Opis:
Transport studies that adopt complex analyses present methodological challenges that lead to the use of innovative techniques to address the limitations of traditional methods. In the Latin American context, people consider security as a relevant variable in their daily lives. Thus, when people travel around the city and choose a mode of transport, security becomes an important factor and should therefore be included in transport studies. However, the definition of security in terms of transport in the Colombian context remains unclear. Therefore, we examined the security perception effect on transport mode choice by addressing security as a latent variable consisting of three elements: environment, subject and transport mode. We proposed the use of virtual reality (VR) to recreate travel routes and offer participants a scenario of choice closer to the natural conditions of a trip. The participants were provided routes in the form of immersive 3D videos recreating natural trip conditions to identify their choices and travel behaviour. Recordings were made of daily scenarios and existing urban environments portraying real and active modes of transport, giving respondents an almost-natural experience. The use of 360-degree immersive videos offers a multisensory experience allowing both the capture of socioeconomic and travel information and the collection of journey perception. The experiment evaluated two environments in Medellín, Colombia (secure (E1) and insecure (E2)) and studied the effects of lighting conditions (day (D) and night (N)). A total of four videos (E1D, E1N, E2D and E2N) depicting six transport modes in tandem were assessed by 92 participants from Medellín and Bogotá, Colombia. We found that environment-associated security perception varies depending on the time of the journey (day/night) and one’s familiarity with the environment. The research results position VR as a tool that offers high potential to support transport studies. We found that people’s movements, gestures and expressions while participating in the VR experiments resembled what was expected from journeys in reality. VR constitutes a relevant tool for transport studies, as it allows for an assessment of active transport mode perceptions. It prevents participants from being exposed to the risk associated with travel to specific places and carries out several routes in different transport modes even when participants cannot or have never undertaken journeys in the modes under assessment.

Opis:
Work-related stress (WRS) is stress caused or exacerbated by work. As ‘maestro’, tour guides (TGs) perform a variety of tasks within and outside the job description. Tour guides inevitably feel stress due to the demands from various parties. This study focuses on WRS of TGs and contributes to the literature by identifying stress factors from the perspective of TGs. According to the explanatory sequential design frame, a quantitative study was conducted with 90 participants, followed by a qualitative one with 16. From the five categories extracted through content analysis, to understand the relationship between WRS and work-related ill health (WRIH), WRIH-type and WRIH-reason were further analyzed. Findings show that WRS accounts for 15% of all the health problems of TGs. Unsafe conditions (UCs) are responsible for much of the stress experienced, while harassment, bullying and mobbing (HBM) from customers, shopkeepers, drivers and travel agents is the main stressor.

Opis:
The Covid-19 pandemic impact all public spheres of city inhabitants' lives, also changed the conditions of traveling by public transport, especially in the field of personal passenger safety. The introduced limits on people in public transport vehicles and the need to maintain social distancing or cover the mouth and nose in a public transport vehicle - for various reasons - have been met with different understanding by users. The question then arose: are passengers actually complying with the rules of the pandemic when traveling by tram or bus? The paper attempts to assess the behavior of passengers, based on the opinions of people who observe these behaviors in their daily work, driving public transport vehicles. For this purpose, a survey was carried out among bus and tram drivers of the main public transport operator in Krakow. On the basis of 334 fulfilled questionnaires, it was found that - according to the drivers - passengers often quite freely approach the limits of people in vehicles, and often do not respect the social distancing, especially when alighting and boarding. However, what is optimistic, the drivers highly assessed their own safety when performing their official duties - which is extremely important in the context of ensuring the continuity of public transport during a pandemic. Only 10% of drivers considered that the current solutions to protect passengers (and drivers themselves) are sufficient, therefore they called for an increase in the scope of protective measures: an increase in the number of public transport courses (to keep existing passengers), the obligatory use of protective masks (instead of ineffective loosely obligation to cover the face and nose), or the introduction of closed driver cabins in buses (as in trams). The obtained research results are of a cognitive nature, they can be a supplement to the travel studies at this specific time. They can also provide support in taking action in the case of a return of the Covid-19 pandemic or similar incidents in the future.

Man is the most important cell in the work process. Despite the development of technology the accidents at work are still a phenomenon that brings both human and economic losses. Work safety in every enterprise should be prioritized. Unfortunately, the level of safety and health at work is not satisfactory. The Central Statistical Office as the main cause of accidents at work indicates the inappropriate and dangerous behaviour in the work process. Therefore, one should look for methods of effective management of work safety in the aspect of the human factor. Such method is Behavioral-Based Safety (BBS), which is the management of work safety through behaviour. This paper presents the characteristics of this method and the effects in enterprises that used it to develop safe and accident-free behavior among their employees.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to develop and test a theoretical model that explains that the impact of consumer perceptions of apparel safety on their consumption behavior is moderated by consumers’ attitude and the price in the relationship studied. A survey questionnaire was developed and conducted first in a pretest by 231 participants to initially identify possible measurement problems. Another 321 potential consumers subsequently filled in the questionnaire on our website, out of which 296 questionnaires were used to verify the validity and reliability by statistical analysis and the structural equation model. The paper identifies a set of apparel safety perception dimensions that do not drive safe consumption practices. It is further seen that price is more likely to moderate the relationship with consumer behaviors than perceptions and attitudes. Therefore, the paper significantly fills the gaps between apparel safety perceptions and apparel safety consumption behavior. The findings of the paper have significant implications for apparel companies who wish to explore the apparel market potential in China.

Opis:
This article presents the newest trends among pedestrians’ and car drivers’ attitudes from a survey performed at a roadside at the area of zebra crossings in Poland in 2018. Trends in road users’ attitudes and performance allow an understanding of the causes of road safety crashes to decrease deaths and injuries. Surveys of attitudes from questionnaires help gauge knowledge of road traffic laws and risky behaviours regarding road safety issues at crosswalks. Data of 800 questionnaires collected in 2018 according to the methodology first adopted in 2015 were analyzed and compared. Reliable and comparable results from 2018 published for the first time show changes in car drivers’ and pedestrians’ attitudes. Over the last three years, there have been changes in car drivers’ declared attitudes and performance towards 4 different road traffic situations at the crosswalks (when a pedestrian is approaching, waiting, entering, crossing). Before and after survey at the zebra crossings showed in 2015 according to questionnaire 88% car drivers declared giving way to pedestrians (in fact during observations on road only 20% car drivers gave way), in 2018 declared 85% car drivers and 78% already gave way to pedestrians on crosswalks. Drivers and pedestrians know the law, but do not always follow them in traffic. According to drivers’ opinions, both pedestrians and drivers display risky behaviours. 78% of pedestrians and 72% of car drivers favored more restrictive laws for car drivers to ensure that they slow down before approaching a crossing to allow pedestrians to cross. Risky pedestrian behaviour was mentioned by 76% of car drivers and pointed out as the main problem at crosswalks. n self-declared questionnaires, 90% of pedestrians stated that they must be extremely careful when crossing. The presented results influenced policy changes for implementation of more safety for pedestrians not only at zebra crossing but also when approaching it in Poland since 2021. The aim of the changes is to reduce pedestrians’ risk while crossing the road.

In the article there were presented general assumptions concerning employees’ hazardous behaviour modification programme with use of a behavioural audit. The author depicted a method of the audit conduct underlining the meaning of a dialogue with an employee for proper identification of reasons for hazardous behaviours. Therefore, a crucial role of auditors’ selection and training was emphasised for they deliver data for further analysis. The quality of data obtained in the behaviour and work conditions observation process is vital for the programme success. Consequently, periodic trainings for behavioural auditors need to be carried out to deepen their knowledge and improve the methods of auditing.

Opis:
Functionality of a square used for ferry boats boarding has repercussions on safety and comfort of users, as well as on the efficiency of maritime transport. Inadequate use of the infrastructure causes driving errors followed by corrective manoeuvres, loss of time and potential accidents with consequences for community and the maritime transport company. The wide diversification of traffic components and payment methods are generally managed through a traditional horizontal and vertical signage system that does not refer to any current legislation. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate driver's behaviour and the interaction that takes place between the latter and the environmental context. In particular, the authors focused on the study of the driver’s workload in a simulated environment, considering a users' sample and different driving scenarios inside the boarding area, concerning traffic conditions (isolated vehicle or presence of disturbing vehicles) and signs position. All this, in order to evaluate whether any change in a virtual context could bring real benefits to drivers, before being transferred to the real context. The results obtained, in terms of subjective workload and performance measures, have made it possible to judge the different solutions proposed in a simulated environment through synthetic indices referring to the entire boarding place or at certain parts of it. In this way, the manager can decide to change the circulation of the entire square or only some aspects of detail, such as some signals, in the event that they manifest an evident difficulty in the transfer of information. The use of the simulated environment allows greater speed in identifying the best solution, lower costs (avoiding the creation of a critical configuration for circulation) and greater user safety, since risky manoeuvres are identified and corrected by the simulator. The proposed procedure can be used by managers for a correct arrangement of the signs, for the purpose of correctly directing the flows and maximizing the flow rate disposed of.

The objective of this paper is to present results of dynamic tests of an arch span of the footbridge in Wronki near Poznań in Poland and clearly summarize them. The investigated footbridge, with asymmetrical arch and the main span 90.0 m long, is an example of original architecture and interesting structural solutions. The research campaign included normal live loads and vandal actions to the footbridge. Normal live loads tests examined the influence of various kinds of the pedestrian activity on the footbridge’s behaviour as: walking, jogging or fast running. The pedestrian comfort was assessed in this type of schemes. Vandal type of excitation consisted of synchronized walking or running and rhythmical half-crouching. The main aim of the vandal live loads was to check structure’s safety and behaviour in the extreme dynamic conditions. The research was carried out in a large group of pedestrians - under a crowd of 40 volunteers.
Schematy te posłużyły do oceny komfortu wibracyjnego użytkowania konstrukcji.

The primary purpose of the research was to investigate the effect of psychological safety on the silent behaviour of academic staff with the mediating role of happiness. This research was descriptive-correlational regarding the data collection method. The statistical population was all employees (administrators and teachers) of public schools in Tehran, of whom 373 persons were selected. The questionnaires included a “psychological safety” questionnaire by Edmondson (1999), a researcher-made questionnaire on “silence behaviour” according to the Vakola and Bouradas questionnaire (2005), and “happiness” by Oxford (1990). Descriptive and inferential statistics (Pearson correlation coefficient and structural equations modelling tests) were used to analyse the data. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between psychological safety and the employees’ happiness. Findings of the structural equations modelling indicated that the direct effect of psychological safety on silence was -0.61, and psychological safety with the mediation of happiness reduced to silence by -0.77. It could be concluded from the results of this research that happiness has an important effect on reducing organisational silence, and this research would provide a theoretical reference for managers to take comprehensive measures to improve happiness in the organisation.

Driving a car does not mean only controlling it and bringing it to the destination but it is also a social interaction of drivers towards each other, where emotions play an important role. Destructive emotions e.g. anger worsen the ability of making a decision. And it also holds for the people behind the steering wheel. Abroad, the questionnaires used for the detection of potential aggressive drivers, or diagnostics of drivers who already have a driving license, have a form of survey. In year 2010 was realized a questionnaire about aggressive behavior of drivers in Slovak republic from which came out very interesting information. Some information is mentioned in this paper.
Driving is an extremely complex behaviour that is also very difficult to measure. Recently, were conducted research which main purpose was quantification of chosen driving parameters to identify dangerous behaviours. For these research modern apparatus for psychophysiology reactions were commonly used, and experiments were made with the use of the driving simulator. Despite such possibilities, most of the researches over road traffic safety are still conducted with the use of self-reported questionnaires or with subjective evaluation of specialists. During driving process one of the most important aspect is a proper observation of road and its environment. Correct perception is necessary for proper reaction of driver for occurring events. Drivers attention is absorbed not only by the road, other road users and traffic infrastructure, but also by road environment elements like buildings, billboards and advertisements could attract his attention. A key to understand drivers’ behaviour seems to be measurement of his visual activity. To measure it, eye tracking instruments could be used, which allows to track drivers eyeball movements during driving. In Motor Transport Institute were recently conducted studies on drivers’ visual behaviour and indication of some which could be potentially dangerous. There were also indicated some differences over population in visual search strategies. These studies led to identification of some undesirable behaviours which could led to accidents. Following paper presents briefly process and results of chosen Motor Transport Institute research with use of a high-class driving simulator and mobile eye-tracker.
