Opis:: Nowadays, research on the use of pyrolysis products in the broadly understood economy is widely conducted in the world. This publication presents the results of research on the use of biochar primarily as a material for use in agriculture and environmental protection. In particular, its use to improve soil properties and as a component of organic fertilisers or composts, as well as an ingredient for animal bedding in livestock buildings or an additive for silage is discussed. In addition, the possibilities of using biochar in the energy sector as a solid fuel and in the broader field of environmental protection for remediation of contaminated land, for carbon sequestration and as a raw material for the production of activated carbons are discussed.

Opis:: In the era of circular economies, municipal wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are viewed as resource recovery facilities. At the very minimum, the targeted resources are water, biogas, and phosphorus. However, municipal wastewater streams (sludge and effluent) need to be adequately treated to eliminate the potential for the transmission of microbial pathogens including protozoa, bacteria, and viruses. This paper presents the results from a study demonstrating the use of electron beam technology for sludge hygenization and enhanced methane (biogas) production using municipal wastewater samples. Cogeneration of heat for fertilizer drying and granulation and electricity for powering the electron beam system are also demonstrated.

Opis:: This paper presents the protection effectiveness assessment of the contents of files created using an office suite. The protection effectiveness is understood as the time required for obtaining a password blocking the access to IT resources. IT resources are files containing data of varying degrees of sensitivity. The study analysed the time it takes to crack a password for different types of information resources. It has been shown that passwords consisting of five or a smaller number of characters, and can be found in less than 1.5 hours. Such a short time needed to find the password does not guarantee the effective protection of the contents of the file. This, in turn, makes it possible to breach of confidentiality attribute of an IT resource.
