    Risk has become one of the most important categories in the global economy. This term belongs to the most popular phenomena in the economy. Decision making is always connected with risk. It is an inseparable part of human history and there are no man’s actions which cannot be associated with it. The notion of risk is universal: it concerns political, economic and social activities. It takes on specific meaning in the space of economic activity: taking risk entails certain financial consequences. Due to this fact, the essence of risk, methods of its evaluation, as well as its management are the topics of a growing number of publications in various scientific fields. The key problem for an entrepreneur is to first determine sources of risk, to assess its size and the influence it may have on the business, and then–to take action in order to minimize this influence. The article analyses dangers in a municipal waste incineration plant. In incineration plants there are various risks but environmental threats, broadly analysed in this article, belong to the most serious ones. Two independent risk analysis methods have been used for this purpose to determine the most serious threats related to environmental risk and options of counteracting them.

    Due to its specific nature, the provision of medical services is associated with considerable risk; and it is extremely important to diagnose and manage this same risk. Healthcare entities should be covered by appropriate instruments that reduce risk and support quality. In addition to legal regulations that must be met by entities providing such services, there are systemic solutions that are being implemented by more and more healthcare entities. The article analyses the risk that occurs in the management of a health care unit. In the first part of the article, the literature on the topic is reviewed, whereas what follows thereafter analyses risks in the management of a healthcare unit, including risk factors and risk allocation. The conclusion points to the risks which play the greatest role in the management of medical service providers; and enumerates some of the most important issues of risk management in medical entities.

    Opis:
    The paper examined which risk type was most frequently notified on motor vehicles and what was its relationship with: year, notifying country, country of origin, and measures adopted by the notifying country. The data originated from Rapid Alert System for dangerous non-food products (RAPEX) database and concerned the period from 2005 to 2015. The cluster analysis and scatterplots using Statistica 12 was adopted. It was found that the risk type was directly related with the notifying country, followed by: year, country of origin and measures adopted. The most frequent risk was injury and the number of notifications in this area have increased over the last years. The notified motor vehicles originated predominatingly from Germany and also this country most frequently notified these products. The measures towards to notified vehicles were usually taken by the economic operator.
    Zbadano, który typ ryzyka jest najczęściej zgłaszany wobec pojazdów silnikowych i jaka jest jego zależność z rokiem, krajem zgłaszającym, krajem pochodzenia i przyjętymi środkami. Dane pochodziły z bazy danych Systemu Szybkiego Informowania o Niebezpiecznych Produktach Nieżywnościowych (RAPEX) i obejmowały okres od 2005 do 2015 roku. Wykorzystano analizę skupień i wykresy rozrzutu posługując się programem Statistica 12. Stwierdzono, że typ ryzyka był bezpośrednio związany z krajem zgłaszającym, a następnie z rokiem, krajem pochodzenia i przyjętymi środkami. Najczęściej zgłaszanym ryzykiem było zranienie, a liczba powiadomień z tego zakresu wzrosła w ostatnich latach. Zgłaszane pojazdy silnikowe pochodziły przede wszystkim z Niemiec i także ten kraj najczęściej zgłaszał te produkty. Środki wobec zgłaszanych pojazdów przeważnie podejmowane były przez przedsiębiorcę.

    In the era of renewable energy development, one of the most important problems is the utilisation of residues of production of the so-called clean energy. In the case of biogas plants, the problem is the utilisation of waste after the anaerobic methane fermentation process of the organic substrate. One of the ways to use it is to produce organic and mineral fertilisers. However, the fertiliser plant may be exposed to a number of threats that may prevent its functioning. To avoid this, the factors that carry the risk need to be identified. The purpose of the article is to identify external risk factors for a fertiliser plant based on digestate. The following types of risk were identified as a result of the research: risk of supplying fertiliser components of inadequate quality; risk of non-compliance with deadlines for the delivery of raw materials or their total absence; risk of the presence of eggs of parasites and pathogenic bacteria in fertiliser; price risk; cyclical risk; risk of competition; currency, credit and interest rate risk.

    The article describes the components of the risk assessment process, the analysis and classification of modern approaches to the evaluation of risk events. Justification of the possibility of using the methods of statistical, analytical, expert assessment approaches is based on the division of the methods into the groups by types of risks assessed: technical, investment, bankruptcy, market, credit, operational, in-house risk, the risk of financial assets and portfolios. The application examples of the assessment methods in terms of mining industry were provided.
    W artykule przedstawiono elementy procesu oceny ryzyka wraz z analizą i klasyfikacją nowoczesnych podejść do ewaluacji ryzyka w przedsiębiorstwie. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na możliwość zastosowania metod statystycznych, analitycznych i eksperckich w ocenie ryzyka: technicznego, inwestycyjnego, bankructwa, rynkowego, kredytowego, operacyjnego, wewnętrznego oraz ryzyka związanego z aktywami finansowymi i tworzeniem portfela tych aktywów. W części empirycznej artykułu w postaci studium przypadków zaprezentowano przykłady zastosowania metod oceny ryzyka w branży górniczej.

    Struktura kapitałów przedsiębiorstwa ma istotny wpływ na ryzyko finansowe działalności gospodarczej. Wraz ze wzrostem kapitałów obcych, wzrasta zmienność przepływów gotówkowych netto firmy. Korelacja ta będzie jednak różna w zależności od sytuacji rynkowej oraz wielkości sprzedaży. Jeżeli kapitał obcy zostanie umiejętnie wykorzystany, można spodziewać się równowagi w przepływach gotówkowych. Równowaga finansowa przedsiębiorstwa może się zachwiać, jeśli zarządzający nieumiejętnie wykorzystywać będą zarówno majątek jaki i kapitał przedsiębiorstwa. Analizując mierzalność skutków ryzyka można je podzielić na ryzyko finansowe lub pozafinansowe. Cechą charakterystyczną ryzyka finansowego jest możliwość jego zmierzenia i określenia jego wpływu na wynik finansowy.
    The capital structure of an enterprise has a significant impact on the financial risk of business operations. Along with the increase in foreign capital, the volatility of the company’s net cash flows increases. However, this correlation will vary depending on the market situation and sales volume. If the foreign capital is skillfully used, one can expect a balance in cash flows. The financial balance of an enterprise may be shaken if managers misuse both the assets and the capital of the enterprise. By analyzing the measurability of risk effects, they can be divided into financial or non-financial risk. A characteristic feature of financial risk is the ability to measure it and determine its impact on the financial result.

    Niniejsze opracowanie poświęcono tematyce ryzyka prowadzenia działalności gospodarczej. Zdefiniowano pojęcia niepewności i ryzyka, omówiono cztery podstawowe grupy ryzyka: ryzyko operacyjne, finansowe, strategiczne i losowe. W odniesieniu do każdej z wymienionych grup wygenerowano czynniki, które obecnie w największym stopniu wpływają na funkcjonowanie firm z grupy małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw. Praca zawiera także odniesienia do istoty oraz etapów zarządzania ryzykiem.
    This study is devoted to the subject matter of the risk of running business. The author defined the notion of uncertainty and risk, discussed the four basic groups of risk: the operating, financial, strategic and casualty risk. Related to every of the specified groups, there were generated the factors which at present affect to the greatest degree on functioning of firms from the group of small and medium--sized enterprises. The work includes also references to the essence and stages of risk management.

    The paper has theoretical nature. Taking into account the financial reporting system of enterprises, or, more broadly, their reporting system, paper presents considerations on the relationship between corporate innovativeness and profitability. The main goal of the paper is to present the translation of expenditures on innovative activity and its effects on the profitability achieved by enterprises in various perspectives.

    Celem rozważań jest ukazanie miejsca i roli ubezpieczeń turystycznych w systemie ubezpieczeń gospodarczych. Wprawdzie w nauce o ubezpieczeniach nie znajdujemy definicji ubezpieczeń turystycznych, jednak najogólniej można stwierdzić, iż są to ubezpieczenia służące zaspokojeniu potrzeb finansowych (gospodarstw domowych i przedsiębiorstw), które powstają w związku z realizacją ryzyka specyficznego dla podmiotu podejmującego aktywność w zakresie szeroko pojętej turystyki i rekreacji. W artykule podjęto próbę uporządkowania i scharakteryzowania tych ubezpieczeń na tle podstawowych pojęć i kategorii oraz w świetle klasycznego ujęcia systematyki ubezpieczeń, prezentowanego w literaturze ubezpieczeniowej, z wykorzystaniem kilku najważniejszych kryteriów klasyfikacyjnych, tj. kryterium: - podmiotowego, - przedmiotowego, - związanego z konstrukcją programu ubezpieczenia, - związanego z przestrzennym charakterem ryzyka, - związanego z przymusem ubezpieczeniowym lub swobodą zawierania umowy, - regulacji prawnej, - branży. Wyjaśnienie istoty ubezpieczeń turystycznych i ich funkcji w kontekście specyfiki ryzyka służy celom praktycznym – porządkując rynek ubezpieczeniowy oraz wspierając proces zarządzania ryzykiem i w jego ramach projektowanie programów ochrony ubezpieczeniowej dla zainteresowanych podmiotów. Wśród społecznych implikacji opracowania można wymienić wpływ objaśniających, porządkujących i systematyzujących ujęć na wzrost świadomości ryzyka i świadomości ubezpieczeniowej zwykle skutkujący większą przezornością ubezpieczeniową.     An aim of the author’s deliberations is to present the place and role of tourist insurance in the system of business insurance. To be sure, in the science of insurance, we do not find a definition of tourist insurance, though most generally we can state that it is insurance serving meeting financial needs (by households and enterprises) which occur with regard to managing the risk specific to the entity undertaking its activity in the area of tourist and recreation in a broad sense. In her article, the author undertook an attempt to arrange and describe that insurance against the background of basic notions and categories as well as in the light of the classical approach to the insurance systematics presented in the insurance literature, with the use of several basic classification criteria as follows: - subjective, - objective, - connected with construction of the insurance programme, - connected with the spatial nature of risk, - connected with the insurance coercion or the freedom to conclude a contract, - legal regulation, - branch. Explanation of the essence of tourist insurance and its functions in the context of risk specificity services practical objectives, arranging the insurance market and supporting the process of risk management, and, within its framework, designing programmes of insurance protection for the oncerned entities. Among the social implications of the study, there can be mentioned impact of the explaining, arranging, and systematising approaches on growth of awareness of the risk and insurance awareness, usually resulting in a greater insurance prudence.     Niniejszy artykuł przestawia nowe symptomy i trendy występujące we współczesnej narkomanii. Przedstawia obraz współczesnego Polaka narkomana, którym jest osoba dorastająca w okresie transformacji społeczno ustrojowej w Polsce oraz globalnej gospodarki wolnorynkowej, w globalnej wiosce. W chwili obecnej w okresie swobodnego przepływu emigracji osób, symptomami narkomanii są: obniżanie się wieku osób odurzających się, zmiana preferencji zażywanych środków oraz zmiany w sposobie rozprowadzania narkotyków. Niepokojącym zjawiskiem społecznym Polski i świata jest traktowanie zażywania narkotyków jako elementu stylu życia. Również sprzedaż narkotyków jest obecnie drugim obok handlu bronią i ludźmi najbardziej dochodowym interesem mafijnym. Narkotyki stają się powszechne, studenci, młodzi ludzie biznesu nie traktują np. amfetaminy jako narkotyku, lecz jako środek pobudzający do większej wydolności organizmu albo dla relaksu i dobrej zabawy. Kolejna kwestia, to sposoby przeciwdziałania rozszerzaniu się narkomanii w Polsce, poprzez pojawienie się aktów prawnych regulujących tą problematykę w naszym kraju oraz na płaszczyźnie międzynarodowej.
    This article Introduces new symptoms and trends occurring in today's drug addiction. Presents a picture of contemporary Polish drug addict who is a person growing up in the political and social transition in Poland and the global free market economy, the global village. At the moment, during the emigration of free movement of persons, symptoms of addiction are: lowering the age of drugs to change the preferences are taking measures and changes in drug distribution. Polish disturbing social phenomenon and the World is to treat drug use as part of lifestyle. Also, sale of drugs is now second next to the arms trade and human. Drugs are becoming common, students, young business people do not treat such as amphetamines as a drug but as a stimulant to greater efficiency of the organism, or for relaxation and fun. Another issue is how to prevent the spread of drug addiction in Poland, through the emergence of legal acts regulating the issues in our country and at international level.

    The first part of the paper looks at the definitions of contemporary sport, and the phenomenon of extreme sports. It outlines the proposed division criteria for the identification of extreme sports, as well as the scientific and non-scientific classification of the disciplines. The second part is devoted to the notion of risk as a stress factor and looks at the concept of stress, its relation to sporting activities, and its impact on the level of task performance. It also provides an overview of the determinants of resistance and the influence of temperament on the choice of a given sport discipline. The third part of the paper identifies the potential threats to the health and life of athletes and fans. In the conclusive part, the paper focuses on the mental health disorder suffered in various types of crisis situations.
    W pierwszej części artykuł przedstawiono definicje współczesnego sportu oraz fenomenu sportów ekstremalnych. Opisano proponowane kryteria podziału służące identyfikacji sportów ekstremalnych, a także naukową i pozanaukową klasyfikację dyscyplin. Drugą część poświęcono ryzyku jako czynnikowi stresogennemu.
