Opis:
The article presents an original optimisation method developed by authors, which combines the method of simple gradient and iterative solution to an optimisation problem formulated. The innovative design method is presented by example of forming a symmetrical three-span post-tensioned concrete beam. The mathematical notation of the routes of prestressing tendons is presented along with the iterative algorithm, which allows for finding quickly an optimum solution to the optimisation problem in question. Based on the results of calculations performed, recommendations are given for the prestressing tendons routing in symmetrical three-beam post-tensioned concrete beams.

SWOT
Opis:
Today, almost 80% of cargo is transported by sea. Most of the global maritime shipping operations are performed in the direction East – West, through the southern routes, e.g. Singapore – Suez Canal – Gibraltar – Europe. The total fuel cost is the major concern and the main drawback of these routes. According to the latest statistics and analyses, the price of fuel is growing and such a trend will cause a great impact on the economies of developing countries. For these reasons, new alternative maritime routes, in which the optimisation of transportation in the maritime transport network can be achieved, are to be found. There is a possibility of establishing such routes in the areas of high latitudes where climatological changes and diminishing ice open up entirely new possibilities for shipping and present completely new challenges in the global shipping industry. Through the comparative analysis of the main routes and the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) method, this paper discusses the advantages, potential and importance, as well as the level of reliability, threats and disadvantages of using the areas of high latitude in maritime transport.

Opis:
The paper presents a new weather routing solution fully supporting multicriteria optimisation process of route finding. The solution incorporates two multicriteria optimisation methods, namely multicriteria evolutionary algorithm (SPEA) and multicriteria ranking method (Fuzzy TOPSIS). The paper focuses on presenting the proposed multicriteria evolutionary weather routing algorithm (MEWRA). Furthermore, it includes some experiment results together with a short description of the assumed ship model.

Opis:
This paper describes the architecture of a weather routing system consisting of two key elements: onboard monitoring and route optimiser sub-systems. The former is responsible for collecting various onboard measurements, such as current ship position or ship motion variables. These data, when gathered and processed, are then used for fine-tuning a ship model. The model, together with weather forecasts, is utilised by a multi-objective route optimiser to estimate forecasted ship responses during the voyage. The route optimiser has been developed in a client-server architecture to reallocate all necessary high-tech resources to the server side and keep the client software as simple and light as possible. The system also includes a module responsible for optimising transmission costs, to reduce onboard transmission during the voyage. The entire solution has been deployed onboard the demonstrator ship ‘Monte da Guia’ and tested during its operations at sea.
