Opis:
Q&A systems are becoming a vital source of knowledge in many different domains. In some cases, they are also associated with services which provide employers with important information regarding the expertise of its potential employees. Therefore, the reputation earned in such communities can be associated with better job opportunities, and its significance is increasing. However, in a community where there is no direct financial motivation for participation, a reputation score is not solely an expertise metric. It is also a powerful motivator for remaining an active community member. Regardless of this complexity, algorithms for calculating reputation scores need to be as easy to understand (and implement) as possible. Therefore, the designers of the Q&A reputation system often implement a set of fixed rules, to some extent trading quality for quantity. Our goal is to study whether (and how) temporal statistics of a Q&A website can be incorporated into its reputation system. We want the proposed mechanism to dynamically adjust the impact of a single-answer evaluation on the reputation of its producer. We would like the proposed model to accurately reflect the expertise of content producers.

Opis:
The paper presents a new concept of attack on trust and reputation systems. The oracle attack could violate the security provided by some of the existing reputation systems. The formal model of the attack is presented in the article on the base of the reference trust model, provided bythe author. The author has proved that this type of attack could be eficient. On the other hand,a sort of measures is provided in the paper which could be implemented in the reputation systems to overcome identified vulnerabilities, unfortunately at the cost of increase of system complication. The paper also provides a definition of intelligent strategies of attacks on trust and reputation systems based on cooperation of many malicious nodes and justifies why this type of attacks is a serious threat.

Opis:
The paper presents a set of concepts which can establish a basis for the creation of new evaluation model of trust and reputation management systems (TRM). The presented approach takes into account essential characteristics of such systems to provide an assessment of its robustness. The model also specifies measures of effectiveness of trust and reputation systems. There is still a need to create a comprehensive evaluation model of attacks on trust and reputation management systems and evaluation model of TRM systems itself, which could facilitate establishing a framework to deeply evaluate the security of existing TRM systems. We believe that this paper could be perceived as a small step forward towards this goal.

Opis:
To study cooperation evolution in populations, it is common to use games to model the individuals interactions. When these games are n-player it might be di cult to assign defection responsibility to any particular individual. In this paper the authors present an agent based model where each agent maintains reputation information of other agents. This information is used for partner selection before each game. Any agent collects information from the successive games it plays and updates a private reputation estimate of its candidate partners. This approach is integrated with an approach of variable sized population where agents are born, interact, reproduce and die, thus presenting a possibility of extinction. The results now obtained, for cooperation evolution in a population, show an improvement over previous models where partner selection did not use any reputation information. Populations are able to survive longer by selecting partners taking merely into account an estimate of others' reputations.

Opis:
This paper presents a new concept of an approach to risk assessment which can be done on the basis of publicly available information about vulnerabilities. The presented approach uses also the notion of trust and implements many concepts used in so called trust and reputation management systems (which are widely used in WSN, MANET or P2P networks, but also in ecommerce platforms). The article shows first outcomes obtained from the presented model. The outcomes demonstrate that the model can be implemented in real system to make software management more quantified and objective process, which can have real and beneficial impact on institutional security. In article, however the emphasis was set not on the model itself (which can be easily changed) but on the possibility of finding useful information about vulnerabilities.
