintaining the present discipline because of the constitutive relationship between participation in the Eucharist and communion with the Church as well as her teaching on the indissolubility of marriage.

W marcu 2011 roku Kongregacja do spraw Duchowieństwa wydała dokument zatytułowany „Kapłan, minister Bożego Miłosierdzia”, która stanowi pomoc dla spowiedników i kierowników duchowych. Analiza tego dokumentu wskazuje na konieczność ponownego odkrycia sakramentu pokuty i duchowego przywództwa, przez kapłana i penitenta. To poprzez sakrament pokuty i kierownictwa duchowego, które poprzez sumienia wierzących są utworzone. Ta rzeczywistość jest też elementem nowej ewangelizacji co powinno prowadzić do osobistego spotkania z Jezusem Chrystusem i w ten sposób do wzrostu w świętości.
In March 2011, the Congregation for the Clergy issued a document entitled „The Priest, Minister of Divine Mercy", which is a help for confessors and spiritual directors. Analysis of this document indicates the need to rediscover the sacrament of penance and spiritual leadership, by the priest and by the penitent. It is through the sacrament of penance and through spiritual leadership that consciences of the believers are formed. This reality is also an element of the new evangeli¬zation which should lead one to personal encounter with Jesus Christ and thus to growth in sanctity.

Są Oni zaproszeni do wzięcia udziału w tej "wielkiej tajemnicy" miłości "aż do końca". Uczestniczą w nim i co stają się one w sposób zamierzony przez samego Stwórcę. Pomocą na ich drodze jest regularne doświadczenie sakramentu pokuty w połączeniu z kierownictwem duchowym.
The call to holiness is for the baptized the gift and task. It is a marvelous gift of God's infinite love, by which Christ gave Himself as a sacrifice of expiation for people's sins. Though Him the Church becomes holy. This is manifested in the sanctification of its members. The Church of sinners becomes the Church of saints by the persistent undertaking of conversion.In a particular way, sacramental spouses are participants in the love of Christ. They are invited to participate in this „great mystery". If you truly love and „to the end" - they participate in it and what they become as intended by the Creator himself. The help they get on their way is regular experience of the sacrament of penance combined with spiritual direction.

In seiner Untersuchungen, die einen Interdisziplinären Charakter haben, versucht der Verfasser das Schuldgefühl und das Sündenbewusstsein kritisch z behandeln. Die Untersuchungen gehen in zwei Richtungen, zunächst weis der Verfasser auf die wichtigste Elementen der analytischen Psychologie v. G. C. Jung hin, die mit dem Problem des Schuldgefühles eng verbunden sind, danach analisiert der Verfasser das Sündenbewusstsein im Lichte der Theologie. Die kritische Gegenstellung des Schuldgefühles und des Sündenbewusstseins ist sehr interessant dargestellt worden. Die Pastoraltheologische Schlussfolgerungen so wie auch die Pastoraltheologische Reflexionen schlissen die Untersuchungen.

Posługa spowiednika jest z jednej strony bardzo wymagająca a z drugiej zobowiązująca. Jest on bowiem świadkiem intymnego spotkania poranionego grzechem człowieka z przebaczającym Bogiem. W trakcie sakramentu pokuty penitent odsłania najtrudniejsze, najbardziej upokarzające i najboleśniejsze strony swego życia. Ukazuje całą swoją słabość, nędzę i grzeszność. Nie jest to łatwo uczynić przed drugim człowiekiem. Częstokroć ludzie mówią o tym tylko spowiednikowi. Winien on więc być świadom wielkiego zaufania jakim został obdarzony przez penitenta i przez Chrystusa, który czyni go znakiem Jego przebaczającej miłości miłosiernej. Posługa ta wymaga od kapłana zachowania w tajemnicy powierzonych mu wiadomości. Niezachowanie sekretu spowiedzi skutkuje dla spowiednika zaciągnięciem kary oraz osłabia a czasem niszczy zaufanie penitenta do szafarza sakramentu. Posługa ta uczy wielkiego szacunku dla grzesznika powstającego ze swego upadku.
The ministry of the confessor is very demanding on the one hand and, on the other very obliging. Confessor is a witness of intimate encounter of a sinful man with pardoning God. During the sacrament of penance the penitent reveals the most difficult, the most humiliating and most painful moments of life. Shows all his weakness, misery and sinfulness. Such condition is not easy to share with other man. Often it is a matter of talk with confessor. Therefore, confessor should be a witness of great confidence which was given to him through penitent and through Christ, who makes him the instrument of His forgiving, merciful love. Such ministry requires from the confessor absolute confidentiality. The effect of breaking the confidentiality of confession, is punishment of the confessor. Breaking the secret of confession also weaken and often destroys the trust towards the confessor. This ministry teaches us to respect the penitent who returns from his sinful way.

The Church’s penitential practice has been changing over the centuries and it assumed various forms. One of the interesting issues in this field is showing the attitudes assumed by the clergy and the faithful towards the Eucharist, and presenting the misuses that they could commit. The misuses concerned both the conditions one had to meet in order to properly celebrate the Holy Mass, the very celebration, and storing the Eucharist. In most penitentials it was stressed that the Holy Mass should be celebrated in one’s own community, and outside it – only with the bishop’s permission. It was also emphasized that a priest was allowed to celebrate a definite number of masses on a given day and on one altar (about five). It was impermissible for a priest to offer a Holy Mass for suicides or for persons who were sentenced to death. Priests had to take care of the proper form of celebration. According to penitential books it was a sin if a priest lost the corporal, if he celebrated the Mass while being intoxicated, or if he said the texts of the Mass —especially the Mass canon—carelessly. Medieval penitential books allow learning about the care with which the Eucharist was treated, and what misuses could be committed by the Christians of those times. Numerous canons presenting irregularities and the penances corresponding to them allow showing the timeless value and beauty of the Eucharist as the source and the peak in the life of the Church.

Opis:
I nuovi scenari culturali, sempre più secolarizzati, plurali e prepotentemente influenzati dalla cultura digitale pongono le scelte di vita, in particolare quella cristiana, di fronte ad antiche e nuove sfide. In essi quale posto occupa la fede cristiana? Questa domanda merita adeguata risposta che la Chiesa intende offrire proponendo un rinnovamento del cammino ecclesiale che punti sull’evangelizzazione delle culture ma anche della vita cristiana stessa e della pastorale sacramentale. Questo contributo mette in risalto l’antico e sempre nuovo rapporto tra evangelizzazione e sacramento della Penitenza, inquadrandolo nell’intrinseco nesso tra Parola e Sacramento, tra fede e sacramenti della fede che innervano l’esperienza cristiana concreta del singolo e delle comunità. In questo scenario il Sacramento della Penitenza, adeguatamente evangelizzato, ricompreso e ben celebrato, svolge un duplice ruolo; quello di rendere praticabile l’amore misericordioso di Dio che previene, accoglie, perdona e ridona vita e quello più specificamente “missionario” che traduce la testimonianza di vita rinnovata e misericordiata del penitente in un’autentica azione evangelizzatrice, il cui cuore è rappresentato dal messaggio della rivoluzione della tenerezza divina che fa nuove tutte le cose. Il singolo credente e le comunità traggono dal Sacramento della Penitenza la forza dell’amore misericordioso di Dio, che guarisce, risana e fa risorgere, e ripropone la vita cristiana come la più bella avventura da vivere, poiché il perdono chiesto e ricevuto diventa la più alta scuola dove si accoglie l’amore come dono che, a sua volta, va sempre donato.
Nowe scenariusze kulturowe, coraz bardziej zsekularyzowane, pluralistyczne i pozostające pod silnym wpływem kultury cyfrowej, stawiają stare i nowe wyzwania odnośnie fundamentalnych chrześcijańskich wyborów życiowych. Jakie miejsce zajmuje w nich wiara chrześcijańska? Pytanie to zasługuje na adekwatną odpowiedź, którą Kościół zamierza udzielić, proponując odnowę poprzez ewangelizację kultury, a także samego życia chrześcijańskiego i duszpasterstwa sakramentalnego. Niniejsze opracowanie podkreśla starożytną i wciąż życiodajną relację między ewangelizacją a sakramentem pokuty, ujmując ją w ramy nierozerwalnego związku między Słowem a sakramentem, między wiarą a sakramentami wiary, które przenikają konkretne doświadczenie chrześcijańskie jednostek i wspólnot. W tej perspektywie sakrament pokuty, odpowiednio ewangelizowany, zalecany i celebrowany, odgrywa podwójną rolę: urzeczywistnia miłosierną miłość Boga, która ochrania, przyjmuje, przebacza i przywraca do życia, oraz pełni rolę bardziej specyficznie „misyjną”, polegającą na przekładaniu świadectwa odnowionego i miłosiernego życia penitenta na autentyczną akcję ewangelizacyjną, centrum której stanowi orędzie o rewolucji Bożej czułości czyniącej wszystko nowym. Poszczególni wierni oraz całe wspólnoty czerpią z sakramentu pokuty siłę miłosiernej miłości Boga, która uzdrawia, leczy i wskrzesza oraz proponuje na nowo życie chrześcijańskie jako najpiękniejszą przygodę, jaką można przeżyć. Przebaczenie, o które się prosi i które się otrzymuje, staje się najwyższą szkołą, w której miłość przyjmuje się jako dar, który z kolei zawsze trzeba dawać innym. 
The new cultural scenarios which are more and more secularized, very plural and strongly influenced by the digital culture, in front of old and new challenges require the precise choices in life, in particular the Christian one. Let us usk, what place does the Christian faith occupy in them? This question deserves an adequate answer that the Church intends to offer by proposing a renewal of the ecclesial journey that focuses on the evangelization of cultures but also of Christian life itself and of sacramental pastoral care. This contribution highlights the ancient and ever new relationship between evangelization and the sacrament of Penance, framing it in the intrinsic connection between Word of God and Sacrament, between faith and the sacraments of faith that innervate the concrete Christian experience of individuals and communities. In this scenario, the Sacrament of Penance, adequately evangelized, understood and well celebrated, plays a twofold role: that of making practicable the merciful love of God that prevents, welcomes, forgives and restores life, and the more specifically “missionary” role that translates the witness of a renewed and merciful life of the penitent into an authentic evangelizing action, the heart of which is represented by the message of the revolution of divine tenderness that makes all things new. Individual believers and communities draw from the Sacrament of Penance the strength of God’s merciful love, which heals and resurrects, and re-proposes the Christian life as the most beautiful adventure to be experienced, since forgiveness asked for and received becomes the highest school where love is welcomed as a gift which, in turn, must always be given.
