Opis:
For a system of nonlinear difference equations that models the dynamics of exploited biological populations, a locally optimal periodic solutionis constructed. If this solution is unstable, a stabilizing feedback in the harvesting is introduced. The method is applied to an age-structured population model in fishery as well as to a host-parasitoid system for which the number of hosts and the number of introduced parasitoids shouldbe minimized.

Opis:
This study investigated musculoskeletal symptoms among fish trimmers (skinners and polishers) in a fish processing factory in Ghana. The methods used included administration of questionnaire, walk through observation, interview, task analysis and future workshop. All 50 female participants answered and submitted their questionnaires. Of the 11 operations performed by skinners only 1 was rated as low risk. Also of the 12 operations performed by polishers only 2 were rated as low risk. Neck side bending, neck flexion, prolonged standing, shoulder elevation, abducted arms, repetitious reaching forward and wrist deviation were observed in most operations. This corresponds with questionnaire results in which musculoskeletal symptoms were mostly prevalent in the neck, the shoulder, the low back, the wrist/hand and the knee regions. There was no significant correlation (p < .05) between musculoskeletal symptoms and age, working hours and length of service. Task redesign, workplace changes and worker training were suggested to improve the work.

This study investigated musculoskeletal symptoms among sanitation workers of a fish-processing factory. The methods used included administration of a questionnaire, walk through observation, interview, task analysis and future workshop. All 27 male participants answered and submitted their questionnaires. Of the 11 operations identified, all except one was considered safe. Bent back, bent legs, and heavy manual handling were observed to impose intolerable health risk on participants. This corresponds with questionnaire results in which musculoskeletal symptoms were mostly prevalent in the neck, the shoulder, the low back, the wrists/hands and the upper back regions. Poor psychosocial complaints were also made on the job. There was no significant correlation (p < .05) between musculoskeletal symptoms and age, working hours and length of service. Neither was any significant correlation observed (p < .05) between psychosocial work factors and musculoskeletal symptoms. Recommendations such as task redesign to eliminate high-risk elements in operations, workplace changes and worker training were suggested.

Opis:
Scientists of the Institute of Technical Operation of Marine Power Plants, Maritime University of Szczecin, are doing research on "The fishing craft modernisation program for the reduction of power consumption and minimisation of environmental impact" funded by an EU grant. The first step to reach the final aim - the reduction of the adverse effects of fishing craft on the marine environment - was to identify the age/size structure and distribution of Polish fishing vessels' main engines. This has enabled the preparation of the range and method of record keeping of fishing vessels' power systems.
W artykule wykorzystano informacje zebrane w czasie realizacji pracy badawczej "Program modernizacji jednostek rybackich w aspekcie zmniejszenia nakładów energetycznych i oddziaływania na środowisko" w ramach grantu UE. W artykule przedstawiono zebrane i opracowane materiały dotyczące struktury silników napędowych polskich jednostek rybackich, eksploatowanych w oparciu o polskie porty. Przeanalizowano zainstalowane moce napędu głównego w różnych grupach ich wielkości statków rybackich. Analiza była podstawą do opracowania "Karty ewidencji Jednostki".

W artykule ukazano zmiany, jakie nastąpiły w polskiej gospodarce rybnej po akcesji do Unii Europejskiej. Omówione zostały takie problemy, jak dostosowanie administracji rybackiej do wymagań UE, redukcja zdolności połowowej floty, rentowność rybołówstwa bałtyckiego, rozwój przetwórstwa rybnego i zmiany na rynku rybnym. Na podstawie wyników badań stwierdzono, że przyszłość polskiej gospodarki rybnej zależy od rozwoju rybołówstwa dalekomorskiego i przetwórstwa rybnego.
The paper is showing changes which followed the Polish accession to the European Union in the Polish fish economy. Such problems are described as adjusting of fishery administration to the Union requirements, reduction of fishing capacity, profitability of fishery, development of fish processing industry and changes in the fish market. Based on research results is a conclusion that the future of Polish fish economy depends on development of the deep-sea fishery and the fish industry.

Opis:
The paper presents analysis of structural funds usage in agriculture, rural development and fishery in Poland in the period of 2004–2006. The first part of the work focuses on operating rules of operational programs financing with The European Agricultural Guidance and Orientation Fund as well as Financial Instrument of Fishery Support. There is a description of priorities and measures of operational programs and the procedures of financial support assignment. The second part of the paper discusses the results of programs implementation in the Polish food economy and rural development. Special consideration is paid to the structure of submitted applications and to the phase of particular measures realization. The conclusions cover the state, that Operational Program “Restructuring and Modernisation of Food Economy and Rural Development” is the best implemented operational program of all included in National Development Plan, but the “Fishery and Fish Processing” Program still needs more beneficiaries activity and support from executive institutions.

Opis:
The paper offers information about the spatial diversity of the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) in such aspects as the spatial range of the phenomenon and its varying impacts on agriculture, i.e. plant cultivation and fishery. The author discusses both positive and negative consequences of the El Niño and La Niña phases. The nature of the phenomenon underpins the author's analysis of the region. Theoretically, the criterion for the differentiation of an impact region is the existence, within its territory, of a relationship between specific phenomena (in this case, natural phenomena and human agricultural activity), and the relevance of a given criterion is crucial for a problem at hand. Such a condition is fulfilled by areas with anthropogenic activity which are significantly subject to the ENSO influence. This approach is related to the research concept proposed by regional geography (Dumanowski 1981), which revolves around the relationships between the environment and man.
