    Opis:
    Istnieje wiele metod wyszukiwania informacji. Artykuł przedstawia możliwości połączenia tych metod i skonstruowania uniwersalnego, hybrydowego systemu wyszukiwania. W artykule zaproponowana została architektura personalnego agenta wyszukiwania (PAW). Posiada on cechy systemu ekspertowego, wyszukiwarki oraz agenta komputerowego. PAW pozwala na pozyskiwanie informacji personalnych tj. numery telefonów osób znajomych. Ponadto umożliwia pobieranie informacji z sieci Internet oraz służy do przeszukiwania zasobów Internetu w celu znalezienia informacji wskazanych przez użytkownika, np. księgarnie internetowe oferujące książki w najniższej cenie. Personalny agent wyszukiwania rozszerza możliwości wyszukiwarek internetowych.
    Many different methods have been designed to search for information. This paper presents possibilities of merging these methods in order to acquire a universal, hybrid information search system. In the paper, a novel architecture of a personal search agent is introduced. The agent has features of an expert system, search engine and a computer agent. The personal agent makes it possible to retrieve different kinds of information. This information includes personal data such as telephone numbers and data available in the Internet. Moreover, the agent can process and analyze groups of web pages in order to find specific data indicated by the user. For example, an agent can search for the lowest prices of books in online bookstores. The personal search agent expands capabilities of search engines.

    Opis:
    W artykule zaprezentowano techniki semantycznego indeksowania danych obrazowych w medycznych bazach danych z wykorzystaniem grafowych formalizmów lingwistyki matematycznej. Zaproponowane rozwiązania w głównej mierze predestynowane są do wizualizacji pochodzących z obrazowania CT (przestrzennych rekonstrukcji unaczynienia wieńcowego), niemniej jednak przedstawiona metodologia może również stanowić bazę dla innej klasy obrazów medycznych.
    The wide spread of multimedia medical databases has shown that the problem of storing and effectively searching for images containing specific disease cases that are significant for medical diagnostics is still fraught with great difficulties. The paper presents semantic indexing techniques in medical imaging databases using graph-based mathematical linguistic formalisms. The proposed solutions are mainly predestined for visualizations obtained from diagnostic examinations with the use of computed tomography (spatial reconstructions of the coronary vascularisation), but the presented methodology can also be a basis for a different class of medical images. The first section describes the methods and limitations in the context of storing and searching for data in medical databases of contemporary systems. The second section presents the historical background and discusses examples of systems. The third section describes next steps of the proposed methodology, which is additionally shown in Fig. 3. The last section summarizes the proposed solutions in the context of other systems and indicates further research directions. The obtained results confirm the possibility of using the proposed solutions in the specialized medical databases.

    W artykule przedstawiono propozycję projektową komponentu wyszukiwania systemu wnioskowania na podstawie przypadków zdarzeń (ang. case based reasoning). Komponent ten bazuje na opracowanej ontologii dziedzinowej wspierającej proces wyszukiwania przypadków zdarzeń. Opracowana ontologia jest wynikiem m.in. przeprowadzonej przez autora analizy dokumentacji opisujących akcje ratowniczo-gaśnicze.
    This paper describes problems of designing the search module of case based reasoning system. In the first part of this article the author describes a review of solutions available in fire service such as decision support system with implements reasoning solution – case based reasoning CBR. Second part of this article describes a search component of this CBR system. The author proposes on ontology layer to support the searching process of case in this module. This ontology layer is a result of the conducted, by the author's analysis of the documentation describing the rescue actions. In the last section the author summarizes proposed project of this component and presents, a new developed way to construct, refactorize and extend the proposed ontology.

    In this paper, we introduce an optimized method to improve the accuracy of content based image retrieval systems (CBIR). CBIR systems classify the images according to low and higher features.In our research, we improve both feature selection and classifier partition of a CBIR system. Results show great performance of our proposed algorithm.

    In this paper we propose and evaluate a soft computing-based passage retrieval system for Question Answering Systems (QAS). Fuzzy PR, our base-line passage retrieval system, employs a similarity measure that attempts to model accurately the question reformulation intuition. The similarity measure includes fuzzy logic-based models that evaluate efficiently the proximity of question terms and detect term variations occurring within a passage. Our experimental results using FuzzyPR on the TREC and CLEF corpora show that our novel passage retrieval system achieves better performance compared to other similar systems. Finally, we describe the performance results of OptFuzzyPR, an optimized version of FuzzyPR, created by optimizing the values of FuzzyPR system parameters using genetic algorithms.

    This paper deals with problems that are related to a feature extraction from 3D objects. The main aim of the feature extraction is to describe a shape of 3D object by a feature vector. Then the elements of this feature vector characterize the shape of the own 3D objects and they can serve as a key in searching for similar models. In this paper are introduced current methods for the feature extraction of 3D models and their classification. These methods are based on different mathematical background and according to that they are separated into several groups.

    The paper briefly discusses some organisational questions of distribution of chemical information over the computer network, emphasizing various tools available for chemical sciences, mainly: chemical reaction retrieval systems, systems for computer-assisted molecular modelling, then for computational chemistry, biocomputing, and information about human genes. From the above mentioned problems, the chemical reaction retrieval systems, like ORAC, REACCS, and SYNLIB are covered in detail. Additionally, the latest philosophy of searching reaction databases, represented by a family of tools from InfoChem GmbH (ChemReact41, CD-ROM-with over 2.5 min of reactions-and STS), are critically reviewed.
