This article aims to explore and justify the usefulness of the category “history” as used in spiritual theology. Following an introduction to the main subject, the initial section shows the importance and usefulness of this category in contemporary theology, as dealt with by the theology of history. In the main section, the article discusses four fields in which the category of “history” lends its functionality to spiritual theology: biblical spirituality, liturgical spirituality, worldly commitment, and spiritual development. This section also explains how the category of “history” is operative in each of these fields. The last section of the article is a synthetic outline of the results of the research.

The article focuses on the issue of spiritual development from the perspective of consciousness. The question of spiritual development exists in close connection with the concept of spirituality. The issue of consciousness can be reduced to three elements that make up a single act of consciousness: an empirical subject, complementing the object, and a non-act self-awareness, i.e. a non-empirical or proper subject. Self-awareness plays a key role in spiritual development in the fi eld of consciousness. The development of self-awareness should strive to reveal non-act self-awareness, but it has a similar structure and is experienced like any other acts of awareness. Spiritual development is the process of the of self-awareness growth and the constitution of the “Self” as an empirical subject that separates itself from a specifi c class of objects that are a component of the fi eld of possible experience for a person. The eff ects of spiritual development can also be described as self-knowledge, which can be a conceptual explanation of either actual experiences or a more stable state of the human subject.

Permanent formation is related to periodic formation and is understood as its extension, undertaken in order to empower the teacher to participate in contemporary religious education and its curriculum design. Therefore, the nature, the contents and the methodology of permanent formation all depend on the degree and type of educational background acquired through academic courses. The major function of the permanent formation is making the teachers capable of personal growth through enhancing the professional skills they developed during the studies. The effectiveness of religious education is not, first and foremost, dependent on the contents and methods of instruction, but on the teacher: his/her personal maturity and spiritual advancement, his acquaintance with contemporary life, his interpersonal skills and readiness to stay in dialogue with others. Rapid changes in human mentality and the deeper understanding of what religious education really is impose a challenge upon the teacher to undertake permanent formation, in both the realm of the matter and of the spirit; intellectual and methodological. The formation of the religion teacher largely depends on his/her acquisition of declarative and procedural knowledge, but the main task they face is their becoming pro-active and empowered, so that they can see their strong points, make them even stronger and use them effectively for influencing their environment. Personal growth needs constant improvement and requires sensitivity to the need of renewal and social participation. Of utmost importance is the teacher's opening to God and to the problems of contemporary world, his/her contemplation of the Bible and active participation in the life of the Church. All these efforts should shape the religion teacher into a dynamic, pro-active person, capable of effective interpersonal contact. Otherwise, the teacher is very unlikely to be effective in his/her didactic impact. The proper understanding and profiling of the teacher's formation − which takes part in the community and through the community − ensures effective catechetical education.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie przestrzeni rozwoju duchowego w kontekście poetyckiej myśli Karola Wojtyły. Zagadnienie ujęto z dwóch perspektyw – Podmiotowości i Twórczości. Zawarte są one w poszczególnych częściach opracowania jako główne punkty odniesienia: procesy osobotwórcze leżące u podłoża rozwoju człowieka (samorealizacja, personalizacja, autokreacja, transgresja), sztuka jako doświadczenie, miejsce twórczości w rozwoju. Afirmacja podmiotowości ujęta została jako inspiracja do rozwoju duchowego. Poezje i dramaty autorstwa Wojtyły odzwierciedlają w pełni przemyślaną i dojrzałą koncepcję osoby. Istota procesu osobowo-twórczego w poetyckiej myśli Karola Wojtyły jest głęboką refleksją, ujętą w przestrzeni procesu tworzenia – aż ku transcendencji. Podmiotowość i Twórczość stanowią obszary odniesienia i inspiracji na drodze wspierania rozwoju osoby. Przeżycie bliskości z transcendentną rzeczywistością skłania do rozważań w osobistej perspektywie sensu istnienia, twórczych możliwości człowieka i sposobu ich wyrażania. Ukazane przestrzenie rozwoju duchowego mogą zatem stanowić źródło refleksji pedagogicznej.

Ekologia przemysłowa opiera się na analogiach i myśleniu lateralnym, zapożyczając, dostosowując i przekraczając nowe granice wyobrażeń i innowacyjnych rozwiązań, mających ułatwić drogę do zrównoważonego rozwoju. Mówiąc o kluczowej roli, jaką ludzkość musi odegrać w urzeczywistnieniu tego rozwoju, odkrywamy niezwykłą analogię pomiędzy holistycznym indywidualnym rozwojem człowieka i trojaką koncepcją "triple bottom line" (w zakresie gospodarczym, społecznym i środowiskowym), związaną ze zrównoważonym rozwojem całej ludzkości żyjącej na Ziemi. Jednostka to poziom materialny (potrzeby ciała), jednak celem jej rozwoju powinno być osiągnięcie właściwych proporcji w szerszym kontekście pomiędzy czynnikami fizycznymi, emocjonalnymi i duchowymi. Kiedy stanie się to udziałem wszystkich jednostek, wykoślawiona społeczno-ekonomiczna technosfera stopniowo przeobrazi się w pełni rozwiniętą. Paradoksalnie ludzie muszą poznać siebie, zrozumieć swoją istotę duchową, aby technosfera objęła także troskę o Ziemię.
Industrial ecology is founded on analogies and lateral thinking, borrowing and adapting, and opening up the frontiers of imagination and innovativeness to make the road to sustainable development more tractable. Talking of the key role mankind needs to play to make sustainable development a reality, a wonderful analogy is uncovered - between holistic individual human development and the triple bottom line approach (economic, social and environmental) to sustainable progress of humanity as a whole on the surface of the earth. An individual starts off from gross materialism (body) but needs to aim for the right blend of physical, emotional and spiritual advancement in life. When all individuals do so, a lop-sided socio-economic techno-sphere will gradually metamorphose into a fully-evolved one. Paradoxically, individuals need to delve in and comprehend their spiritual selves, for the technosphere to fan out and embrace the earth of which it is just a small component.

Kierownictwo duchowe odgrywa znaczącą rolę w formacji chrześcijańskiej. Siostra Faustyna wielokrotnie odwołuje się w swoim Dzienniczku do tej posługi. Nie tylko wskazuje na znaczenie kierownictwa duchowego w rozwoju duchowym, ale także opisuje swoje doświadczenie, odwołując się do powszechnej potrzeby takiej posługi wobec dusz dążących do doskonałości. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiona jest praktyka kierownictwa duchowego w życiu Mistyczki. Przedstawiono w nim krótkie biografie kierowników duchowych s. Faustyny – ks. Józefa Andrasza i bł. ks. Michała Sopoćki. Ponadto omówione zostały cechy wymagane u kierowników duchowych oraz wskazano przykład relacji między s. Faustyną a jej kierownikami. Główne cechy kierownika duchowego to: kompetencje teologiczne, osobiste doświadczenie duchowe, doskonałość życia chrześcijańskiego. W ostanim punkcie opisano cechy wymagane u osoby korzystającej z kierownictwa duchowego. Podkreślono tu posłuszeństwo, szczerość i zaufanie. Wskazano na przykład św. Faustyny, jako osoby doskonale korzystającej z kierownictwa duchowego.
Spiritual direction plays a significant role in Christian formation. Sister Faustina frequently refers to this service in her "Diary". He not only points to the importance of spiritual direction in spiritual development, but also describes his experience by referring to the universal need for such service to souls striving for perfection. This article presents the practice of spiritual direction in the life of the Mystic. It presents short biographies of Sister Faustina’s spiritual directors – Józef Andrasz and Bl. Michał Sopoćko. In addition, the features required by spiritual directors were discussed, and an example of the relationship between St. Faustina and her directors was indicated. The main features of a spiritual director are: theological competence, personal spiritual experience, and the perfection of the Christian life. The last point describes the qualities required of a person receiving spiritual direction. Obedience, honesty and trust are emphasized here. St. Faustina is pointed as a person who makes perfect use of spiritual direction.

This paper presents how the mystical life of the Polish mystic Sister Roberta Babiak began, developed and manifested itself. The author discusses the particular stages in her mystical life: from expurgation, through partial union, up to transforming deifying union. In this way, the author illustrates the dynamics of Sister Babiak’s faith and expounds its major functions: help to achieve deeper cognition of the redemptive truths; to get to know God Himself as well as to build communion with Him. The author also examines the attributes of this faith, emphasising the fact that it is ecclesiastical faith, shaped in the harmony with the ecclesiastical heritage and teaching. It is a light and a dark kind of faith, simultaneously: it grants a special gift for understanding the Revelation, but it also is an initiation into the mystery of the secret God. This is a living faith – rich in the gifts of the Holy Spirit – leading to the mystical experience: meeting God, Son and the Holy Spirit inside the mystic.

W posoborowym nauczaniu Kościoła, wobec wyzwań, przed jakimi stają wspólnoty zakonne, pojawiają się liczne apele o zachowanie w ich życiu i misji wierności charyzmatowi założycielskiemu. Kwestia rozumienia tegoż charyzmatu i jego kształtowania stała się z tego względu przedmiotem głębszej refleksji teologicznej. Zasadniczym celem niniejszego opracowania jest ukazanie, w jaki sposób słowo Boże wpisało się w proces rozeznawania i rozwoju charyzmatu założyciela salwatorianów i salwatorianek bł. Franciszka Marii od Krzyża Jordana (1848–1918). Szczególnym świadkiem tej drogi jest pisany przez niego przez ponad 40 lat Dziennik duchowy, który z tego względu stał się głównym punktem odniesienia w podejmowanej refleksji. Realizując obrany cel, wskazano najpierw na miejsce Biblii w życiu bł. Franciszka Jordana. Następnie omówiono szczególne działanie Ducha Świętego w życiu tego zakonodawcy, które określa się mianem inspiracji fundamentalnej. Zwieńczeniem podjętych rozważań stała się refleksja nad dynamiką, z jaką słowo Boże, szczególnie fragment J 17,3, działało na drodze rozeznawania i kształtowania jego charyzmatu założycielskiego.
In the post-conciliar teaching of the Church, in view of the challenges faced by religious communities, there are numerous appeals to remain faithful to the founding charism in their life and mission. The question of understanding this charism and its formation has therefore become the subject of deeper theological reflection. The main purpose of this study is to show how the word of God became part of the process of discerning and developing the charism of the founder of the Salvatorians and Salvatorian Sisters, Blessed Francis Mary of the Cross Jordan (1848–1918). A special witness of this path is the Spiritual Diary he had been writing for more than 40 years, which became the main point of reference in the reflection undertaken. Realizing the chosen goal, the place of the Bible in the life of Blessed Francis Jordan was first pointed out. Then the special action of the Holy Spirit in the life of this religious founder, which is described as fundamental inspiration, was discussed. The culmination of the considerations undertaken became a reflection on the dynamics with which the word of God, especially the passage John 17:3, illumined the path of discernment and formation of his founding charism.

CEL NAUKOWY: Celem artykułu jest pokazanie rzadziej podejmowanego w pedagogice zagadnienia, jakim jest rozwój duchowy wychowanka. PROBLEM I METODY BADAWCZE: Problem podjęty w artykule ma formę dwóch pytań: Jakie sposoby opisywania duchowości i jej wyrażania wykorzystał w swoich tekstach Korczak? Jakie podejmował działania, aby wychować uduchowione dziecko? Metoda przyjęta w pracy to analiza semantyczna wybranych tekstów wielkiego pedagoga, wspomnień jego wychowanków i innych osób, z którymi pozostawał w bliskich relacjach, oraz opracowań naukowych na temat jego życia i twórczości. PROCES WYWODU: W artykule zostało zaprezentowane zagadnienie opisywania i wyrażania duchowości przez Korczaka w jego tekstach, a także jego działania podejmowane w celu wychowania uduchowionego dziecka. WYNIKI ANALIZY NAUKOWEJ: Z analizy tekstów Korczaka na temat duchowości i podejmowanych przez niego działań wynika, że jednym z celów, jakie sobie stawiał, było to, aby uczynić swoje życie i życie swoich wychowanków bardziej uduchowionym. WNIOSKI, INNOWACJE, REKOMENDACJE: Podjęte zagadnienie wymaga dalszych studiów nad językiem religijnym Korczaka oraz przeprowadzenie całościowej analizy semantycznej wszystkich wspomnień wychowanków wielkiego pedagoga.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the article is to show the less frequently discussed issue in pedagogy, which is the spiritual development of the pupil.  THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The problem in the paper is taken up in the form of two questions: What methods of describing spirituality and its expression did Korczak use in his texts? What steps did he take to raise a spiritual child? The method adopted in the work is a semantic analysis of selected texts of the great educator, the memories of his pupils and other people with whom he was in close relations, as well as scientfic studies on his life and work.  THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The article presents the issue of describing and expressing spirituality by Janusz in his texts, as well as his activities to raise a spiritual child. RESEARCH RESULTS: The analysis of Korczak’s texts on spirituality and the activities he undertook shows that one of the goals he set for himself was to make his life and the lives of his pupils more spritual.  CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDTIONS: The undertaken issue requires further studies on the religious language of Korczak and conducting a comprehensive semantic analysis of all the memories of the pupils of the great educator.

This paper attempts to provide the reader with an outlook on the spirituality of contemporary men. Firstly, the author describes how contemporary men are seeking their identity and manly spirituality. The paper pinpoints the roots of the reflection on the faith (spirituality) of men: the Bible, psychology, hagiography or fairy tales. Secondly, the author focuses on the personality-related differences between the male and female styles of spirituality. Thirdly, the most significant trends in the studies of male spirituality are presented: literature of the subject, formation of male groups and communities, various forms of retreats and male meetings, etc. Lastly, the profiles of selected male biblical figures are evoked, with emphasis on the distinctive features of each of them.

Artykuł podejmuje problem cierpień duchowych dziecka od poczęcia aż do okresu wczesnoszkolnego. Wyjaśnia, jak te cierpienia wpływają na aktualną sytuację życiową dziecka oraz na jego przyszłość. W artykule ukazana jest również zależność pomiędzy inteligencją duchową, rozwojem duchowym, rozwojem psychicznym, zycznym a cierpieniami duchowymi. W artykule tym autorka podaje własną definicję cierpień duchowych.
The article takes up the problem of spiritual suffering of the child during his lifetime. It explains how spiritual suffering in;uences present and future life of a child. The article also shows the connection between spiritual intelligence, spiritual development, physical development and spiritual suffering. The author gives her own definition of spiritual suffering in this article.

This article takes up a very current problem of psychic and moral neglects of parents towards their own children. It is the continuation of a series of articles connected with psychic and spiritual spheres of human development and its dangers. Previous ones were entitled: “Spiritual suffering of the child. Psychological aspects”, “A child as a spiritual orphan”, “The value of spiritual intelligence in the process of socio‑economic changes”, “Spiritual addiction as a problem of contemporary youth. Psychological aspects”.

W niniejszym artykule zostały przedstawione dwa rodzaje argumentów za zawarciem związku małżeńskiego: naturalne i nadprzyrodzone. W porządku naturalnym najważniejsze jest: przekazywanie życia; pewnego rodzaju wzajemne życiowe wsparcie małżonków oraz porządek społeczny. Argumenty dotyczące sfery nadprzyrodzonej mogą być kierowane zasadniczo tylko do ludzi wierzących. Mają one charakter obietnic Bożych i zachęty duchowej związanej z rozwojem miłości jako daru Bożego, dojrzewaniem seksualności oraz radością posiadania dzieci, trwałością, wiernością i zaufaniem w związku małżeńskim, nauką przebaczania i rozkwitem wolności małżeńskiej. Treść argumentów pozostaje od wieków taka sama, być może trzeba szukać nowych form przekazu, zgodnie zasadami nowej ewangelizacji.
The article presents two kinds of arguments for entering into marriage: natural and supernatural. On the side of nature the most important argument is transmission of life, some kind of mutual life support of the spouses and social order. On the supernatural side the arguments can basically be addressed only to believers. They have the character of God’s promises and spiritual incentive connected with the growth of love as God’s gift, the development of sexuality and the joy of having children, permanence, loyalty and trust in the marriage relationship, learning to forgive and the flourishing of matrimonial freedom. The content of the arguments has remained unchanged for centuries, perhaps new forms of communication need to be found following the principles of the new evangelization.

Opis:
St. Urszula Ledóchowska- the founder of the Ursulines Sisters of the Order of Dying Heart of Jesus (Sióstr Urszulanek Serca Jezusa Konającego) – whose personality is usually discribed by the formula – Polish and European – lived and worked in difficult times in the first half of the twentieth century. Above all, she was the mistress of the spiritual life. In her attitude towards the the world and people, she was able to perfectly combine contemplation and activity. In the center of her spirituality, she has placed the mystery of Jesus Crucified – The Dying Heart and His Mother. A strong faith in God, putting trust in Him, should – according to her beliefs – shape human life that should be giving constant witness to the Risen Christ. At the same time the Saint was a person deeply involved in the problems of everyday life. Since her entrance to the Ursulines (Urszulanki) in Kraków, St. Urszula Ledóchowska gave great importance of girls education. During her stays in Russia, Sweden, Denmark, and then after returning to the free Poland, to Pniewy; she established schools with a modern program of education, where intellectual development was closely connected with the development of spiritual and religious. The school was supposed to be a community shaped like a ‘small church’ and its purpose was to teach and educate. St. Urszula Ledóchowska demanded from the teachers not only education and good manners, but primarily tolerance and ‘cheerfulness’ that comes from the certainty of faith in God. Therefore, her life was ‘a rosary embodied in an act’ and the act were Faith, Hope and Love.
