Opis:: Pilot study of the composition of wastes was carried out in 15 rural family households engaged in agricultural activity. In the study group the average resident of rural areas generates about 166 kg of municipal wastes annually. The conducted studies showed that the composition of municipal wastes coming from rural households changes seasonally. During the periods of summer and autumn, the quantity of bio-wastes increased distinctly. The average mass of wastes transferred to the companies engaged in the collection of wastes in the analyzed rural households is almost 50 kg • M^–1. year^–1. The studies showed that over 80% of organic wastes (kitchen and garden) is utilized in the place where they are generated. In the studies, organic wastes were collected selectively (in separate bags), which undoubtedly had infiuence on their humidity (70–90%). Laboratory analysis of these wastes showed that the ratio C:N in it was from 7 to 19, whereas pH lay within the limits from 5.8 to 6.9 indicating its very good properties for the composting process. Therefore composting of organic waste from rural household should be recommended as the best way for its disposal and the weight reduction of biodegradable waste going to landfills. Comparison of the analyzed variants showed that some waste other than kitchen and garden does not leave the holding (it is re-used or burned in home hearths).

Opis:: In this paper was analyzed selected components of technical infrastructure functioning in rural areas of the Malopolska, Świętokrzyskie and Podkarpackie Voivodships. The level of equipping rural areas with specified infrastructure elements was evaluated in the form of density and availability of infrastructure components. The work has been specified the rate of change in the analyzed indicators. In each of the provinces was separated 4, homogeneous groups of municipalities due to the level of infrastructure and standard of living. The lack of consistency in the level of the dynamics of the development of infrastructure with the dynamics of the percentage of residents using the equipment was noted. A positive phenomenon is that the development of the sewage system in all three voivodships has a higher average rate than the average rate of the development of the water supply system. This is particularly important due to the significant underdevelopment of the sewage system in relation to the water supply system.

Opis:: Despite the fact that multifunctionality and sustainability are guiding principles of Swiss agricultural policy, the number of contributions from Swiss academics to the literature on multifunctionality is small. However, the quality of these contributions is quite high, as they generally address the comprehensiveness of the concept as well as the context in which agricul-ture is positioned. Moreover, the review of existing literature reveals a lack of analyses that inves-tigate the relationship between the concepts of multifunctionality and sustainability, or sustainable development.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań nad koncepcjami wielofunkcyjności rolnictwa i obszarów wiejskich w Szwajcarii. Na podstawie badań można stwierdzić, że pomimo określenia wielofunkcyjności i zrównoważenia jako priorytetów szwajcarskiej polityki rolnej, badania szwajcarskich naukowców związane z wielofunkcyjnością są realizowane w niewielkim zakresie. Dotychczasowe badania odnoszą się do koncepcji wielofunkcyjności w innych krajach Europy i charakteryzuje je wysoka jakość. Przegląd dostępnej literatury ujawnia brak analiz, które przedstawiają relacje między koncepcjami wielofunkcyjności, zrównoważenia i zrównoważonego rozwoju.

Opis:: This study seeks to analyse the process of rural areas policy development in Poland. In this sense, various approaches towards multifunctional rural development within the scientific arena are presented. In Poland, the concept of multifunctionality of rural areas occurred at the beginning of the 1990?s as a result of political system transformation. The research conducted so far points to the definitions of multifunctionality of rural areas as referring to non-agricultural activities of the rural community.
Celem artykułu było zanalizowanie koncepcji wielofunkcyjnego rozwoju rolnictwa i obszarów wiejskich. Przeprowadzone badania określiły kierunki rozwoju polityki obszarów wiejskich w Polsce. Jednocześnie przedstawiono różne podejścia badawcze dotyczące wielofunkcyjnego rozwoju obszarów wiejskich. W Polsce zwarte koncepcje wielofunkcyjności rolnictwa i obszarów wiejskich pojawiły się na początku lat dziewięćdziesiątych w rezultacie transformacji systemu politycznego i dążenia do integracji z Unią Europejską. Przeprowadzone dotychczas w Polsce badania wskazują, że wielofunkcyjność jest definiowana przede wszystkim w odniesieniu do rozwoju pozarolniczej aktywności społeczności wiejskiej.

Opis:: The aim of the study was to try to obtain answers to the following questions: What changes have appeared in the funeral ritual in Polish countryside in the last 60 years and: Can these processes be included in the crisis of death? The research was carried out among women residents of Smardzów, situated 24 kilometres north-east of Wrocław. There were 12 interviews carried out. A research technique used in order to obtain interesting data, constituted an interview with a standardised number of questions. According to the answers of many responders, it is possible to find a lot of changes in funeral rite. Those answers indicate the crisis of death. We no longer deal with death as a public event, people rather die alone in hospitals, not surrounded with their family at home. The funeral celebration has been limited dramatically. The most attention is given to the organization of a funeral feast. All these phenomena are part of the concept of the crisis of death.

Opis:: The aim of the study is to analyse and compare the changes in land use in rural areas in the Lubelskie Voivodship at the time of implementation of the Rural Development Plan (RDP) during the period 2004-2006 and 2007-2013. The assessment of changes in land use was made based on aggregate voivodship lists of the land and building register covering the years 2004-2013. In detailed analyses the changes in the register area of particular lands in 20 districts. For the purpose of research presentation QGIS software was used, which allowed to present the changes in land use in the form of a cartogram. The research shows a decrease in the acreage of agricultural land and waste land at the time of implementation of the two programmes, at the expense of, among others, forests, wooded and bushy lands, urban and built-up lands, ecological lands and various land. The effect of financing activities related to the reduction of the human impact on the environment during the period 2007-2013 in Lubelskie Voivodship can be observed in the changes of ecological land acreage. It was observed the overall area increase of 22,21%. Ecological lands constitute a very small percentage of the lands in Lubelskie Voivodship. It is the authors’ opinion that should strive to increase their acreage in order to increase biodiversity in rural areas.

Opis:: Professor Walerian Pańko in his two works, „The right of property and its present functions” and „Ownership of land space in the planned economy” recognizes the concept of property and its protection as a key to planning. This belief is also divided today, when ownership and functions have been modified, but the principles of planning meet other tasks. The views of this eminent professor of law who has the visionary talent will provide a starting point for discussion about the contemporary importance of planning for rural areas and the impact of spatial planning through the lens of ownership completed their functions. The authors seek to answer the question of whether the views presented more than thirty years ago, in a different economic and legal systems, spatial planning are still applicable? The answer to this question may help to use the modern legislator of the solutions proposed by Walerian Pańko in the field of space. The authors show that the majority views of the Walerian Pańko are still topicality.
