Parents have asignificant impact on childreris decision about choice of their path of life. For years, forming of the level of parents and their children's educational and occupational aspirations was affected by living conditions of families from rural areas, difficult financial situation and worse education conditions of village schools. The aim of the research was presenting the mechanism of forming the educational and occupational aspirations of secondary school (Polish: gimnazjum) pupils in the country and in town and defining the relations between background conditions (including family background) and the level of pupils' educational and occupational aspirations. Particularly, the answer the ąuestion was tried to find - what are conditions of pupils of village secondary schools' life's aspirations (educational and occupational)? Presented results of the research are only the fragment of wider survey of conditions of young people's aspirations. Among numerous conditions, which have been analysed, the factors of family background appeared, such as: number of family members, families' financial and materiał conditions, parents' education, parents' aspirations to their children's education and family traditions connecting with working in particular profession.

political, economic and social transition of society. Family roles were tied with the processes of collectivisation and after 1989 with reversal privatization and transformation of agriculture. Before 1989, theoretical concepts were shaped by the ideological intentions of socialistic rural and agricultural development. Since 1989, they have been drawn from the democratic principles of social development. The rural family has been influenced by the Czech economic situation since joining the EU until the present. This paper, based on statistical data and published sociological studies, reflects the stages of the development of the rural family.

Wprowadzenie. Artykuł ma charakter teoretyczno-empiryczny. Poruszono w nim kwestie związane z realizacją zadań opiekuńczych i wychowawczych w wiejskich rodzinach wielopokoleniowych. W części teoretycznej scharakteryzowano opiekę, wychowanie, rodzinę, rodzinę wielopokoleniową i wiejską oraz zwrócono uwagę na generacje, które mogą występować w analizowanym typie rodziny. Zaprezentowano również wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w 2023 roku wśród rodziców z wiejskich rodzin wielopokoleniowych. Cel. Celem badań było ustalenie opinii rodziców z wiejskich rodzin wielopokoleniowych na temat sposobów realizacji zadań z zakresu opieki i wychowania (w stosunku do poszczególnych członków rodziny) oraz pojawiających się problemów w tym zakresie. Metody. W badaniach wykorzystano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego, technikę wywiadu według dyspozycji do rozmowy. Wyniki. Z przeprowadzonej analizy wynika, że wiejskie rodziny wielopokoleniowe borykają się z problemami: finansowymi, zdrowotnymi, szkolnymi, wychowawczymi i komunikacyjnymi. Wnioski. Należy zorganizować: a) dzienną opiekę dla seniorów usytuowaną zarówno w ich miejscach zamieszkania, jak też np. w gminnych ośrodkach kultury; b) dostęp do pomocy medycznej oraz psychologicznej; c) dodatkowe zajęcia pozalekcyjne oraz zajęcia pozaszkolne dla dzieci i młodzieży oraz zajęcia edukacyjne dla seniorów; d) lokalne imprezy okolicznościowe oraz formy aktywnego wypoczynku wspólne dla przedstawicieli różnych pokoleń; e) stałe połączenia komunikacyjne z miastem powiatowym.
Introduction. The article is theoretical and empirical. It raises issues relating to the execution of the care-providing and educational tasks in rural multi-generational families. The theoretical part provides characteristics of care, education, the family, the multi-generational and rural family, as well as pointing out the generations which may occur in the family type under analysis. The results of the research are also demonstrated as conducted in 2023 among parents of rural multi-generational families. Aim. The purpose of the research was to establish opinions of the parents of rural multi-generational families on methods of the execution of the care-providing and educational tasks (about individual members of the family) and problems that arise in this respect. Methods. The diagnostic poll method and the semi-structured interview technique were used in the research. Results. The analysis, as performed, demonstrates that rural multi-generational families struggle with the following problems: financial, health-related, school-related, educational, and communicational. Conclusion. The following should be organized: a) adult day care for senior citizens provided both in their places of residence and e.g. in community cultural centres; b) access to medical and psychological support; c) additional extracurricular classes and activities for children and teenagers, and senior citizens; d) local occasional events and joint forms of active recreation for different generations; e) fixed public transport connections with poviat (county) towns.

Opis:
‘Patriarchy’ is one of many terms frequently applied in the studies of the Polish countryside (its culture and people’s mentality). Perceived as self-evident, the notion hardly ever comes with an in-depth justification for its use. At the same time, ethnographic literature, classical rural sociology, diary materials, monographs, and linguistic data offer no evidence to support the claim about patriarchy in rural areas. While Polish society, part of which was rural, and the attitude of the Church as a rule could be described as patriarchal, rural communities developed mechanisms and customs that contradicted this general profile. Based on a review of arguments from various sources, the author draws a different conclusion and proposes its justification. As suggested by contemporary humanities and, more broadly, social sciences, dichotomous categories may hinder the theoretical analysis of reality, making a search for new, less dualistic but more adequate, concepts necessary. In view of the above, the term ‘patriarchy’ should not be used unquestioningly as a strictly ideological epithet.

Wprowadzenie. Artykuł ma charakter teoretyczno-empiryczny. Poruszono w nim kwestie związane z wychowaniem przez pracę w rodzinach wiejskich. W części teoretycznej zdefiniowano wychowanie przez pracę, przeanalizowano istotne z punktu widzenia zaplanowanych badań etapy rozwoju zawodowego: przedzawodowy, prozawodowy, zawodowy, oraz scharakteryzowano aktywnych uczestników rynku pracy. W dalszej części zaprezentowano przyjęte założenia metodologiczne oraz wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w 2023 r. wśród aktywnych na rynku pracy przedstawicieli pokoleń baby boomers, X, Y oraz Z. Cel. Celem badań było poznanie opinii aktywnych uczestników rynku pracy na temat realizowanych przez nich czynności samoobsługowych i zajęć domowych podejmowanych w okresie kształcenia przedzawodowego, prozawodowego oraz zawodowego, wskazanie różnic występujących w tym zakresie pomiędzy przedstawicielami różnych generacji, jak też określenie wpływu wychowania przez pracę na dokonywane wybory edukacyjno-zawodowe. Metody. W badaniach wykorzystano metodę indywidualnego przypadku oraz technikę wywiadu według dyspozycji do rozmowy. Wyniki. Z uzyskanych informacji wynika, że każdy uczestnik badania doświadczył wychowania przez pracę w domu rodzinnym. Osobami odpowiedzialnymi za przygotowanie dzieci i młodzieży, początkowo do realizacji czynności samoobsługowych, a następnie zróżnicowanych obowiązków domowych, byli rodzice, dziadkowie, a także starsze rodzeństwo. Z uwagi na zróżnicowane uwarunkowania życiowe związane z upływem czasu, zmianami gospodarczymi czy techniczno-technologicznymi oraz przeobrażeniami polskiej wsi, powierzane młodym ludziom zadania różniły się i były dostosowane do aktualnych potrzeb, jednak bezpośrednio nie wpłynęły na podejmowane przez nich decyzje edukacyjno-zawodowe (oddziaływały jednak na kształtowanie się kompetencji miękkich). Wnioski. Należy zwrócić uwagę na konieczność edukowania rodziców/opiekunów dzieci (nie tylko z terenów wiejskich) w zakresie wczesnego i w miarę systematycznego przygotowania ich do wykonywania czynności samoobsługowych oraz realizacji obowiązków domowych, które dostosowane będą do ich możliwości psychofizycznych. Edukacją w tym zakresie mogą/powinni zająć się przede wszystkim przedstawiciele instytucji oświatowych (którzy również wychowują młodych ludzi przez pracę i do niej), a formy wsparcia dla rodziców/opiekunów w tym zakresie niekoniecznie muszą mieć charakter spotkań formalnych, mogą to być też pogadanki przy okazji indywidualnych kontaktów bądź informacje zamieszczane na stronach internetowych instytucji.
Introduction. The article is theoretical and empirical in nature. It raises issues relating to education through work in rural families. The theoretical part defines education through work; it analyzes stages of career development, as essential from the point of view of the research planned: pre-vocational, pro-vocational, vocational; it also characterizes active labour market participants. Furthermore, methodological assumptions are presented, as adopted, as well as the results of a research done in 2023 among active labour market representatives of the Baby Boomer, X, Y and Z generations. Purpose. The purpose of the research was to establish opinions of active labour market participants on self-care activities and household chores as performed by them during the pre-vocational, pro-vocational and vocational education periods, to identify differences occurring in this respect between the representatives of the various generations, as well as to define the influence of education through work on educational and vocational choices made. Methods. The research used the individual case method and the interview technique according to interview instructions. Results. From the information obtained, it arises that all of the research subjects has experienced education through work in his/her family home. The people responsible for preparing children and young people for performing, initially, self-care activities, and then various household chores, were both their parents and grandparents, as well as elder siblings. Due to diverse determinants of life regarding the passage of time, economic or technological/technical changes or transformations of the countryside, tasks entrusted to young people varied and were adjusted to the their needs; however, these did not affect their educational and vocational decisions directly (still having an effect on the development of their soft skills). Conclusion. Notice should be taken of the necessity to educate children’s parents/guardians (not only from rural areas) with respect to preparing them in an early and, whenever possible, systematic manner to perform self-care activities and household chores, as adjusted to their psychophysical abilities. It is representatives of educational institutions who may/should deal with such education (they also educate young people through and to work), whereas forms of supporting parents/guardians in this respect do not necessarily have to be formal meetings; these may also include talks during individual contacts, or information on the subject posted on the institutions’ websites.

This study examines how people who have been constrained by extreme or chronic poverty, rural location, and adversity in interpersonal relationships make decisions and engage in agency through their narratives and everyday experiences. As a social scientific concept, the agency indicates the intentional behavior of individuals in the context of their environments, relations, and situations. In-depth, semi-structured interviews were collected with sixteen participants in rural south-central New York state who were living in extreme and/or chronic poverty. While exercising agency is viewed as important to the upward mobility of families and individuals in poverty, our participants encountered not only complex contexts for doing so but, at times, engaged in rebellious or counterproductive forms of agency. Furthermore, family ideology, such as traditional family values, shaped the perceived possibilities for forming one’s life course. We find the structure-agency dichotomy less useful than a framework that incorporates additional sources of constraints on agency, such as embodiment and culture. We also encounter difficulty in applying the concept of agency to the experiences of our research participants in ways that point to the necessary reworking of the concept.

Health care of children and young people is part of a system of care of the so called “developmental age population.” In this system, prevention plays a key role. The aim of the study was, basing on the obtained results, to develop guidelines for the regional pro-family policy in care of a rural child. The study included children and young people of school age, from 14 to 19 years of age. Overall the analysis included 6,971 children and adolescents and 6,971 parents. Organization of health care of children and school adolescents depended on the solutions approved by individual founding bodies of Health Care Units and Regional Patients’ Funds. The withdrawal of nurses from school was observed. The tasks of prevention character performed previously by nurses employed at schools began to be implemented within the framework of primary health care in the child’s place of residence. For proper implementation of the tasks of school nurses and the proper development of school hygiene, it is important to establish a uniform and maximum number of pupils per one nurse, taking into account all circumstances, and to develop standards of care for the student, taking into account the age of the student, school type, and the region.

In pedagogics the notion of values is analysed from many perspectives, however, the author of the article looks at it through the prism of the personalistic theory. The article presents the results of a research survey conducted in the group of 160 parents. The results are interpreted against the hierarchy of values based on the concept of integral development and education.
Przedmiotem rozważań teoretyczno-empirycznych są wartości w wychowaniu realizowanym w rodzinie ze środowiska wiejskiego. Wartość w pedagogice ujmowana jest z różnych perspektyw, jednak autorzy artykułu dokonują analizy tematu z uwzględnieniem orientacji personalistycznej. Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań prowadzonych w grupie 160 rodziców przy zastosowaniu techniki ankietowania. Ich wyniki interpretowane są w odniesieniu do hierarchii wartości opartej o koncepcję integralnego rozwoju i wychowania.

The current study presents status and the need for improvement of the land distribution of family agricultural holdings in Poland. The assessment of the distribution of farm lands in the area between 1 and 300 ha has been made according to the 2013 data and provided by the Polish Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture (ARMA). Our analysis included totally app. 750,000 of family agricultural holdings. The evaluation of land consolidation was based on the two regional criteria proposed by the Regional Offices of Geodesy and Agricultural Areas, i.e. the plot size and the number of plots within individual family farms. The family agricultural holdings, that are included to the Polish system of agricultural support, have an average land area of around 16.0 ha, and this refers to around 6 cadastral plots with an average acreage of app. 3.0 ha. The need of land consolidation was estimated to be at the level of app. 7.1 million ha (this corresponds to 69.14% of total agricultural area land in Poland). The problem occurs in the entire country, but the worst situation is in the southern, south-eastern and central Poland. The implementation of the land consolidation and farmland exchange procedures within the Programme RDP (Rural Development Programme) in the period 2007-2013 stood at the level of 13,600 ha annually, thus the area of unfavourable land distribution was not reduced significantly. According to our evaluations the land consolidation should involve at least 50,000 ha annually to improve in real terms the distribution of agricultural plots in Poland.

Het artikel begint met een inleiding waarin het fenomeen van regionaal proza wordt uitgelegd, dat aan het einde van de 19e eeuw en het begin van de 20e eeuw aanwezig was in zowel de Nederlandse als de Poolse literatuur. Vervolgens behandelt het artikel aspecten als tijd, ruimte en onderwerp van de roman, evenals de manier waarop het familiethema werd gepresenteerd. Het artikel eindigt met een samenvatting en bespreking van de conclusies. De gezinsgemeenschap is de eeuwige en fundamentele structuur van interpersoonlijke relaties. Het gezin dat in de geanalyseerde romans wordt gepresenteerd, is een grote gemeenschap van meerdere generaties, gebaseerd op uitgebreide verwantschapsrelaties. Er kan echter zonder aarzelen worden gesteld dat de manier waarop deze gemeenschap wordt gepresenteerd verschillend is in deze romans.
Autorka artykuł podejmuje próbę ukazania obrazu rodziny ukazanego w dwóch powieściach: Boerenpsalm (Psalm flamandzki) Felixa Timmermansa oraz Placówka Bolesława Prusa. Wyszedłszy od przedstawienia zjawiska prozy regionalnej, obecnego na przełomie XIX i XX wieku zarówno w literaturze niderlandzkiej, jak i polskiej, autorka omawia sposób przedstawienia rodziny w obu powieściach jako odwiecznej i podstawowej struktury relacji międzyludzkich. Mimo że rodzina jest w tych powieściach ukazana jako wspólnota duża, wielopokoleniowa, oparta na rozbudowanych stosunkach pokrewieństwa i powinowactwa, to każdy z autorów przedstawia jednak tę wspólnotę w inny sposób.
This article is an attempt to present the image of the family that is contained in two novels, Boerenpsalm (A Peasant’s Psalm) by Felix Timmermans and Placówka (The Outpost) by Bolesław Prus. The article begins with an introduction, explaining the phenomenon of regional prose which was present at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in both Dutch and Polish literature. Following this, aspects such as time, space and the subject of the novel, as well as the way of presenting the family theme, are discussed. The article ends with a summary and discussion of the conclusions drawn. The family community is the eternal and basic structure of interpersonal relationships. The family presented in the novels analysed is a large, multi-generational community, based on relationships. However, it can be unequivocally stated that the manner of presenting this community is different in the two novels discussed.

EURIPA (European Rural and Isolated Practitioners Association) is a regional rural health network, which was founded by family doctors to address the health and well-being needs of rural communities, on one hand, and the practitioners’ needs across Europe, on the other. EURIPA began its activity in 1995 with a small group of family doctors from across Europe, and in 1997 the structure was formalised into that of EURIPA today. EURIPA was initially recognized by WONCA Europe as a special inter- est group and subsequently as a representative network for rural family doctors across Europe. Now, it actively participates in WONCA Europe meetings and their annual conferences. The constitution was revised in 1997 when the International Advisory Board was created to support the work of EURIPA and its Executive Committee. EURIPA has worked hard to raise the profle of rural general practice, from its frst research project in 1997, to the series of Annual Rural Health Forums, which started in 2010. These forums have focussed on quality, education and research with the 5th Forum taking place in September 2014 focussing on policy engagement. EURIPA uses social media to engage its membership and publishes regular newsletters - “Grapevine”, as well as encourages rural GPs to publish in the European Section of the Journal of Rural and Remote Health.
EURIPA (Europejskie Stowarzyszenie Lekarzy z Terenów Wiejskich i Izolowanych) jest stowarzyszeniem udzielającym pomocy lekarskiej na terenach wiejskich, które zostało założone przez lekarzy rodzinnych, aby wyjść naprzeciw potrzebom zdrowotnym ludzi mieszkających na tych terenach z jednej strony, i potrzebom lekarzy z calej Europy, z drugiej strony. EURIPA zapoczątkowała swoją działalność w 1995 roku licząc jedynie kilku lekarzy z całej Europy, po to aby w 1997 roku sformalizować swoją strukturę do tej, która istnieje dzisiaj. EURIPA została początkowo uznana przez WONCA Europe (World Organization of National Colleges, Academies and Academic Associations of General Practitioners/Family Physicians) jako grupa tematyczna, a następnie jako stowarzyszenie lekarzy wiejskich w Europie. Dzisiaj, stowarzyszenie aktywnie uczestniczy w spotkaniach i corocznych konferencjach WONCA Europe. W 1997 roku stowarzyszenie ustanowiło swoją konstytucję i powołało Międzynarodową Radę Doradczą, aby wspierać swoją działalność oraz Zarząd. EURIPA pracuje bardzo intensywnie, aby podnieść jakość wiejskiej opieki medycznej, począwszy od swojego pierwszego projektu w 1997 roku do po coroczne Forum Zdrowia Wiejskiego, które miało swój początek w 2010 roku. Fora te dotyczyły głównie jakości, edukacji i badań w medycynie rodzinnej. Ostatnie z nich, które odbyło się we wrześniu tego roku dotyczyło zaangażowania w politykę działalności stowarzyszenia. EURIPA wykorzystuje media społeczne, aby angażować swoich członków i publikuje biuletyn informacyjny zatytułowany – „Grapevine”. Stowarzyszenie zachęca również wiejskich lekarzy rodzinnych do publikowania swoich artykułów w europejskim dziale czasopisma „Journal of Rural and Remote Health”.
