- The article shows the influence of a family with an alcohol problem on the psychosocial functioning of the child. It is based on data acquired from surveys which were carried out with the techniques of random sampling and an interview. The persons covered with the surveys included 52 children between 12 and 16 years old, participants in classes run by the Community Centre in Iława and 11 members of the Community of Adult Children of Alco-holics who meet in the Centre for Psychoeducation, Addiction Prevention and Family Sup-port in Iława. The article discusses the issue of the attention which alcohol-addicted parents pay to their children's basic needs, traumatic experiences and other negative feelings experi-enced by the child, as well as the question of social and educational effects of one or both parents' alcohol abuse.
